Recently took my energetic active 19 month old here and honestly did have a fun time. It was my first time going to a place like this so don't have really anything yet to compare it to. I like they had little cubbies to keep your shoes since it's understandable you can't wear shoes on the play area. The setup is cute, with two bit slides , a swing, a bunch of foam Matt's, a sensory board and a play kitchen, a climbing apparatus and that's pretty much it. I'm only knocking a point because I felt like the place itself a little on the smaller side. Staff was nice. I liked how I had to walk away for 2 seconds to grab a tissue and the girl stood with my son just to keep eyes on him. Price point I thought was reasonable and probably will be going back. read more

My four year went for a birthday party and had a great time! Super clean, lots of different activities, and the staff was very interactive. We've been to plenty of different indoor play spaces and children's social clubs but I consider this more of a child's gym. Great way to tire out your young one haha. I say this place is for five and under. Any child older might be a bit out of place or even bored. No food or drink allowed in play space and make sure to bring socks of course. Tight space coming in and very small cubbies/shoe rack. Open okay might be a bit more challenging than a private birthday party but I say give it a try! I came here with my daughter and her friends for a playdate on MLK day and it was a nice experience. It was crowded because it was one of the few places open on mondays around. The staff was nice and the place was so nice. There is no parking lot and they dont have a cafe like most play places. The place was $18 for open play for 1.5 hrs which I thought was good because most places are only for one hour. They made me fill out a waiver which I understood. I recommend to make your reservation online because it was way packed. I recommend this place if you live in the south shore area and want to bring your toddler to play! read more

It is very sad to me to have to write this post, but today I took my son to sensory beans in wantagh for open play. Due to hypotonia, my son wears ankle braces that require him to wear shoes for extra support. He has been to many open plays before, and I put his "indoor shoes" on. No open play place has ever challenged this. Immediately upon walking into sensory beans, my son was told he needed to take his shoes off- to which I explained to the staff that he needs his braces/shoes. The staff could not have been less supportive and rude, telling us we needed to leave, even as my child was crying on floor because he wanted to play, and escorted us out. The staff member could not have been less tolerant and rude to us. I am so ashamed of the way my son was discriminated against for his physical disability, especially as a place that prides itself as a "judgment free zone". read more

We will never return after the treatment we received. And, the toys ans equipment were obviously not cleaned from the previous day. I genuinely wish I did not have to write this review, because this place has such a great concept. I have visited Sensory Beans with my son on multiple occasions, however, recent interactions with the owner yesterday upset me so much that we will no longer be returning. I witnessed multiple moms being spoken to in a condescending, inappropriate way. There was absolutely zero need to treat another human being the way my friend was treated yesterday. It was quite frankly appalling, and it makes me incredibly upset that her *daughter* of all people had to witness this. In addition to the owner's attitude, Sensory Beans does not have ample space for guest belongings/check in/departure. As a result, while attending a St. Patrick's Day event, everyone was attempting to leave at the same time when the party ended. As a mother with a toddler, I chose to stand out of the way of the cubbies to feed my child a snack by the door, along with a few other moms and their kids. There was physically no room to get our things by the cubbies due to the poor design of the space, so in order to prevent our toddlers from heading back into the play area to run around and possibly prevent clean up for the next event, we chose snack time as a distraction. We were repeatedly (unkindly) asked to move and get our things, which was physically impossible due to the lack of space. In addition, I witnessed the owner scolding another mother of two while she was in the cubby area in the middle of strapping her daughter into her car seat. Yes, she was taking up space, but when you don't plan your business to have ample amount of space for your guests to arrive and depart, that is your own fault. This mother was not doing anything wrong, and handled the situation with so much grace. For a place designed for kids with special needs, I'm shocked at the owners apparent disregard and lack of planning for something as universally challenging as transition times. I'm also surprised that this space doesn't have any areas where children can escape from the excessive stimulation. They could have used some inspiration from the sensory gyms in Roslyn Public Schools. I'm sad that we will no longer be attending open play sessions here, as my son really did enjoy it. The staff, aside from the owner, was always great with the children and genuinely seemed to enjoy working with the kids. Perhaps the owner should take a cue from her younger staff, who seem to understand how to interact with the public much better than she does. As disappointing as this experience was, I am comforted by the fact that Long Island has so many indoor play places for this age group, with more on the way. Hopefully someone reading this review will take my experience into consideration when designing their own space, and learn from Sensory Beans' mistakes. read more

Great small space for children. A bit crowded (not even about covid). Just too tight in the front to easily come in and out with car seats or kids. They need to do something about that. Zero supervision what so ever, completely on the parent and kids. But with the crowding it's difficult. Luckily my 3 year old loved it. Will be trying another place next time. read more

So this post is about sensory beans in Wantagh. I have not been there in months and never actually encountered the owner but I noticed a few weeks ago that I was forbidden from reserving open play online. I thought maybe just a glitch or something so I let it go, went somewhere else. I went to reserve again another day and it still wasn't working. I wanted to go that morning and they were not open yet so I messaged on Facebook asking why can't I book and can we go to open play that morning? No answer. Ok... didn't go. Yesterday they posted an old photo of my son there on Instagram and I commented bc it was at night I said hey i have been trying to book online it's not allowing me, what's up? Well, the owner never replied but she did delete that photo and every single other photo of my son they ever posted. Now I'm really like what the heck is going on??? So I called today. The girl who answered asked for my last name, said owner unavailable and took my number for her to call me back. I said ok thank you bc I've been trying to book online it's not letting me and now for some reason all my sons pics are deleted, very weird. Well, never got a call back and now I noticed that she literally blocked me on Instagram!? I am beyond confused by this as literally nothing ever happened for me to be "banned" and blocked. I can only assume the owner of this company has some serious mental issues and does not in the least bit know how to be a business owner let alone of a childrens play space! I know there have been multiple reviews about this business and even on their Facebook reviews it says the owner is rude and disrespectful and doesn't know how to run a business so now I'm jumping on that bandwagon. So I brought my nephew to this establishment for the first time today since the weather wasn't great & wanted him to get out some energy. Let me start off by saying everyone working there is extremely young and not helpful at all. As a first time goer, I don't know the rules or how it works etc.. all I know is that it's an indoor play area. Supposedly, this place is supposed to be supervised by the employees there, but all three early teen girls were behind the desk chit chatting and on their phone. - since I wasn't aware they're supposed to be watching the kids/interacting, this wasn't an issue. When you walk in, just know it's very small. & I think the targeted audience is for very small children because there's not much my four year old nephew was able to enjoy besides the one bigger slide & the foam building blocks. - whatever, it was $17 for 1&1/2 hrs no big deal right? Okay fine. There was one other kid there, 2yo that my nephew wanted to play with, but the parents made me feel very uncomfortable as if they were annoyed he was trying to play with her. Taking her away from him, not really letting him play. Made me feel uncomfortable, but everyone is different so again, it's fine; brushed it off. They ended up leaving and it was just us. Having fun, running around, throwing the foam blocks at each other like a normal 4year old boy would- and one of the young employees walks over and tells him not to climb up the slide.. okay- I talk to him, explain why he shouldn't do that.. back to business. Literally 30 seconds later she tells me he needs to have his socks on or he can't be in there. AND BASICALLY STANDS OVER ME TO WATCH AND MAKE SURE HE PUTS THEM ON.! Not for nothing- but it's not my OR his fault that the other child spilt water. Maybe they should pay attention and clean it up. Anyway, as she's standing there, to make the situation not so weird, I asked what time they were open until (because she started cleaning up all the toys he was still playing with so I was like????) and her answer is "you only have until 330" (because I got there at 2 and I paid for an hour and a half) I said, I'm leaving before then, I meant in general. I've never felt so singled out and uncomfortable. Good concept for a play place for children, but it's run terribly & I will never be back. read more

The gym itself is great for children. The staff was beyondd unfriendly. My biggest issue was the waiver they have you fill out. I was completely taken back. I of course understand a waiver for the business to protect itself in case anyone feels exposed after a play session. But the questions were extremely personal. First question alone is are your completely vaccinated. I don't even think that is legal. Especially if you are still requiring masks anyway. Medical decisions are private. They are a personal decision and should have no baring on your business. read more

First time in this past weekend and its a rainy day outside, no parking lot available, so its all street level parking. Checking in during Covid makes for extra paperwork, but nothing unbearable really. Facility itself is clean, a bunch of obstacles and other items to play on or with. Pillow pit was fun, slides, swings, padded floors felt safe enough. There are lots of other children and parents. Their cap per session seems reasonable enough, if you know your child doesn't do well in that kind of environment be aware of that. You pretty much are going to need a large degree of helicopter parenting, because if you're not engaged things can happen to children on children sometimes odd things if left unsupervised. (Pay attention and put away your phone would be highly suggested.) Staff wise Annie was a very engaging member, kind of what you want from someone dealing with kids. She made the whole experience better for my kids for sure a stand out. So she deserves a lot of credit for making the session fun and being helpful. 5 star staffer. Didn't interact much with other staff who also didn't engage with anyone beyond check in and such. So I see from other reviews that could be a hit or miss. At the end of it all my kids had loads of fun and were safe by and large as long as the other parents paid attention to their children too. Kind of can't complain about the $17. read more

The gym is nice, but the staff is beyond rude. The area to leave shoes and belongings was small and the staff was rushing toddlers and infants out the door, when we could not even get to our belongings. The woman we believe to be the owner was incredibly rude to one friend in particular and went out of her way to give her a hard time. I've never been to such an unwelcoming place for children under 2. The staff ruins the experience and we will NOT be returning. read more

Brought my 1 and 2 year old here. It's a cute place and the kids had fun. It's nice to go on a rainy day...the girls were nice and the bathroom was decently clean. I do have a few complaints though. 1) the play area needed a serious deep clean, the padding on the toys and floors are so dingy and dirty looking and definitely a few things need to be replaced. The play kitchen was covered in dirt and dust especially inside the little oven part, soo many crumbs. 2) there was a little boy there visibly sick and coughing the whole time on all the toys and equipment. I think it should be policy that you cannot bring in sick kids who are coughing on everything (I do think this is more the fault of the parents but something should be sent to that parents saying If your kids have an active cough/illness they can either cancel or reschedule). Just hoping my kids don't catch whatever that kid had. There are so many indoor play places that take cleaning seriously so I won't be coming back to this one. read more

I walked in carrying my 20 month old daughter, 2 target bags her book bag and a gift bag for a friend in 20 degree weather. Only to be welcomed by the owner with a "you can't bring this all In here. You need to go back to your car and put it in there." Im so frazzled and taken back from hauling myself with my Toddler in the freezing cold there that the Person at the door would be so RUDE and accommodating to us. This is a sensory gym so I would think they'd be understanding to our needs. Before I could say one world the lady continues " this Isn't a party you can't bring favors. You can't bring this in here take it back to your car!". I am literally shocked because she's assuming what I have in my bags which caught me off guard.. and I did not have favors in my bags? They were items I wanted to give my two mom friends I needed to give them but have not seen them in a while and booked this play date to meet up and give them. I explained to the owner (the original person I spoken to) this and pointed to my friend who I needed to give it to. She then explained to my friend nicely oh you can put your bag on the side. I was then so confused because she told me I needed to put my things in my car but she quickly found a solution for my friend to not move her belongings that I gave her to the side but I still needed to go back to the car to put my bags away. I said can you please give me a second to decompress I have a child in my arms & hustled in the cold with all this stuff So it's a lot to process I'd need to go back out in the cold when the situation of putting bags on the side bent get out of shape. We then argued because she was being SO rude and inconsiderate and agreed to finally let me put my extra 2 bags on the side (which ended up having other peoples belongings there). I've never been so shook in my life entering a place so rude. After publicly embarrassing me, & letting me finally leave my things on the side I crouched down to take my daughters jacket off. Another family opened the door & the owner told me to move out of the way I'm blocking people from entering -so rude! We wouldn't have been blocked in if she wouldn't have just let us come in without attacking us. She asked me for the number under the register room I thought and I replied with my number & she barked "NAME!" Yelling at me. How rude, nasty and inconsiderate. When I finally entered and got my toddler in I was talking to my mom friend to try to explain how crazy this whole experience was until the owner (who followed me and ease dropped in on my conversation) & gave me a hard time..came over to threaten me to be kicked out if I continued my energy. SO RUDE. "If you keep talking about this and can't get over it then you need to leave!" IS THIS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM?!"How can a business who gears their business to kids with special needs & toddlers who need help self regulating be this rude & disrespectful to a parent and a child?! During the play session toddlers got tired and wanted to snack. The owner confined these poor babies to eating behind a tiny entrance gate on the floor sandwiched between the bathroom and entrance where if you opened the door your kid would be running out onto a main street. They did offer if we wanted to eat our munchkin there which was ridiculous?! When everyone was eating their munchkin in their back room but couldn't eat their snack there?! Bizarre. My toddler didn't complete the craft during the play as other toddlers didn't. The owner made it a point to not send us home with crafts (which we paid for in the class) and had a staff member ask around and provide the craft for other parents. I am thankful for the one staff member who didn't listen to her openly talk shit about me - provide an activity to go home with. I have never ever in my life been treated this way especially with a child. I will absolutely not be returning. I left there sobbing in my car because of how hurt I was being treated like dirt from the second I got in to the second I left. Be careful - the owner deletes reviews off their page! Then canceled a play date I had without informing me & emailed other parents about my review! Instead of calling me or contacting me to rectify her behavior. Insane! Stay away! read more

The staff is Amazing! Sensory Beans is a great place to take my children! Judgement free zone open to all abilities is an understatement! The gym is VERY clean and rotates equipment often enough to keep it fresh and new but not unfamiliar either. Too many people during a pandemic and almost all were unmasked (including staff). It was IMPOSSIBLE to social distance by any means. If you require masks, people will still come. If you do not require masks you will lose business from those who are concerned about covid. We will not be back. You cant run a business based on an honor system when unvaccinated kids are involved. We attended a Valentines Day party here which was very nice. So we tried an open play session on a Sunday. It costs 15 dollars for a two hour session. it is a lovely gym. This place is supposed to be for children with sensory issues and special needs. They allow up to 20 children to play, which means 20 plus parents, plus employees on the floor. For some children with special needs this is overwhelming, with a large amount of children running around as well as a lot of adults. It wasn't a calm play experience at all. The owners response was "Well, it's the weekend". I think a kind response from a good business could have been, well would you like to try again at a less crowded time on us?". But that was not an option. We won't be trying again. read more

At first I thought this place was so cute and perfect for my 1 year old to run around and get some energy out but then I noticed that EVERY TIME I brought him here 2 days later he was sick (runny nose , cough , slight fever) I have gone 6 times this summer and every time he gets a cold and I am not exaggerating. They do not clean the toys properly when they state they " close down for an hour in between each session to clean" . I highly suggest that they get rid of the kitchen area, every single baby puts those toys in their mouths and there is no way that they are cleaning every single piece when each session ends. If your child does not put things in their mouths then this place is ok for them but I don't recommend teething babies! If you have kids I'm wondering why your not already at Sensory Beans bc it is amazing! It is an all inclusive indoor sensory themed playground that is super clean, has volunteers to help you play, and it's gated in! All the equipment is supper clean and so much fun and works for children under a year and up! It is very reasonably priced and they have a little room in the back that you can eat your brown bag lunch or snack in. We decided to give sensory beans a try. Just for a change, we usually go to sippy cups down the road...which we totally love!! Unfortunately we weren't so impressed with sensory beans! They charge $15 per child (which is a lot) plus offer no sibling discount. So going with more than 1 child really adds up! Considering It's a very small play area. It's hard for them to run around & get their energy out, due to the way the place is set up. In fact After an hour my kids were pretty bored! There is no real designated place for the children to sit & have a snack or relax after playing. Not even a chair or sitting arrangement of any sort for parents to relax while the kids play. The only seating available is a hard ledge in front of a freezing cold window....not enjoyable! The young girls working there don't seem so enthusiastic to be there. They actually seem annoyed & barely interact much with the children. Long story short we won't be going back. read more

Great place for young kids - my two loved it. The only "complaints" I would have are there really isn't much room for adults to sit and watch the kids play unless they are in the play area especially if there is a stroller or two for babies. Second, while I totally understand the sock rule, other competitive places in the area like Little Gym don't allow socks for safety reasons so kids don't slip. It was just exhausting after awhile chasing a toddler who kept taking their socks off and my other who slipped a few times. read more

It's not really big but for babies i guess it's enough. She had a good time. It's probably better if she comes with other kids because she was the only one there and i was playing with her. Not much staff at least today. Only a girl at the front who was really sweet. And a young man was arriving when we were leaving At 4:30. I love that it's clean and spacious for little ones. I did call the day before over the phone because when i checked the schedule online feb was already gone and only March schedule was up (it was feb 28) and the girl on the phone gave me an attitude saying i needed to go online and check so i said well i did but ...then she said we'll do you have us on Facebook?! This place is wonderful for a wide range. They always have a helper or two. It's always clean. I do wish they had a bin to put toys that kids put in their mouths.
