I'M A KID IN A CANDY STOREEEE ! Dropped by Bay Street to kill some time while visiting my friend in Berkely and to my pleasant surprised discovered there was a It's Sugar here. The only other stores I've been to are at Universal City Walk and inside Universal Studios. Immediately walking in the giant NERDS boxes caught my eye. Much smaller than the CityWalk store but is it packed from wall to wall with confectionary goodies. If you're looking for a unique gift or a something different, I'd come to this store. It's kinda messed up to walk out of Teacake Bake Shop and see IT'SUGAR. Why? Because after buying cookies, I walk in to check it out but end up leaving with a bag full of sour gummy candies. Lots and lots to choose from. If eating sugar is not enough, you can even wear it since they sell clothing too. I like that the bags are resealable because I don't end up with spilled sugar in my purse...stupid twist ties. Self-serve bins...dangerous. It's way too easy to keep filling and filling when your eyes are wider than your stomach. As I sit here writing this review, I'm eating my candy and wishing I bought more. The place is well lit and smells soooo good :) Tons of candy and chocolate to choose from. I bought 3 bags of candy, most filled with my usual picks: coke bottle gummies, sour apple gummies, chocolate covered gummy bears, strawberry puffs, & sour watermelon patches. I also purchased a wide assortment of Jelly Belly and M&M's in 2 custom colors, Tiffany Blue & White. So pretty! Near the cashier was a HUGE gummy bear. I love gummy bears but in this gigantic size it looked kinda gross. This specific location stocks some of the greatest sweet treats around in a variety of sizes, some practical and many that are best suited as a gag gift or collectible. The atmosphere here is always inviting, as you pass by the entrance; the inner fat kid inside of you will be hyperventilating at the sight of sugar and will more than likely want to at least browse the shelves as the scents and sounds draw you in. The ersatz Raisinets were waxy and flavorless--I stopped eating them before we were even done with the previews in our movie because they were so disappointing. Some of the gummy candies also were substandard, grainy and bland, clearly another case of sourcing low-quality product and taking advantage of a captive audience. I was very much looking forward to my first visit to this store. I walked in and was immediately struck with joy at the decorations of the mannequins wearing candy clothing. I immediately knew I had to create my own pick and mix assortment box of gummy bears for my boyfriend, who is obsessed. I coiled a 7-inch gummy snake at the top as an extra little visual. I'm also going home with two marshmallow guns for the best kind of war ever. I might even be able to use them in children's events at my library job.
