We arrived to small shop, that was fine but the first comments from the staff were not "hi welcome to All Points Sailing, you guys ready to have fun?" but " you see those papers? Grab two and fill them out" - wow, so much for service. None the less we trooped on hoping for a nice cruise. We were directed toward a boat and told to walk over, he elected to drive over in his truck. No kidding. We got on board and were instantly bossed around and given duties, the boat was older and smelled of mildew and old water down below. We were told that tips were customary but not mandatory as we cruised out?! ok. I would let my customer service skills award me tips, not reminding everyone. Let me sum this up, if you want to sail around on the water and enjoy the gulf and be put to work but a semi crass man, then sign up. If you want a refreshing, relaxing cruise with great customer service that makes the 40 min trip from Houston worth every min, then go some where else. BTW - they also offer food, I'm scared to know what that would be like. Good luck to others who used living social on this!

Bought a groupon for a 3 hour guided kayak tour through Armand Bayou. First disclaimer: the bayou…read moreis surprisingly gorgeous, wild and will immediately transport you to the Amazon. But I'm not reviewing the bayou, I'm reviewing the business as you can always come to the bayou with a different outfitter or on your own (though it would be hard to find the cool, narrow routes we took via the tour on your own). First off, the business is not well marked - it wasn't clear which building they were in and where their parking was; this could be easily improved with better signage. Second, the checking in process which includes signing waivers, getting your life vest and oars, and paying an additional fee was much more chaotic than it needed to be. They seemed to only have one clipboard despite 12 people in the group each needing to sign a waiver. They also tagged on an additional fee which you had to pay in CASH - neither the fee nor the cash only part were mentioned in the groupon fine print. Who is going to carry around a wad of cash when they are getting in a kayak and leaving their car in a parking lot for 3 hours? They could have easily communicated this beforehand and saved us the hassle of driving out to find an atm which then charges a fee since the nearest one is unlikely your own bank's branch. The guide gave us an odd intro in the parking lot after the very long check in process. He seemed to be trying to scare people: "So, who here has a problem with alligators?" How are you supposed to answer that? I felt bad for individuals from other countries who were clearly confused and maybe didn't know that alligators are pretty normal here and don't bother you. He then spent 10 minutes figuring out the order of our car procession as you each take your own vehicle on a 10 minute drive to the Armand Bayou parking area (they could have easily avoided this by giving us address/directions beforehand) and we were each to memorize the make and color of the vehicle in front of and behind us and remember a series of verbalized "first left" and "third right" etc. Again, unnecessarily chaotic. Once you're finally all in the water, it feels great. You start out in the open and then get into narrow channels with dense brush and the guide does a great job of pointing out wildlife - mostly birds and several alligators. I truly felt like I was in South American jungle instead of Houston for those few hours. The guide gives a few much needed breaks (I'm in decent shape running/biking/weight training at least 5 days a week and still found the breaks helpful as kayaking works particular muscle groups in your arms/back and can make your lower back and bum pretty sore). It's an out and back route and the nice thing is that once you get back to the Armand Bayou parking lot, you can head home from there. I would definitely come back to Armand Bayou, but I would try a different company or probably just rent a kayak next time and explore on my own.

I booked a sightseeing tour to learn a little more about the historic and cultural insights of this amazing city. The husband and wife team who owns and operates this company are so nice and do everything they can to make sure you have a great time while on tour. In addition to sharing information about the area you are exploring, they also share their personal insights and recommendations about places to visit on your own after the tour. We had such a fun time riding around the city in the golf cart and appreciated the flexibility and ability to book the tour during a time that worked for us. They offer a variety of different tour options and I look forward to booking with them again on a future visit to Houston.

I went with 7 friends, you enter at Gate 8 off of Clinton Drive, just tell the security guard you are there for the tour. There is a nice plaza to wait at right next to the boats. The parking lot is safe; let's face it, the only folks getting in have to pass security! A bit before 10 am one of the employees came out to check everyone in and handed out bottles of cold water which was great as it was almost 90 degrees outside in full sunlight. We boarded and were asked to sit inside while they got underway. One of the shipmates gave a safety talk and then we were free to go outside. The boat moves along at a pretty good pace, every now and then it slows for tug boat traffic. You get to see the industries that are along the ship channel. There are lots of big ships and also small ones. Some are loading or unloading, others are being repaired or a clean coat of paint. The shipmates serve coffee for the adults on the way and after turning around after about 45 minutes they offer cold water and soft drinks. There are so many photo opportunities so take lots of pictures. You are asked to go inside while they secure to the dock, the air conditioning feels great. Then you are on your way. The entire crew was so nice, they were helpful and friendly and could answer questions. Please, if you plan to take children, keep them under control. While not dangerous, there are things to watch for so you don't trip and the doors for the cabin are very heavy and hard to open and shut quickly so a child could easily get hurt. In addition, severe weather conditions developed, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. Due to these unsafe conditions, we did not feel comfortable proceeding with the tour and communicated our concerns to both crew member Alexia and Captain Jason. Alexia stated that they do not typically operate the barge in weather conditions such as these. She also contacted her manager, Conner, who initially offered us the option to reschedule for a later time or another day. We explained that this was not a reasonable solution, as we were visiting Houston from out of state and would not be able to return at a later date. After spending approximately an hour and a half discussing the situation and expressing our safety concerns, Manager Conner ultimately provided us with a gift card instead of issuing a refund. Throughout these discussions, certain statements regarding a refund were made and later retracted. Because we do not live in Houston and are unlikely to return in the foreseeable future, the gift card holds no value to us. We are respectfully requesting a full refund to the original payment method for a service that we were unable to use due to unsafe weather conditions. We believe this is a fair and reasonable resolution, particularly because rescheduling was not a practical option for out-of-state visitors. Additionally, we have substantial evidence documenting the events that occurred, including communications regarding the delay, the hour and a half spent attempting to resolve the matter during what was intended to be a celebration for a bride-to-be, and evidence showing that staff members viewed and interacted with our social media accounts following this incident in a manner that we believe was inappropriate and concerning. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to receiving confirmation that a full refund has been issued to the original payment method.

The Bed was like sleeping on top of a picnic table- very hard . The cabin next door has a flood Light mounted under eve that shines directly into our bedroom window . I'm leaving exhausted - BUT is very clean and fresh . The shaded parking provided for cabins is nice since there aren't any trees .The two Rvs in family felt space was over priced.

FREE FERRY RIDES! Galveston Island's Port Bolivar Ferry takes you directly to a neighboring…read moreisland/port. Rides can be found at both Port Bolivar and Port Aransas. Locals/visitors even use the ferries to transport their cars! An observation deck is located at the middle of the ferry to enjoy sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico. Apparently people have seen dolphins during ferry rides! I didn't, but I'd definitely want to try to seem some next time. The deck had both indoor and outdoor sections. The inside had refreshing AC, observation windows, and bathrooms! Outdoor sections (for those who want to get closer, like me) hardly have shade but you'll catch a nice breeze. The ferry was an incredible experience for me, I love islands and boat rides. I saw families taking the ferry together, it's very kid-friendly and cars are parked in dedicated spots while the ferry is in motion. Pedestrians unboard first! Note: The entrances to the ports almost felt like a border crossing, it's pretty busy here. Each port has a visitor center with a restroom, information pamphlets, and vending/water machines. Parking is free if you're simply going for a cruise and don't want to take your car on the ferry ride.
