I have to update my review to factor in the horrific billing process. Be aware that the billing is handled out of Pennsylvania, where they are scheming to milk your insurance company. Here in Pennsylvania, they will add new charges for things like hot and cold packs, which were supposed to already be included in your service and paid for by insurance. Then, once your insurance company denies these charges, your case is basically held in suspended air for months, where you are unable to close out your account and pay off any of your bills. Any inquiries about your account then triggers a whole new process, where Pennsylvania resubmits all of your claims again for review by your insurance. Meanwhile the local office here is helpless, so are you, and the local manager does not respond to a request to talk. Good luck dealing with all this. read more

A couple months ago I fractured my shoulder. When it was time for PT I was handed a list of PT services & locations. I'd been to many locations and saw Select. Should I give it another chance? I'd given it two stars last review because of its billing practices not its PT. Luckily it worked out. I just completed my PT. And with Jason whom I met when he was an intern here. He's in charge now and has been for quite awhile. I'm not going to have a billing issue either because of the type of insurance I'm on. So that's a non issue. First of all, I would like to Thank Jason and his team for providing "fun and excellent service!" All staffs here are friendly, professional and easy to work with. I was nervous about getting PT because it's painful and stressful and especially during the pandemic! Schedule appt. for the first time was easy and painless. Jason is my therapist; he's very patient and knowledgeable with everything. Since my schedule changed, now I'm working with Victor who's a PT assistant. Just finished an extensive 3 months of therapy at the Select Physical Therapy on Geary Boulevard! I was in the hospital for ten days after a major operation and it took me a long time to get better once I was released. The muscles in my legs had atrophied and I was pretty weak. A couple of days at home and one morning I got out of bed and fell flat on my back. I thought I broke it but it was severely strained. Started going to Select under the supervision of Audrey and Julie and they guided me on an exercise regimen that helped immensely I did the work at home as well and I feel much better now thanks to them. I "graduated" today and I' d like to thank them immensely for getting me back on track. Highly recommend them. read more

I had never gotten physical therapy before and I have to say that it was very beneficial and actually fun working with the team at Select Physical Therapy in the Sunset. Everyone was very kind and friendly and the care I received very effective. I went in for shoulder pain and Dr. Joseph Dea and my therapist Victor Yee were stellar. They pinpointed the best treatment for me and got me to continue the exercises at home. My shoulder pain improved greatly - there are many more days now when I don't have any pain at all. read more

I finally graduated from PT!!!! I left, then came back (hey I know when I'm beat lol) to help correct my lingering issues with my knee(s) and hip(s) and while the staff (most) has changed, the equipment is being moved around and upgraded (a plus for new patients), paint is being applied and its getting revamped - this is still THE best place to come for PT. Alexis Anderson, DPT is really wonderful! She helped me see the bigger picture at a time I was nearly ready to crack from all the pressure (and pain) and only with her advice and clearly knowing and understanding it, was I able to finally help them help me LEAVE PT (hopefully, for good!) and feel like....well, like before I was injured! I will admit, there were a couple snags with billing due to their own clerical error but that is being dealt with internally and that makes me really feel like at the end of it all, they care! I mean yes, this is their business, but so are a lot of places that could care less about anything else BUT your money. I will miss going there but I am happy it is a chapter in my life I can close with a smile =) and I highly recommend them! read more

Great team of staff and physiotherapists! I was treated for my broken ankle in 2020 by Calvin and currently for severe patellofemoral knee pain by Vincent. They're extremely knowledgeable and develop the right program to accelerate your recovery. They're also extremely warm and polite and I've always enjoyed my rehab time over at the Vicente location. These people look for naive students to volunteer and maybe get hired there. Legally working interviews need to be paid. This is shameful. Aide duties include but are not limited to supervising therapeutic exercises, assisting/observing physical therapist with treatments, front office duties such as filing and faxing patient information and scheduling patients. Candidates must be interested in applying in a DPT program in the future and must have at least 20 hours of availability. The ideal candidate is a team player that is eager to learn, demonstrates the ability to multi-task in a busy clinic but still display excellent customer service with a positive attitude. Cantonese and/or Mandarin speaking is a plus. We see a wide variety of patients from elite level athletes, weekend warriors, geriatrics, and work related injuries. Although this is a volunteer position there is potential to transition to a paid position for the right candidate in the future, and you will be able to log hours for your DPT application. My review for this PT spot has been way overdue. I came here years ago when it was under a different name but the same person that ran it, Jason Villacampa, is still doing a stellar job. My first visit years back was for shoulder tendinitis from tennis and after a short month or 2, Jason and his associates got me pain free and to this day I am still doing great. My second visit which was in the last year, again, Jason and his team were able to resolve my elbow tendinitis issues and allowed me to get back to playing tennis again. Can't say enough about this business and everyone there was very friendly and helpful. I know for sure if I ever have issues in the future that I'll be seeking the help of these guys. This is my first experience with PT as a patient, and I am really impressed with the PTs here . Dr. Kellee Straub has been working with me for many months and I can honestly say that physical therapy has been the main pain relief for my injury. I feel that I have been supported every step of the way by Kellee and the staff here at select PT . The front office staff are friendly, professional, efficient, knowledgeable and always willing to work with you to make your schedule work with your PT. The PTs and assistants are incredibly knowledgeable - if the assistants ever have any questions, patient safety is obviously a priority and the PTs around the studio are always more than happy to help. They make sure to make the exercises fun and creative! The PTs can help answer all of your questions, and can also provide resources outside of PT. You get what you put in and the PTs make sure you have the resources to succeed at home as well as in the studio! Came to Physiotherapy associates because of a lower back problem. My therapist is Michelle. Our first meeting together was very helpful. Not knowing who she was or how she can help with my pain, I had to trust and believe in her as a therapist. She is very knowledgable in her work and the body mechanics and inner workings of the muscles and nervous system. My ailment is three bulging discs in my lower back with a tear in the disc. We talked about the nature of my injury and possible cause and treatment for it. Speaking with her gave me a peace of mind that I am in good hands. She started with pressure points in my back to feel for the area of pain, to loosen up the muscles around my lower back and try to relieve some of the pressure that's going on in my lower back. Then taught me some exercises in certain positions that would not cause me great pain but to help loosen and strengthen my back. It's going to be a long process but I feel very comfortable with Michelle. Her aids, Calvin, Corin, Joseph have also been a great help and give me a welcoming feeling. Very polite and fun group of individuals. This is my 4th visit and im happy to get great help and treatment from a great group of people. read more

I'm coming up on 9 months since my injury (broken femur and tibia). I found this place on yelp (surprised?). It had good reviews and is really close to me which was nice b/c i couldn't walk for the first 3 to 4 months since the break. The place itself is well maintained, has a good amount of equipment for various exercises, and is a fair size. The front desk always did a good job of checking me in, very polite, talkative and most importantly well organized. Now to my treatment: Overall this place was thorough, considerate, patient and honest. I ask a LOT of questions, especially since this was my first serious injury. Henry was extremely patient with answering any concern i had and was well informed. After about two weeks of treatment, progress was slow and they recommended I went back to surgery. This was a hard thing to recommend on their end and obviously wasn't my 'ideal' recovery. HOWEVER, it was a very honest opinion of my progress/state and i was really thankful...especially b/c they told me as early as they could to save me insurance visits. After the second surgery, progress was much better. Treatments were well structured -- 30m of therapy and 30m of exercise. The exercise was good b/c i got to learn what i needed to do on my own but with supervision. Henry was very easy to get a hold of via email/phone if i had questions and follow up was always prompt. I am on my way to what i feel will be 100% recovery or close to (gotta put in the work outside of therapy too!), so this place absolutely deserves 5 stars in my book. read more

I scheduled an appointment last week to come here today because I wanted to give this place a try. I get here and they tell me it's cancelled. It should be noted that I never called in to cancel and no one let me know they cancelled this appointment. I'm so upset because not only did this place just waste my time and gas from commuting across the city, but they didn't even offer to reschedule me or try to squeeze me in. This review is plainly about scheduling and not the quality of their treatment. I called yesterday to schedule an appt as a new patient. I was told they have a last minute cancellation for today, if not, the next appt would be 2nd week of December, so I took today's appt and had to cancel my online training session at work. Well, I arrived 20 mins before appointed time since this is my first time and I have paperworks to fill up. When I went to receptionist to check-in, I was told my therapist didn't come in today, and they left me 3 VM in the morning, I showed the lady my phone which didn't show any new VM, and then I was told they have another one for tomorrow, which I declined as I have other commitments. I was bummed and pissed off as: 1) If they didn't get a reply from me after "claiming" they left me VM, why didn't they try to SMS me? 2) If they appointments were so booked as I was told when I first called, how can they have another for tomorrow knowing that one therapist didn't come in today and maybe lots of these patients would have taken the extra slot before me? 3) A good service would have me squeezed into one of the PT's there and discuss my situation, since this is my first time, its mostly understanding my medical condition and what approach they would take, I know this might impact their FULL schedules and existing patient care, but they should have account for such situation and not fully book their schedule. Basically, I'm really mad to drive all the way from work, leaving early and canceling my training session, and then finding out the can't take me since the PT is out, they claimed they left me 3 VM which I didn't see any in my phone, 30 mins after leaving their office, I got a VM from a friend, so that tells me my phone is ok. Also, the fact that they "conveniently" have another slot the next day, which doesn't sound like its possible, when I was told they earliest would be mid December and considering one PT didn't come in today, so they would have to accommodate those patients scheduled for today and reschedule. read more

I went to this office for an Achilles tear. They have you work with a physical therapist the first half hour and then you work with an aide. The last day of therapy for the Achilles the aide had me do something that messed up my knee. I went back to rehab my knee and they gave me an exercise that led to back pain, back spasms, and now i have chronic back pain. Alexis Anderson is a very good physical therapist. However, she is no longer there and the use of aides can lead to an injury that's worse than what you started with. If you go here, make sure you work with the therapist and ignore the aides. read more

My Doctor origionally recommended Physiotherapy Associates for a knee injury..Because I was comp sating my old back injury flared up . Thanks to Dr. Villacampa I was able to get treatment for both . When I started I was depressed because I could no longer do my regular actives without out pain. Each session Dr Villacampa took the time to explain the techniques he was using and answer my never ending questions. He was very encouraging without making promises. He is not only very knowable but also patient and kind. Because of the great therapy I received I am now without pain and am back to leading the active life that I use to . I can't say enough about the positive experience I had. All the staff, PT's and PT's Aids (especially Kelly who worked with me) , office ,etc are very professional and personable. I tore my AC ligament about 2 months ago, started PT, 2 weeks after. Jason was great, he was very flexible with my crazy schedule. He was very knowledgeable and he worked a good 30 minutes on me, every time I went there. The other 30-45 minutes were with a aide. They were also very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I think there was a girl, volunteering to help with aides. She was a little lost but it didn't affect me or my treatment. I understand they have to start from somewhere. Anyways, my experience was very positive and I totally regained my range of motion and the pain has totally gone. I am back to my routines in 2 months, which include working out. I had a wonderful experience as a patient of this office. The entire staff from the font desk to the trainers and their assistants are extremely supportive and professional. It seemed as though the staff really loved their jobs and that came through in my sessions. They were very attentive and patient and helped me rehabilitate my sore knee in a few short months. Im a sucker for good customer service so I was always really happy when I walked in the door and the staff remembered me and greeted me by name. Jackie (PT) and Bill (Trainer) are the best. Jackie is knowledgeable and super friendly. Bill will work with you to get you back into working shape and more. I've been going there for a while for my back. They definitely taught me the do's and don'ts of sitting, standing, walking, etc. I even tried another PT that was closer to my job but in the end up came back to these guys and feel much better. Jason now has this place humming as you'll see by how far in advance you need to secure an appt. Joann runs the front office with tight efficiency. She's very knowledgeable and sweet as well. Great place for Physiotherapy. Everybody very professional and very kind. I was lucky to have Kalei as a physiotherapist. She is very knowledgeable and professional. She works you really hard and make sure you get the most out of each session. All assistants are good, I worked more with Chris, he also make sure you work until the last minute and works you to your best. I highly recommend this place. Very caring environment, good equipment, good manners, always trying to get to the best of your capabilities. My hip greatly improved with the help of this people. I am a Registered Nurse working in Acute Rehab in a hospital, my opinion is that this is the place to go for Physical Therapy. To begin with, I have a very complex back injury that dates back 3 years. I have been in chronic pain for a very long time. I tried PT a few times (as well as accupuncture, chiropractor, epidurals, pain meds, etc.) but nothing seemed to ease my pain. Dr. Michelle Cotter helped me find an ease to my pain (traction, tissue work, and H-Wave) where I was finally able to work on strengthening my back. I still have a long way to go, but know I am in the right place. Michelle Cotter is very knowledgable, friendly, sympathetic, but at the same time very diligent and detail oriented. The perfect combination of an excellent physcial therapist! I LOVE going to PT and wish I could go daily. Jason Villacampa and his staff are extraordinary. I had muscles and tendons torn and reattached in my shoulder and required only the best care to strengthen yet avoid damage while recovering. My friends doubted I should even have surgery at my age of 67 but thanks to Jason, Kelly, Chris and his staff I'm not only recovering, I'm buck to playing and winning at softball, again. I have been to a number of therapists in San Franciscos and none had been able to relieve my lower back and neck pain until I started seeing Patrick. Good PT is about problem solving, and they have the knowledge and skills get to the root of the problem, and figure out what will resolve it. I have been totally amazed and impressed with the quality of care I have received at Vicente Physiotherapy Associates in 2013 year. It took more than four months of twice-weekly therapy for me to regain full range of motion after right hip replacement surgery.
