Sensi is a nice intimate place with a lovely atmosphere. You can come here with your friends or with your date. The food is good - especially the potato gratin and filet - although not very spanish. I was pretty disappointed of the Paella - it seems like they try to modern cuisine rather than sticking with traditional spanish food. Just ate here on a Tuesday night (4/11/17) and it was packed. We came around 8 pm and were seated pretty quickly without reservations. We ordered the following: shaved ham, croquettes, stuffed squid with mushroom, steak n' mashed potatoes, chicken with carrot purée, shrimp in coconut sauce, cod, and eggplant. Everything was extremely tasty and I would totally recommend all the dishes mentioned above. There were 3 of us and we each had two drinks. Bill came to about $120 without tip. This was our first tapas meal upon arriving to Spain, and our minds were blown by this INCREDIBLE tapas bar. The service was fantastic and considerably quick (about 7-10 minute serving time). The food was very creative, high quality, fair priced, and delicious! From what the bartender told us, it appears Sensi has four locations in Barcelona and each one has a different chef and different tapas menu. This place is fantastic! These were the best tapas I had while in my stay in Barcelona for a few days, a twist between french and foreign cuisine and traditional Spanish tapas. Beware, it's a popular joint so make a reservation. We were lucky enough and got a spot at the bar, which was almost even better, the bartender spoke french and English in addition to his Spanish and was extremely friendly and patient. If you're trying tapas for the first time GO HERE. They are delicious and there's a great assortment to choose from. We got the patatas bravas, seafood paella, ham croquettes and the raviolis. My husband and I went here for our last dinner in Barcelona. I wish we went there every night. We did not make reservations but the manager managed to fit us in within 35 minutes. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The food was outstanding in order of greatest we had the chorizo, truffle ravioli, filet, scallops, potatoes bravas and paella. I'm very sorry to say that I was very disappointed. The staff works very hard and they are nice! It was my boyfriend's last night in Barcelona with me and he wanted to eat "Suckling pig". I got on Yelp to help me find a good place and Sensi seemed to be the best option. Four stars and a half!!!! Wow! We get there and the place is full, meanwhile other restaurants around it are empty. We think, "Well, it must be good, let's wait for seats at the bar since we don't have a reservation." We had a drink at a bar next door and then went back. We sat at the bar on this tiny stools that I had to turn sideways in order to fit 3/4 of my butt (I'm a size 6) on it. It was uncomfortable. The menu sounds great, everyone seems to enjoy being there so I tried to relax and enjoy as well. My boyfriend is super excited about the tapas we ordered and they were quick to bring the first tapas (3 medium size grilled shrimps with Asian noodles) and our bottle of wine. Cups were clean, dishes were semi clean. The taste was OK, normal. Oh, well, let's see about the rest: Deboned suckling pig, risotto foie gras, Catalan mushroom soup, duck casserole. Everything was OK, just OK. Portions were smaller than regular tapas already are. I had more wine than I had food. When the bill came, there was a charge for utensils and bread for less than €3. One of the best meals of my life! We started with patatas bravas and the shrimp ceviche. The ceviche was the best I've ever had. It has banana and apple in it and it's out of this world! Now let's start on the patatas bravas, wow! Delicious!!! Like gourmet potatoe fries with the most delicious sauce. Moving on to our salad with little crostini toasts with Brie and mushroom sautée, it was tasty and unique. Next up was our seafood paella and the truffle ravioli. Oh. My. God. I cannot say enough good things about Sensi tapas. Thanks to Yelp, we headed to Sensi for dinner one night during our stay in Barcelona. We didn't have a reservation (poor call), but the restaurant was able to seat us at the bar. We each ordered three tapas, as my friend is vegetarian and I am not. I had the sauteed mussels in red curry, seafood paella, and the mushroom "crema catalana," while my friend ordered the truffle ravioli in a parmesan cream, "Piquillos" peppers, and the papas bravas. I have to say, everything was absolutely amazing. The mussels in red curry were perfectly cleaned and cooked, the seafood paella was the right size for one person (since we couldn't share elsewhere), the mushroom dish was surprisingly sweet, and the bite I stole of the piquillos peppers was fantastic. Couple that with a delicious house wine that reminded me a bit of a sauvignon blanc and complimentary limoncello at the end of the evening, and this becomes my absolute favorite meal of the four week trip. I will ABSOLUTELY go back next time I'm in Spain. read more

I will start by saying that the food is good. The ox cheek mini burgers were amazing, and that alone saved this restaurant from a worse rating. The restaurant itself is painfully loud (due to size and the walls being brick all around), and they feel the need to pump in loud music on top of it. The restaurant is also extremely warm, even though we visited in March and for dinner (which is around 9pm in Spain). No matter how often we spoke Spanish to the servers/workers, they constantly responded in English. As for the sleazy practices, the server automatically puts bread on your table, as is common in many parts of Spain. As is common in Sevilla, the bread is not free (which we knew and intentionally put it off to the side without eating it), and eating even one piece will cost typically about 1€ per person. The other sleazy part is that they automatically charged for it, even though our bill was brought over immediately after our server took the bread away from the table. We've seen this trick before, and were quick to call them on it, but for someone who doesn't know enough Spanish it would be an easy thing to miss. Also, the in person menu (but not online) states that for eating in the restaurant, every person must purchase the equivalent of two tapas. In reality, with the combination of the atmosphere and the shady practices, the food really only brings it up to 2.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow me to put that. I don't see any situation in which I will return to this restaurant, and would recommend to avoid it. read more

We came the three of us, with no reservations, and were unable to get a table because the restaurant was full, even though they had just opened 30 minutes ago. The manager suggested that if we want a table, to go to their sister restaurant practically next door, but we decided to sit at the bar instead. This place was very busy, but it was amusing to watch, so we were very happy to sit at the bar. We ordered 4 tapas for 3 people, one of us wasn't hungry and just wanted a small taste of everything. The tapas came one at a time, they seem to make them in alternating batches, so when a particular tapas is ready, everyone who ordered that dish in the restaurant gets it. So don't expect for everyone to get their food at the same time. This turned out to be perfect for sharing, and my brother and I would simply share each dish as it would come out. The next one dish would come out shortly after we finished each dish. like clockwork. All the food was excellent, and completely exceeded our expectations. Plating was very intricate as well. The octopus was our favorite, which we were totally not expecting. Not chewy at all and reminded me of lobster. I can't speak for the drinks, but they gave us free shots of limoncello with our bill. Sensi was full when we walked in without booking but a waiter walked us down the street to their sister restaurant Sensi Mezzanine. Apparently the menu is a little different but with the same owner. The food was reasonably priced especially as it was absolutely delicious. Much care had been put into every tapas dish. The cold sea bass was amazing and zucchini and goats cheese. And my personal favourite (with my sweet tooth) was the homemade tiramisu! Also staff were fun and polite, even bringing and drinking with us a free shot of limoncello!
