This venue is exceptional! I was invited by MAC, a local non-profit, to participate in the special screening of "A million miles away" in this Historic Theater. The venue reminded me of those intimate and welcoming venues we had back in the days. It is centrally located in downtown Homestead. You can't miss it. Its architecture will captivate you. Early pioneers James Washington English and Henry Booker Sr. built the Seminole Theater in 1921 in downtown Homestead. The silent movie theater opened Nov. 26, 1921. On March 1940, the theater burned down after a fire started on the stage causing a complete loss of the building. The replacement theater was an Art Deco building designed by noted national theater architect Roy A. Benjamin. It is noted as being the only Art Deco building in downtown Homestead. After operating for almost 40 years the Seminole closed its doors in 1979 due to financial trouble. More trouble was in store for this theater when Hurricane Andrew in 1992 ripped off the roof and nearly destroyed the theater again. In 1993, unable to make the repairs, the owners donated the dilapidated structure to the city. Historic preservationists began working on it to bring it back. In May of 2014 Homestead voters passed a bond referendum to give 5 million dollars to renovate the theater and turn it into a cultural arts center. Another $550,000 was awarded by two state grants. With the infusion of funds, a restored Seminole Theater was able to open on December 12, 2015 for a Grand Opening Gala, "A Night on Broadway." I love when a historic building is saved and repurposed for the arts. Especially when it is as gorgeous as this one. As I went by people were lining up for an evening performance. I went on 7/29 to see Jekyll and Hyde and thought the theater was very nice. The theater is small so every seat is a good one. The price for a ticket was $25 which is inexpensive to see a Broadway show. I highly recommend this theater. read more

I absolutely loved this theatre. The Seminole feels like small town Florida with a big potential to bring down to earth entertainment to Homestead and the South Florida area. Nice seats, concession stands and some of the cleanest bathrooms make this one a winner. I went to see Cirque Zuma and enjoyed it thoroughly. Mike the director seems to have a genuine love of the arts and concern for people that come out for any event. It certainly looks great after restoration and I'm so glad that the sign was kept, may it shine with all it's neon glory from here to eternity. read more

I went to see The Little Mermaid musical here tonight. The whole experience was wonderful! The parking behind the theatre was convenient, the lobby staff, volunteers, ushers, and concession workers were all friendly and helpful. The restrooms were clean as was the whole theatre. The production was top notch! The voices of all performers were lovely and the whole crew put together a magical experience complete with splashing fish! It was my first time at this gem of a theatre but definitely won't be my last! Kudos to all involved! read more

I attended the opening of In the Heights last night. It was my first time at this theatre. I bought the VIP tickets,it included cocktails and appetizers prior to the show and backstage passes after the show, it was all worth it. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming. We had an amazing time! We all enjoyed the show and the ambiance. It was a great experience! I'm looking forward to enjoying other shows in the near future! read more

SEMINOLE THEATER HOMESTEAD, FL Attended a comedy show at the seminole theater in homestead on Saturday. We have never had anything like this in homestead. Where you can go with your family to laugh, eat, and enjoy the. Also enjoyed the company of other family and friends that wrnt to see the show. This was one of the best shows. I had never been to the seminole but that place was amazing and the show was freaking hilarious. I hope they continue to bring more comedy shows to homestead. I thing I wanted to say to people who get offended very easily please don't ever go to a comedy show. Because in all comedy shows I have been to they have always made jokes about hispanics, whites, and blacks. I really hope that the people that put this show together continue to bring comedy shows to homestead or cutler bay. read more

Great theatre, with great people. The Seminole Theatre is a beautiful modern venue, that has great sound, amazing lighting & a well laid out stage. I have seen some really great shows there, from community theater to International acts. They should have more national & international acts, to keep people coming. I live in Miami and have been to Seminole Theatre a number of times these past couple of years. The venues are very enjoyable. The employees are extremely helpful and friendly. The Theater's Director makes the place. I recommend everyone to check out what is happening there and if it is something which might interest you go to it. You will then make it a point to go back many times as we did. read more

Came here for an event. The concession stand only accepted cash and there was no ATM. I was instructed that I could walk down the block to a store and use that ATM. I wish there was a disclaimer on the website that stated cash only. read more

Had a great time at the Battle of Laughs last night!! All the comedians put their best effort and all jokes were in good fun...parental discretion was definitely a must but it's comedy...you have to just see it for what it is...A JOKE! Most comedians were from out of town and was their first time in our city. Im happy that we are getting the much needed exposure thay will hopefully attract both homestead residents and out of towners! My family and I attended the New Shanghai Circus in February 2019. This was my first time at this theater and I highly recommend it. What a beautiful little place! We had second row seats which were a great view but honestly, any seat in the theater would have been great for this particular show. Parking was as easy as could be, there is a huge lot by the police station which is behind the theater. Parking was free which never happens, so that's a big plus. We arrived about 20 minutes before the show and still were able to find parking with no problem. The employees were all very nice and eager to help us find our seats. They seemed genuinely happy to see us. How nice! The manager came out on stage and introduced himself which I thought was great - he was very personable and friendly. The actual show itself was amazing! I had 4 teenagers with me and every time I looked at them - they were in awe. The performers were incredible! What talent! They were also funny and had the audience laughing quite a bit. We only used the concession stand to buy water - which they were a dollar each. I was expecting them to charge at least $3 a bottle so I was pleasantly surprised about that. The manager was present in the lobby during intermission which I also thought was great if anyone had any questions or anything like that. Overall, I am highly impressed with this theater and will definitely be back. Fantastic!!! read more

I used to think that the South dade Cultural Center was the most intimate place to see a major artist. However after going to the Seminole, I now believe this is it. We saw John Secada and were 11 rows up. It was great. The only small drawback is so many people playing with cell phones during the show, I think people still need to be told "Please turn off cell phones before entering" read more

I attended "Battle of the Laughs". My friends and I had an amazing night full of laughs. With ALL the NEGATIVE things that are happening in Homestead nowadays, We needed this. I read a previous review that was EXTREMELY negative, however I have to disagree with that person. Comedy is definitely NOT for the easily offended. Attending a comedy show you have to know that you're taking a huge chance of the comedians to make fun of a topic that many may take serious. AGAIN, It was all fun and laughs. For it happening in Homestead I'm GLAD that a fight or even a shoot out didn't occur, Especially in a young crowd. All in all I give the show a 5 star rating and hope that the theatre hosts another in the future. read more
