I've had great cheesecake over the years - from Junior's in Brooklyn, NYC to the best of homemade ones, and Mesha's own stand beside those. We've had the strawberry (of course), praline, and blueberry, and am eager to try other ones. I only go here for special occasions, but want to try some of the cakes as well. The service here is okay. Not amazing, but they've answered questions I've had so that's more than good enough for me. And it's small shop so not much to see, but always clean and inviting upon entering. I'm glad they're here and am always overjoyed to support a Black-owned business as there are far few in this area.

Mesha's Sinful Cakes has become something of a sweet Friday tradition in Orangeburg -- and after…read moretwo visits to the food truck (plus one trip to the Columbia storefront), it's easy to understand why people line up early. The first time I visited the truck, I was greeted by a friendly young man who clearly believed in what he was serving. I left with banana pudding, an Oreo cheesecake, and a turtle cheesecake -- and honestly, "sinful" is the right word. The cake itself is fluffy, rich, and packed with flavor, and the cheesecake? Truly some of the best I've ever had. The young man confidently told me it would be, and he wasn't exaggerating. My second visit to the food truck was just as pleasant. This time, a warm and welcoming young lady was running things. I arrived around 5 p.m., only to find that most items were already sold out -- a testament to how popular these desserts have become. Luckily, I managed to grab a blue velvet cheesecake, and it did not disappoint. Smooth, decadent, and perfectly balanced, it was worth the trip even with the limited selection. Wanting to experience more, I visited the brick-and-mortar location in Columbia off Two Notch Road this past Saturday. The desserts were just as delicious -- the quality and flavor remain consistent no matter the location. However, the customer service didn't match the charm of the food truck experience. While the cakes are still absolutely worth indulging in, the food truck brings something extra -- better hospitality, more personality, and a community feel that makes the experience sweeter. With prices being the same at both locations, I'll gladly return to the Orangeburg truck... just earlier next time, when the selection is still full.
