Prior to their big fire, this place was a favorite of ours to eat at; service and food were always good. They reopened this week and we wanted to try it again. Arrived around 4:30 pm on Friday and the place was not crowed at all, we were seated in the first booth by the door and it was so dark, I asked the seater to move us to a different booth or table with more lighting, he did so, but with a lot of attitude that was not appreciated. Chips and drinks came fairly quick, then we sat that there for over 20 minutes looking at the menu with cell phone flashlights because it was still too dark to read the menu otherwise, and I had to flag down a waiter to take our order, food arrived sometime later, lukewarm and tasted bland (ordered two enchiladas (chicken) and a tamale, rice and beans; ended up with beef enchiladas instead). Their prices have increased significantly since before the fire. and for the service and food quality we received, it was not worth the money; there are better Mexican restaurants in this town which are much more reasonably priced for the same menu items. We will not return here, it was a disappointment for sure. read more

When we were ordering I asked the waiter if the fajitas were grilled on a grill not stir fried in a sauce. Picture in menu shows cast iron skillet showing grill marks. I said I want fajita's but only if they are grilled. I do not like the cooked in red sauce chicken fajitas. Again he assured me Grilled. Brings me stir fry chicken in watered down red sauce. I tell him I do not like these that's why I asked he said ok. No apology , did not remove it from ticket even though I just ate the rice and guacamole. Salsa tasted like Chef Boyardee pizza sauce. My husband got enchiladas and tacos, equally disgusting. Don't eat here! I give it negative stars. read more

Loyal customer no more. Have to say this used to be one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in town. I can't say that any more. Tonight we learned of a new policy, I guess (still can't believe it and makes now sense), but evidently each table gets 1 of the little salsa jugs free, every additional is an upcharge. How much, I didn't ask, I was too put off by the shock of this as we ordered the same as every other week. We love their salsa and it was one of the main reasons we went. But we have lots of Tex-Mex options here in town and will now be taking our business more frequently to those locations. read more

We visited as a couple. Even though there was plenty of seating away from a large group laughing and talking very loudly we were seated nearby which was not our usual experience at Señor Salsa. The group were so loud that we could barely have a normal conversation at our table. For health reasons we have began eating vegetarian. An entree on the menu that is listed as vegetarian having a side of rice and a side of beans, I ask the food counselor if the beans are made with pork products and lard. The food counselor said yes, the beans have pork products in them. I ask what could I have in place of the beans? The food counselor said the only thing I could have in place of the beans is more rice. I ordered something else. At this point given the misinformation in regards to vegetarian entrees we may not eat at this facility in the future. read more

My husband and I were without the kids so we decided to go out to eat. I had the enchilada, and tamale combo. The food was excellent, and my only complaint is that my tamale looked like it just fell apart and they just plopped it on my plate. I just popped in for some chips and queso. My late husband's favorite snack food. I ordered from an older gentleman, ( I believe he is the owner) he acted like I was bothering him. I watched as he walked to the kitchen where he told another employee my order and they both laughed. I apologize for missing my husband. He came back with my order and I paid him and he acted like I was such an imposition to him. I repeated everything about the whole encounter and told him how rude he was and why I ordered what I ordered then he couldn't speak English. You may as well belly up to a salt lick instead of eating at Senor Salsa. The description of the El Patron Special, featuring Carnitas Burritos, made my mouth water. Once I had a bite, I was scrambling to get water in my mouth... not to make brine but to wash down the awful taste. The pork was overcooked and chewy. My sister and her husband like this place, it seems to be quite popular, but I had a very disappointing experience there. I ordered the "grilled shrimp burrito" and was given a small, taco-sized flour tortilla with five grilled shrimp perched on top of it. It wasn't even rolled up, and burritos are, generally, rolled up. That's why they call them burritos. So that was it. No cheese, no beans, no lettuce or guacamole, no salsa, no onions or tomatoes, no other accoutrements on the side, nothing. It was just one, sad little flour tortilla with five grilled shrimp on a teeny-tiny plate. And it was 10 or 11 bucks. Now: I don't have a Ph.D. in burritology, but I am 53-years-old and I've eaten my fair share of burritos, and I can tell you: that's not a burrito. I asked the waiter (very nice) if he could bring me some cheese and maybe some other things to make this "burrito" into a full meal, and he did, and I made my own burrito because I go to restaurants to make my own dinner, but I wonder to this day where señor salsa learned to make burritos. Food was really good. The menu is huge. Service was fast and there was always someone you could grab to get you whatever you need. I just hate that I had to grab someone. Our server refilled our drinks once and got our order taken pretty quickly- but that was about it. Was never given silverware, offered a dessert, or any other normal stuff.
