This place is the BEST! Shopping for glasses is usually not something I like doing- I dread walking in, knowing the optician is going to be looking over my shoulder the whole time I shop, encouraging me to buy a (typically pricey) pair I'm not totally sure about. Looking at my face in the mirror over and over again is not my favorite thing in the world in the first place, least of all with someone I barely know doing it with me while babbling off unwarranted opinions on my style and face shape! Yikes, it's making me anxious just thinking about it. But Richie at SEE was a total gem- he let me browse quietly on my own, told me to take my time and try on whatever I liked, and then gave me real, honest opinions on which frames looked best when I asked. He was friendly, funny, and genuinely concerned that I left with glasses that I would feel happy in, not just a pair that he would be happy to sell. I couldn't believe how affordable the frames were (couldn't help myself- I bought two pairs!) and what an enjoyable experience the whole thing was. I bought a lovely pair of blue frames several weeks ago from See. Richie Livan, the store manager, was particularly helpful. They have an amazing selection of frames, and I especially love their colors. (They have a much greater and more interesting variety than Warby Parker, in my view.) I was so excited to get my new and unique frames! When I purchased my frames, they asked if I'd be interested in transitions, which are lenses that naturally darken in the sun. I had not done my research on transitions lenses, but I said yes, since I wear my frames a lot in the wintertime. Anyhow, a week later my frames arrived. I loved them as soon as I put them on, however, they required a few follow-ups to have them adjusted. Richie and has staff were always helpful and accommodating and adjusted them for me. Then, I realized that I did not like the transitions. Unfortunately, they take several minutes once you come inside to lighten (after darkening outside), and they don't darken when you drive because all car windows now have UV protection in them. I think they may be better for people who only wear glasses. For me, I wear my contact lenses a lot in the summer and I like to wear sunglasses then. So back I went to See and spoke with Richie. I expected to have to pay to have the lenses replaced, but he actually was able to get me an entire new pair of glasses without the transitions lenses, free of charge. This was above and beyond. Amazing amazing customer service! So, if you're in the market for a new pair of glasses, I highly recommend See eyewear on Smith St. in Cobble Hill. The store itself is filled with great, stylish frames and the prices are affordable. APRYL STORMS IS AMAZING!!! On a whim, my friend and I hopped inside. I was entertaining the idea of getting a second pair of "fun" glasses. We met Apryl and she provided excellent advice and thoughtful commentary on the pairs that we were trying on. I didn't buy on my first visit, but was certain that I would come back to purchase, especially since Apryl let us roam and knock over glasses to our pleasure. On my second visit I met up with Apryl again, and she was her same friendly and funny self. I ended up buying a pair of glasses that Apryl recommended on my first visit, along with a second pair--it was the last day of the "Buy one, get one 50% off" sale. There is a huge selection of frames, all very affordable and of great quality. Today I picked up my glasses and they fit perfectly. This was the best glasses shopping experience I've ever had. It never felt like I was being rushed or judged. As someone who has worked in retail before, I can say that Apryl provides unparalleled customer service. Ok...I think I just had the best customer service experience of my whole life and who would have thought my ultimate experience would occur in an eye glass store?! April was patient and took her time with me. I told her what I wanted and she made suggestions and allowed me to be my indecisive annoying self without making me feel like I was being judged! And the manager, his name is slipping me right now, was the BEST! He co-signed when I needed his opinion and he was just an overall cool dude. We chatted about "old" Brooklyn and we realized that we had walked the same path in life. Really helpful staff. I was having some eye trouble unrelated to corrective lenses and the Optometrist (Dr Kim) was incredibly informative and helpful. The rest of the staff was also incredibly friendly, remembering my name throughout my visit, which I thought was a nice touch of customer service. From the moment you walk in, the staff vibe is so positive- I love Brianna (who manages the store) and April- they are some cool chicks with a great sense of what glasses will work for you. I've gotten 2 pairs here and have had a 100% positive experience each time. They will give you free adjustments and cleanings if your pair gets askew or grubby- so helpful when you wear your glasses 24/7! I appreciated the precautions taken for COVID, the doctor who saw me, and the initial experience of the fitting and selection process. The rest has been sh*t. Can't get the store manager to return calls or emails for follow up (without extreme persistence on my end) on correcting reimbursement codes, my file for my records, to schedule some time to get my frames adjusted, and wait--what about the contacts I was trying...? What next?! (The person literally dropped two trial lens packets on the table when I finally came in to pick up glasses, 2 weeks after the fact (because the automatic system had a glitch and no one thought to follow up with me when apparently, I didn't respond. For two weeks.) I had to ask for a kit with a case and lens solution, to which I was told, oh they haven't come in yet...you understand, but they offered to find some spare stuff in the shop for me... I then had to tell them, yes, it would be great if you labeled them so I can put each lens in the correct eye...) At this point, I really just want my patient file so I can take that info to another provider and move on with my life. Don't waste your time at the Cobble Hill shop. I hope it's just this one, but I personally, will not be visiting a See shop ever again. Super disappointing. read more

This is rating is long overdue, but this is my go-to place. I now own five pairs of SEE glasses--I really can't get enough. The service is excellent--the ladies are fun just to hang with on a lazy Sunday on Smith St, the frames are awesome and the customer service is tops. Don't hesitate--pick up your new glasses here. I was told via telephone that I would be able to get single vision glasses for about $200. The store was set up beautifully and customer service was excellent. The glasses we chose were the last pair, the floor model, no name brand. My sister, our friend and I were enjoying the eyeglass buying experience until our Groupon was mentioned. The sales representative, April, did a complete turnaround and became very upset with the fact that we were attempting to use a Groupon. Her whole demeanor changed; she treated us like pariahs. The 1 pair of eyeglasses would cost over $650 AFTER applying the $200 Groupon! The original price quoted was over $900. What? Well I've been wearing eyeglasses for over 20 years and I've had some beautiful designer frames with all the bells and whistles and I never paid more than $400. I am very disappointed in how the whole Groupon experience was handled. Needless to say I made an official complaint to Groupon and I will not be frequenting this shop ever again. I did give 2 stars for presentation. If you have $1000 to spend on glasses then by all means this is the store for you. read more

Like everyone else below, I had a fantastic experience with April. She has it all, charm, taste, professionalism... it was such a pleasure to buy from her. However, when I went to pick up my order April wasn't there. A man served me.. but he could not get me out of the store quick enough.. He just handed me the glasses and shuffled me to the door. I had to open the box myself to check they were the right ones. He then locked the door and took off down the street so was obviously needing to go somewhere. When I got them home and tried them on they needed adjusting as they sloped down towards the right hand side... Also unfortunately the progressive isn't right in one eye isn't right. Yes, I hear you all saying.. just take them back, but I was in the process of moving when I ordered and so I can't get back to the store. $500 down the drain! Really thought whether to write this review but important for See to understand that buying eyewear doesn't begin and end when you write the check and my advice to others would be make sure you go back when April is there!! read more

Great experience for the purchases of frames. Worst experience ever with the eye exam... they are trying to get information on multiple forms from you by pretending it's the law when it's obviously not. There is no reason to divulge or share information regarding my eye prescription with anyone else. Period. I canceled my order for two frames and asked for a refund. They could not refund me on the spot... "because our computer went down right before you came in" LOL! Bring your own prescription and stay away from sharing your confidential information with a company making money reselling them! read more

Went in to get an eye exam the other day, and there wasn't a doctor in. I met (I think her name is Brianna) who was a ray of sunshine! She was warm and friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. She helped me schedule an appointment for the next day. When I came in the next day, she remembered me by name and greeted me warmly. I was directed to Dr. Kim who did a thorough eye exam, explaining each step along the way. A little thrown that I would need progressives or two pairs of glasses (because I'm having issues reading on the computer at work), April sat with me, answered all my questions, consulted me on the specifics of my insurance, and helped me try on a few pairs of glasses. Everyone I interacted with at SEE was friendly and professional. Most importantly, I never felt pushed like they were trying to sell me anything. They were patient and let me leave to sleep on my next steps. Some of the best customer service I've gotten. Highly recommend! read more

i have been wearing glasses for 30 years, and in the 30 years i have had to shop for glasses, the experience i have had at SEE has been hands down the best such experience I've ever had anywhere. not only is the variety super expansive (particularly for more alternative frames), the are frames cute and far more reasonable than other eyewear shops around the city, and most of all, the customer service is AMAZING. there is a reason i try not to buy glasses that often and that is because the whole experience fills me with anxiety and dread at the thought that i am going to be spending an hour sorting through a million lenses and trying the patience of the shop staff, but this experience was not only smooth, it was FUN -- i ended up picking glasses that i never would have went with otherwise if not for the super-attentive, patient and awesomely style savvy Apryl, who helped me for ages with total patience and clear enthusiasm for what she does. The whole staff was great -- one of the women (i don't remember her name) even offered to work with me because they are out of network for my eye insurance (when i say help, i mean, they will literally sit down with me and help me fill out all the paperwork). And the manager, who I have now met twice (and whose name is either Ana or Brianna, I sadly forget- so sorry!!), is also incredible -- even extending an offer to me to get new lenses for a pair of crappy old glasses that i have a sentimental attachment to (which, btw, other eyeshops had told me it would be impossible to do because the frames were old). The whole process was super easy, the glasses ready within a week each time, and to top it all off, they sent me a follow up, hand-written personal note (take that, e-correspondence!) to thank me for visiting the shop and telling me to swing by anytime if i needed anything. Whoever is at the heart of SEE eyewear has a great concept going, and an effin fantastic staff. These guys should be extremely proud of themselves...on top of doing what they are doing, they seem to have inspired my writing my first-ever yelp review! Came in one day after picking up my cat's ashes at VERG (he had a good long life but asthma was not his friend, poor guy). I needed to do something good for myself at that point and had been putting off shopping for new frames for some time. I have a cool pair of Aqua frames that I got at See a couple years back and love the quality of the manufacture as well as the aesthetics so when I saw the store front on Smith Street I thought why not. The store manager, Breanna, who was assisting another client was super friendly (her smile alone cheered me up) and Apryl was super helpful and got that I was looking for something different yet subtle. She didn't need to show me many pairs before suggesting a pair of translucent pale yellow frames that went well with my coloring and desire for classic structure. I didn't buy them that day but ended up going back with her card to make the purchase about a month later. She wasn't in that afternoon but Breanna remembered me (and my name) the minute I walked in and again she was engaged with another client but I was helped this time by Moshe. Don't let his reserve fool you...he has great taste, is super patient and wants to see you happy. I ended up getting the yellow frames along with a deeply discounted end of summer pair of sun shades and a third pair of awesome dark grey frames for everyday. Usually I don't buy multiple pairs unless I'm overseas but had a ton of flex spending to use up. So yah, if you like great quality, great design, and great service go to See on Smith Street.
