Francisco the tile expert, doing the tile work. We picked out what we wanted from Floor and Decor in Pleasant Hill, they handled the project from that point on and did an amazing job. Each day they told us what was happening next and cleaned up the days work you could not even tell they had made a project that day...Everything turned out how we described it to them, it was done in Jan. 2026 and by Feb. 1 a month later, we had a new beautiful tiny bathroom, I would recommend Gable and his team for any remodel. I feel they are honest, professional and have all their credentials. TThey answer when you call, and return texts, they are also very enjoyable and have the best solutions to problems that you think can't be fixed, they turned our mess around and took complete control of what mess we were in from our contractor not knowing, I cannot say enough great things about GABLE PAYNE and his team. We will definitely be forever grateful and will call them again when we need help. I give them 10 stars. His company asked for more money than agreed and was very late on the agreed timeline. All of which, from our personal experience, we can believe to be true. To add to this, several of Gable's subcontractors stated that Gable did not pay them on time, or at all. Buyer beware!

He was on time and he started drilling without following my instructions of using my previous drill…read moremarks as a guide for where to drill (just not in the exact spot but next to the mark) since I had done accurate measurements. Now the curtain is an inch from the floor. He drilled the holes before asking me how I was hanging them but that would only cause about a half inch difference. I'm not sure he's hung curtains before because the rod on each end is in alignment with the window and decorators use 1-3 " from the window. My marks were about an inch away from the window on either side. The job took an hour for $125 which seems high. After he left I found the right bracket holding the rod wasn't flush to the wall. This was my original issue and that's why I had contacted him to come out. I was told the wall was plaster and I think that's why he charged more because it's a pain to deal with. Turns out it was sheet rock. Anyway, I will be moving the rod out to accommodate a wider curtain and I'll probably move it down to where it should be so it was a waste of money.

He put up lattice work to give us shade, and attached it to the pergola in a way that will stand up to the high winds we often get here - and not only that, he gave it some architectural detail that makes all the difference. It's beautiful as well as functional. Robert is a visionary, and a skilled craftsman for sure. He's also well versed in every kind of handyman job you can imagine. His rates are very reasonable, he communicates very well, arrives at the job site on time, and in general, is absolutely wonderful to work with. He listens - and it's obvious that he cares about doing the very best job possible. I also had him do a few things inside the house, and again, he did a great job. She spent close to an hour with me on the phone and provided a rough idea of budget as well as ideas to make the job more cost effective. Following that, I spent several months and considerable time meeting with several other designers/builders in my area. As a result, my decision to work with MSK is based as follows: 1. They spent the most time and effort upfront to provide a realistic estimate and made every effort to include costs that others overlooked (i.e. asbestos abatement). 2. They were very clear about the process and scheduling for the job. The utilize an application that is transparent for both the client and themselves. It was very clear to me that responsibilities were well defined in their company. 3. They took the time to explain the details of the job to me. Prior to signing design contract, they were available to answer any questions or concerns I brought up. 4. Specific personnel would be assigned to my job. It would not vary throughout the duration. 5. The fact that they design AND build (from their own design) was appealing because that would minimize any discrepancies between a separate design company and a separate build company. Linda was my designer. Although she is now retired, she has many years of experience in design. She did an outstanding job in the new layout of my kitchen. In additions, she made other helpful suggestions of things that I was not aware of or had overlooked. To help me select materials, she assisted in every step with flooring, plumbing fixtures, tile, counter tops, etc. She made appointments with their vetted venders and we would go together to make the selections. Linda had a clear understanding of my preferences and guided me towards making sound decisions. I was very pleased with the trades people who performed the work. Joe was the lead carpenter. He was meticulous and took great pride in his work. He did an excellent job of installing the new cabinets, casing work and trim details. Shawn was the painter assigned to my project, and again, his expertise and experience was evident in the finished project. Jorge was the plumber for the job and like the others, his work efforts were appreciated and his abilities added to the job success. These individual's main concern was to do a job I was pleased with and I never felt their extra efforts or time spent were a burden to them. Like their vendors, MSK have several years of working with the subcontractors used for the tile work, electrical, counter tops and sheetrock. They were all professional, timely and courteous. Communication throughout he project was outstanding. Curt was my Project Manager. Any e-mails, text messages, concerns, etc. were addressed and answered promptly. The work areas were always clean at the end of the day and construction debris was removed promptly. The project came in on schedule and on budget. MSK did exactly what they said they would do. I was very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend MSK Design Build for anyone who is looking for a reputable company.

Starting out, my kitchen remodel was not a straightforward job as the property is part of an HOA…read morethat very particular on how things are to be done. Toupin Construction was able to navigate and work alongside the requirements of the HOA while not disturbing the other owners in the building. They were very good with details, details that come with experience working in an HOA environment. For example, when it came time to shutting off the water, they made sure to follow CC&R's and bylaws in regards to proper procedures. Furthermore, when their was a small accidental bump to a neighbors deck, virtually no visible cosmetic damage, Toupin Construction notified the HOA immediately and remedied the situation. I was never even contacted by the HOA or the neighbor, which tells me the handled the situation with the upmost professionalism. Prior to hiring Toupin Construction, we got bids from two other contractors. Their prices were within 10-20%, one higher and one lower, but the quality of the materials were inferior. They didn't inspire confidence in working with an HOA. The finished product is beautiful, we couldn't ask for more. We are grateful that Toupin Construction was able to fit us in their schedule and travel the distance to Tiburon. Honestly, I think it was just good timing because I couldn't get any contractors to cross a bridge to get bid in the beginning. They were within budget, finished in time and didn't gauge us because of our address. Lastly, as a fellow business owner I appreciate professionalism, follow through and quality workmanship.
