I was faced with moving my sweet sister from San Antonio, Tx where she lived for 50 years+, had been consecutively hospitalized and received rehab several times over 4 months to the metro Houston area where I lived. The resources the rehab case manager gave us were all San Antonio based. Not helpful! One of the SA resources told me about Syed and his company. What a blessing. Syed is responsive, a great listener regarding what I expected and needed for my sister and he's extremely knowledgeable of the assisted living systems and the providers especially in the Houston metro area. My sister - intellectually very bright, extremely articulate and a great communicator- had very high levels of physical and personal care needs. She was disabled, a wheelchair rider, and had a speech impediment. Syed always made me feel that we would find the best care for her. He understood her challenges, he was very well acquainted with the facilities for me to interview which could meet her needs and my expectations. I didnt have much time between when we were told of her discharge and her planned discharge.I felt a tremendous amount of pressure to make the best decision I could and bring back 1-2 recommendations to her, for her to make her decision. Literally over a span of a 2 day weekend, I arrived in the Houston area and we had appointments and visited 6- 7 facilities relatively close to my home. Syed personally accompanied me to each facility and provided many insights that I wouldnt have otherwise known about as I met with the facility representatives. My sister and I agreed upon a wonderful assisted living facility, the Village at Sugar Land. I visited her every day. The staff was kind, experienced, and demonstrated that they were actively trying to help her adjust and take care of her needs. He truly has a gift to find out what the family wants, what the patient needs and what each facility can and cannot offer to the family and patient. With that knowledge, Syed can significantly narrow down your choices so that your time is wisely spent looking at places that are in line with your financial parameters, yet still fit the patient's personal care needs and social needs. And, believe me, with 11 siblings in our family to deal with, it is a testament to him that he did not change professions trying to juggle all of our wants and needs. We actually ended up spending less money than we anticipated as there were things we thought our loved one needed that he, in fact, did not need at that time. I could not have gotten my grandmother into a assisted living facility without Syed's help. I was given a 48 hour notice that she had to be out of the rehabilitation center and fortunately the social worker from the rehab connected me with Syed. Day 1 he got all our info and day 2 he took me to 3 showings. I picked the one I liked most and filled out paperwork that evening.
