I saw Dr. Wagner because my DO thought I might have a torn labrum in my hip, as well as chronic…read moretendonitis in my shoulder (I know, I know, I'm a mess). Dr. Wagner appears to be the authority for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, which might help with the tendonitis, and was recommended for prolotherapy of the hip. As an aside, if you're looking to do RPR, make sure you don't have Aetna, as they are the only insurance that doesn't cover this procedure. My DO (who I've reviewed here) refers his patients to Dr. Wagner for prolotherapy of the hip because he does it under fluoroscopy (a continuous X-ray), which is important because the hip joint is such a deep joint you don't want to go in there blind. Dr. Wagner seems like a nice guy, and very knowledgeable in his fields. After the first visit he ordered an MRI with contrast. At the second visit he checked out the MRI and it turns out that I don't have a torn labrum so he was unable to help me, and by the time the second visit came around I had my tendonitis under control. However, his demeanor and his apparent abilities gets him four stars in my book, although it should be noted that I have not had that much interaction with him. One thing that should be known about him is that when the diagnosis deals with something that falls outside his expertise he gives very conservative advice. For example, if one were to have femur-acetabular impingement he would advice no running, rowing, cycling, or any weight lifting that puts additional load onto the hip, even if it doesn't cause pain. This is not a bad thing, but a good thing, playing it safe with issues he's unfamiliar with is very reasonable. I merely mention this because I feel like it should be worth noting.

It is interesting. I left a review on Dr. Wagner before but now it's gone. So posting again!…read more Agree with review on horrid bedside manner on other review sites. Run. Away. From. Here. I have NEVER had a medical professional speak to me like he did. Ridiculously condescending-in fact I couldn't believe I was in an actual Dr.'s office. He informed me: 'we know more about you than you realize. Oh yeah, we know all about you. More than you know...' Experience was horrible, just horrible. I went home and cried. I would never go back to this man nor this practice. I asked for details on procedures & he refused to share any info as I'd seen a different Dr. in the practice (once) some 4 years prior- and he said - you'll have to go back to prior Dr. and see what he thinks. When pressed for details on injections he just said 'we'll put in a little bit here and a bit there'- whatever the other Dr. you saw thinks. So I paid a consult for him to say nothing, be horribly condescending throughout the visit, send me back to another equally bad Dr. who I would obviously have gone back to if I'd liked initially.  I don't want to be contacted by anyone at NSPC, in fact I never want to visit an NSPC again.  I did end up finding an amazing regenerative doctor elsewhere. (I have never taken opioids/pain killers not was I seeking any from this doctor)

I unfortunately have had several surgeries and I was so fortunate to have found Elite Sports…read moreMedicine. I have been with several PT groups before them and I felt the care was cookie cutter. Knee injury? here are the set of exercises other PT groups will prescribe not targeting the exercises to how you are doing and your specific weaknesses. At Elite they treat each person like an individual and tailor your treatment to how you are responding and they always ask what is aggravating you on that particular day. Often you may come on with a specific pain like your back and they will recognize that it's actually your hip that is causing your back pain and you leave feeling better. They all work as a team so if you are with Anna one day and the next time Jeff you aren't starting over because their care overlaps and the communication between them has occurred before you even get there. I can't say enough, how impressed I have been with their knowledge base and caring for each patients recovery and success. I noticed the review from Dawn and she can't be more off base and I'm sorry she gave them a low star review because they literally have helped me get my life back after numerous surgeries. It is always a positive, pleasant place to go where everyone knows who you are and acknowledges you immediately. One of the reasons I chose them was they are privately owned so you don't become a number in the corporate machine mentality where they don't really care about your recovery or get to know who you are. You can't go wrong with Elite Sports Medicine and physical therapy. I would like to stop needing them but as long as I do I'm glad I have them as part of my care team.

My son has had a reoccurring hamstring issue and we came to see Dr. MacArthur because I was…read morereferred to him by my PT. First off, from the moment I called to make the appointment I was blown away, The girl that helped us was above and beyond friendly. She wanted to make sure I was seeing the right doc for the injury, regardless of the referral, and she said how wonderful Dr. MacArthur was & he was perfect for this type of injury. The office is brand new and very sleek and modern. Again the customer service was amazing. The girl behind the reception counter was friendly & efficient and the nurse was very kind & incredibly helpful. Dr. MacArthur was great! He was gentle and down to earth and my son was instantly at ease with him. He also was thorough in his examine & really took his time to explain the diagnosis. Very impressive practice & can't recommend them enough!!!

Fantastic service but horrible building design. The doctors here, staff, appointment system are…read moresuper efficient and professional. However, this is the most poorly designed building for people with sports injuries. The drop off zone has no handicap ramp for folks with mobility issues. Meaning no wheelchair or crutch accessibility for the drop off area. In fact, I call the drop off area the "danger zone trap for the disabled." Look at the drop off area photo. Especially when it rains, the separate pieces of stone get very slippery. After the danger zone maze of terror, your injured loved one now has to go through the American ninja warrior obstacle course and use the one sidewalk available to navigate around a expansive well manicured lawn to enter the building. It's immensely tiring for someone. Especially someone injured. I hope they make some design changes because the doctors visit alone could potentially could exacerbate injuries! Funny story - while I was writing this review an elderly patient needed to go to an attached building to get a vaccine. She noted that she was a nurse, it was raining, and "come on!" she didn't want to have to walk "all around the building in the rain!" To get to the other side of the building. Although the receptionist told the elderly nurse could not go through go the building, she did it anyways! Again, poor building design that does not focus on the patient experience.

Recently I attended a symposium at UVA for EDS (Elhers-Danlos Syndrome) and one of the things they…read moretalked about was "gaslighting" and that it was not only friends and family that gaslight those of us who have complained of the same symptoms for years and even decades, but also many in the medical field. I am writing this review a year later because I am still so darn mad at the treatment I received at Rapidan and want to warn others. Originally I went in for a tick bite, the nurse I saw was rude and completely discounted my concerns with the bite, telling me it was "normal" and when I explained that I had never in my life felt the actual bite from a tick at the moment it happened like I had with this one and that I was concerned about possible infections because I have hEDS, she snapped at me, telling me that it was impossible that I had EDS because I was 65 and would never have lived to be that age if I had EDS. I was shocked and explained that there are 13 types and that she was mistaken, that I did not have vEDS, the most severe type, but have hEDS, the most common type and those of us that have it certainly do live past 65. She voiced in an angry tone that I did not know what I was talking about and that the bite was nothing, again I reiterated my concerns and she again told me I did not know what I was talking about and left the room. Even though a year has passed, it bothers me that a medical professional would be that nasty to a patient, would have no clue that there are as many types of EDS and would discount a patient completely when a fact was pointed out.
