I was trying to get an appointment to see if I have ADHD. Dr. Michelson was immediately condescending and put me in a room for 20 minutes. He had me perform one test alone followed by an about 30 question, questionnaire. I then went back to speak with him after taking the test just for him to explain my results and say "you don't have ADHD but you don't not have ADHD". He said I was somewhere in the middle, which was not a definitive answer. He then tried to immediately push some new medication on me and blamed a lot of my symptoms I've been experiencing for my entire life on a recent break up and death in my family. I truly felt like he viewed me as some college girl who just wanted meds. I just wanted a validating diagnoses as I have been struggling with many ADHD symptoms for as long as I can remember. As soon as I got out of there I broke down in my car crying because I was not listened to at all and he made me feel like I was stupid. I of course got a second opinion because his test was not thorough whatsoever. The second Psychiatry office I went to had a three step appointment process. One hour long general consultation, 3 hour in person testing, and then about 40 minutes minute results appointment about a week later, after it was fully analyzed. The three hour testing consisted of a similar test done by dr. Michelson, but also consisted of more tests with an administer in the room who gave puzzle, definition, pattern, and number tests. This was followed by a 300 question questionnaire. After this thorough testing, I was in fact diagnosed with ADHD. I didn't realize how unprofessional Dr. Michelson's practice was (the crying after the appointment should have been an immediate sign) until after I completed this testing at another office. I also learned that ADHD is extremely unreported in women and Dr. Michaelson continues to contribute to the problem. As a woman, I've been not listened to by countless doctors, and Dr. Michelson is now one to add to the list. If you're wondering if you should go to Dr. Michelson, I'd advise you to find someone more professional.

They're always efficient and extremely helpful. Some other reviews criticize Dr. Eldhamy for changing their medications when they become his patient and I must say that he IS a doctor who believes in using as few medications as possible, but he always knows what he is doing and if you just ask, he will give you his reasoning. He changed both my medications when I began seeing him and while I was skeptical, this new plan works much better for me. Through Dr. Eldhamy's practice, Laguna Behavioral, i was able to find a team of other doctors and specialist to fit all my needs- and they're all in one office. So greatful I found them!

No thanks- you clearly can't listen to me and I have no interest. I then called the receptionist to see if another therapist could be found and she said there is nobody else who accepts my insurance. Great, so much for your "team!" Don't waste your time!

I've been to highly regarded therapists who spread out meetings for months, consuming unnecessary time and investment. His superpower is that he epitomized complete altruism with laser sharp discernment and focused attention that facilitated deep healing of emotional wounds so buried I didn't even know they existed. He also leaves the door open for further growth and healing without feeling locked into a contractual relationship. Honestly he should patent his Method for all coaches to follow! I give him the highest possible rating and encourage others to not hesitate reaching out to him.

Cohen Philip MD - Treating your patients badly...

Fantastic Doctor…read more After going to many many doctors he was the one who has helped me. I was completely mistaken to think that his kindness was fake because he is so genuine. He will go above and beyond to assist his patients; if necessary, he will even provide you with his home phone number.

First visit: I left a 5 star review…read more Second visit: I am leaving a 1 star review. After my first visit, I filled the prescription Dr Cohen gave me, however he was going on vacation... so I called and spoke to the woman who answers the phone, and asked if he had someone covering for him. She said no, he would check in every 3 days or so... then told me "if worse comes to worse, and something happens, just go to the emergency room". That was enough to set me back to not take the medication until he returned and was available. I have reactions to medications no one else ever has. I am that one in a million they have to include on the paperwork. It sucks, but I am. I had my second appointment Tuesday with him, at 7 am. And so did 4 other people. ALL at 7am. How does that happen. One doctor, 4 appointments at 7am. Anyway, I told him I hadnt started taking the medication due to being afraid, and the comments his office admin made. He apologized for the comments, then told me he cant help me if Im not going to take the medication. He said I could have called his cell phone. Did he give me his cell phone number? No. Turns out its on his machine, which I will get to, but every time I had previously called, the woman answered - so I was not aware of that. Against my better judgement, I started taking the medication Wednesday morning. I had side effects that day, that got worse Thursday, and even worse Friday. I called and left a message on the office voicemail at 3pm on Friday. At this point, I had the cell phone number, for emergencies. I called the advice nurse for my doctors office to see if they could help me. All I wanted to know, was after three days of this medication, could I just stop taking it. I figure after three days Im not going to have withdrawal symptoms but I would have liked someone to confirm that. They were useless, as always and to get them off the phone, I said I would just go to the urgent care. Called Dr Cohens "emergency" cell phone number at 4:30 on Friday and left a voicemail there as well. It is now almost 10:30am on Saturday and I have not received a single call back. I decided to stop the medication, and if something happens I will go the the ER and let them help me. I will not return to Dr Cohen. It is clear he doesnt care about his patients, and I guess I should have listened to the other reviews. Also, I was never told what I owed on my first visit, so I didnt pay. I called, and the woman told me they usually bill, but its not monthly - its whenever... which is ridiculous. I believe I owed $40 per visit so I paid $80 on my second visit. Dr Cohen said he had no idea, and if it was wrong I would get a bill at some point. This is no way to run anything... and this is my very first experience with this type of doctor and I will not have another one... here, or anywhere. I am so extremely frustrated and all I wanted was one minute of his time to confirm I can stop taking this medication - as its usually one you have to be weaned off... after three days and I cant even get one minute of anyones time. Lets hope I dont suffer anymore by just stopping on my own.... this was exactly what I feared when starting the medication.
