After Valentines Day's follows Easter and See's Candies has a wonderful assortment of chocolate bunnies, eggs and marshmellow goodies. Some of the bunnies are solid and some are hollow. Always bite the ear first not the tail. Be Nice!! I like the festive Easter decorations too, contrasting with the black and white checkerboard floor and white walls. This place is clean. Plus the help is super friendly and they give samples - Yes sample chocolates!! On this visit I purchased some chocolate suckers, some molasses chips and some chocolate creams. I did not get the scotchmallow candy, but I wanted to try a seasonal flavored lollypop...orange cream. Eight of them for $5.75. Of course, I had to get my favorite...a bag of 30 butterscotch lollypops for $16.75. I didn't get my free candy sample and that's okay. The ladies were pretty busy with other customers. read more

Dropped in yesterday around 5:30ish with my son and had 2 lovely ladies greet us upon walking in. Even tho the store was busy they still had time to answer questions with a smile. I'm that type of person that hates attitude. Today March 4, 2019, in the afternoon at 6:30. I went to the store with my mom. There was a mid 50 woman greeted us. Now, people, she has some attitude. There was not a single smile on her face. I didn't say anything as I thought that she might just have a bad day. Then she serves us, she said in an annoying voice "what do you want". I reply "I want a pound of chocolate and where dark chocolate". She replies with annoying tone and no respect tone " is over there...what do you want" The order went on at the end. How could someone not like See's?!?! Chocolate wonderland with so much sweets to choose from, old school white uniforms and a free sample. Came in to get a few pieces truffles and of course the free sample, yes I admit it I have no shame with my chocolate game. I walked out with a customized 12 piece truffle box and a smile on my face. Heading to a party in the evening and needing a hostess gift, we decided on getting some See's Chocolates. We checked out the large selection of box chocolates and decided on a nicely wrapped gold box of truffles. The ladies behind the counter were busily working to box and wrap special orders for customers. Though it was a slight wait, the lady who helped us was friendly and processed our transaction. I love See's and like another person mentioned, they're all See's. I recommend the Milk Bordeaux and The Milk Brown Sugary Squares. Not quite sure the name of those, but they sure are something. I have had an odd experience at this location before.... A young man boxed my chocolates upsidedown and it happened to be a gift- so it was pretty annoying. I watched him notice what he did and try to hide it. Dude- just excuae yourself and for marking a mistake and rebox them! I wouldn't have cared. The fact you tried to hide it is worse. Walking by one evening I saw a really mean, nasty, bitter and vicious older woman working here mess with a young woman at this store by locking her in the shop, with her friend outside. She started a bunch of yelling and got really inappropriate with these two people who did nothing at all to invite such treatment. I would NEVER support this shop because of what I saw. Out of all the See's locations, I frequent this one the most. It is close to where I reside. I love their Lollypops, especially the Cafe Latte & Butterscotch. Went in during Christmas season and the staff was absolutely amazing. They practiced strict COVID protocols and provided over the top customer service. They already had a line along the side of their building the night we went and it was 30 mins to closing. The staff came out to say they will keep serving as long as there are people in line. I called See's from my truck on the way out of work, desperately seeking a full pound of "dark chocolate, chocolate butter, with the chocolate inside not vanilla" .... I didn't want to drive from Oakland to alameda at light speed to make closing time only to find out that you were out of stock. I reached "Chris." He was SO professional, friendly, helpful, focused --- he said "I can make it for you ahead of time if you like." I took him up on that offer because I was in a rush to get home and feed the kids dinner but I needed the box for a going away gift for a friend who was moving the next day (it's the ONLY thing she wanted, the ONLY thing she said was worth packing). I got there .... Chris made the box, wrapped it, had it ready for me, was so thoughtful and helpful. I was so happy about how great he was it put me in an even better mood which means I bought waaaay more chocolate than I had intended. I love coming to See's Candies for their butterscotch lollipops. I am hooked to the little ones! They always greet us either when we come in or as soon as they finish helping their guest they are tending to. They always offer us a sample. I thoroughly enjoyed the past sample of chocolate covered randoms. I'm sad we don't have an actual shop back home but I can usually find it in a kios or at Dilliards. See's Candies was always a part of my holidays - redeeming a 1 pound gift certificate was a real treat. The quality of the chocolate is fine - not the best, but plenty tasty as a covering for various combinations of soft centers, nuts, and fruit. See's uses cane sugar, no preservatives, and no high fructose corn syrup. They offer a handful of sugar-free items - but even these items should still be eaten as a sometimes treat. Take a look at their Custom Mix list online to get an idea of the bonbons available; for my personal noshing, I much prefer to select a few handfuls in bags so I don't have the extra packaging, and knowing what's available in advance saves time. The women working in the Alameda store have always been friendly and courteous - even to large groups taking a long time to select a few candies to go with the free handouts. read more

Today at 8:58 PM I had a busy day and rushed to the Alameda CA, retail store. I got there at 7:59 and they close at 8:00. Door was locked with a line inside. I wanted to get gifts for mothers day. Stood there and waited for them to let someone out. Told them they closed early. Showed them my phone and it said 8:00. Waiting for a couple of minutes. Would not let me in. I said I was going to complain. It is Mothers Day tomorrow and I would think a big day for you guys. The girl did not care. Shrugged he shoulders and said there was a line and they would have to stay too late. I was amazed. The day before a holiday and you are sending away business. I get Christmas gifts at Sees, Employee Gifts, Customer Gifts, and was going to get Mothers day gifts. I was really upset. I am going somewhere else in the morning. Will never go to that Sees. I probably will change my gift giving from Sees candy to something else. Hickory Farms sounds good. Amazing that they are turning people away on they day before mothers day. I managed retail stores before and holidays were always an opportunity to increase the bottom line. The way retail is now you can not afford to be sending people away. I'm a huge fan of See's Candies. When I lived on the East Coast, I only really had two way to partake in See's Candies: (1) order online or (2) buy in bulk when in California visiting family. When I moved back to California, I was extremely excited to be living near a See's Candies location and to be able to have a beloved See's treat every now and then. My favorite See's Candies by far are the dark chocolate almond clusters. People been known to buy me a pound box completely filled with only dark chocolate almond clusters. This particular See's Candies location is in the South Shore Center. As always, every time you visit See's, you are offered a free sample, which is a great excuse to try something new or have an old favorite. See's also has sugar free options, which is great for my father - when he learned he was a diabetic, he was bummed that he wouldn't be able to eat any more of his favorite candies. But, once and a while now, he can at least have Sugar Free See's. read more
