My husband attended PT at select for five months. The PT's and staff were fabulous. Great care and compassion. I am a nurse so I find myself assessing care. They worked with so many people with challenges and care was professional and compassionate. Will not hesitate if he or I need PT in the future! read more

I want everyone to know the truth about this place. The truth behind the smiles. It happened over a year ago, but every day I get angrier and angrier because of the misery that my beautiful husband had to experience there. It all started at Select Rehab Hospital. This place is incompetent and lousy. Their respiratory therapists and wound care nurses show up 2-3 times a week and miss half the problems. Select Rehab chooses not to employ them full time so they fail to catch new diseases. I just never thought it would happen to my family. They left my husband's neck and tracheostomy's tie unchecked for 10 days after his was moved to their facility. And when they finally bothered, they found red disgusting erosion that quickly made a hole in his neck. My poor husband got infected so badly that they had to use a pic line and heavy antibiotics to catch up. His collarbone and face were swollen, he was getting pneumonias, his state was sickening. He got so much sicker at the Select Rehab than he was at the actual hospital after surgery. He was transferred to them without a hole in his neck, without fevers, without pneumonias, without severe swelling or bleeding. I was calling his brothers with updates telling them how disgusted I was with Dr. Anastase and his cocky attitude. The wound according to his notes was supposed to heal fast and easy, but shocker, it never did. He didn't take my husband's wound seriously when he first saw it and by the time he realized the mess he was in, it was too late. The infection destroyed my husband's carotid artery and instead of going home from the Rehab, he was sent back to the ER in Denton, straight for another surgery. And that was another disaster, more bleeding. In his notes he colorfully describes how bad I sounded on the phone, but he conveniently skips the part why I was so upset. I got enraged because they missed the wound on my husband's neck which caused a mudslide of problems for us. That's why I wanted a different doctor, not Dr. A, and everyone we know told me I was right. He is unethical and disrespectful. When I read Dr. A's notes and let his brothers read them, everyone was livid. Badmouthing my husband saying "...the patient was intense, extremely involved and at times overbearing with care, tried to dictate care...?" What did he think my husband was going to do? Sit back and watch, wait for them to destroy him even more? What kind of doctor badmouths his patient and their spouse? Dr. A accused me of not liking his choice of physicians and wanting to take my husband to our doctors. It's not a crime and it's our right. He stated "Based on my prior knowledge of her behavior... the wife is quiet a barrier to any care and made it difficult to provide care..."? Is he out of his mind to say something like that about his patient's loved one? To accuse me of almost wishing harm to my husband? Those notes didn't just crush me and his brothers, they crushed my husband when I read to him what Dr. A said about us. Select Rehab dropped the ball and we paid for it dearly. I keep thinking if we had chosen a different Rehab hospital, like Medical City Dallas or UTSW, the doctors would've done their jobs properly caring daily for his neck, no hole, no infections. I hear every day that Select Rehab should be punished and held responsible for the neglect. People should think twice before they decide to go there. We made a grave mistake, bad decision by choosing the wrong Rehab and it changed our lives forever. read more

My Mom was there for rehab after having a stroke. Care was so/so in the nursing staff. Phillip in therapy was amazing & the only one we cared for. She moved rooms while being there after a week. She had some stuff that did not make it to her new room and then they couldn't find it. Let's just say it was expensive stuff and they couldn't find it, which I call BS somebody took off with some good stuff. So if you have any stuff that you don't want disappearing, I wouldn't suggest not taking it. I spoke to Amanda about this and she was supposed to look into it and call me back and never did. I had a lady call me by the name of Mary Ann call me this morning that wanted to know the progress on my mom and I proceeded to tell her that we weren't happy in what had happened and she said she would look into it and I just said she won't ever be coming back over there so I'm done with you and hung up. No I do not recommend this place whatsoever. The only reason my mom ended up there was because there was nowhere else for her to go unfortunately!! Take your loved ones someplace else!!! read more

I have been inpatient twice with total knee replacement and then continued care as outpatient and can say it was an overall great experience. The staff is kind and happy to help in anyway needed. The food is good and varied so it's not boring. It is very clean and kept in good order. I have continued my journey in outpatient and again exemplary is the word. They come to know you and attend to your needs. The push when needed and ease you in as needed. Sadly I am back with back issues and they are helping me greatly. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs rehab. read more

Was here as an inpatient and continued outpatient for several weeks. The staff was fantastic, great to work with. They were attentive to my input on how I was doing and I feel I received excellent care. I have had physical therapy elsewhere and this was by far the best care I have received. No complaints about anyone there. read more

I don't recommend this place. My dad was there for a week or two and complained about the staff mistreating him. My dad was not completely there mentally so it was hard to tell, but after repeat complaints by him there seemed to be something to it. But most concerning is that my dad had his cell phone with him and it suddenly went missing one day. My dad was bed ridden. He couldn't even get out to go to the bathroom by himself. Yet his phone somehow disappeared. The facility would not take any responsibility for it. I escalated it to their CEO and it still got denied. They said it may have gotten thrown in with their sheet laundry service, but would not do anything about it. My dad had to go back to the hospital for a while and when he was released again to rehab refused to go back to Select because of how they treated him. He ended up going to a place down the road in Denton and he was much happier there. I do not recommend Select at all. read more

I have been a patient at Select Rehabilitation hospital, multiple times over the past 5 1/2 years due to surgeries from an injury I sustained working in Afghanistan as a contractor. I have found the staff from the Nurses, Techs, food staff, admin staff, and PT staff to be completely TOP NOTCH. I have had 9 knee replacements, due to a severe Nickel Allergy that almost killed me, 2 major Staph infections that almost killed me and Double knee removal where I only had spacers on 2 occasions for 30 to 65 days. As well I had my rt knee removed for 94 days due to the listed Staph infections. As, I type this I know that if my right knee fails I will lose my leg. I will have to have it amputated above the knee due to bone stock lose. Hopefully years down the road, but with my Luck, who knows. LOL I tell you this because there is NO OTHER Place that will touch my leg during my recovery and needed PT recovery than SELECT REHAB. The IN Patient and OUT Patient PT Staff are Absolutely the Best. They push you hard to get to the needed Goals that it takes for one to heal from surgery. They discovered the signs and symptoms of my RSD and Psoriatic Arthritis even before my doctors did. I am metal from hip to ankle in my right leg and hip to mid shin in my left leg. My doctors did not believe that I would again, much less as well as I do now. The ONLY reason this is, is because of Select Rehab and their PT STAFF. I owe them everything and they have become Family. I have watched people whom have suffered Devastating Strokes come to Select Rehab. Upon arrival they and their families are scared and uncertain of the future. I have personally witness more time than not, that the same STROKE patient walk around the facility during their PT and speaking with staff. The PT staff knowledge of Neurological Issues and impairments is fantastic. TO personally witness a patient who had no Hope, walk and talk and live a life, that they nor their families ever believed possible is incredible. Bottom line is Select Rehab is wonderful. If you or a family member need great Physical Therapy, its the place to go. I have read some negative comments that have been left. So I will address them respectfully. I have had cold water and no pressure in my shower before. I told my nurses and techs and it was fixed within a timely manner. Its a Hospital and things happen. They offer everyday to help shower and dress each patient. If the water in an individual room is not satisfactory, they have a SHOWER ROOM where a patient can go. The other was with bowel movements. I hope the reviewer mother is doing well. Now, that review was posted in 2011. I was a Patient multiple times throughout 2011, and I was asked everyday, multiple times a day, by techs and nurses at shift change, if I had, had a bowel movement. So not understanding why that patient would have NOT been asked. Bottom line is if YOU have an issue, PLEASE address it with the staff, I did and was always taken care accordingly. I know this review is long, but after what Select Rehab has done for me, I felt it necessary. I wish I could name all of the staff by Name that have helped me, but I do not want to leave anyone out. Bottom line is they are ALL FANTASTIC!!! read more
