This review is LONG overdue…read more I had an amazing first time with Miss Kelly mid 2024. Before Miss Kelly's Brazil Appeal Waxing, I had been to several other salons. I had been going to one of these salons for at least 3 years. Her suite is currently located in the plaza across H-Mart and 24 Hour Fitness off of Balboa Ave in a secured building on the second floor. Her suite is cozy for Miss Kelly, her client, and the equipment she needs. I highly recommend Ms. Kelly and her services - both to those who are sensitive to pain, and even the "veterans" who have learned to "tough it out." Before booking, please take the time to read her website. You will notice that her pricing is higher than the regular waxing/sugaring establishments. This is because she takes her time prepping you and doing the wax itself, which is also why your appointment will be longer (this varies, of course). This is why the pain level is much more tolerable, and makes the price worth it. It has been a while since my first appointment with Ms. Kelly, but I have returned several times since. I unfortunately had to pause my appointments with her, but await the day that I can resume my appointments. Ms. Kelly is a gem and I CANNOT recommend her enough!

I am currently 35 weeks pregnant, and this was handsdown the most comfortable experience I've ever had. The Atmosphere & Experience From the start, the booking process was incredibly easy. The studio itself is spotless and features such thoughtful, homey touches, I loved the philology-inspired decor! What really set it apart, though, was the heated mattress pad. It made it so easy to settle in and actually enjoy the session. Why It's Different If you have a low pain threshold or are nervous about feeling awkward, this is the place for you. Zero Awkwardness: She made me feel so empowered and comfortable in my own body. The Technique: She uses expert counter-pressure which makes the process almost painless. I've had many Brazilians before, but this technique is a total life-saver. Final Verdict Whether you are a veteran to waxing or someone who is super uncomfortable with the idea, I cannot recommend this place enough. It was professional, hygienic, and surprisingly soothing. I will definitely be coming back! Thank you Kelly!

I just had a consult with Chi about Genesis/IPL and lip filler and while she was helpful regarding the facial treatments, she was quite pushy with the lip filler, telling me that I'd want to get more than a syringe, and questioned why I didn't want to get lip flip/botox after saying no several times. She made me feel inadequate. She also said they wouldn't accept the Groupon deal though there is no restriction regarding 'new clients only' and it's against Groupon policy to refuse. My Genesis session experience with Cindy was amazing. She knows her stuff and she is really friendly. I appreciate that!

Making a reservation is really easy, and their studio is nice, clean, and quiet. The prices are very reasonable. They are all professional and polite. SD Nails is in the same lot as easy does it, Spicy Lao Kitchen, and Pho Duyen Mai, so parking is a bit fraught. Thankfully, I nabbed a spot and made it on time to my appointment. The nail salon is spacious and clean. I came in the early afternoon and there were very few customers at that time. They play music in the background and have TVs if you wish to watch something. I was given a binder with Diva brand gel nail polish and pursued through, looking for a red. Once I made my initial color decision, Christina got started with nail prep. She is very quick, careful, and precise with the filing and cuticle trim. She has such a light hand! I had no pain, redness, or swelling. She kept her work super neat and brushed nail dust off as she went. She listened carefully to what nail shape I wanted, and checked in with me to make sure I was happy with the shape before proceeding. When Christina applied the first layer of my chosen red to one of my nails, I immediately felt that it was too bright for my tastes. I felt bad speaking up, but Christina was very gracious about it and gave me more time to choose. When I was not happy with any of the reds in the Diva collection, she pulled out the swatches for another brand of gel polishes, and I found a red I was happy with there. I forget the brand but the code was 046. She applied it to another finger for me to see, and I was happy with this darker red. She cleaned off my first finger and started applying thin, neat layers to all of my fingers. I was really impressed by how clean her gel application was. I never felt the brush touch the surrounding skin, and she made sure to clean around and under the nail as she went. I also feel like the UV lamp was not too harsh. Sometimes, I feel a little sunburnt in the fingertips after getting my nails done, and even though I always apply sunscreen prior to a nail appointment, it is still not a pleasant feeling. The lamp here was definitely warm but not irritating. The time was also set appropriately and I never had to re-cure a layer. After the manicure itself, Christina did a super relaxing hand massage, not just half-hearted hand squeezing, and applied cuticle oil. The whole process took 50 minutes, cost ~$30, and I felt well-cared for the whole time. I have been to nail salons that leave me with streaky polish, messy skin, or nail dust under my nails. This is NOT that type of salon. I am super happy with the service and manicure I received here, and will definitely be back. I highly recommend Christina, she is excellent!

She did such a great job with my brazilian, everything was really neat, clean and sanitary. She uses hard wax which hurts sooo much less, I was pleasantly surprised. She talked to me the whole time she was waxing me. She is very attentive to detail, she made sure that there wasn't one hair left behind. It's great that she pays attention to detail and really makes a point of doing her job so well. I also got a facial from her and WOW!! She is awesome at what she does. She definetly knows her craft. I got a facial from Marina several times. She is really gifted. The spa section is located in the back of the salon, with it's own private reception area. The room I got the facial in was decorated nicely. Super relaxing music, nice paintings, dimmed lights, etc. Marina was dressed professionally and made me feel very welcome. I had a nice cold glass of water waiting for me when I walked in. Try the "Signature Facial" .. all of the masks smell natural & very healthy. .. Since i have acne, it is very difficult to find someone who can treat my face right. Marina knew exactly what to do, she even suggested some methods to try at home. BTW, the scalp massage was phenomenal!! I will definitely be coming to her for all of my future esthetician needs. read more

I have been coming to Marina for many years now. She is by far the best Esthetician I have been to. She is super friendly, always professional and knows her work. Her facials are super relaxing (you fall asleep most of the time), she does fantastic extractions and my skin just glows. She also does my brows and let me tell you, they are SUPER. She takes her time, my brows are never thin and always compliment my face. My skin is also never burned or broken out either after waxing. She uses great facial products and knows them inside out. Marina Aris is a wonderful esthetician. She does my facials and the experience is so gentle and relaxing! I was never the type to go in for facials and waxing and all that girly girl stuff- but she completely changed that. She doesn't just do the job, but she educates her client. Her work totally speaks for itself (I come out of her room GLOWING)- but if that's not convincing enough, ask her about anything and she just oozes with passion for what she does. It would be nice if the staff could give a heads up before starting, though I'm sure had I spoken up during the facial they likely could have adjusted their approach. I did notice one breakout after my facial, but it cleared up within a couple of days, so nothing to be too concerned about. Everything else about the experience was great!
