    Loaded fries

Came here for dinner with by best friend. We walked in, sat down in a booth and were brought menus instantly. Asked what we wanted to drink. I got a hot chocolate, my friend got a water. He ordered the cheese fries with gravy large so we could share ( great plan as it was a lot of food). He ordered the Danny's special and since I have never been here before. I ordered the same. Our drinks came out quickly and the food took maybe 5 or 6 minutes. And wow I will have to say this was one very tasty meal. The place looks and feels like the old cafe that it is. I will have to say, if in the area again, I will be happy to come it for a meal. This was a very tasty meal and I may just have to order it again.

Oh, we drove on a bus two days to get to Cincinnati as we went to the underground railroad museum and decided for lunch, we wanted to local flavor and have Cincinnati chili. We had to take an Uber and we decided to go to the Pleasant Ridge chili diner. The diner was small, looked family owned, and very pleasant. It was homey. The waitress was a little grumpy. recommendation of getting a large instead of a small was taken as we split the meal. It was like something I never really had before. My wife liked it and especially loved the cheese that came with it and glad we went because it's something unique that we don't really have in Texas, instead of just eating a Meal from the local chain places. We never thought we would've liked or even ever tried it, but being that we were there we took the leap of faith and tried and pleasantly surprised. It's definitely unique. We researched ahead of time what a local dish would be to have and famously found the Cincinnati chili was the option. It wasn't like a normal chili however it was very pleasantly spiced and flavorful. If in the area again, I would definitely re-order it and have it as a option again.

It was my first time here and I didn't know what to expect but I was excited to try another Cincinnati chili. The interior is cute and the sign out front that lights up is very vintage. They have a decent sized parking lot to the side of their building, which is helpful. The chili is delicious, I could taste the difference between this chili and Skyline Chili. Pleasant Ridge Chili seems to have the spices more pronounced. However, we waited 45 minutes for our food while the restaurant was not busy. Our drink orders weren't taken for 10 minutes. We saw other tables sit down after us and get their food 10 minutes before we did. My brother and I ordered chili cheese fries and 4 coneys between us, so it wasn't a complicated order. My coney order was also incorrect and the waitress tried to tell me that I ordered onions, when I remember telling her everything but onions multiple times. I docked 2 stars for the wait and the service. I would still probably come back eventually though, since the chili was good. Be sure to bring some cash with you, as it is cash only.

Food was great, but our rude, MAGA waitress ruined our experience. This restaurant is NOT a safe space for LGBTQ+ customers and/or minorities. I took my girlfriend and my son to eat here, and our waitress barely took care of us. She made us wait forever for menus and refills, but quickly brought us a check. We were polite to her as we ALWAYS are to restaurant staff, but she was very short with us, and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. When she brought us our check, she started talking about Donald Trump, and she was praising him for the "good things" he's going to do for the country. We were VERY uncomfortable. As LGBTQ+ customers, and as customers who want a dining experience that doesn't involve garbage politics, we will NEVER eat here again.

Going to Pleasant Ridge Chili is like stepping back in time! It's a small place and on our Saturday lunchtime visit was packed to the gills! We were warned by the busy serving staff that it would be 30-45 minutes to get our food, but we found a quicker work-around: sit at the counter and order chili! We ordered a 3-way, a coney and the gravy-cheese-fries. It was all very good! We were served quickly too. Their menu is actually much broader than chili, despite their name. They have breakfast, burgers and more. The lady next to us was having some mashed potatoes and gravy with her meal and we saw lots of folks eating the burgers. There's parking adjacent to the building, making it easy to get in and out. It's cash-only ("Been that way for decades", says the server) but there's an ATM machine in the back. There's also one of their original menus framed on the wall near the ATM, so check that out too! We'll definitely go back again to try out more of the menu.

Ask the Community - Pleasant Ridge Chili

Has Pleasant Ridge taken any COVID-19 precautions? I'm visiting from out of town & would like some Gravy Cheese Fries.

No. No masks worn by employees or guests. Also it's cash only and I got asked by 2 junkies in the parking lot for cash.

Even though this was delayed due to weather (the original date was earlier in February), the staff at ToB was super communicative and let me know that my reservation would carry over to the next date. The food was amazing - Belgian meatballs, mussels provencale and bolo - I mean....wow. I don't even like mussels and I couldn't get enough of these. Each of the foods were so perfectly crafted for the feast and had such an amazing story behind why it was a featured dish. Then came the chicken and waffles...flight. I mean - how much more perfect can you get? Iconic ToB waffles and chicken? Chef's kiss! To make the night even more incredible, we got to meet with Jean-François who told us stories and gave us pairing recommendations that were top notch. The communal feast was an amazing way to spend the evening at a restaurant that truly is one of the best places in Cincinnati.

For starters I ordered the waffle latte!!! Very maple tasting with a cute little Belgium waffle as garnish- so cute!! For breakfast/brunch I ordered (& shared) the Breakfast Plate- perfect for two if you aren't too hungry - eggs w/ cheese - sourdough toast - crispy potatoes - bacon - and of course a side of goetta (we are in Cincy after all) Everything was delicious and sometimes a classic breakfast is what you need!!!!!! My friends got the McWaffle & Southwest waffle - both had no complaints except a McWaffle might get ya a little dirty since the sandwich is so stuffed.... But no worries you do get a fork to eat up the fallen food I will always recommend this cincy favorite for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!!!!!! Can't wait to be back!!!

The food is outstanding across the board--from the steaks to the cheese sticks--but the real star is their bread pudding. It's absolutely worth the trip from anywhere in the tri-state area. Parking is also easy and convenient, with a garage right across the street, as well as their own lot and additional street parking. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great meal and an even better experience.

Both were friendly & acknowledged the birthday girl in our party. Atmosphere is great. You could comfortably walk in wearing jeans or come dressed up. Neither would be over or under dressed. The menu has juuuust the right amount of options, which is great! Heather was our waitress & while she was kind, her service skills were lacking. Granted we weren't at a Michelin Star Restaurant, but we also weren't at a dive bar. There was an endless amount of awkward reaching through, over & around when refilling drinks. There were a couple of instances where she actually touched our shoulders to nudge us to the side so she could reach through. Totally not okay during service at a restaurant nicer than a dive bar. We ordered the cheese sticks starter which were so yummy! Highly recommend! A couple of us ordered the Cesar side salad & were highly disappointed. The dressing tasted like it was mayonnaise heavy & then watered down by lettuce that wasn't dried after being rinsed. Even adding tons of extra pepper didn't help. The lettuce also tasted like it has been too wet for too long. The lobster mac was ordered in the group & it was tasty but soooo greasy. So, order with caution. We had the Black N Bleu salad in the group & that was good. The Atlantic Salmon was another dinner ordered & the crust seasoning was delicious! Sadly, the salmon was a bit overdone. It does come with a lobster cream sauce, which confused me. It was only so so & I definitely skipped it entirely. The steamed broccoli was done to perfection though. Not soggy & not too crunchy. We also had the 12oz ribeye & that was great! Flavorful, cooked perfectly! I will add though, that the steak knives need an upgrade. I really wanted to love this place, but we won't return on our next trip to Newport/Cincinnati.

Normally, I find hotel food is just okay and nothing special, but Coppin's was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

Going back and forth on stars for this one. Me and around 30 of my coworkers came into town for a…read moretwo day workshop and they got us a room block at this hotel. I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.
