LOVE this place! Was here yesterday with my mom and grandmother celebrating vacation and we had a lovely experience. The ONLY ding is the service. It took forever to catch our waitress to place an order and again to get the check but hey, nobody is perfect! The food and drinks were sensational. The Gin Paloma combined two of my favorite drinks and was such a refreshing treat. The Korean hot dog and the Mexico City hot dog were fantastic and more than enough for each of our whole meals. We had the trailer park dog...off the hook good, wife had the lobster BLT cooked perfectly, thick bacon, and a great bun, and the Gyro. Absolutely one of the top Gyros I have had. First, the pros: Fantastic food. We were a five person group, so we ordered both the duck fat and the truffle fries, both of which were absolutely fantastic. I'd say the truffle fries were the better of the two with the aioli, while the duck fat fries were better if you compare them without the side sauce. I ordered the Lindsey Lohan dog, which was terrific. Excellent quality beef dog, nice soft bun (almost a little too much bun to be honest), with toppings that combined for an excellent flavor profile, though the balsamic could be a bit higher grade given how good everything else was. The beer list was absolutely fantastic, even in a beer-loving city like Cincinnati. Our servers were attentive and polite. Finally, the piece de resistance was the pretzel beignets with caramel mascarpone. Let's put it this way: I literally had a dream about this terrific dessert that night. Now, the one con: the "service," in the classical sense of the word, AKA timing. Drinks came out a bit early, which is absolutely fine. Then the duck fat fries. These were followed by hot dogs, but there was probably a 4 minute window between when first of our group received their dog until the last person did. Only when about 2/3 done with our hot dogs did the truffle fries come out. Not cheap, but worth it. Will return. read more

First time to the Blue Ash location, which is larger and lots of free parking available. Easy to get to. We went for my birthday lunch, and it was a great choice. We were sat in the bar area, but lots of folks were sitting out on the patio since the weather was lovely for August. We had to get the poutine, and frankly, if you come to Senate and DON'T get it, you are missing out on something really fabulous and so very cravable! Big plate of fries (a little truffle flavor), melty cheese curds, and a nice portion of the shredded short ribs with gravy on top. The truth? The poutine and my beer filled me up! But you also won't be sorry to get any of the hot dogs. I ended up with the Spuds Mackenzie: hotdog, fries, bacon, cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos! The peppers added a nice bite to offset the dairy. Served on a soft bun. I took half of it home! These dogs are BIG! My son had the hotdog of the day. A nice bratwurst from our friends at Findlay Market, with sauerkraut on top. Also tasty! I had Three Floyd's Gumball head, one of my favorites, which was on tap. My son had a raspberry beer he enjoys. They didn't offer anything to make my birthday special, but that is OK. Not everyplace does, and that was not why we were there. Go! Let me start by saying that I have never ever left a Senate restaurant hungry or disappointed. Today I left feeling both. We got there for brunch to discover that my all time fave brunch item had been removed from the menu. The biscuits and gravy. Ok..no big deal. Theres lots of other good things on the menu. I choose the new hash dish and order that. My food arrived last. And the potatoes that are the base of the hash, was sitting in at least a quarter inch puddle of grease. They had been deep fried and never drained but threw onto the plate. I tried draining it but it was a mess. I gave up. Our server Chris never stopped by to check on us even once until everyone at the table was finished and it was time for the check. And we were all sitting with empty drink glasses. Not once to check on us. He acted like he was doing us a favor by removing the non-eaten dish off of the check. Even when he did come to clear plates, he didnt acknowledge that I hadnt eaten any of the dish. He cleared away the other plates of people at our table but then when I was the only one left, he then decided he had to address it. If he had came before everyone else was finished, I would have liked to have ordered something else off the menu but it was too late by then and everyone else was done eating. The revised check came and his feeble apology. Im disappointed that a manager never came over to speak to me about the issue. I fell back from my party to discretely speak to Mark who offered a hot dog on the house for next time but I feel like he should have came to me, instead of me having to seek him out. Came here for lunch, and it was awesome! I haven't been to the downtown location so I can't really compare, but this one has a nice rustic vibe inside, and there are plenty of windows letting in natural light. I was with a big group, and we got seated in our own little space divided from the rest of the restaurant which was kind of nice. The thing that really sets this place apart, however, is really the food. I'm not really a hotdog person, but I was really digging my hotdog! I got the lindsay lohan- a hotdog with greens, caramelized onions, and goat cheese. The toppings were so balanced, and those greens really elevate what might otherwise be just a boring hotdog! Also, the hotdog comes split and browned to a crisp on the inside which is a nice touch, and those buns are pillowy and perfect with all of the other ingredients. Also, they have a good selection of beers and wines to pair your dogs with! Overall, awesome meal, and I'll definitely be back at Senate at some point in the future! read more

I don't understand some of the reviews complaining about the price of the hot dogs. I have a pretty healthy appetite, and I usually just get a hot dog. It's like a whole meal on a hot dog. I'm not sure if people can't get past the fact that it's a hot dog, or if they're ordering plain hot dogs, which... just why? Why would you order a plain hot dog? Don't be the person that goes to a gourmet hot dog place and orders a plain hot dog. Or if you must, don't get a regular hot dog, and then complain about it like that's a normal thing to do. That's like saying, "I went to Boca and got plain spaghetti with no sauce. It wasn't very good. Why would someone pay this much for spaghetti?" I don't know man, you tell me? Because you're the one who's doing it. Sorry, I get very passionate when hot dogs are involved. Aside from the food, the decor is cool. The new Blue Ash hot spot!!! Love the new venue. Family friendly and right at the park where you can go for a walk or hang out with the kiddos! My wife and I went opening day and it was packed. We went to the downtown location before and we are glad they have this new location. My wife got the special of the day. The Poutine dog and I had the Lindsay Lohan. Lol. Both were excellent. I ordered the Hawaiian Poke Bowl to go for dinner on 6/11. While I waited I ordered their "Frose." The drink was $10 and seemed a bit steep for what it was. It had a nice drizzle of berry sauce and a mint leaf making it pretty, but it otherwise wasn't worth the cost. The poke bowl, however, was simply delicious. It was light and flavorful. Meatless hotdog was very hard and over cooked. I always get the Trailer Park on with a meatless hotdog. This time, not only was the hotdog very hard in places, but the coleslaw was mostly mayonnaise and it was runny too. There were just a few crushed BBQ Grippo's potato chips on top as if it was just a seasoning. We also ordered the truffle fries and while the fries were fine, they only gave us a small condiment size of sauce. This place does not live up to the hype. I'm sorry but it doesn't! I keep going back hoping something will change my mind but I leave disappointed every time. The hotdogs are too big and you can't enjoy the combinations because it's impossible to get everything in one bite. The selection of sides is lacking. My parents who limit their carb in take couldn't even get a side salad or side of veggies. They ended up having to order a full salad on top of their individual entrees.
