The Dining room is set and you eat with other campers and hikers. They even let me ring the dinner triangle to let everyone in the cabins and around the lodge know that dinner was ready. We took an eight mile, over night hike to view Bridger Wilderness. The crew does pack trips, which means they will meet you on the trail with a pack horse full of supplies. This was so helpful. We are not the most experienced of hikers, and to have this option was perfect. We also took a day long ride on horseback. They packed us a lunch, and we took a guided trail ride. It was amazing! The horses were so friendly. While I am an experienced rider, my husband had never been on a horse. They have horses for all experience levels. Wayland (his horse) was perfect for him, and Rita was perfect for me. Everything about our trip was very authentic. From the dinner triangle, to the horses. From Stan teaching us about the "Tarzan call", and the other man cracking the whip and teaching one of the other campers to do it. Each morning and night there was a wood fire in the lodge, and a relaxing place to sit and visit, or play a board game by lantern light. Big Sandy is a family run lodge and everyone treats you as if you are part of their family.

A staff person met us outside the Lodge and directed us to our cabin and the washroom and said dinner would be signaled by a bell around 6:30pm. The cabin was very rustic and there were gaps around the door and in the walls that worried us about rodent problems with our food. When I went to the washroom building there were used towels and personal items in the shower area. Strange for a place with no other guests. When I went to use the toilet I found it full of excrement that appeared to be several days old. When called for dinner, the Lodge was still dark and we made our way to a long table with only 2 places set (no greeting by staff or anyone for that matter). We followed several other people (staff? workers? people living in the area?) in line for a buffet that consisted of ground hamburger stew and bagged iceberg lettuce. Our choice of drink was from pitchers of water or lemonade. The Lodge gets rave reviews for their burgers and cold drinks (beer, etc.) that are offered to day users coming off the hiking trails. This would have been a great improvement over the 'family style' dinner provided to us. After dinner we concluded that the service was nowhere near what was advertised and paid for and that the Lodge was surely closed (as the sign clearly stated and the lack of other paying guests indicated) and decided to drive the long, rough road out of there without staying the night. Definitely not worth the $791.78 that was charged for 2 people for 2 nights.

I saw this listing mentioning ice cream--and then saw that they offer horses too!! I thought it was a long shot on such short notice, but just that quick they called Kyle and he had us on an hour long trail ride through the most gorgeous country! Kyle was so great showing us all about the horses and then their beautiful property. We rode Joe and Pat. We saw deer and their fawns amid the sage brush and wild flowers. So gorgeous and so fun! Oh! And then we stopped in and got a pint of gourmet ice cream from a little self serve honor system freezer they have set up. Could not have been a nicer way to spend half a day.

However, I had chosen Cabin #2 when we reserved it, and received Cabin #1 instead. Wasn't a big deal for us, but you may not get what you reserve. Parking seems rather limited for all of the cabins there. Cabin #1 does seem to have the best parking spot by the road. The cabin was cozy and had a refrigerator and microwave. The cabin was clean and stocked. They don't do any maid service while your there so it's on you to keep it clean. When you checkout your required to remove the towels and bed linens and leave them by the door, and take your trash to the street. Apparently they must want to come in, throw your dirty laundry in a bin, make the bed and call it clean. The refrigerator froze our breakfast and the small microwave struggled to reheat it. There was a trap door in the floor of the bathroom that went under the cabin I assume. It was bent and actually rocked a little when you walked on it. I was a little afraid of the crawling insects that might come out of it. The lights are also wired a little weird but functional. One of the wall logs you could see day light through. It needed to be resealed. We never once saw anyone else while staying here. Except the older men that drove through one morning who I assume were the owners. They didn't stop to say hi or anything, so I guess they don't care to ever speak to their guests. Check out is simply sending a text message to a number. Overall, I would probably stay there again, but I would probably look for better options first.

Not as advertised. The pool was a construction site. We paid…read morepremium peak-season rates for Averon Lodge over July 4th for 25 guests. Starting in mid-May we asked repeatedly if the pool house would be ready, and were told in writing it would be "completed before your July 3 arrival." Only five days before check-in did they finally tell us the pool would not be ready, offering a full refund to cancel or $1400 back. To be fair, they made the offer - but five days out, with 25 people who had rearranged schedules, booked flights, and food already purchased, canceling was not a real option. That disclosure should have come weeks earlier, when we were asking directly and being reassured instead. The pool house wasn't just unfinished - it was an active construction site: open framing, a boom lift parked inside, dirt floors, and exposed sheathing, completely unusable all weekend (photos attached). Inside the main home, workers were still on-site when we arrived, furniture and materials were piled in the living areas, floors were dirty, and check-in was delayed. We asked twice for a mop while their crews were there. Never got one. The listing shows three grills - there were none. One small grill was assembled the day we arrived, far too small for our group, so we cooked every meal in rotation. Two coffee makers advertised: zero, and no mugs. Most lamps had no bulbs. The theater room didn't work, the projector sound system didn't work even following their instructions, and the oven ran roughly 50 degrees below its set temperature - verified with our own thermometer and photographed. Staff were polite throughout and the $1400 partial refund was appreciated, but a last-minute refund offer doesn't undo six weeks of reassurances or a weekend of workarounds at a property marketed as a luxury estate. The entire state of the property was misrepresented - not just the pool. Get every promise in writing before booking, and don't count on it even then.

We had a group of 83 people and filled every single room, yet the house never felt cramped. There was more than enough space for everyone to sleep comfortably, hang out, and enjoy different activities at the same time. Everything was spotless when we arrived. The bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, gym, movie theater, and pool area were all extremely clean and felt almost brand new. You can tell the property is very well maintained and professionally managed. The kitchen was fully equipped, which made cooking for a large group easy, and all the amenities worked perfectly. The views were absolutely incredible -- waking up to the scenery around Bear Lake was one of the highlights of the trip. It really made the whole experience feel special and peaceful. The management team was also fantastic. They were responsive, friendly, and always available whenever we had questions or needed anything. That level of support made planning and hosting such a big group stress-free. Overall, this place was perfect for a large group retreat, family reunion, or event. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and would definitely book again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a spacious, beautiful, and well-managed property!
