The overall experience from working with the receptionist over the phone for making appointments and follow ups and the actual root canal procedure is A++++ across the board. The facility is clean, staff is friendly, and Dr. Baer is both funny and informative. Aside from the initial shot of Novocain (dat pinch) the procedure was quite painless and Dr. Baer is always checking to make sure you're feeling ok. I liked that Dr. Kim gave me the option to put on a stronger temporary cement for my crown in case I had to wait longer for my permanent. Also, I liked how Stef noticed the dental light was shining in my eyes and moved it. The office is beautiful and I liked that they didn't push any extra products. I do think they are a bit pricey compared to my regular dentist, but for an emergency visit it was well worth it for me.

I did and found out from a reputable practitioner that East Madison exaggerated my bone loss, suggesting that I would soon lose my teeth, evidently to frighten me into agreeing to a totally unnecessary, painful and expensive procedure. I was told by my new dentist who also gently checked that my bone loss was not severe and I was not at risk for losing my teeth, dhouldI live to be 100 as long as I continue to take care of them as I have. East Madison is a multi-practice complete with endodontists and state of the art, expensive equipment and the money to pay for it all reasonably has to come from its clients. Understandable, that there would be a somewhat larger bill at such a practice if run ethically. Unfortunately, the temptation to push unneeded procedures must be high. During my exam, I was told I had multiple cavities and that one tooth needed a root canal. The first red flag for me was that they didn't accept my insurance and strongly encouraged me to move forward with extensive additional treatment. I was presented with several treatment plans totaling over $8,000, which made me uncomfortable. Ultimately, I only approved a wisdom tooth extraction, a cleaning, and one filling. During the procedure, I distinctly felt the dentist shaving down the tooth that I had only authorized for a filling. Two weeks later, I began experiencing severe pain on the same side where the work had been performed. When I finally returned, expecting a post-treatment evaluation to determine why I was in so much pain, I was instead presented with another treatment estimate for over $2,000--even though I had insurance at that point. I've always had anxiety about going to the dentist, and unfortunately, this experience has only made that fear worse. I left feeling that my concerns were overshadowed by discussions of additional treatment and costs rather than finding the cause of my pain. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

I called around on a Tuesday to places offering 24 hr turnaround/same day service for emergencies, etc. Washington Dental was the only one who could do it; before committing the timing to me, they checked with the lab first and said my flipper would be ready 4:00 Friday. I picked it up, fit perfect, made my Saturday events and an out of town work trip with a full smile. I am grateful to Washington Dental for not only getting the flipper but confirming the timing would work before taking my case. Office staff and Dr. Son were wonderful!
