Came for Burger Week and ordered the $9 Sizzling Cheeseburger Plate. The burger was buttery, flavorful, and delicious. My only suggestion is that it could have been served a little hotter, especially since it comes on a sizzling hot plate. We stopped by on a random weekday around 11 a.m., and the diner was already bustling with customers. Even so, we were seated almost immediately. By noon, there was a noticeable line out the door waiting for tables. On a regular weekday, that's a pretty good sign that this place is a local favorite. You can really tell this is the kind of diner people return to again and again. It feels like generations of families have made it their go-to lunch spot, and it's wonderful to see a neighborhood restaurant with that kind of loyal following. But if you love chili and you are in the area one place to consider is this place, the draw here is the "No Freakin' Way" Challenge is a legendary 8-lb food challenge The massive platter consists of four main ingredients: 2.5 lbs of steaming spaghetti, 2.5 lbs of their signature Cincinnati chili, 2 lbs of shredded cheddar cheese, topped with 1 lb of fried, pickled jalapeño caps. It is a true test of one's metal. You have 60 minutes to complete the challenge, if you fail you will not only have to pay the nearly $80 dollar price tag, you will be added to the "Wall of Shame". I had an appointment in the area and stopped in to grab breakfast. The meal I got was crazy portion size. I literally had leftovers for breakfast the next day. My eggs were perfect, a ton of bacon, my potatoes were good but somehow not very hot and the pancakes were fabulous. I did not like the syrup but I ate pancakes next day with maple syrup at home, yummy. It's a simple straight forward place, no extravagant piled on cakes or french toast, just solid food. Seated at the counter since it was pretty busy. The waitress came by quickly and dropped of menus and took our drink orders. She came back pretty quick. My wife ordered the classic Cheeseburger and onion rings. I ordered the Cuban. Ok, this place , Blue Ash Chili, by name, you'd think was just another "chili parlor". Big NOPE on that. Plenty of other tasty items on the menu. But, a Cuban sandwich? Not exaggerating here, it was one of the best tasting Cuban sandwiches I've had. And I've been to Miami! And, it was huge. It comes in a hogie bun, grilled, just a touch of mustard, pickle, really tasty ham. Side order of crinkle cut fries, cooked crispy but not burnt or crunchy. I usually highly recommend Blue Ash Chili but I was very disappointed with my carryout order Tuesday night. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and onion rings. The onion rings were great, as usual, but the sandwich was bad. The meat tasted old and the sandwich had obviously been microwaved because the bread was like leather. For $22 I expect better. Update. The pastrami sandwich is legit. Had the 2 meat Pastrami and Pastrami on rye. Double decker sandwich which was close to 1lb of smoked brisket pastrami. For 12.49 it is the best deal I currently know of for a pastrami sandwich. It was 4"-5" high mostly meat! Got it togo for wife. Basically got 3 meals out of it. Quality of the meat was really good. Juicy, tender, slight smokey flavor. Top shelf Pastrami. Try this if you like good Pastrami. So far, I have had nothing at Blue Ash Chili that wasn't great. A great family place with lots of choices. Been on my list to try for years and finally got around to it. They have an expansive menu and by looks of the tables around us, people were taking advantage of it! But we were here for chili. We were there at lunch and there was a short line (that grew lingerie after we were seated - be prepared for a bit of a wait if you go during prime times). Onion rings were terrific. The wait staff were great, warm and welcoming. The chili and food overall was something I never have to eat again. Coconut cake was bland, dry and simply a waste of calories. My grandson is a fan of this place. He likes that he can get a PB&J and fries. We haven't been in awhile and stopped in for lunch recently. My grandson had his PB&J. My daughter a Turkey and Roast Beef Skinny Double and I ordered a new sandwich, the Chopped Italian. We also ordered the Gravy Cheese Fries to share. The Chopped Italian is too awkward to eat. It's the type of bun and how they cut it that is the problem. Most of the food fell out, the bread is very hard and very dry. Overall, the whole sandwich was surprising very dry for being an Italian meat sandwich. I wouldn't ordered it again. The service was good, as usual. The food was OK, except for mine. Stopped in this afternoon to Blie Ash Chili. Restaurant was clean. Staff was very engaging. And attentive. I ordered a 3 way and 2 cheese coneys. Cause if chili is in your name then it must be your specialty right? Food was hot, good and the appearance was good. Price was about what you'd expect for what you order and portion sizes. If I'm ever in the area I might stop back. Would I suggest it? Sure. Would it go out of my way to return? Probably not. It's not one of those things I would say could be a regular destination for me. The server Emily B. Took our order and got it wrong it was delivered by other servers which wasn't problem. She went on a lunch break in between shifts and didn't say anything when we asked where she was she didn't know if she went home or on her break. Mean while we could see her sitting down and eating and when she came back she didn't acknowledge us or anything. You never know when a server trainer is waiting on you. We have had a consistently great experience at Blue Ash Chili. Feels like a neighborhood joint and has great food and service. Consistently excellent burgers. Our kids love the noodles with cheese and even the chicken soup is a favorite of the kids. Their sandwiches are excellent and the reuben is one of the best you'll find in the city. Only complaint is they don't advertise their ability to accommodate for gluten allergies. They have gluten free bread and can make gluten free pancakes. One of the members of our family has celiac and has never reacted. Can't say enough great things about this place. read more

It's been a long time since I had been to Blue Ash Chili. I had a couple of the cheese coneys and one with the friend jalapeños instead of a hot dog. Chili is very good. I did not love the buns on the coneys. Wound up eating the insides out with a fork. I'd probably go with a 3 way next time or maybe one of the delicious looking sandwiches. The staff was excellent. Great, super friendly service. Everyone watches every table it seems, so we never went more than a few moments without someone at least looking to see if we needed anything. Great family restaurant.
