From the first warm "hello" at check-in to the ease of our departure, the experience felt like staying with good friends--who just happen to run an RV resort. Management That's Present and Personable What stood out immediately? Access to management. Whether face-to-face or via email, they were available and responsive. Emails with event updates and maintenance schedules kept us in the loop, which we appreciated--especially when planning cookouts or karaoke nights! Better yet, the staff weren't just employees--they were also guests, which made the whole vibe feel more down-to-earth and welcoming. They knew the area well (BBQ lovers: Lockhart is just 20 minutes away), and they were always happy to share tips. Amenities: Thoughtfully Designed and Genuinely Fun The resort checks the boxes and then some. Full hookups, well-maintained restrooms with showers, a large pool and an even larger hot tub (we once fit 12 people with room to spare!), and a killer community space next to the pool that played host to potlucks and karaoke nights. There's a massive double fireplace in that communal space, ideal for gatherings when the temps drop. And behind the building? A bonfire area and smaller fire pits surrounded by comfy seating. Bonus: free firewood during our stay! The gym is small (fits two people max) but clean and efficient with a weight machine, treadmill, and bike. There's also a super-clean laundry room with big washers and dryers that made doing laundry less of a chore. Other nice touches: a covered stage (no live shows during our stay, but it's clearly ready for action), and a dog area that was tidy and respected by both staff and fellow guests. Only things we missed? An ice machine and propane refill station--but both were a short drive away. Grounds & Sites: Clean, Sleek, and Spacious This place is sharp. Roads and sites were freshly paved, level, and easy to navigate. The grounds were neatly mowed and edged, and each RV site was thoughtfully laid out with plenty of room to back in--or pull through if you preferred. Being a newer resort, there's not much shade yet. There are young trees that'll eventually grow up, but for now, bring your own coverage if you're sun-sensitive. One notable gripe (shared by multiple guests): the bright parking-lot-style lights scattered throughout the resort. While we get the need for security, they were way too intense. Our humble suggestion? Dimmers, warmer bulbs, or better yet--low ground lighting. Let guests light their own areas for comfort and better stargazing. Location: Central and Convenient Located right off Texas Highway 21, you're close to everything without feeling crowded. Traffic wasn't bad, though you might hear a few semis braking at the nearby stoplight--nothing major. In 20-25 minutes, you can reach Kyle, Lockhart, or San Marcos, and those drives are easy and scenic. Kyle has all the basics (Walmart, H-E-B, Lowe's, etc.). Lockhart is BBQ heaven, and San Marcos is packed with chill spots and river fun. That spring-fed river runs 72° year-round--perfect for floating or paddleboarding. If you're heading into Austin, budget 45+ minutes depending on I-35 traffic. A Place to Party or Chill--Your Pick The overall vibe of The Old El Camino? A sweet mix of family-friendly and fun-loving. Whether you want to keep it quiet, socialize, or sing your heart out, it works. We made new friends quickly--thanks to the welcoming staff and well-planned community events. As for pricing, it felt more than fair. There's a refundable deposit and electric usage on top, but even with our AC running constantly, the bill wasn't shocking. Final Thoughts: We'll Be Back We felt safe, seen, and satisfied. Cleanliness was top-notch, staff were friendly and invested, and the sense of community was refreshing. If you're passing through Central Texas--or just want to escape for a few days--The Old El Camino Motocourt RV Resort is well worth your time. The female owner of this park brought TWO men with her to corner myself and my family and demand…read morethat we leave because we called the cops on our neighbors for abusing their children. This is of course illegal, as they are demanding we vacate with less than a 24 hours notice. They said we need to be gone by today because WE are making the park less safe.... I can only assume now that this park is being used for trafficking of some sort. She had NO remorse for these children and has not even bothered to check on them. These grown men, one that I know as a maintenance man, spoke to me yesterday with his wife while I told them why the police were here. His wife was distraught and they claimed they wanted to do something to help these kids because they couldn't even imagine abusing their own children like that. The "something", was apparently kicking out the only people that have cared to notice these poor girls and do something. These girls are our neighbors, and they are going to have to watch us leave while a police and CPS investigation is ongoing. They claimed to review footage of the police being called so I'm sure they saw the girls being DRAGGED away back to their abusers after fighting against the officers for more than half an hour as a 10 and 9 year old. These are heartless, soulless monsters. Multiple of our neighbors were out last night asking what was happening and nearly ALL of them had noticed the abuse these girls were going through. All of the neighbors thanked us for doing something for these kids that THEY could not do. The female manager spoke to me while the police were here and seemed generally bothered and annoyed that this was happening. NONE of the adults at this park care about anything other than making sure they don't have to deal with any uncomfortable feelings. It's pathetically sick and inhumane. These are the type of people who prey on children and side with abusers. I can only imagine what they do to their own. It makes me sick. If you are a family, I urge you to not come here unless you want to fall victim to the witnessing of abuse that you can do nothing about.

I had looked all over town for a good climate controlled building and one that was close to us. When I walked in, I was greeted by David. Such a nice friendly guy! He told me all about the place. How clean it is and they check regularly and there are motion detectors in each unit. That way if someone goes in your unit without your permission it notifies you on your phone. That information and the location, which is closer to where we live is what made me pick this self storage place. We weren't quite ready to get a unit, but knowing the information David gave us it was the right choice. He gave our information to Christa and she called me on the phone and introduced herself. She was so pleasant and sweet. She told me she would keep our name and if a unit popped up that we were looking for she would notify us. So the next month we were in town, Christa had given us another call, so I stopped by yesterday and got to meet Christa. Such a sweet wonderful person. So pleasant and just a downright nice person. David showed me a couple of units and we decided on one and Christa helped me get all set up. This place is so clean and spotless! The inside and so clean too! I would totally recommend this place to anyone that needs a unit. Yes it might be a little more than most storage units, but when you see how clean it is and it has climate controlled units, and motion detectors you might change your mind and get one. Plus it is right by the HEB and plenty of places to eat.

It started with speaking with Steve (One of the owners) about four months ago, as I informed him that I was moving 300 miles to town suddenly and desperately needed a place to store all of my stuff. Steve promised to have a specific size reserved for me, and if they didn't have a unit available when I moved down, that he would let me use his personal garage. That wasn't necessary though, as Steve made sure there was a space available (With about six hours notice from me, once I finally discovered when I was moving), and handled all paperwork over the phone as I was in the middle of a five-hour drive, leaving a lock in the unit because he knew I'd be getting there late in the evening and didn't have a fitting lock. My storage unit was spotless, the entire storage complex was/is spotless, and he was completely understanding and provided incredible customer service when I needed emergency access to my unit at 5am the next week. I've spoken to Steve a couple of times since. He was kind enough to remind me of my due date after I missed payment two months later, and didn't charge me a late fee because they're good people. I just finished a phone call with Steve's son, Mike, who provided equally great customer service and was incredibly accommodating to my requests. I'm removing my things from their unit, only because I've found a place to live in Austin. I would gladly drive back to Buda to continue using their services, because of the amazing customer service I've received. There's no need to storage unit shop. Call them today. Calling and talking to any other company is a waste of time.
