It's so nice to have any sort of vegan offerings in the area and they have some great basic ones! I ordered the tropical smoothie which was really nice but could have been bigger as I drank it really quickly and normally it takes me a while to finish a drink but I was done with it in less than 2 minutes. We also each got a really nice vegan cupcake and while it was delicious, it was very crumbly and made a mess on both of us. The frosting was fabulous and made up for the crumbles. We just went for a morning treat but we'd be back for some of their other offerings like the falafel wrap for example. Definitely worth a stop in if you're vegan and need a quick, clean bite but also of course many more options for non vegans as well. read more

Is ordering thru the kiosk the only option? I walked up to the counter to pay for an item from the cooler and the person behind the counter looked at me, - then walked over to the coffee order she was working on. I didn't need her to "drop everything" and wait on me but even a nod or a grunt or some type of recognition that she saw me would have been awesome. A "good morning, I'll be right with you" would have made me smile. Instead I was disappointed and annoyed and left the item on the counter and left. We were so disappointed in this place. coffee grounds in my coffee that tasted old/ bitter and my food lacked flavor. My daughter couldn't even eat half of her dish. She had no appetite the rest of the day as her stomach was soured. The employees took a while to acknowledge us - and when we got to table it was sticky, the first few red flags with saw. We made a stop here on the way home from Bar Harbor after I searched for "gluten free breakfast" right here on Yelp. I ended up ordering the breakfast bowl and a side of gf silver dollar pancakes, along with a chai latte with almond milk. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito and a cortado. The pancakes were honestly some of the best that I've ever had and were nice and fluffy. The breakfast bowl was also very tasty and had a lot of fresh veggies, but I think it was drowning in sauce a bit for my taste. The chai latte was delicious, but it took a long time after my husband received his coffee for me to get mine. Somehow Selah (which means: pause and calmly think about that) crept on my radar a couple years ago, but I had never had the opportunity to check it out. Finally I got the chance to spend a couple hours there... and I'm in love. Especially since they practice what they preach: this truly is a place to take a moment of respite and reflect. The wide open room has plenty of space for people working on computers to spread out (with plenty of outlets to choose from), for old friends to catch up, for students to study, and for quick lunch breaks from locals. And from a high-top bar in the middle of the room, to wooden tables seating two or four, to couches - there truly is a place for everyone here. Once you order, you grab a number and take a seat. The lovely staff brings everything out to you. As long as you respect their rules (wifi for customers, don't take up more space then you need, speak in respectful tones) they don't rush you. I was there for an afternoon working and they seemed abundantly accommodating (one girl passed by me and just asked real quick if I needed water or anything even though they don't have table service here... FANTASTIC customer service). Now, what I ordered: + a large French press with soy milk - I was given a coffee timer to know when to pour; there was enough coffee for three cups for me. The staff also reassured me I could have as much soymilk as I needed and to be shy asking. I thought that was a kind gesture. + a molasses cookie - the girl who took my order talked me into one as she animatedly and emphatically told me they were vegan, fresh, and came from a generations old recipe. It was a gentle sweet that was balanced and delicious without being sugary. - an avocado egg sandwich - my least favorite thing about my experience at Selah. It was embarrassingly small, dry, and flavorless. Some hot sauce would have really helped it. I wouldn't order this or recommend it, but it was such a blip on the radar of an otherwise perfect afternoon that my feelings are unaffected by it. If Selah was closer to me, I would absolutely be a regular. I could easily see myself working from here once a week, and getting my coffee/tea to go a few times each week as well. I will absolutely come out of the way and make it a point to come back here in the future. Selah Tea is a great local coffee shop for Waterville. The menu includes breakfast options, sandwiches, salads, and even flatbreads now. They also have a reach-in fridge with ready-to-go teas, drinks, and pastries. It is a little pricy, though I suppose that's what you get for organic, fair trade coffee. Many pay more at Starbucks! Selah does have really good coffee drinks. Their cold jar is amazing - espresso, cream & sugar shaken over ice - so good! Pre-pandemic it was served in a mason jar - hope it gets back to that soon (tastes better that way). Happy to see that it has continued to thrive this past year. First of all, the tea, which is, ironically, often forgotten by many patrons, is incredible quality. You can even blend different ones together and then they bring you a French press, a tea cup, and a timer after you sit down. My favorite is the long-island strawberry and the energy. They've even made me a special wellness blend when I was sick with five different teas in it! And it made me feel better! Secondly, this place has excellent service. It can get busy, but the staff is always extremely kind and it's always nice to have your food and drinks brought to you in a cafe environment. Third, the coffee, in addition to the tea, is also superb. Their drip coffee is easily the best in central Maine. No joke. That's including Starbucks or any other local coffee shop in the area. It's because their beans are legit. On top of that, the cold jar drink they make is delicious and always wakes me right up. That's my wife's favorite drink. All of their lattes are good because their espresso is good. Fourth, it's a great environment for everyone. Selah somehow balances a vibe where all kinds of people from all walks of life feel welcome, you can hide away and work, people meet there all the time for coffee dates, groups meet there often, and my two little kids are always welcome, with toys and coloring books by the merch for them to play with. Most places it feels like my kids are an inconvenience, but not at Selah. The deserts are killer, especially the peanut butter truffles and early grey chocolate cake. Oh yeah, the food itself is actually QUITE tasty, and I appreciate that there are menu items for cheapskates like me (like the early bird breakfast special) as well as the more standard fast-casual pricing for the rest of the menu. Favorite lunch item: curry chicken wrap. The grapes really make it for me. The owners, btw, are always sweet as can be. I've been visited by them several times at my table and if anything has ever been not quite what I was expecting the staff was happy to fix it and make the experience even better. All in all, Selah is a little slice of Heaven in downtown Waterville, representing for several years now the potential of what this town can be, and what it is more and more quickly becoming. I'm leaving this review because I've been going to Selah for five years and they've never let me down. So it's about time.
