Size of an assisted living community can also affect ones experience. At The Birches everyone knows their residents and family members by name. We graduate through different stages of life and assisted living is one of the big ones. Everyone should think a little bigger ... and think about what's coming next Assisted living isn't forever and The Birches offers an excellent and intimate memory care unit known as Encore. You can't really know what it's like to live in an assisted living facility until you do it. But you can get a very telling taste if you visit your potential options first. In today's age, it's highly understandable that folks would like to do an internet search and find something quickly and be done. But this is also where you or a loved one is going to live for the foreseeable future - you wouldn't buy a house or car from an internet search sight unseen. The Birches encourages visiting the facility on your schedule, talking to the staff and residents, attending a meal and getting a sense of the environment. Safety and security features are very important for the senior and offer peace of mind for the caregiver. Safety is the number one concern, bathrooms are accessible and have grab bars in convenient locations. Residents all wear medical alert wristlets or necklaces and all bathrooms are equipped with help buttons. Residents can also contact staff by speed dials on their phone if they have an emergency in their living area. There are many safety features available in living quarters and throughout the community. Ample staffing and staffing patterns to on-site at all times to assist residents. Registered nurses are on site All residents can take advantage of medication management/assistance if needed. The attitude and friendliness of the staff are of the utmost importance. They listen and make eye contact and are proactive The management team is always accessible. Even having family members themself living there Assisted living is exactly what it sounds like. It is living your current daily life with minimal assistance. When residents are looking for a wonderful assisted living facility they should consider how they want to live. This community will ensure that their residents still have all of the opportunities for freedom and enjoyment in their life that they had before they moved. The ability to freely do whatever you want and are capable of is important. The ability to go to the grocery, walk to the store, take care of a pet. Having these freedoms should not be taken for granted. Continuing with life's daily activities is a wonderful quality to have in a community, but it is also important that you are comfortable. Having a facility that takes are of cooking and housekeeping hassles are wonderful to have in order to release the stress they have been causing and be able to relax and have fun with activities that the vicinity provides. One of the major perks of no longer having to deal with cooking and housekeeping is that you are free to participate in more fun activities than ever before There are plenty of exciting activities that will stimulate your loved ones brain and ensure that they are never bored. My mother has lived at the Birches for several years, and she absolutely loves it! I love it, too,…read moreand here are some of the reasons why: Unlike other assisted living facilities, the Birches feels like home. The facility is beautifully maintained, featuring lovely gardens, a cozy fireside room for reading/socializing, and a welcoming dining room (among other things). Residents are treated like family. The staff is absolutely outstanding! They really take the time to get to know each and every resident, and it's oh-so-evident how much they care. Not only are they responsive to my questions, but they always seem to be a step ahead with whatever my mother needs. There are an abundance of activities to cater to any interest: games, musical performances, meditation, exercise, crafts. Residents are encouraged to participate, but they're left with plenty of autonomy to decide for themselves. The dining room feels like an actual restaurant. The servers quickly learned my mother's preferences, making her feel incredibly special. The food is excellent, and it's always served with warmth and a smile. The director of the Birches leads with love. She sets the tone for the whole place, and it comes across in everything they do. I could go on and on. If you're looking for assisted living for a loved one, the Birches is the best! Highly, highly recommend!

I left a message that I would like an appointment and Dr. Johnson called me to ask which doctor…read morereferred me. I said I found her online searching for a doctor who understands low carb and would give me a comprehensive health eval and do extra blood tests that 99% of other doctors don't do. Also, I'm getting older and I suspect I have inflammation. She spoke a bit about what she does. It was what I was looking for. She mentioned her fee and I was ok with the fee. Then she said she only takes referrals from doctors because "most people don't understand what she does". If she just stopped her sentence at "only takes referrals from doctors" I would have thanked her and the conversation would have ended. But I replied that I do understand what she does and that I have a lot of knowledge about low carb and have done it on and off for years and have had success in weight loss and felt better. But I didn't stick with it because of my lifestyle and now in my 50's I have inflammation and I want to work with a doctor like her. She said she disagreed with me about why I didn't stick to low carb as if she has any clue about me, my health and life. She rambled on and kept pushing me for a doctors name even after I said I didn't have one. So thinking maybe it would help, I revealed a minor health issue I had in 2016 and how that doctor (I mentioned that doctor by name) told me to go low carb. She immediately started talking so she had no idea what I did and didn't do for treatment and what results were of tests I had back then in regard to this issue and that I have had no issues with it since. The conversation went on for a while and it was a jumbled mess. She was all over the place with her words. She spoke erratically. There was nothing linear about our conversation. She called me "obese". I never told her my height and weight but she probably took an educated guess thinking from a BMI perspective I am considered "obese". That's true but visually speaking I am overweight but I do not look obese. I'm not even in plus size clothing. It was totally unnecessary for her to call me obese in this conversation. Then she told me to go to any ol' MD, which is exactly what I don't want. I remember her saying the word "bariatric" in her mess of words and then she said that I need to get on pharmaceuticals and HRT. I said I want a doctor who will use nutrition and supplements first and see how it goes. She said it wouldn't be possible for me to do that and be successful with my health. She said this to me with minimal information about me and no lab work. I was shocked how a doctor who presents herself on her website as using food, fasting and supplements for health just wanted to pawn me off on any ol' MD and get on pharmaceuticals and HRT. I have read a ton of books and listened to a lot of podcasts on low carb, keto, carnivore and fasting. I know a lot can be corrected without drugs and HRT. And her website leads you to think she knows this too. Finally she sounded as if she had enough of dealing with me and wrapped up the conversation pushing me away and wishing me well in my health (something like that, it was a crazy whirlwind) and I literally stood there mouth agape at the appalling manner in which this doctor handled this entire conversation. Her site says her protocols "are designed to prevent the onset of chronic diseases and limit the progression of aging." Judging by her very comprehensive website I should have been a shoo-in for this doctor. But no. Something is very "off" about her. Update: Just looked at the facebook page for her practice. She claims she stands with "science" and that fraud Fauci. She actually believes "testing" with that fake PCR test means anything. She's masked up like a c0v-id cult freak in a few photos. She is decked out in these things. LOL She's a conventional medical industrial complex MD who just happens to follow a low carb/keto diet. I dodged a bullet.
