He came out on short notice on a weeknight when my tenant moved out, locked the keys in the house, and left bags of rotting garbage, the windows open, and the heater turned to 85 degrees. I didn't have my copy of the key and was frantic, but he got there within an hour (he was at another job when I called), got into the house for me, and then rekeyed the front and back doors, without charging an arm and a leg. All the keys for my front door deadbolt were either working poorly or not at all, and my attempts to fix it by adjusting or adding graphite powder were no help. We'd been putting up with that annoyance for a couple years, so I finally pulled the core from the lockset and dropped in at Paul's shop with no appointment. I showed him how one of my original keys wouldn't work the lock--he took it over to his workbench and replaced the internal pins in about one minute--problem solved. The bill was amazingly cheap (Paul, don't read this, but I would have been happy at 3 times the price), and he even threw in a pair of new keys at no added charge. Paul is the owner of this business and he reminds me of my "no nonsense Grandpa". He is gruff, hard of hearing, works his business when he feels like it and is lacking in "people skills". I used him, since he is an FFL firearms dealer, to handle a purchase transfer from out-of-state. He is the cheapest around, but you do have to take a bit of crap from him, i.e. the firearms guy "only comes in once a week or so", and "people might not be there so....call before you come." Yeah...so consistancy is not a strong point either. Also he forgets how much he charges or quotes you. Not a good sign either..... His shop is beyond untidy, messy, or catastrophic. WOW! The service was exceptional! I was locked out of my home. I had been calling around since 4:30 pm--all or majority of locksmiths close at 5. I had called 12 people to help. We had the unfortunate experience of being locked out of our home at midnight in my pjs with my husband as we were walking our guests out the front door.
