We had a little time before our dinner, so we decided to stop into World Market. They have their own parking lot and if needed, they have metered street parking or a parking garage nearby. I enjoy shopping at World Market because they have so much to look at and to shop for. Come support your local business.

World Market is the fun adult playground equivalent for shopping, and I dropped by here after shopping at the Jack London Square holiday market (Joy to the Town) super close by to pick up more gifts. Nice size, not as large selection as other World Markets especially on the furniture side, but you'll find all the World Market goodies here (furniture, international foods, alcohol). Good sized parking lot for the store size and the store has a typical World Market semi-maze experience so you can barely navigate a shopping cart through some aisles. Staff were friendly, and thankfully directed me to where I could find Terry's Chocolate Oranges which I wanted to buy as a gift before I needed to dash to my ferry. Cashier was great in the same way Trader Joes cashiers are, and checkout was a breeze. Yes, you'll find some of their goods at a cheaper price in other stores, but no store does it like World Market with everything all in the same place all at once.

Love this place. It's just so dang expensive. I allow myself a trip here once a year during the holidays to gather unique goodies for self and others. First time at this location. I got lucky with parking, and the long check out line moved pretty efficiently. I wish we had more locations!

Dropped by to check out their end of Christmas sale at 60% off & was welcomed by a plethora of Chinese New Year items in the front. For the after Christmas sale items I ended up buying a Nutcracker stocking for my 3.5 yr. old Schnauzer & a tin of Harney & Sons Celebration tea that has Apricot, hazelnut, cinnamon, and spice. This tea was a Hanukkah edition curated tea blend, so I'm excited to try it out. In preparation for Chinese New Year on Feb.17,2026 the Year of the Horse, I bought a bag of Lucky candy. It was hard not to buy the special new year tea's like Whittard's Peach Oolong or Lucky Lychee black tea or Harney & Sons 2026 Chinese New Year of the Horse, but I refrained bc I have so many other teas at home to finish. Customer service was great when I had questions regarding the tea's & about my membership status. Taking a visit to World Market made me remember how much I love shopping here & getting unique items.

Time for an update. Just noticed not one picture was linked. For sure it is time for an update. Quality/Quantity - Back in the day this was my go-to place for exotic wines, beers, and bulk candy. My wife's go-to place for stuff... So everyone was happy. A win win. This is just a great place to shop or "window shop." I just feel like a kid when I'm here, discovering new things and new foods. If I was not on another health kick, I would have stocked up on those new varieties of Honolulu Cookies and Haribo Candies! Atmosphere - Clean and organized. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm, and on Sundays from 11am to 6pm. Free and plenty of private parking. Service - Like your concept, sold at cost + 10%. This used to be the Costco model. Always plenty of employees if you need help. Price - Depends on what you buy. But in my opinion, they are reasonably priced. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1958 with your 258 locations. Also nice that your headquarters is in Alameda, CA.

My favorite cost plus in the area, huge and full of furniture (cute couches, chairs, rugs, etc), tons of snacks from Asia and all over, and aesthetic home decor. Seasonal items, right now in summer it's strawberry. Mochi cake mixes, unique jams great for matcha drinks, etc. Perfect matcha glasses and stuff for the home. Unbelievably large amount of snacks, cookies, spices, and other goodies. Perfect place to get a gift and always sales and coupons.

First time here - I was greeted by a nice gentleman working at the front desk- I saw another woman with her leashed dog so I asked do you allow dogs? He said yes! We love dogs you can bring them in! So I went to get them from the car. I came to this location specifically (I have never been to any) looking for something specific I couldn't get at the closer location or online. My dogs were leashed a 100% behaved. They never barked at anyone in fact I was only really near one person one time for half a second. Maybe in the store 10 mins MAYBE... I was shopping and looking at something and a very rude old lady with long hair appeared from a distance with another customer saying "we require dogs to be on a short leash, I don't like dogs and some other people also don't like dogs and i replied with they are on an appropriate 6ft leash they are quiet and standing by me, "yeah I know but I don't like dogs and I need to go where u are" I said well you didn't need to be rude and you could just say you need to look at something near by, in fact she didn't actually need to go where I was, I was looking at pillows and she wanted to look at the furniture behind her. With that I told her to have a great day and I sat my stuff down and left and I unfortunately won't return. I too was a paying shopping customer who asked permission to bring her dogs who were behaving into the store and was treated rude and disrespectfully just because said employee doesn't like dogs. I'm sorry but perhaps you shouldn't work somewhere dogs are welcome and maybe you are the actual problem and could use a dog in your life. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name and I wish I would have. Older woman with graying long hair past her shoulders rude with her apron on.

I love visiting Cost Plus. The store was clean and organized. The displays of food, furniture and housegold goods were set up well. The employees were very courteous, patient and kind with my questions. I will return again and again when I'm in the area. Thank you!

So I feel like I must be the first person to not know how amazing this store actually is. I walked in here and fell in love with this place! My husband and I walked around the entire store like giddy little kids that were on a treasure hunt for goodies. This place did not disappoint from the things to see, touch, smell and even taste! Yep they offered a free taste of their coffee on the way in or out. I can't say too many good things about this place. The staff is so friendly and helpful! Erin helped us a great deal because we were looking for specific keto type foods and she was nice enough to look them up on her phone finder thingy and walk us around the store until we found the items we were looking for. It was a really great experience to have such nice Customer service reps on hand that don't make you feel rushed or like your messing up their work flow. Honestly all the staff is that way. I love this store and can't wait to go back and see what amazing little things I find next!

Again, I'm a bit older so my appreciation may have grown. I appreciate the fact that they are a lot more spacious inside. Some of the things seem to have moved around a touch. But we found some things rather easily. I was in the area and sent my hubby here to look around while I picked up something across the street. I joined him and browsed and I'm glad. My favorite find is a coffee cup that said, "I'm dreaming of a diverse christmas." My second was a bit of xmas chocolates. But my husband walked away with a brand new tagin. He was super happy. I know why we visited this store so much when we lived in Oakland and I look for an opportunity to visit, next time I'm in the area.

Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience with the West Elm Emeryville store,…read morespecifically with Lana, the store manager. I own a design-build firm and was working on furnishing a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home in San Francisco. The plan was to purchase most of the furniture new, with West Elm and CB2 as the main vendors under consideration. Aside from a Saarinen table and a few rugs I already had available for styling, nearly everything else was going to be sourced new. I booked an appointment earlier in the week for Friday afternoon and adjusted other appointments to make that time work. Then, on Friday morning, Lana called and immediately launched into a very rude and dismissive conversation about the appointment. Rather than asking thoughtful questions or trying to understand the scope of the project, she made it clear that they did not want to come out if I was not guaranteed to buy something. She said they keep the option open in case it is "not worth their time." That was incredibly off-putting, especially considering I was already styling the home with West Elm pieces and seriously considering West Elm for a large portion of the furnishing package. As a design-build professional, I work with many vendors, and this is not how serious trade or retail relationships are handled. When I explained that the short timing, the disruption to my schedule, and the lack of professional communication reflected poorly on West Elm, Lana was dismissive again and said I had already made my feelings clear. Immediately after hanging up, she sent the appointment cancellation. The issue is not just that the appointment was cancelled. It is the tone, the assumption that my project was not worth their time, and the complete lack of professionalism from a store manager. Based on other recent reviews, poor customer service does not seem to be an isolated experience at this location or with West Elm more broadly. I was prepared to source a meaningful amount of furniture through West Elm, but this interaction made it clear that I should take the business elsewhere. I would not recommend the Emeryville store for designers, builders, or customers expecting professional service.

Ok, not a big deal, but we all kept thinking that they should fix the location across social media videos. We get there and parking isn't easy to find. You have to park in or around the other warehouses in the area or a couple of blocks away. After we found parking we made our way over and oh it was a huge disappointment to behold. I think we only stayed for a few minutes before we called it a bust and a waste of time. Do not, I repeat, do not believe the videos that these social media influencers are feeding your algorithm. There was so much trash, broken products, and some of the furniture that could be salvaged had ridiculous price tags on them. Some sets were incomplete, coffee mugs were cracked, tools rusted, and when asked about certain electronics working conditions they either didn't know or refused to check. Needless to say we were unimpressed and never coming back.

They've got so many choices and it was really hard to narrow it down but we ended up going with the Vihals 6-drawer dresser. We saw it in the showroom, took a picture of where in the warehouse it would be, and once we got to the bottom floor it was a breeze. What wasn't a breeze was putting the darn thing together. 3-hrs on a Sunday to build this dresser was no easy task but we made it happen. If there's one feedback, I think written versions of the instructions would be more helpful. The pictures aren't always clear cut and sometimes it's hard to know left from right. Maybe it's user error but some verbiage of instructions would've gone a long way. We opted to skip the food court this time around because our last few times eating there it just wasn't as good as it used to be. After checkout though, they have a meatball sundae, which comes with 3 meatballs, mashed potatoes, and their berry sauce. It's a solid snack for $2.50ish. Their spicy mustard actually paired well with everything. I had the lowest of low expectations but actually it was quite nice to tide me over until we made it to actual lunch.
