A good breakfast with a Maine twist. I was at the Augusta House of Pancakes which served a good breakfast with dishes reflecting Maines heritage. I had the Downeaster. Hash browns, French toast, eggs and sausage. The hash browns were nice and crisp very well cooked. French toast light and tasty and the sausage and eggs cooked to perfection. Well worth the price and the trip. By the way, the prices are very reasonable, great value! This restaurant is family friendly, plenty of seating. And our server Megan helped us with our menu selection extremely courteous and professional and fun. I'm looking forward to coming back to the Augusta House of Pancakes in the future. read more

Over the last 5 years AHOP has consistently had the most amazing staff watching and helping us with a celiac and gluten allergy and every time they communicate cleanly and clearly to the kitchen and we have enjoyed great old school real diner experiences!! OMG!!! Ok, so I was visiting Maine for vacation and looked this place up and saw good reviews! Well, we went.! The parking was easy and we had no issues with that at all. When we walked in, and were told to sit anywhere and the lady was really nice and pleasant. I looked over the menu and ordered The Meat Lovers Omelet, some hash browns, and pancakes. I truly truly truly have to say that the omelet was the best omelet I have ever had. I swear the chicken who laid the eggs, was a king and queen because the omelet was fresh, fluffy, and delicious. Talk about a quiet table, lol. We said NOTHING for about 20 minutes while we ate. It was so good. Even the toast was good, the jelly, everything. The customer service was good too. I didn't make a new friend or anything, but our waitress was intentive and pleasant and checked on us just enough. I really enjoyed this restaurant. Did you know it was a house first? You can tell while sitting there and it gave us a nostalgic remembrance of grandmother's house in the country. The restaurant was really cozy. I loved it. If I am ever in Maine again, I will make my way to AHOP again for sure. read more

This is a no frills diner with great prices and service. It's a happening place, but you don't have to wait long, even if there's a line. It's been around for many years (there's a wonderful framed ad for their bank that was fun to check out, probably from the 80s). They are CASH only, though they have an atm right in the restaurant. There's lots of parking behind the place, don't be worried that it looks like there's not much from the street. I loved the biscuit, which was grilled, and my omelette that tasted like real eggs. My fiancé has been coming here for a while but this was my first time to join him. I think we are going to make this a birthday tradition! I can't think of another place in Augusta that would be similar to this, so it's definitely packed, it's on the way to a lot of western Maine so I think it probably gets busy in ski/snowmobile season too. read more

I've come here for breakfast quite a bit and it's generally very good. The breakfast is always very well made, fresh tasting, and the service is fast. So I decided to try lunch today. I ordered a BLT Wrap.... And they seem to have forgotten the bacon in most of it. One half had a partial slice of bacon inside it (like half a piece), and the other half was just tomato and lettuce (pictured). My bf ordered breakfast which was amazing. We had the Belgian waffles - pretty average in size, flavor, etc. Three things stood out: 1) it's cash only, but there's an ATM in the restaurant, 2) it's a lunch and dinner place also, and 3) it's for LOCALS. Service was quick and friendly. It was a Sunday morning and busy, but we never had to wait long for the waitress. The Best Eggs Benedict I've ever had! They make their own Hollandaise fresh, and the Canadian Bacon was thin sliced and piled high. I asked for added spinach. Our server was super friendly and fast and very attentive. Coffee was smooth and not bitter. Orange juice was fresh squeezed. This is now one of my favorite breakfast places. As the Mainer's say I am "from away". That means I don't live in Maine. We stopped here for lunch. We ordered sandwiches. Mine was a chicken club. They use fresh pulled chicken and it was sort of dry, but good. Overall, we have to rate the food as okay, nothing particularly special. What was a surprise, was the fact that they only accept cash. I suppose there may have been a sign somewhere to indicate this, but I sure didn't see it. This was not an issue, we had sufficient cash. However, I am always suspicious of establishments that only deal in cash. And, I would also imagine the state board of equalization shares the same... Very memorable. First, asked for a mask and was furtively welcomed in to a table, not after being passed up by a couple who clearly came in after me (party of one). Waitress got a little "prickly" when no butter for the pancakes was emphasized. Did not finish all of the pancakes. They started to taste a little "boxy" after a while. Became laborious to eat. Hash browns were excellent. Compliments to the chef. They were cooked well (not greasy or burnt) and had plenty of grilled veggies on top. Asked for additional napkins, and was given one (1) section of a perforated paper towel. High note: AHOP is cash only. The check was $10.21. So when the server brought back the change, there were no coins. She gave me back $10.00 even, so I actually got tipped $0.21 to eat there. Nice. read more

Before I say good things this is a CASH ONLY Business. It cost me $2.75 extra with their ATM machine that's so conveniently placed in their lobby. I assume they on it probably and make extra money. I asked about way or when they expect to use credit cards and they said this is the way my grandfather has always done it and he tried it once but that was it. Well for you cash only people here is a positive review. Very surprised and happy here. Always in a rush never stopping but today Inam glad I did. Coffee was hot and great! Eggs Benedict and home fries where perfect. The staff was very nice so you make your choice about this place. 2020 you would figure they would take credit card but I guess the 2% service charge they would pay for a $20 breakfast is too much for them. So heading home we needed to find a place for get breakfast. No one every wants to eat at a rest stop so with a little help from a gas station employee we found this place. My yelp app wasn't working...just saying. We walked in and I glanced at the specials on the wall but nothing popped out for me. So if you go to a pancake house, why wouldn't you order pancakes right? So that's what I ordered with a side of bacon. Other dishes ordered at the table was more pancakes and eggs, a breakfast burrito, and more eggs with a bagel. The pancakes were worth the stop in my opinion. I didn't hear anything bad about the rest of the food either from my breakfast guests.
