I had a very disappointing experience at the Sephora location in Buford, GA (3333 Buford Dr). I came in with a friend to purchase makeup to donate to girls in the community who cannot afford products for prom. While on the floor, Nickky was amazing--very helpful and professional. However, at checkout, the card machine malfunctioned and showed my payment didn't go through. The cashier then loudly and sarcastically told me to "check my funds," which was completely inappropriate. Other employees laughed, which made the situation even more embarrassing. I spoke with the manager, Asia, and she showed no concern and walked away without addressing the issue. Because of how I was treated, I returned everything. After leaving, I checked my bank account and found I was charged twice--confirming the issue was the machine, not my card. As a healthcare professional, I value professionalism and respect. This experience was unacceptable, embarrassing, and disappointing--especially given I was shopping to give back to the community. I usually get pretty overwhelmed at Sephora and feel like a total imposter. I'm still pretty new/beginner level when it comes to makeup so I was completely lost. However, then comes my hero Dana. I had a bad experience last week when I came for my haircut. Another hairdresser whom I have trusted recommended I get this other hairdresser to cut my hair. She has been coloring and cutting my hair for years. I was a little surprised and very humiliated, The guy who cut my hair charged me double what he charged the first time he trimmed my hair. And to top it all off, he ruined my hair. It looks like someone put a bowl on top of my head and cut around it. I am not only upset about my hair, but very disappointed in my hairdresser whom I always trusted. My hair looks horrible and I hate how this hairdresser treated me while I was in his chair. I'm a make up lover and so far Sephora is my favorite place to buy make up. I also buy my perfumes, colognes and skin care products here. I usually get my stuff online cause I get free samples and gifts but whenever I need to try something on I go to this location because the ladies are so helpful. If you're doubtful, they give you a little sample of the product so you can try it on and decide if you wanna buy it or not. Their return policy is also very simple and easy. They would let you return an item even if it's opened or used. They've done my make up for a couple events and they did an amazing job every time. This Sephora at Mall of Georgia is down near where Von Maur and G by Guess is located. I'm not sure if it's smaller than the other locations such as Perimeter mall or Town Center but they definitely don't carry as much stuff or as many brands as the other locations. I like a couple of Sephora's house brand items and some of the store were out of the items so when I came to this location I found they had about half the size of display as the other stores. They were also out of 4 of the Bobbi Brown Color Corrector colors. They only had the dark colors available. Now this could be due to the holidays and or maybe they were out of it at their main warehouse. I'll give them that. What I didn't care for were the employees standing around talking among themselves while there were customers in the store. I find this kind of behavior unprofessional. I think this is the best place to grab make-up. Seriously. I am in love with this place, and I'm not a make-up fanatic. Don't get me wrong. I am a girl that uses make-up, but I wasn't into the super super good quality kind. Even my friends that are into make-up have said Sephora is the best place for a make-up run, and I'd agree. The associates here are friendly and knowledgable. They acknowledge your presence as you wander down the colorful aisles asking if you need assistance. Will I return? Yes! Price: B Sephora is more on the pricey side but the product selection is extension. Brands are middle of the road to high end make up brands. Me and my daughters went into Sephora, Mall of Georgia, yesterday and I wasn't impressed or pleased with the level of service that we received. I will keep my "emotions" out of it and simply state facts: (1) Upon entering, we were greeted by the rep and given the "now on sale" pitch and warned not to touch anything in the store. She said that if we needed assistance they would help us (she is telling us this as I'm picking up the lipstick sample) (2) I quickly returned the tube back to the display and as I was turning to walk away to catch up with my daughters another young lady immediately, asked "Is everything okay?" We were in the store all of 10 seconds literally and we already felt bombarded with unnecessary customer service (3) The first girl that greeted us literally followed us around the store as if she was shopping with us, like she was a part of the family. Everywhere we turned she was there..every move we made, she was there..no matter which section of the store we moved to, she was there. Customer service has now become overbearing and a bit harassing. (4) I was ready to go at this point, after only being in the store all of three minutes, but I put on a happy face and calmed my thoughts for the sake of my daughters trying the perfumes they wanted (which we never got by the way) (5) We finally moved over to the perfume wall and guess what....she was there. So we were compelled to ask her to grab a few samples from the shelf as we were instructed to do on the way in. I couldn't help but glance over at the two young ladies right beside us, freely grabbing things from the shelf, spraying, laughing, testing products, just having a good ole time while we stood there with the 'prison guard of Sephora perfumes' asking for permission for "everything". (6) My daughter wasn't allowed to "touch" anything, as the rep would spray samples onto the perfume strips and hand them to her, which wasn't a problem at all (very aware of Covid regulations/safety/guidelines etc..), but to see the freedom taking place right beside us was very unsettling and I was confused, so I asked the rep "So, we are allowed to touch the perfumes on the wall next to us where they are, but we just can't touch these in front of us, is this correct?" (7) She had a look of surprise, of course and answered, "Oh I was just assisting them and advised them to let me know if they needed help to come and ask, so they are fine" [If this is the case, why not give us the same mumbo jumbo excuse for an answer and leave us alone so we can shop in peace too, why are you on our heels with our every move] (8) I thought to myself, They are doing the exact thing that you warned us "not to do", and they're fine? Really? I guess she felt my frustration at this point and began asking our happy-go-lucky neighbors random questions only because I brought it up....."oh ladies, are you guys okay......do you need anything...yadda yadda' Again, they are still freely grabbing things from the shelf. (9) She mentioned something about sanitation and wiping things off, but at this point I'm totally annoyed with her, her customer service and poor level of professionalism and unfair treatment......very disappointed and ready to take my credit card to another store, period. My daughters felt the agitation as well but wished that I'd just "be quiet", but I really wanted to know why certain customers were given the freedom to walk and grab items throughout the store and shop comfortably while we had hound dog Heather breathing down our necks every move we made and not allowed to touch anything. So were do I start??? it definitely has to be with the exceptional customer service I received from Tamika today! I went in for all new makeup and was quickly greeted by Tamika. After finding out my daily makeup regime she picked out the perfect foundation for me! She worked with me to find the perfect eye palate that I was looking for, after helping with makeup she also was able to offer hair products and styling tools! Next step was check out and I was very pleased with the kindness of the staff there as well. So, here's the thing..... I like to keep beauty super stores close, especially LVMH owned Sephora stores, I want to know their exact location in proximity to wherever I am at all times. If I need a moisturizer, and lip balm, Johnathan Product Dirt Texturizing Paste, I want to be able to run in, stock up and leave. The GA Mall location isn't nearly as large as other Sephora stores I've been to. This location is well stocked, while you cant find all the brands Sephora carries they do boast a rather large selection of Stila, NARS, Laura Mericer and Urban Decay. They've got a reasonable skincare section, and a HUGE selection of brushes and applicators(which makes my heart swoon). My only gripes about this location is that its always hot, like Miami in the summer hot, humid, I feel like I'm melting when I take a stroll through the isles. And the staff isn't particularly helpful, but I'm a self service girl when it comes to my cosmetics, I don't usually need help picking up my Laura Mericer tinted moisturizer, I've got it covered. read more

I love me some Sephora! Given my longtime fandom of their online stores and retail outlets, it was the first place I thought of for wedding makeup. For budget's sake, I had decided to do my own makeup, but needed someone to show me the ropes since I'm not a natural born makeup artist. Even though I trust Sephora, I was a little nervous about having my makeup done. The one other time I've had makeup applied by a so-called professional was for a friend's wedding years ago. I still cringe when I look at those photos and resist the urge to yell, "You harlot!" at my overdone face. But my fear this time around was totally unfounded. Angie was awesome! She was a no-nonsense kind of gal that didn't make a bunch of fake conversation with me and my friend. She did my makeup and did it amazingly well, and she gave me great pointers along the way too. I was worried that there would be a ton of pressure to buy every product that she used, but she said, "Tell me what you want and I'll grab it for you." That's the kind of low-pressure sales I like. I only shop for makeup about twice a year, and I am not a pro at putting it on. For me, less is more with makeup. With that being said, Sephora is a great store where a girl (or guy, in some cases) can find all sorts of interesting products to doll themselves up. Although I'm loyal to M.A.C for my foundation/powder compact and Sephora doesn't sell their products, I like to stop in this location when I happen to be at the Mall of Georgia. Sometimes, it's simply to try on a new shade of lip gloss since they make it so easy for customers to try whatever they want (if they have a tester available!) with the one-time-use makeup applicators and makeup remover, cotton balls, etc. that are free and accessible. I'm a fan of this because I don't have to ask anyone for help. =) Recently, my siblings and I came by during the wee morning hours of Black Friday. I hadn't looked ahead to see what deals Sephora had for the special day, but I did end up buying something! I scored one of their $26 Instant Moisture Kits for a mere $10! The kit, valued at $34, included: * Supreme Cleansing Foam (1.69 fl. oz.) * Instant Depuffing Roll-on Gel (0.5 fl. oz.) * Instant Moisturizer (1 fl. oz.) So far, I've tried the Depuffing Roll-on Gel and the Moisturizer, and I like both! Since my genes have awarded me with constantly baggy, tired-looking under eyes, I don't really know how much the gel is helping to "depuff," but at least it feels refreshing. The moisturizer is good for me to use during the evening when I don't need SPF (like my regular moisturizer), and it's long-lasting moisture (up to 8 hours) is perfect for the cold and dry winter months. However, what I don't like so much about the moisturizer is the fact that the scent is strong. It's not a bad scent, but those who are sensitive to strong scents may not be fans. If you are a frequent shopper at Sephora, be sure to get the Beauty Insider card to earn rewards. Although I don't shop there very often, I have a card and received free gifts for my birthday (such as lip gloss one year and body wash another year) for the past few years. Also, if you lose your card, all you have to do is tell the associate that you need a new one, and they will look your information up and transfer your points to a brand new card. (Unfortunately, they don't make/give key tags anymore!) Overall, Sephora at the Mall of Georgia gets 4 stars because they have plenty of beauty products and keep their store well-organized. Stopped in to try two types of foundation. A woman asked if I needed help, so I told her the brands...and then she sort of smiled and said "Hm, don't know!" It took me a second to realize-- the woman didn't work for Sephora, but rather for Too Faced cosmetics, and didn't want to help me find other brands. Why is Sephora allowing brand reps onto the floor wearing the same uniform as their employees, much less allowing them to approach customers who are no where near their display? Anyhow, I finally found the foundations I wanted to try. The first was a no-go; at the second, an employee offered to help me apply it. While VERY nice, the employee who helped me was wearing incredibly thick, cakey foundation and dark black lipstick. That's totally cool for her, but I very specifically wanted an extremely light look (and told her). The woman applied the foundation and...oh, god. Not only was it OBVIOUSLY a shade too light, but she'd piled it on very very thick. It looked absolutely ridiculous-- yet the woman was so pleased with her work! I couldn't believe it. I don't really shop at Sephora and went in here for the first time in a while for my little sister. While roaming we were followed and constantly asked if we needed help by some older white lady who must of thought we were there to steal, we are all African American, once we actually needed her help she acted as if she was too busy and never even came back to check if we were assisted. Very rude. She wasn't the only older lady who kept coming around us like we have something to hide! HATE Sephora. This location especially never fails to disappoint me. They have the rudest staff working there. They never welcome you when you walk in the door or offer to help you. I love Sephora but I dislike the in-store experience. If you need full service in selecting items this IS 100% the store to visit. When you enter the store employees, while very polite, will be on you like mosquitoes and they will buzz around until you leave. If you're like me and you just want to browse around, check out the latest scents, lip colors and just see what's there this is NOT the place to go. I do realize that everyone likes a different shopping experience. I'm not high maintenance, I like to be in a low pressure environment when I'm not at work, in-store doesn't provide that. Compared to the other locations this is my favorite. Why the 3 star? Because when you have a return/exchange, they give an attitude. Also, the ladies that do the custom makeovers could do a better job! I rarely make returns compared to the insane amount of items i purchase and have bought from Sephora! I make VIB Rouge for the upcoming year usually a 2-3 months into the year so by March. That should give you an idea. And when i do return, i have my receipt, box etc and end up turning around and giving them back my money. It shouldn't even matter to whoever is taking my return because its not your business. Follow your store policy and take my return. Im not showing up with no box, no receipt, no proof of purchase etc(i'm sure they get this a lot). I get this attitude from one particular girl and even new people i've never seen before! Its retail...returns happen...its part of the business. Suck it up! I love the brand Alterna, specifically their Caviar line, and Sephora is one of the only places I can find it. What happened to Sephora and it's staff? Everyone here used to be so nice and helpful. I made a return of a foundation that didn't sit right on my face. I was questioned and interrogated as if it were unacceptable for me to make a return. Considering the amount of money some of your customers spend on products in your store and the customers that are there weekly or monthly to buy products to keep you all in business I'd expect Sephora to train their staff to be more professional, humble, empathetic, happy, friendly and kind. Be helpful, it's your job. You signed up for customer service retail. This is what it comes with....clients who ask questions, make returns due to unsatisfactory. Why the attitude? While knowing exactly what products I wanted to sample instead of purchasing to make a possible return (god forbid being interrogated again)....the associate that I asked to help me didn't crack a smile. I see a lot of bad reviews for this location. I went here last week for the first time and left blown away by how well the staff treated me. I had actually never shopped at Sephora. I usually go to Ulta, but needed a product while I was already at the mall, that I knew Sephora carried. First, I was trying to choose between two products and a guy that worked there approached me asking if I needed help. I told him I was interested in the two products that I had never tried, but wasn't sure what to get. He took his time to tell me about all the different products for each of the brands I was questioning and was extremely sincere while talking to me. He helped me pick out the perfect product that is my new favorite moisturizer. I then was approached again while looking a little lost trying to find something else I was interested in. I couldn't think of the brand's name but the lady named all of the brands off until she got the right one, then walked me over to the product. And lastly, the guy that rung me out was extremely welcoming and friendly. I wanted to sign up for their rewards program, and he was very helpful with letting me know about the perks and also the free makeup and facials they do for all customers. I went into this Sephora initially about a year ago. A friend and I went to get our makeup done and I ended up purchasing most of what they used. Today, I went back to restock my supply. The lady that I spoke with was SO RUDE. I walked in. Wasn't greeted by anyone. I walked over to the cover fx section which is what I wanted. Couldn't find anyone in that area. A lady walked right by me and didn't take a second look. She walked back by and I greeted her and mentioned that I needed some foundation. She said ok I'll be right back. She wakes back and said: You want color fx? I said yes I think so but I couldn't remember my color. She said ok. She put a couple different colored tiny dots on my HAND (because your hand is always the same color as your face)... I said ok. I THINK the top one was my color but I'm not sure. She didn't say anything. I asked if I could try it on. She said ok and went to put more on my HAND. I said ok... can I have something to remove the makeup I have on my face now? She turned around and walked off and brought back some sort of pack of what I assumed were make up removing wipes. She then proceeded to tell me that she was OUT OF MAKEUP REMOVER. wow. Really? What the heck did I just wipe on my face then?! So she brought me a tiny sponge to apply it and set it on the counter in front of me. I started applying it. She didn't ask or offer any primer or ask if I was looking for anything additional or different. She seemed like she was in a hurry. I asked what time the mall closes. She said nine. I said ok thought so. Do you know what time it is? She shrugged and said I don't know. Then she walked off. After applying the foundation on about half my face and seeing her standing in the next isle with her back to me I walked over and handed her the sponge and just said I might be back later. WHAT AMAZING SERVICE!!! Wow! Being fairly new (and late) to the makeup game I figured I would venture to Sephora to find out my color IQ. I took my sister along with me and I had my 5 year old in tow. When we arrived at the store they were jam packed! There were people everywhere, some looked just as lost as me, some were zipping around the store on missions and some were teens that looked like they were just lounging around the mall. Despite the busy and chaotic atmosphere we were still met with a warm, friendly smile (I believe her name was Chi Chi) and asked what we needed assistance with. My sister and I explained we were in for a color IQ and whatever makeup tips we could get! We were told that although the rep was busy she would assist us as soon as possible but be free to look around the store! She even acknowledged my son which was very comforting for me. Some places are not kid friendly at all and you get side eyes and death glares when you bring a child into the establishment and this was not the case at all! My sister and I roamed the store and every corner we went around we were met with a smile and asked if we needed any assistance. Chi Chi found us (I have no idea how in the cluster of people that were in the store) and sent us to the representative for our color IQs. We were also emailed our IQs as well if we wanted to do research on our own which was very convenient! We were walked through the different types of foundation and coverages and dealt with individually even though the store was packed. My son was very intrigued with the device for color IQs (looks like a forehead/ear thermometer and your IQ is somehow taken from different zones ranging from your neck, cheek and fore head) and was kind enough to IQ him and include him as well! Such a sweet touch to a busy mom with a tired (and curious) 5 year old. Armed with color IQs and much better idea about the type of foundation and coverage we wanted, my sister and I ventured over to the Sephora line where we were met by the fabulous and amazing Ni Ni who completed our amazing Sephora experience!! She educated us on the importance of primers and moisturizers and went even further with helping us pick our foundations that fit our skin type. We went in for just foundation and walked out with primers, face masks, and foundation. Not only because the associates are amazing at cross selling (as they should be) but they were kind and we didn't feel like just a dollar sign to them. Today, December 22, 2018 I went to the mall with one of my closest friends. The customer service i experienced was worse than walking into a republican confrence and being the only democrat. The fact that we were just teenagers and just swatching makeup and being constantly followed and watched made me feel uncomfortable. Its funny how i treated the staff politely and was still treated this way made me furious. I've gone to this location multiple times and was treated by the staff i always see with the best service without being followed around. The staff was constantly talking into there walkie talkies and looking at us staright in the eye. The worst part is they weren't even discreet about it; they were atleast a foot away from us. Maybe this location should keep in consideration that instead of welcoming customers and making them feel comfortable they are driving them away. I was actually trying out skincare and concealers and was followed to the door while with my friend by 5 employees. We were also looked at while we were walking away from the store. If this is what they think is common courtesy i would highly perfer walking to the other makeup locations in the mall than this one. read more
