I adquiere this plugs for noisy job. I thought because they are costume made supposed to be better. The Final product quality was not satisfactory the filter in one hear was not deep enough that filter almost pop up causing me to try to adjust while wearing it. Every time. Also the Dr. Pick out the filter with very low decibel protection. I wish it was higher. Then the other one seems too deep were the filter go in. My advice to you shop around. Get your hands on a good pair from someone to see for your self . how they supposed to look like with filters. Also if you decide to go to this place don't miss appointments. because the Dr. Shannon personally will call you to let you know she will charge you for a cancel appointment even when you canceled it. Interesting fact" they don't post that information anywhere online or in the front office. Go to a Real hospital to get molds also you don't need a hearing test to get custom ear plugs just to cancel work noise 85 decibels from loud TV or loud music . read more

As a professional musician who wears in ear monitors 8 shows a week, every week of the year, I need a product that offers me great sound, wears comfortably, and works reliably. I've found that with Sensaphonics. I'm on my 2nd pair of D2s; the first pair lasted me 4.5 years of hard use with no issues, and when an issue finally did come up with one ear, I had a brand new pair remade by Sensaphonics at a very reasonable price. I had a bad experience and I would steer towards Microsonics. I had the audiologist make a custom pair of molds. They told me that I could use them to get multiple pairs of earplugs. I ordered a pair of Sensaphonics online. I shipped my molds to them. They don't me that I couldn't use the molds. I am out the cost of shipping the molds to them and they charged me $16 to ship them back to me. Their communication was really subpar. I would steer clear. read more

I spent nearly $2000 with them for hearing protection. two sets of mold that never fit correctly and never sealed my hearing so truly the 5 dollar foamy ear plugs from walgreens would have served me better and they will not refund me at all. They are unethical. I had been performing full time for my career (4 nights a week) but quit performing music because I spent so much money with sensaphonics on equipment that didn't fit and didn't work. Because there was no refund at all, I unfortunately was faced with a decision to quit performing or perform with inadequate protection for months to afford trying something else. I decided not to take the hearing damage and quit instead. That was my choice but I do think their lack of ethical consideration put me in a position to have to make a choice like that. read more

I got my first pair of Sensaphonics custom fitted earplugs with Etymotic attenuated musician filters in 2012 - and still use the one from then in one ear. I dropped and lost the earplug for the other ear and recently ordered and received a replacement (that required getting and sending a new ear impression since they don't seem to keep them on file or want to reuse physical molds any older than 18 months). The new earplug fits fine but seems to be made of a different material than the original (which I sent to match) - making it easy for me to tell which earplug is for which ear. The difference in color/appearance isn't really an issue since they are meant to be worn inside the ear and are not very visible to others, let alone the difference between them easily noticed or compared from one ear to the other from the front). Unlike some other custom earplug manufacturers, customers can order directly from Sensaphonics - and not have to go through a "provider" (except to get an ear impression, if needed), which may make the cost less. Their lab charges are similar to other companies - but they claim to use better materials. read more

This is an update after owning these $2500 in-ears for a couple years. Unfortunately, the clip on the back of these packs is made with cheap plastic instead of metal. Even my old cheap Shure in-ears had a metal clip. I wear a belt, and so of course when I put the plastic (ahem, BELT clip) around the belt then the little plastic clip broke. I called the awesome STAN when this happened and he assured me that it would be a free repair and that I just needed to send them in to get fixed. I was about to go on tour and so I asked if they could send me one of the demo packs to use while they fixed mine. He said they could do that but all the demos were out and to get in touch in a few weeks to see if a demo was back. No problem! Well a few weeks later, I reached out and Stan no longer worked there. I forwarded the email exchange I had with Stan to the new lady and I was then told that actually the repair would not be free, but would cost $200!!! To fix a broken piece of plastic!!! What a joke. Feels like a real ripoff for something that should have been built right in the first place. They lost my support. read more

I have had Sensaphonics custom ear sleeves for my Shure 535's for several years. Recently, my one of the cords for my 535's went kaput. Shure replaced my 535's with 535-V's (for an upgrade charge). Immediately I noticed that the left ear sleeve had a 'sound leak'; that is, external noise was very noticeable in my left ear. Playing with this I found that if I squeezed the ear sleeve just so, the 'sound leak' would go away and the sound was as isolated as the right ear. I contacted Sensaphonics via their email form on the website on a Sunday night asking if there was anything I could do, e.g. heat/reform the ear sleeve to conform to the Shure earpiece, etc. The next morning, I had a reply from Stan at Sensaphonics - quick response. He cautioned against heat/reforming the ear sleeves and suggested sending them into Sensaphonics where they could apply lacquer to 'build up' the area where the ear sleeves were not sealing against the Shure earphones. I sent the ear sleeves off to Sensaphonics and Stan's attention for delivery on Wednesday. On Thursday morning Stan called to let me know that the 'fix' had been accomplished and there was no charge. He verified my return address and I paid for the return shipping. I will have my ear sleeves back by next Monday. This is some of the best customer service I have received and was far beyond my expectations of most companies these days. This level of service and responsiveness is reason enough to recommend Sensaphonics for custom hearing protection, custom ear sleeves for 'In Ear Monitors' and any of their other products. I have been touring for the past 7 years with Wicked the musical. We do 8 shows a week with about 2500 shows done so far. The show is 2 1/2 hours long. This is my 20th year using in ears, musicians earplugs, sleepers you name it, got it all. It seems I'm always shoving something in my ears. I'm a huge advocate for hearing protection and comfort. When I heard about the 3D ambient monitors and the soft silicon Sensaphonics uses, I was sold!! I paid $2000 for the 3D Ambient single driver, a Zypher dehumidifier (WITH UV!!), drying strips, cleaning wipes... basically all the periphery material to treat these things like kid gloves I treated these things like the tears of Jesus! After every 3 hour show, I'd wipe them, clean them, put them directly in the Zypher for drying. Next show, check for wax play 3 hours, wipe them, put them in the Zypher. I changed the brick before the shelf life, everything I possibly could......my left ear stop working after 7 months. They told me they'd have to break them open to find out if it was covered under warranty or not. If it wasn't covered, they'd have to charge me $300 an ear to fix. I told them to break them open and if it wasn't covered, to chuck them out the window. Well they break them open. Not covered by warranty. Moisture they say. They tell me I have to buy a ZYPHER. I tell them I have one of those. I use it daily. Sometimes twice. I change the brick every 2 months instead of the recommended 3. Change the brick every month they say. I even put drying strips in it! They talked to the big cheese and they say we will redo them for free. Ok,Thank you! Wow! May '14 - The first set of replacement monitors didn't seal properly. I send them back ($$) they modify them. They send them back modified. They don't fit. Oct '14 - Asked again for new impressions I got them done in early November and shipped them. They lost them (Nov 21), then they found them (Nov 26). Dec 3 They tell me they actually never found it. They never picked it up so it was returned to NY. I'm on the road and NY is just managements address forwarding to me on the road, so it takes a while getting them back and resending ($$) Jan 7, 2015 HAPPY NEW YEAR I almost get my second pair of monitors. They sent them to the wrong address so I got them Jan 21. Didn't fit. They wanted new impressions again. I happen to be in Atlanta at the Fox when they call and give me the name of someone they trust there. Apparently they didn't trust the people I had been using. I taxi up and meet these wonderful people. Of the dozens of times I've had hearing test and impressions, these guys where fine. March '15 I get my monitors! They don't fit. April '15 I send them back for adjustments. May '15 I received my THIRD set of monitors (4th altered). They did not fit. I thanked them for their time over the past year and a half trying to fix these monitors but I was done. Personally, they confirmed that my sweat and oil were damaging the product no matter how many times I cleaned then, dried them in the Zypher and meditated on them (not really). Well I'm a drummer and I sweat. These products should be made at this price point to handle that. If you're doing this for a living and count on your products to work, have a backup or these are not the products for you. I would not buy the 3D Ambient. Save your money. If money is not an option and you can replace them, man, they are super comfortable (when they fit) and sound fantastc (when they work). The mics are are a blast to play with and extremely versatile on the job. To be able to mix in stage sound or toggle full ambient to talk to bandmates and crew if fantastic. (when they work). All in all, extremely fun to play shows with, but at $2000 for an extremely fragile product and 7 months of use totally not worth it. We got together and had a discussion about in ear monitors and I'm happy to report none of them went with sensaphonics due to problems with their products. Mainly from my experience. When I was in college, I came here for a fitting for custom fit earplugs. (I used to be a sound engineer and wearing earplugs greatly decreased the advent of hearing loss.) Michael Santucci, the Audiologist, both tested my hearing and fitted me for the earplugs. The test was very interesting, as it gave me a clear picture of my hearing, the range of frequencies that I could hear, and the range of frequencies that I could not hear very well. The earplugs were fitted to those specs and also came with two other filters and my molds, just in case I needed new ear plugs in the future. Also, because I was a Columbia College Audio student, I believe that I got a bit of a discount in the exam and purchasing said earplugs. I don't know if that is still true, but it's something that can be definitely checked. read more

I purchased a set of Shure SE425's for Christmas 2015, and only recently noticed the accompanying flyer that Sensaphonics made custom molded ear sleeves for Shure. I use the 425's primarily for my IPod and online listening, and although completely satisfied with them, always looking for even better sound. I had the ear impressions done by an audiologist. When I received the ear sleeves, the right side was difficult to put in. After contacting Stan, who after a series of questions concerning what I using them for, how the impressions were made and sending pictures of the impressions, ear sleeves and how I had inserted them in my ears to him, he advised to have new impressions made, and to make sure I brought a copy of Sensaphonics requirements regarding ear impressions. I asked if there would be an additional charge, and he said no, as Sensaphonics wanted to make sure they were right and that I was satisfied. I saw a different audiologist, who was well acquainted with Sensaphonics and their requirements. She stated they were very highly regarded in the industry, especially with musicians/performers. Upon seeing the original impressions she stated that they were not made properly, and made a new set according to specs. Received the new sleeves a week ago, and extremely pleased. Not only is there a great seal, whereas virtually all outside noise is blocked, but I am hearing details and sounds in the music I have never heard before. I am truly appreciative to Sensphonics, and to Stan in particular, for their craftsmanship, integrity and commitment to satisfying the requirements of their customers. When I save enough from my allowance (haha) to buy the Shure SE846's, I will make sure to have Sensaphonics make the ear sleeves. read more

I am camera operator for a large church and found that I was turning the intercom volume up almost all the way to overcome the loud music in the room with the standard headsets. I bought a new headset type that has a Jack for standard earphones. I bought the Etymotic Er3 and got the custom sleeves from Sensaphonics. This used to be a top notch company but now their product and customer service are both terrible. I'm a professional guitarist who plays/has played with Joe Walsh, The B-52s, The Goo Goo Dolls, Sunny Day Real Estate and many more. I'm very familiar with quality in-ears and customer service and these guys provide neither anymore. I would recommend JH Audio ears. MUCH better product and customer service. As a professional I expect to be treated with respect and professionalism. I had some damaged/deteriorated Sensaphonics and took them in to be looked at. After being told that the drivers had failed I was given NO options. NONE! Terrible customer service. The guy simply told me they failed and were unsalvageable. I wasn't presented with any options for replacement. Very disappointing. Do not get your in-ears here. read more

I used my monitors for about 2 years off an on...mainly for listening to music while working out or riding bikes etc... . Had to have them replaced once due to corrosion in my left ear think that cost me $300? Bottom line these monitors are great! Unfortunately what makes them great also creates an issue ie.. dry box to dry them out, clean them if you sweat at all, wax build up etc... . I don't have any real issues with that because I was doing it for my investment. As of right now they are sitting back in my closet where they have been for the better part of a year when once again the the left monitor starting messing up. Would I purchase again....perhaps if I was a touring musician who had someone to clean them and get them replaced when needed. Expensive and great for some but really did not work for my needs. read more

As a musician, one thing I can't recommend enough is using custom molded in-ear monitors. That said, stay away from Sensaphonics!!! The pair I got from them never worked properly or sounded any good from day one despite being painfully expensive. After only occasional use over the years, they started to fail and became unusable so I sent them in for repairs. They told me that my in-ears were essentially beyond repair and that they would require a complete rebuild which would be $1,000!!! Since I was never happy with them in the first place I decided to shop around and found a competitor who has a model of higher clarity in-ears that I was able to order for considerably less. So now Sensaphonics is charging me a ridiculous amount to ship back (from Chicago to Milwaukee, by the way) the ear molds that the Audiologist who made them for me shipped to Sensaphonics for free. I could practically go pick them up for less. Goodbye and thanks for nothing, Sensaphonics. read more

Stan is the man! I had a great experience considering I live in South Carolina and did everything by phone and mail. Had my impressions made locally, called in to placed my order for Shure Sleeves to fit my se425's, and shipped Sensaphonics my molds. Less than 2 weeks later popped them in for the first time with my band and noticed right away my right ear didn't seal - left ear perfect. After talking it over with Stan through email I sent my right sleeve back to be adjusted. A week later, had it back in hand and fit perfectly. My custom sleeves make the 425's sound much better with a tighter low end than when I used the throwaway foam tips that came with them. Being a bass player I hated going to in ears and losing that sweet low end out of my cabs, but these sleeves combined with good Shure drivers makes it more tolerable. read more

CHICAGO PEOPLE (especially musicians): Go visit Sensaphonics In-Ear Monitors and Musician Earplugs as soon as you can! I had an ear blockage from swimming on about five days ago while on tour and spent the rest of it barely hearing out of one ear. When I got back I tried a few internet remedies to solve my problem but none of them worked. I was honestly worried I might not hear right ever again. In a panic, I called Heather, who kindly gave me some advice. When that didn't fix the problem she scheduled a check up for me. She took a quick look at it and sand-blasted enough wax out of my head to build a small replica of myself, and now I feel like a whole new man! It's incredible! She also went ahead and gave me a hearing test while I was there and assured me I wasn't going deaf, which is great to hear when you play drums as often as I do. I can't say it emphatically enough, If you use your ears on a semi-regular basis (and I'm pretty sure we all do) then you owe it to yourself to visit Sensaphonics! read more

I've been using the Sensaphonics 2X-S in-ear monitors and dbCheck sound analyzer for more than a year now and I couldn't be happier with them. I've had zero negative issues with them - they're well built, and show no signs of age after more than a year of heavy use. Even the replaceable cable is in great shape - something I found wasn't the case with the in-ears I was using before. I was previously using a pair of universal-fit UE monitors with Comply tips, and was pretty happy with them, but found that I was replacing the cable a couple of times a year. As far as sound quality, I just didn't realize how much a difference upgrading to custom molds would make. The soft silicone earpieces are very comfortable to wear for extended periods, and the drivers have a great frequency response. It's important to get a good fit for in-ear monitors to work well, especially in the low end, so be sure to go to an audiologist who is very familiar with fitting in-ears. Sensaphonics has a list of such audiologists on their website, and I highly recommend you pay attention to their recommendations. If you're in the market for custom in-ear monitors, I highly recommend you take a very close look at Sensaphonics. read more

After reading many reviews and watching many you tube reviews I decided to buy a set of Shure 846 IEM's. If you haven't had the chance to hear these, I must say they are worth every penny as long as you don't loose them you'll have them for a long time, the sound is amazing, it's like going from old tube tv to high definition, you just hear more things than ever before, like not just that the audience is talking but what they are saying. I have always wanted custom IEM's made from impressions from my ears, but decided that these were a happy modest choice (if you call $1000 modest) compared to much more expensive IEM's. Then I saw that you could get custom sleeves made from Sensaphonics, and after some reading I was sold. I went and paid $100 to get my ear impressions made and sent them with payment to get the sleeves made. I live in Hawaii, so of course the automated shipping charges were quoted extremely high, I wrote to Stan at Sensaphonics and he was kind enough to reimburse some of the initial shipping charges and send them USPS. I really think this was a cool gesture, as most company's usually have the "it is what it is attitude". Anyways I received my new sleeves and my modified ear impressions back in a couple weeks and tried them out. This was a completely new experience for me , I have never had anything like it inserted into my ears, and it took a bit of time to figure it out as many will comment, but you get used to it and it gets easier after time. I found that one side sounded a bit dampened and after a closer look the pipe end of the IEM looked as if it was pressed into the silicone, a bit of wiggling and it seemed to help, I think. They felt good, then I felt how far out of my ears they seemed to protrude. I know this is only cosmetic, but it really bothered me, I looked at them closely and also noticed that one sides sound canal was very close to the outside of the mold. I wrote to Stan and he said to send them back and as their guarantee says they will either make a mod or remake them if your not happy with the fit. I sent them right back with an expiration and waited for the return. I received them back and noticed that the new ones had larger sound canals that were placed deeper in the molds, this took care of the one that was close to the outside of the mold. I wear these when I ride my scooter or motorcycle, and when I did I heard wind noise coming from the left ear, if you don't have a good seal in your ear with the sleeve it takes away from the sound quality and it won't attenuate the outside ambient noise which totally ruins the overall sound quality. I trouble-shooted it to being a bad seal on the left unit,I again contacted Stan by email and explained the situation, he again asked me to send them back in and they would adjust or remake them. I did once again send them back and waited to received the repaired or remade units. I received them again not long after and indeed they were not leaking air anymore, what I did notice though is how non symmetric they had gotten, as in one wire connection isn't pointing the same way as the other and one really bugged out further from my ear than the other, again both cosmetic but to me very annoying as my ear impressions are pretty symmetric. Maybe I'm more picky because of my profession, but I knew I just wouldn't wear these as much as I should for costing what they did, I just wasn't satisfied. I again wrote Stan and explained , he once again asked me to send them back, I did again with a note. Let me say now, Stan has been nothing but professional during all of my correspondence with him, I have been what I would consider brutally honest and direct with my thought's, I have often felt after the fact I might have come across a bit harsh, but again honest.Stan always comes across with a genuine response and wants to do the right thing. I know that all ears are like fingerprints, the Shure IEM's are a bit bulky when putting them into full sleeves. They have a standard method of doing so. I felt as though they could insert the IEM deeper into my sleeves as I could see through them and all the extra room for doing so, I explained this. My latest pair of sleeves showed up not long after, I installed the Shure IEM's and noticed now that the sound tube has been returned to the original size of the first pair but placed better in the sleeve canal, both sides are now a bit lower profile when worn and there are no air leaks, the wires come out very symmetrically . As it took several tries , I think the lab that made these paid a bit more attention to detail this last time and provided me a good pair of sleeves that I will be happy to wear and enjoy. I gave 4 of 5 stars just because I feel the same attention to detail could have saved some shipping charges on both sides and some labor time on their side. I see these getting better as time goes by and maybe if there is room having the IEM placed even deeper in the sleeve. I would recommend these now. read more

This is my second time with Sensaphonics as I just had new ear molds for some Shure 425's and custom ear filters with Etymotic research. They fit great, they won't ever fall out. I love how the ear filters allow me to play drums in practice and live and still hear my band so I can really react to them musically. This was as important to me as saving my hearing.
