I often use Sephora for certain brand access. This particular Sephora has trouble hiring helpful staff. Consistently when I visit, staff simply do not want to help. When staff act this way consistently usually the root cause is leadership. Additionally, when you need to test product the lighting in the store is very poor making it challenging to see how the product looks on you. Couple that with many staff not motivated to help and you create a situation where customers either are not set up to purchase or end up purchasing poorly matched, causing a need for returns. Thus adding to the cycle of employee grievance. After my most recent similar experience I went immediately across town to Ulta, got friendly help, and a purchase that I needed. While I want to rate three stars because at least of the certain products I can only get at Sephora, I have easy access to. I feel inclined to rate lower for poor staff behavior, unwilling to help, poor lighting, and their wierd policy they won't match foundation without giving them your phone number. That violates data privacy to withhold services in exchange for private information. read more

I went in there for the 2nd time and all the amazing ladies that helped me were so amazing, sadly I only asked for Dalyla's name, but even after asking many questions they all came over helped me and even hyped me up as I wasn't feeling that confident with a makeup product I was wearing and they helped me and walked me through every question l had, and walked me through the steps, and I loved it, everyone was patient and always smiling. Terrible customer service. Came in from out of town and went in a couple of weeks ago to return lipstick that was the wrong shade. The cashier acted like the refund was being taken out of her paycheck. She rolled her eyes at me when I asked her to look up my account with my phone number since I didn't have the receipt. Cashier: rudely *smacks lip* points to the CC machine and says "nope you can put your number in there" (nope was for looking up my phone number) Then proceeds to slam down my return receipt and doesn't look at me. Terrible service. I've been shopping at this store for years. Went in there today and asked for a certain product. The sales person that helped me just pointed at the brand display. When I asked if she knew the brand and its products she said she did not. I asked if she could find someone that did. I ordered a lipstick online for my niece for Christmas. I only ordered online because they did not have it in the store. My niece received multiple lipsticks for Christmas so she asked me to return this one. I just tried to return it. I was told since it's over 30 days they can only give me store credit and only can be used in the Sephora store. Not online or any Kohl's store???? Even though I ordered it online. Love me some good makeup so Sephora takes care of all of that in a girl's life. I don't wear makeup everyday but I like having all the new best selling products which I do use eventually. This location in Bethany, Allen is very close by to me. However, I go there for the outstanding customer service. I've always been greeted with a smile and asked if I needed any help. Most recently went in to Sephora to find a new makeup foundation for myself. I explained to the makeup artist that I've been using studio fix by MAC for several yrs and wanted something medium coverage, less thicker and more breathable. I told her I was interested in trying Urban Decay's new foundation and Makeup Forever so she matched my skin for both and recommended to sample it on my skin first. I really liked the UD formula which I wore for my niece's bday today. Loved how light the foundation felt on my skin, provided good coverage and looked good in person/pictures. It's really difficult to match my skin tone so I'm glad she recommended the right color. I plan on going back today to purchase this UD product and getting my favorite Kat Von D ink eyeliner =) read more

I am not a rich lady. I am starting my review off with that. Also, I am make-up disabled. So what's a girl like me to do when she's getting married?? Make someone else do her make-up of course! I know how to do a few things with make-up and that's it! I buy the same make-up every time I run out unless someone tells me to buy something else and shows me it will work with my skin. A few things to know about me: I have very sensitive skin. I am super pale (usually the lightest shade offered in base, if they even offer one light enough). Again, I must reiterate, I am make-up disabled. I don't know all the fancy language!! Needless to say, I was freaking out. I called all of the make-up for wedding people in DFW and they were all outrageously expensive. I was trying to do this wedding on some kind of budget!! Finally, mom to the rescue. She goes in to Sephora and is talking to them about my wedding. They say "Why not have a make-up consultation here?". My mom is like "OKAY!". We came in for a consult about 3 weeks before my wedding and tried all kinds of things on my face (and bought all kinds of things that I liked) until we found a look I was really excited about. The day before the wedding we did another trial run, and then the morning of they did my make-up for real! You know what was so incredible about all of this?? It was FREE! They did all the consults and the make-up application for free. Sure, we bought some make-up, but I know we didn't buy $500 worth of make-up, which is what those crazy people I called wanted to charge me. They were so sweet and a total lifesaver and really made me look nice on my big day. For that FIVE STARS and some *hearts* (and horseshoes, clovers and blue moo-...) Okay, I'm off track now. This is the 3rd time I've been to this location. Just moved off Montgomery Blvd, but they are the rudiest people ever. You walk in nobody comes to great you or ask if they can help ypu. Cashier rude all 3 times. I had to find my own product. The print is very small hard to read. Standing there @ the register, sales person just standing there away from the register, finally after about 10 minutes she comes over to the 2nd register & says I can help you. I asked if she couls tell if the product was the same. She said yes it is, I said well how about you at least look at it 1st before I pay $55 for it. DONE! Won't be back maybe Amazon sells it! AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE - I really don't like handing out 1 star reviews, but the customer service I experienced at this Sephora this evening warrants somewhere between 0 and 1 star. I frequent Sephora's everywhere and what I love most is the warm, welcoming, enthusiastic customer service that I usually get at most locations. This location was way off tonight. First, I walked in and got no greeting or offer to help whatsoever. There was an employee hanging out around the front/door area looking as if she was "the greeter" however she looked at me and didn't say a word. However, she did greet and offer to help the customer that walked in about 2 minutes after me. This was the first sour note for me. Next, I found a product that I wanted to get a sample of. A few other employees walked past me at various times and made eye contact, however no one EVER offered to help me out......WTF?? So, I grabbed the product and looked for some help. Made eye contact with another employee, she looked at me and walked over to OFFER help to someone else in a very friendly manner. They declined her help, so I approached her and asked if she could make me a sample. Her reply was "Hold on, let me see if one of the other girls can do it.....huhhhh, well I'll go ahead and make it". She made the sample......and didn't even give me enough for one application (see my attached pic)!!! THEN asked me if I minded taking to the product back to where I got it from???? Again WTF??? Anyway, I found what I wanted to purchase and the guy that checked me out was wonderful. Unfortunately, this experience made me not want to ever visit this Sephora again. read more

Terrible customer service. I went to return a foundation that was recommended to me by one of their sales people. The foundation was so yellow and didn't match my skin tone at all. Unfortunately, I travel a lot for business, so I was unable to get to the store within the 60 days to return the product. I didn't expect to get my money back but I was hoping that they would give me at least a store credit so I wouldn't be out my $50. The store manager Cindy was so rude and wouldn't even budge. She was very flippant and did not seem to want to help at all. I will definitely be taking my money elsewhere as there are plenty of other businesses where I could spend my money. I was in today looking for my shade in the Lancôme foundation when your manager, Stacey, went above and beyond to NOT help me! The store was busy and I just wanted to get my foundation and go but she shamed me for opening the drawer. Her response to me not being able to find my shade "they've been reorganizing these and it's probably out". No offer to help, not offer to help me find another shade, NOTHING! Occasionally they have some good sales, especially online and they always have a small section of stuff on clearance towards the back left of the store. Hardly ever write review on retail shops but this location definitely warrants it. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Without a doubt. Every single person that is at the counter is so unfriendly. I've been here a total of.. 3 times? and I've absolutely loathed interacting with any of these women. Went recently for the VIB sale, zero help and just attitude all around. Came back to return items from said sale that I didn't really want and was met with, yup, you guessed it, attitude. I returned 3 items of the 4 that I purchased, and was asked rudely, "so you just want to return everything?!" No, why don't you look before you ask condescending questions. After my transaction there were no niceties exchanged. Not that I'm surprised since everyone here is rude as hell. I understand that retail can be quite miserable, especially around the holidays, but seriously, maybe you'd be met with less attitude when you give less attitude. I returned an item in this store during the month of October. I wasn't aware of their return policy. I returned the item on day 91 from the purchase date. So, anything after the 91st day is credited back in the form of a gift card. I didn't like that idea but I was fine with it. Policy is policy. I understood. Fast forward to the VIB Rouge sale. I'm on Sephora.com trying to use this gift card to checkout. Sephora.com is requesting a pin to be used in conjunction with this gift card. I searched this card. I did not see a pin. I searched the Internet for a picture of where this pin would be located on the card. I learned it should be located on the back of the card. This gift card Sephora gave me doesn't have a pin! So I call the gift card customer service. She advised me that the Sephora store gave me a gift card that can only be used in store. I can't use it online. Here are my thoughts on that. It's stupidity and an inconvenience. Firstly, the item I purchased was purchased on SEPHORA.COM, not in store! So, ding, ding, ding clue #1 about your customer, she shops online. Secondly, how many stores have gift cards that only work in their stores when they have an Ecommerce store? Thirdly, how many of their customers know they have gift cards that only work in the store? Fourthly, they should have advised me, wait...they should have ASKED me if I wanted a gift card that could only be used in store. I'm beyond angry about what Sephora has done. This isn't always the case...some Sephora locations are so busy and far too crowded (mostly mall locations), and staff all but ignore you. Because this is the free standing store, you get the natural light coming through so you get the perfect match if you are trying to get a color match Everyone here is so helpful and nice. Much much better than Stonebriar Sephora. All the recommendations they made for me are always on target for me. Once you come here, you won't shop at another Sephora. Earlier this year I called the rouge hotline to see the status of custom makeovers this year and was told that rouge members would be allowed to continue with their makeovers without paying the cost. In addition it is listed on the rouge benefits page listed below. I had gotten a custom makeover to attempt a look for a wedding I was attending and had chosen to buy a few products because then I would be able to use them to recreate the look. However, as they say progressed, I did not personally like the products more than some of the other ones I had at home and they did not hold as well at the rehearsal dinner as I would have liked. I came to return the products and when I did, one of the employees who was helping another make the return was rude and stated that rouge members weren't allowed to return things as it canceled out the buying $50 worth of product needed for the makeover. She said that I was taking advantage of the system. While I wouldn't have minded knowing the reasoning behind it, I felt it rude to say that to a customer in front of other customers checking out. I had even explained that I had gotten information from Sephora that this wasn't a problem, but she was still rude. I always tout Sephora over other beauty stores because of how kind and thoughtful the employees have been but this experience left a sour taste in my mouth. I am a student and don't make that much money, but I am well on my way to becoming a rouge member for the second time because I love the vibe of the place, but this is not the Sephora I love to go to. Let's just start by saying that my idea of makeup pre-Sephora consisted of tinted moisturizer, a nude eyeshadow and mascara. It took me all of 2.5 minutes to put it on, and most days I didn't care if I had dark shadows by 2pm. Whatevs. But then I had my makeup professionally done for my bridal shoot by a local salon. BAM! What was this that I've been missing all of these years? Knowing that I wouldn't be able to get a professional makeup artist from Dallas to travel to a remote lake house for our wedding, I resorted to learning how to do it myself. I popped into this Sephora hoping to pick up some nice makeup essentials. What I didn't know is that I would be bombarded by a fiery redhead who would forever change the way I think about makeup. She listened to how the salon guy had done it, I showed her a few pictures, and off she went to collect the right colors. Then she proceeded to put makeup on half of my face, showing me exactly what and how as she went along. After she finished, she handed her brush tool belt and supplies over to me so I could do the other half. Y'all, I was scared. However, she coached me right along and by the time I was done, it looked pretty damn good! Although I spent over $240 that day, I left confident that I knew how to do my OWN makeup for my wedding. And to me... it was totally worth it. The best part is - I'm STILL using the same techniques she taught me, just on a lighter scale. Though I like the Sephora at Northpark I think this one might be my favorite. Only downfall is that they don't have MAC who carries my favorite red lipstick but I am not too hung up on the brand in the end. If you are seeking out quality make-up that is better for your skin and that will last longer seek no further than here. The fact that they are not located inside a mall makes it 10,000 times easier to shop here. The perfume selection is my second favorite thing along with the samples and samples of product they carry near the registers. Due to the size, accessibility and friendly staff I would say this Sephora would be your best bet in the area. read more

This location is pretty large, and they were well-staffed (4-6 ladies on an evening). I dropped in quickly to return an item I had splurged on on a weeknight. I expected to be in and out considering the ease of my transaction. NOPE. I waited in line for a good 15 minutes as the 2 groups in front of me had complicated transactions. I'm not sure if Sephora was training, but the 5 ladies behind the counter didn't seem to be in any rush as I stood there sighing. I wouldn't come back to this specific location unless I had time to wait and shop in the entire shopping center. Time is money!!!! read more

Love Love Love Sephora and this is the biggest one I've been to. I recently moved to the area and saw this one was much closer than the one I used to go to in North Dallas. So I was super excited about going until I got there. Unfortunately the product information I received was incorrect (which I verified after I left) and the manner in which it was delivered was rude. She insisted I was wrong even though I did my research beforehand. One of the other ladies tried to help after the fact but I was so frustrated I just left. And I will never go back there for advice. I might go there if I need to stock back up on something I already use or am in a rush since it's so close and massive. So if you know what you want to get or aren't looking for good product info then shop your heart out! It's a makeup girls heaven!! However if you are a newbie or need some guidance on something new, take the drive to another location. You'll have better luck elsewhere. read more

Ahhh, Sephora. What a genius idea and to think it took me a couple of years to begin even frequenting this chain after they started popping up in every mall. The reason I love it is because the have almost all of my favorite brands of makeup and skin care in one place. No more making a trip to a department store where you get accosted by the "counter" women, and no more feeling like you are being a traitor to each brand when you need something from YSL and something from Laura Mercier too. I really can't stand the haughty/judgmental and sometimes disapproving looks I get from the women (and men) that work behind the makeup counters at Nordstrom and Neiman's. But no more! Sephora has gained the ability to sell most of the high end brands like Chanel, YSL, Laura Mercier to name a few - and they also have a nice collection of other brands like Makeup Forever, Tart and Urban Decay that I would never have found on my own otherwise. Plus, you aren't stuck with someone who only wants to sell you the brand behind the counter they are working - the Sephora staff are very knowledgeable on ALL the brands and will quickly and confidently lead you to the exact product you need. The fragrance selections are outstanding (Tocca!!!!!) And I am that annoying person taking 20 minutes to peruse the sample sizes in the bins at the checkout area. LOVE THAT PART. Did I mention they have makeup artists on staff as well? I frequent this one store in Allen the most, and the beautiful women (and men of course!) that work here are wonderful. You are greeted quickly and asked if you need help, and they always have great attitudes. I only give them 4 stars because I wish the could get a contract with Kiehl's... so for now I still have to suck it up and go to Neiman's for my eye cream (sad face). I have no problem admitting that I'm a makeup addict. I research 90% of the products I buy, before I buy them. ... and then I get to Sephora, get distracted by all the pretty packaging, and most of the stuff I went in there to buy I forget about because SHINY THINGS. (If you've never been to a Sephora, it's like a medium to high-end candy store for kids.) I love where the store is located. Lots of restaurants and other stores around. (I really need to explore this area.) I came in here one late afternoon/early evening. There was less than 5 customers total in the store(maybe only 1 or 2 actually), and about 7 employees. I was greeted promptly, asked if I had any questions, the usual stuff. I said "No thanks" and continued on my merry way. This is the one negative I have about this store: After about 30 minutes of walking around the store, my arms were already jam-packed with products. Like, to the point where I had to set stuff down to swatch and test other products I was eyeing. Several employees walked right by me and saw me during this time, but no one got me a bag or anything to put all my stuff in. Really? You see a customer struggling to keep things in her arms/hands, and don't help her out? Weak. As a former employee I know the standard they put on employees about their product knowledge and inventory of what is carried at Sephora. Came in to purchase a perfume and the sales person was assisting me with my questions. I asked if they they carried the 3.4 fl oz size and she said they don't carry it, even online. I went ahead with my purchase for the smaller size, then to find out they have it online. Now I have to run back to Sephora to return this and order it online. This is not the first time this specific Sephora has made an error like this. It's a waste of my time and paying higher prices for the experience of a more luxury beauty store. As a stand-alone and lower volume Sephora you would expect more attentive service as well. One time is a mistake but when this specific location has a this many chances of error it's deemed concerning of quality of customer service. read more
