Date of visit: January 25, 2025 I've never really understood why people are so in love with Sendik's as the stores are small, the prices are high and I don't feel that the service is anything to write home about and justify the prices. All that being said, this is probably the best Sendik's that I have seen. It is far larger than the closet on Silver Spring masquerading as a supermarket, and the service is better than the location in Mequon. My husband loves the produce here--for $20 in apples, they better be magical! The self checkout was also easy to use and made checkout a snap! read more

Ever so often I feel like taking a drive. I'm in IL and am so disappointed with our grocery stores here that I'm constantly looking for others. So on this day up for a drive I searched stores in WI and Sendik's was in the area I was headed. Wowza! What a nice store! I was very impressed, so much so I plan to visit at least monthly. I've gone to the Franklin Sendik's many times each time I have gone the service at the deli is terrible. I even contacted corporate and suggested that instead of other staff in deli doing other tasks that they wait on customers. The average time waiting to have someone help you is about 28min. Won't be getting my business any longer. All we wanted was coleslaw and to wait that long is unacceptable. read more

For my son's Eagle Court of Honor, we used Sendiks catering and they knocked it out of the park! Everything was absolutely fantastic, looked great, and was fairly priced. We ordered a variety of cocktail sandwiches (which contained significantly more ham/turkey than I was expecting), a cheese tray (which came with plenty of crackers), a taco dip tray (which came with plenty of chips), fruit, veggies, relishes, roasted veggies, deviled eggs, a hummus platter (fantastic!), two kinds of sushi (first trays to empty!), and a beautifully decorated full sheet cake. I paid $25 for delivery - best $25 ever - and the delivery driver did a great job setting up the food tables for me. I was so impressed I called Sendiks to talk to a store manager this morning and tell them that my every expectation was exceeded. I highly recommend Sendiks catering! read more

Sendiks is my go to store! Love that it's small enough yet always stocked with quality items. I am absolutely THRILLED that they started selling my favorite cottage cheese, Prairie Farms. I no longer have to go to another store just for this. The employees at the meat counter are helpful and knowledgeable. The deli counter is extraordinary with high quality meats like Usinger's and Boar's Head. Love that they stock so many Wisconsin made brands. My only feedback would be that the produce can at times be wilted/on its way out. This is a very rare occurrence but certainly doesn't stand up to the usual Sendik's quality. Lots to choose from in this mega store. Some areas like fresh sea food and meet are also well staffed. Some sections, such as international foods, are well stocked and orderly. I really appreciated the theme of this gourmet supermarket. It was stylish, clean and trendy. Sendik's Food market is so much more than it's name indicates. In addition to tons of food items, there were attractive displays of home furnishings, gifts and personal items such as purses and clothing. Wow! I had a great time looking around. The bakery and produce departments were stocked with so many choices. Everything was displayed well. It was easy to see what was offered and I appreciated how orderly everything was. The staff was super helpful when we couldn't find a specific ingredient that our recipe required. I appreciate kind service and that is what this incredible market offered. Parking was plentiful, which made shopping easy. Tons of staff were readily available for anything you might need. Overall I found this option for shopping a very positive experience. read more

This Sendik's has a good produce selection, which is one of my main reasons for adding a Sendik's trip to my normal Pick 'n' Save run. I can always find good greens like kale and chard, as well as reasonably priced stuff for juicing. The craft beer and wine selection is good, I wish they had more beer that wasn't refrigerated, but the beer selection is impressive. I pick up some normal grocery items here once in a while, but the aisles of this store are narrow, and clogged up with aging southside couples, who always seem to be reading the ingredients in front of the items you need to grab. Now that masks are mandatory, shopping is better. Certain times are better to go They have early morning hours 7-8 AM for immunocompromised people. I love their organic meat and seafood selections. I got a whole bunch of seafood for New lYears. They have a large cheese selection and I always come home with something from their large deli. They have an app and you can save if you plan ahead. I haven't been to a Sendik's in a very long time and was surprised to find one in Franklin, but when your friend comes to town from California and wants an Elegant Farmer apple pie, you find her one. So we tried Layton Fruit Market first on our way out of town heading back to Chicago, and they only had them frozen, so I checked the Elegant Farmer website again and called up Sendik's (thinking I could find some Dang! That's Good butterscotch root beer, too) and the helpful person in the bakery department said they had all the varieties. When we got there, they only had two apple pies out, but that was fine because all we wanted was apple, and one was fine. I was charmed and delighted by the other bakery items, too-- it felt like Lund's & Byerly's back home, and even more happy that they have Old Dutch chips so close to Chicago! (Yes, there are Old Dutch chips in my kitchen at this moment). I wish we'd had more time for me to check out the gift area in the front of the store, but we had to get on the road. I'll definitely make the time to do so on my next visit. And alas, they did not seem to stock Dang! That's Good, but we can't get every Wisconsin goodie at one store, can we? That would be too much to ask. The staff was friendly and the store is clean. (No one besides us was wearing masks, though. Apparently Wisconsin is over the pandemic. Sendik's is known for being pricier and although I haven't done full-on massive shopping there to really speak to that in particular - I can say that this is a fantastic and reasonable place to shop for flowers. Their selection is great and for $30 one can get a very pretty bouquet. For to-go meals they also have an impressive salad/soup bar as well as take-out sushi. The store is smaller so the selection would be more limited than say Woodman's but they also have more unique offerings than a Pick n Save with a splash of high-end appeal like a Whole Foods. It's not quite exactly like any of the aforementioned, but that's what makes them successful, I think. Sendik's stands on their own! read more

I'm a fan of all Sendik's grocery stores. The quality of their produce, bakery and deli is second to none. And if I drank wine, they have wine for days. The stores are so beautiful,which is odd to say for a market, but I feel like what I'm getting here is worth the sticker shock at the register. I have found the employees to be consistently friendly and helpful from store to store. I can rely on the fact that if I can't locate what I need, any employee will help me find it without added sass. The plants and flowers are beautiful too, and quite competitively priced. I nearly walked out with a centerpiece I didn't need just because it was a steal! Every plant that has actually made it home with me is still thriving. There is also someone always on staff to help create or box up flower arrangements. Another great feature is the hot bar with lots of yummy choices to create a dinner and say you baked it all yourself. Sides, mains and in betweens. They even have complete dinners bagged and ready to go. All you need to do is heat them up. As cozy as it is inside, the entrances outside are often quite pretty as well with flowers and plants for sale that change with the season. I bought some crab legs to serve as an appetizer dish at a dinner party I was having for some lake Geneva chefs and they were bad, smelled like ammonia so I called the sendix that I bought them from in Franklin to let them know, and they were very cold and unapologetic I had to talk to the man in the meat department and he acted like it was personal. Everybody could have gotten food poisoning and all I wanted was to return them or find out how to return them and the guilt trip was ridiculous as if I did something wrong. If you want high quality groceries, come to Sendik's! They have fresh seafood, poultry, beef, and pork. They also tend to have good deals at times. The produce is great and fresh. I go out of my way when necessary to shop at this Sendik's location. The products are high quality and we almost always buy our produce here even if we complete our 'necessities' shopping elsewhere because the quality of the produce just can't be beat. It's also pretty much guaranteed that, if I need a hard-to-find item, Sendik's will have it. Amazing wine selection! Friendly staff who know me and ask how I'm doing. And if you need a last minute gift, shazaam!, Sendik's can fix that. This is one of those situations where I don't mind paying a little more for quality. read more

So yeah Sendik's overall may be a bit pricier than Pick'n'Save, but there are some key items you should really invest in a bit more anyway, like meat and produce. Things at Sendik' s have changed and in my opinion not for the better. I've witnessed leaders preparing food in the deli while chewing gum. I've witnessed associates removing moldy strawberries from a clamshell package and replacing it from a berry in another package. I've had a cashier behave inappropriately to me. I've shared my concerns to the store and have only heard back on the latter. The best thing in produce is the head lettuce. More often than not, the peppers are not fresh. The store will sell smaller produce items on a Styrofoam "plate" covered in plastic wrap. This causes the methane to permeate the vegetables leaving them tasting like methane. Watch the "use by" dates on all fresh meat. The dates are typically within 48 hours of the purchase date. We've also had issues with deli meat being bad as soon as 4 days after purchase. During our last visit, associates were cleaning the hot food station (with open food in the steamtable) and/or the floor in the produce working area. The entire corner of the store smelled like cleaning fluid. The smell was overbearing. I don't work at the health department, nor do I work in the food service industry; however, these seem to be common sense food preparation basics. Prices are inflated for the quality of products being sold. Very disappointed in the direction of Sendik's. read more

Sendiks has been going down hill for more than a year now both in quality of prepared food and also service. Bought German potato salad today which was completely disgusting and also French potato salad that was very disappointing . These two items are usually pretty good but apparently they have new help that doesn't follow the recipe. Also if you want anything from the Deli, be prepared to spend a lot of time waiting in line for for your number to come up if they are even using them. read more

They used to have a good fish fry. Went last week and it was frozen, breaded fish that they deep fried. The fish was mushy and tasteless and I don't think it was even cod. $15 for 3 pieces and 2 small potato pancakes. Their meat is the only reason I will still go there. read more

This store is like the United States of Tara - the personality changes depending on which department you're in. The wine department is stellar. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and if they don't have it they will get it for you. The cheese department is also excellent. The staff is very helpful and I love their selection and specials. The meat counter leaves me bewildered. There are more young people behind the counter who are courteous but they have no idea how to cut meat. Being a butcher is a skill that should be left to those who know how, not the after school high school boys. The bakery staff is helpful, warm, and efficient. Always a nice experience. The deli is deplorable. Each time I go there customers have to wait while two staff members are slicing meat. In the meantime, there are usually 4 more people standing in the back making salads. They could take some time out to help customers instead of making everyone wait. Last time I was there, one of them was stuffing meat in her mouth! I wonder what the health department would think of that. And usually those who are waiting on customers are not very friendly, probably from stress or being annoyed at all those co-workers doing nothing behind them. The one time I got a deli staff member to help me quickly, he was sarcastic and seemed annoyed. I hate the deli. The fruits and vegetables are high quality but as they say, you get what you pay for - the stuff is expensive. read more

Where is all this "high quality produce" everyone talks about? I can't buy produce here, because everything seems overripe. For the price we should be picking fruit off of trees. I come here for cheap milk on Thursdays. Otherwise this place is a lost cause. What's with the parking lot here? It's got to be the most frustrating parking lot to park in, especially in the winter when snow is piled up in some of the few parking spots. Specialty items? Is Ragú a specialty item? Most of this stuff is sold in other stores. The special things in the deli and meat sections taste exactly the same as what you would get at Pick N Save, which in turn doesn't taste as good as the products from the various area butcher shops. I really think the Sendik's concept was born in an area Country Club by Doctors and Lawyers to charge 50% more than the big box for a can of beans so they only have to deal with "those kind of people" at work. read more

I used to go to Sendiks a couple of times a week. Yes, they were more expensive, but I found their fruits and veggies were fresher and lasted longer, so the extra price was worth it to me. When they started trying to compete with your average grocery store (when they started their rewards program,) the prices stayed high, but the quality dropped. I started finding moldy potatoes in their pre-packed baskets and the same bananas they sell at WalMart for 50% less. I now only go occasionally for their ground sirloin and pork chops and I'll sometimes get something from their hot bar. Now, however, I'll only be getting their meats (until that quality goes down, too.) I bought some veggies and potatoes from their hot bar on Friday, and they must now be using MSG as I've had a severe allergic reaction that I only get with MSG. I made the mistake of putting in a Woodmans Oak Creek order. I was contacted that there were 18 outs but my order was on it's way. My order was the wrong order,which now is holding two people up. You can give the driver up to a 17.00 tip-really? I then placed an order with Sendiks which I should of used right away. My items were available and they use their own drivers. No tip 15.00 to pick order and they tell you not to tip. Food was excellent,service was fast. Woodmans said they are a smaller store then most which is why they don't have any stock-really? When I would spend a half day picking out my stuff in store. I think you would have better luck at the dollar store then Woodmans now. I will continue to use Sendiks they did a great job! My go-to place for seafood. Always a great selection of fresh fish and during the limited soft shell crab season it is the place to be. Good wine selection, great cheese department. Best selection of Boars Head deli products anywhere. Huge produce department (try Castle Rock grapes when they have them). Nice bakery selection. Best of all friendly, helpful employees. A bit pricey than Pick and Save but they carry products my PnS doesn't even dream about. read more

Sendik's in Franklin is truly the goto market for fine foods. Beginning with their beverage area they are extremely well stocked and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their dairy is best, bar none and again the staff is courteous and very knowledgeable. Now the meat department is great the butchers are right there to get you the best cut of meat for your needs. Their fish mongers are talented, knowledge and always ready to provide you with the best piece of seafood. The bakery has a plethora of choices baked not only by Sendik's, but some of Milwaukee's finest bakeries. The deli provides a selection of soups and salads made on site as well as an array of meats and cheeses for nearly every taste. Let's not forget about the olive bar! While they offer an array of fresh flowers; the crown jewel at Sendik's is the produce!! With worker bees tending the fresh fruits and vegetables its nearly impossible to walk through this area without filling your basket. I just love this place. IT is a 17 miles drive from my home to get here but it is the closest Sendik's to where I live. From the wine department staffed by quite knowledgeable people, to the cheese department with the same kinds of folks. Guys in the meat department today were doing their best to help a rather confused older lady while the guy working the seafood counter went out of his way to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. Bakery people were friendly and the young lady at the deli counter could not have been nicer. Well staffed, well stocked, well run. Some, not all, prices are higher than at other markets in the area but in this case I do get what I pay for in terms of service and quality product. read more
