Great little shop for buying a hanbok! It was the only one I found in Orange County where you could buy one (others only seem to rent). I had to get one last minute for a Lunar New Year event at my daughter's school and the woman who runs the store was so helpful! She only had a bigger size, but it worked out great! And she altered the bottom hem to fit better, on the same day! She is the sweetest person and a very talented tailor. She also gives you a nice box to safely store the outfit. Prices are reasonable and the quality of the fabric is so nice. Definitely recommend you get it from her, if you need one. She has many sizes in store and can order you an exact size (if you give her a couple of weeks). So happy my kid has a beautiful hanbok she can grow into and wear for a few years! read more

My first experience with this shop was for my son's 1st birthday. Traditionally, the baby wears a special garment called Dol Bok on his/her 1st birthday to mark a successful first year. The 1st birthday celebration is also a big deal. The grandma that runs the shop is knowledgeable and makes great recommendations if you aren't sure what you're supposed to be looking for. My son ended up with a very cute Dol Bok and now we have plenty of pictures to remember it all by. They also do rentals. I am a high school teacher and we're having an international celebration week where students and teachers are encouraged to dress in cultural attire. I, of course, came back to rent a Han Bok (Korean traditional wear) for myself. Within minutes, she pulled out a Han Bok for me to try that fit great and looked great. Don't go to this store without the person you're buying it for because they don't know their sizes. My mom came in here to get a hanbok for my daughter's dohl and found a hanbok that was perfect for the dohl but the older lady who was helping my mom said it was for a 3-year old. So my mom asked the lady to alter the sleeves on the top and the skirt to be shorter. She went back to the store another day to pick up the altered hanbok. Turns out the outfit was size 1 for a 1 year old...There was a "1" on the tag of the hanbok! How does a store who sells hanboks make that mistake? My daughter wears 18-month old clothing so this hanbok is TIGHT on my daughter. I had to unstitch the top so the sleeves aren't right below my daughters elbow. My mom went back another time to find a larger size but none of what they had on hand was what we were looking for. Business shouldn't be this difficult. I paid $130 for the dress, hat and little purse, forgot the Korean names but you get the idea. She altered the dress the same day, within 2 hours. This store is wonderful. I rented a Hanbok and bought one for my granddaughter. Even thought the owner speaks no English, she is customer service oriented and helped me find exactly what I needed. I cannot say enough about how lovely this experience was. She even put little "noodles" in the baby purse and said to me "many many many" which I interpreted as "wishing her a long life". My close friends from San Diego were looking to buy a Hanbok (traditional Korean dress) for their daughter's first birthday and asked if I could help them out. I know there's a handful of Hanbok stores in K-Town in LA but seeing how my friends would be driving up from San Diego, I wanted to make the trip as painless as possible. I looked through the Orange County Korean Business Directory and found a listing for a Hanbok store in Garden Grove. I called ahead to see if they were actually open because it was the only listing for Hanboks in Orange County and I didn't want the trip to be in vain. Luckily the store was open and the lady who answered it was very helpful and invited me to their store to check out their ready-made Dohl-Boks (Hanboks specifically made for a child's first birthday). The store is inconspicuous and easy to miss but we found it without too much trouble. When we entered, I noticed how cramped it was. There were fabrics and dresses everywhere and it was slightly chaotic. Hanboks are worn for all kinds of occasions but mostly for weddings and birthdays in the US. Most of the time you want to have them custom made but Dohl Boks usually come ready made because it's a specific kind of print and kids usually average the same size when they're one year old. There was quite a variety to choose from and my friends had a lot of fun trying on different outfits on their daughter. There was the traditional one with rainbow colored sleeves and others that came in more modern colors. The ladies were very helpful and assisted us with anything we needed. My friends ended up choosing the traditional Dohl Bok and we happily left after purchasing it. I believe the cost was close to $80 but I'm not sure if that's the norm for a Hanbok bought in the US so I can't say whether it was expensive or not. My friends' daughter looked absolutely adorable and the dress fit her very well. I'd recommend this place for children's Hanboks and I also recommend adults to check it out and see what other custom designed Hanboks they have to offer. read more

This was my first time in a hanbok store. I went with my mom and we were optimistic because of the huge "clearance" sign in the front. After entering, we realized the lady sitting there was not the owner, so we browsed for 10 minutes until she came back from the hair salon. No exaggeration, she is very casual. lol. I thought hanbok stores would be sort of like bridal salons, but with lots of korean instrumental music in the background... mmm no. The only background music was the small tv in the corner and I think she even burped as she showed us around her very small shop. I felt like she was trustworthy enough to give us a good enough deal. At very least, she didn't seem like she was overcharging us. Rentals are $100 for already rented, non-silk hanboks. $300 for brand new silk hanbok rental. Buying starts at around $450 for a non-silk. Rentals comes with everything, shoes, petticoat, purse. We didn't get our hanboks from here, my mom needs a pink/purple hanbok but she didn't like any of the designs. But quite honestly, there is a huge selection which is unbelievably contained in this tiny store. Oh, and it looked like there were ring bearer suits, flower girl dresses, and dol hanboks available, too. And also men's ... hanboks? Not sure what they're called. read more

The elderly women that owns the runs this place is just awesome. She knows this stuff and she does business like your mom & pop shop would. She altered my daughter's han-bok for her 1st birthday celebration and assured us it would be ready a certain day and it was. She even promised we can bring it back later to get the alterations undone so that she can grow into it as her alterations were sown in a manner where it can be undone. Definitely recommend this place. Sweet lady is a one woman shop so she doesn't always keep the door open nor pick up the phone. If she has to go to lunch or run an errand, the place is inaccessible. My husband, sister, brother-in-law and I went out in search of a Dol Hanbok (baby's first birthday traditional Korean Dress) for our daughter. Of course I had a particular one in mind that I found on the Little Seoul's website before our baby girl was born that was no longer available. I scoured the internet but couldn't find it in her size, so we determined to look in K-Town at all the fancy Hanbok shops. Since we were visiting my sister in San Diego, we thought we would check out the much closer Seoul Hanbok in Garden Grove first. Am I glad we did! It's a small shop and at first I feared we wouldn't find anything, let alone my dream dress for our daughter. I showed the owner the picture of the coveted dress, and she said they didn't have that exact dress, but she pulled some for us to look at. My husband grabbed one from the rack and the colors were close enough to what I wanted. The owner had us try it on out daughter and our jaws just dropped. She looked like a doll! It was even better than the dress I had been longing after for a year. The owner was soooo sweet and helpful! She altered our selection on the spot. Our daughter is 3/4 Caucasian and takes after her VERY tall daddy, so I worried the traditional Dol Hanbok would be too small. This dress will fit our daughter until she's 4 or 5 and was expertly altered so that we can let out the skirts and sleeves as she grows. The owner said she would do the work when she grows at no additional charge. The slippers and purse were included in the price, which was not bad! For all of it, it cost $130 and the owner even gave our daughter a crisp $1 bill to put in her purse for her "Happy Birthday". This was an incredibly positive experience for us and origionally we weren't even going to stop here on our way to L.A. I'm so glad we bought our princess' hanbok from such a sweet lady and we are so much happier with her dress than we would have been getting something online we couldn't tailor to our daughter's needs. I only know of two hanbok places in OC, and this one was closer to me, so I came here to buy my daughter's hanbok for a performance. Listen, the elderly woman who owns the place is nice enough, but she is elderly, and she is quite forgetful. She recommended I buy a larger size for my daughter and hem it down to get longer wear (makes sense), so I placed an order through her for pickup the following week. She said she would have the new dress (top and bottom) hemmed and ready. Well, when I went back to pick up the dress, lo and behold, it was not hemmed. She didn't even seem to know what I was talking about... She asked me to come back on a later date, but I reminded her that I need it the very next day and that I live 30 min away. She then said to come back an hour later so I waited at a nearby cafe. After the hour, I went back and came to realize that she hemmed the wrong top (!) but by then it was closing time. My daughter ended up having to wear the wrong size top for the performance the following day, and I had to drive back the week after to exchange it for the right size. Again, the elderly woman is nice enough, plus OC surprisingly doesn't have much options for hanbok, so don't necessarily avoid this place. She will give you the skinny on proper traditional garb and colors and if you deviate, she'll admonish you but won't stop you from doing what you want. It's a mess of a place.
