    A and H Tree Service

We hired A&H Tree Service based on a neighbor's referral to remove a few branches from a large tree…read morein our yard. They did remove the branches--and maybe one more than expected--but overall, the work itself was fine, and they cleaned up the debris. That said, the customer experience left a lot to be desired. Communication was lacking throughout, except when they repeatedly followed up for the deposit. They didn't tell us in advance that our driveway and front street needed to be clear for their truck, so my partner had to rush home from work to move the car. After the job, no photos were shared, and when I asked about the price and 3% credit card fee, they pointed to the contract. Fair enough--but it would've been helpful if they had mentioned that upfront. I offered to send cash or a check to avoid the surcharge, but they said credit card is now the only accepted method. Between the lack of communication and inflexibility, I wouldn't recommend them based on customer service alone. Hopefully the residue left on our vinyl fence comes off with a hose.

Had a giant, massive tree removed in front of my property…read more 1. Little to no communication. Was told I needed to have police come (an extra not cheap cost) at 8 am. So why didn't A & H's team show up until closer to ten? "They're coming, don't worry." Easy for him not to worry; I'm the one paying. When I asked Javier about it, "don't worry, you'll get reimbursed back for the time." -Never happened. Never saw a dime of that back. 2.-A year later, needed to get the remainder of the stump ground down. They wouldn't commit to a day or time, or time frame. Told me they'd give me notice. They texted me an hour before. I wasn't home. Did they grind it? -Hardly. They were there and left within 45 minutes, and lo and behold, the stump was not ground sufficiently. 3. We had to have them come back, further cost, and at no point do they EVER remove the mulch. So this is just cost upon cost. And yet again, no communication. 4. At no point do they communicate clearly. Javier seems bothered, constantly. People are dropping thousands of dollars for services, and he seems annoyed, quite frankly. Would leave messages, for about 2 weeks continuously getting told someone would call back. -I'd wait a few days, no call back. The most frustrating experience.

Our first encounter with Jessica, our rep., went well…read more She was transparent about this company's services and answered my questions directly. The crew was great. I watched them remove my dead tree in a safe and deliberate way. The great job from the crew prompted me to use Bartlett for another job. What a different experience! Getting my second job scheduled has been a cat and mouse game. Delayed/staggered comms. from Jessica combined with a proposal that was difficult to understand has made our next job an uphill battle. The lack of transparency and inability to reach the appropriate admin who supposedly works with Jessica -- in addition to Jessica -- adds to the frustration level. I will also add that the sarcasm/mocking from one admin., who remarked, "Don't you hate when that happens?" when I complained to her is unprofessional and disappointing. Customer Service is Dead in New Jersey. Lying employees in New Jersey is the norm, apparently. UPDATE: After I posted this review, Jessica was more responsive. It does not make me happy to report that the only way to get a timely response was to go public & post this review. Sadly, I wonder if Jessica fell victim to listening to the racist women who have to slander others in order to feel better about themselves. I have never encountered so many intellectually deficient women in New Jersey who seem to model themselves after the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" -- reality 'stars' who promote the worst stereotypes of women. I have never encountered so many petty, insecure women who feel justified in slandering, bullying & harassing women because they are Lowlifes. These women are the most pathetic/hypocritical people who need help. I had to file police reports in Cedar Grove, Verona, Montclair & West Orange, NJ after racist, sick/crazy women harassed me. A Warning to Women Under 300 lbs Who Might be a Woman of Color: You might be a target for these sick/racist people. These women might follow you; conduct personal attacks to your face; lie about you because they are sick. These "people" and their sick line of thinking dictates that if a woman believes in exercise and self-care they might be some sort of right-wing person. Totally crazy. Exercise transcends political rhetoric. But try explaining this to these sick people who attack others because of their own racist & extremist ideologies. As an Asian woman who grew up with an Italian-American mother, I am shocked at the level of racism I have experienced in Montclair, Cedar Grove, Verona & West Orange, New Jersey. Very sad. Disgraceful.
