Sweet treats (dark chocolate raspberry creams, cashew brittle, milk chocolate mocha, milk chocolate cherry cream cordial)!

We love to stop by for a little treat at See's whe we're at South Shore. Mievel was an absolute gem, making us feel so special and welcome. (I am so sorry if I misspelled your name!!!) Sees often does a fantastic job of hiring people who are wonderful at hospitality and customer service. Keep up the sweet treats and lovely service! Thank you!

We came here for some delicious chocolates. It was Saturday afternoon so the shop was busy. The line moved quickly, the store staff was helpful and moved the line quickly. They offered us a sample, (one that had been left on the counter) from a previous customer. So I requested something else and the clerk gave me a fresh sample. I had 6 cups of candy plus a piece of fudge, and 4 caramel lollipop's. Yum!

@ South Shore Center 2244 S Shore Ctr Alameda, CA 94501 High quality products never go out of style, and the old fashioned quality of See's Candy is still the same. What changes are the prices and the level of customer service at the store. Back in 2008, a 1-pound box of candy cost about $15, now its over $30. I was at the Alameda shop on a Saturday afternoon. I picked out a box of candy and got in line. The young man behind the counter was barking at customers in a loud voice like an Army Drill Sergeant. He spoke like a robot. He spoke to every customer the same way. You need to bring back the nice and polite lady cashiers. This guy doesn't belong in customer service. Thanks for the free candy (sample).

My husband and I love to order a custom box and split it 50/50. You can get about 26 pieces so 13 each. My absolute favorite is Milk Rum Nougat. I usually need at least 4 of those. Then I fill the rest of my half with Milk Mayfair, Milk Cherry Cordial, Dark Almond Nougat, Milk & Dark Coconut Cream. My husband's favorite is Dark Scotchmallow. Then the rest of his are Dark Butterchew, Milk Almonds, Milk California Brittle, Milk Almond Square, Cashew Brittle and Kona Mocha. We both like truffles - him the Dark and Light Chocolate, me the fruity ones like Pineapple. Splitting a custom box of favorites means we both get exactly what we want. Currently a custom box is a little more expensive than a generic one pound/premade assortment. $33.50 vs. $31.00 but worth every penny! This location had wonderful staff working. I told her my favorite was Rum Nougat and she's the one that turned me on to the Almond Nougat. I love See's!

It may seem strange to give a review to a "chain" like See's but this particular location is magical. The staff are as sweet as their offerings and are especially kind to children. My kids love coming here and checking out the seasonal flavors and, of course, getting free samples. We were happy to see before Christmas that pretty much everything sold out! Nonetheless, we were able to nab some limited edition Mint Cream Lollypops and some white chocolate cashew brittle. If you have never been to See's, I would recommend their dark chocolate scotchmallows and Butterscotch Lollypops (I really wish they would bring back the Peanut Butter ones!). Ask for a sample if you are unsure but I believe with such an extensive menu, there is something for everyone!

Crinkly bag if you don't want a big box full of chocolate goodies!!

Thanks Johnnie for your quick response. I just visited today and while I thought there's never a problem with exchanges, I received commentary such as hopefully no more returns. Just to set the record straight, I thought See's welcomes exchanges. I have never "returned" anything, only made exchanges for UNOPENED items. I was disappointed but didn't want to engage in confrontation as I was rushing out the door to meet a friend to deliver her See's holiday gift. Never a problem before but now it seems like after this experience, I will take my business elsewhere. I wish you and yours all the best. Take care.

White mint truffle sample

I stopped by See's Candies to buy a gift for a friend's birthday. I didn't know what to get so I got a box of their assorted chocolates which seemed like a safe choice. I couldn't believe that a box of chocolates cost $31 now. The women that worked here were so nice. They greeted me as I walked in and asked if I needed any help. They even offered me a free sample and their limited time white mint truffle was delicious. This was a small location but there was plenty of room to walk around. It was very clean and organized. I liked that they had a simple selection of chocolates to choose from which made buying much easier for me.

I like this place a lot and it reminds me of my childhood. This is located in the South Shore Centre in Alameda right next to the beach. Service is on point. The gentlemen present there was eager to show me around and have a mini tour of what they have in season. Lovely day of the dead and autumn collections for the time being. All very garish. The ambiance is casual and hasn't changed since I've been alive and going. The classic checkered floor and as always the sample is there if you go in. Went in for some classic dark chocolate raisins and some suckers. It's a small place but they always have a nice treat for yourself or your loved ones. Closest BART would be Fruitvale and AC Transit buses 20 and 21 are nearby.

For those who don't know what the Dubai chocolates are, they are milk chocolates filled with shredded phyllo dough and pistachio cream. My first impression was whether or not I had walked into an art gallery or a confectionary shop. Uh...turns out both! According to their website, the owner and her partner were originally artists prior to becoming chocolatiers. This place just screams creativity and their chocolates are ethically-sourced and almost too pretty to eat. They even have a backroom gallery to showcase local artists' confectionary-inspired works. We couldn't find the Dubai chocolates, but one of the employees approached us and asked if we needed any assistance. Turns out they were in the back and they had just received a shipment! The Dubai chocolates were nutty, crunchy, flaky, and velvety all in one! Pricey, but worth trying. Also, might I just take a moment to say I absolutely adore the shop's name! It almost looks like "XO Chocolate" as in kisses and hugs, bu also reminded me of the language of the ancient Latin American civilizations and - fun fact - Xocolatl (you see the play on words?) means chocolate (literally means "bitter water") back when they would mix purely cocoa and water as a drink. If I'm not mistaken, this business is Latina-owned, so perhaps that was intention? So clever and, either way, kudos to them!

I like the convenience of having things sent directly to my house and it's like Christmas every month! For the Little Artisan Box, I like how there are different levels of subscriptions: 1) Monthly, 3 Months, 6 Months, 1 Year 2) Small or Large Boxes (approx. $25 or $50 per box) This makes it easy to customize how long you want to commit to this program and flexible with your budget. Other perks: + Local food + Seasonal flavors + Beautiful packaging I got a few goodies from local Oakland eateries (including Oaktown Jerk and Chunky Pig) in the Oaktown Pride sample box. I would definitely consider getting a subscription for a foodie friend's birthday and/or Christmas.
