I have said it before and I will say it again, Sephora in Merrick park is the best spot for quick and affordable glam. You can book a service online and get a full face of makeup done for $60. I've gone multiple times and have always had a great experience. Most recently I booked with Gaby and she made my birthday glam vision a reality. What I love is that you don't need to buy any products, but if you love something it's a great way to find a new favorite beauty must-have. I left last week with a new Charlotte Tilburry lipstick and lip liner. Service is always really friendly here, and while the store is usually busy it isn't chaotic like some other locations. Had the BEST experience yesterday! Usually I try to avoid in-store Sephora shopping because of the crowds & never ending lines. That all changed while I was waiting to exchange a product when all of a sudden, a lovely girl named Carolina appeared out of nowhere, asking if she could help. "I'm not sure... just need to exchange this." "Oh I can help you right over here! Let's just grab the product you need!" She helped me select the correct color, walked me over to the side & pulled out a handy-dandy handheld machine & in 2 minutes flat, my exchange was complete & I was out the door! I had a gift card for Sephora since forever so I thought it was good to use it in the area before going to the Ritz Carlton coconut grove. I was able to park in the parking building right by Sephora. It's located central where the parking says Neumann Marcus. I paid $3 for parking that's why I took a star off. I don't like when you have to pay for parking at a mall. The experience at Sephora was good. I was asked preferences. It was ok although it was a little weird to see so much make up on my face. The store is beautiful and large. Today when checking out for the items I purchased for the holidays the cashier by the name NAYY started to bash me very loud after I asked her "Do you guys accept American Express?" She proceeded to answer with sarcasm and she asked very loud for everyone to hear "Are we in United States of America?" "Do we accept American Express?". I was completely horrified by the unexpected behavior of this individual. I'm not sure what happened but her intentions were to embarrass me in front of everyone. She also added "I'm sorry but I'm not the machine to tell you if we accept American Express". The whole thing took me by surprise and I was in disbelief. When completing the transaction I asked her if I could borrow her pen and I proceeded to write her name down to report the incident to the corporate office in San Francisco. When exiting the store I asked to speak with the store manager and shared with her the embarrassing experience at this store location. STORE #944. I had a gift certificate for a perfume and they didn't have the product I wanted in stock, they tired to send me to another locations, the closest one was like 10 miles away. I asked if I could just use the $65 credit towards another perfume and pay the difference. The manager and cashier weren't able to figure out how to do that in the system. Be careful buying gift cards from the Sephora Coral Gables store. Or perhaps from all Sephora stores as well. Many many people have gotten zero balance in unused gift cards. Sephora takes your money, then pretend to "open investigation", string you along for weeks just to later say they can't help you because the small print on the card says "no refunds if cards are used". They say the gift card you bought at the store has been used online. They wash their hands and stick you with the problem. It's plain and simple Sephora theft of your money. I really don't know why I go to this Sephora! I walk in to buy a lipstick and the line is extremely long so I left. As I was leaving, a woman was following me on the way out as if I was stealing something. This is one of the smaller Sephora store, if you prefer more variety I suggest you hit Sephora in Dadeland or Aventura. However, this store is super convenient if you're in Merrick Park shopping already. This location is fairly new so everything looks bright and clean! However, sadly to say, the associates are friendly but not helpful. At other Sephora stores I have at least 2 associates asking me if I need assistance. Here, they ring you up with a smile and let you wonder aimlessly through the store. I want to start by saying that I do not intend to be rude or mean or put anyone down by this review, but my experience at this Sephora wasn't a pleasant one. I went yesterday to get my makeup done and I had a young man (dont remember his name) and I believe he simply did not know what he was doing. I dont know if it was his first time or what but i basically had to come home and redo my makeup for the event I was going to. I have done my makeup here before and I always love it so i was in shock when this happened. When you go get your makeup done professionally you expect your makeup to look nicer than if you did it and I felt like I could have done way better. The young man even asked me to apply my own eyeliner and mascara. And the mascara I had to remind him that none had been applied. I simply think he needs a lot more practice before Sephora uses him on other people because what he did to my face was unacceptable. This location recently opened 2 days ago in Merrick Park across from the Athleta store on the second floor (it took over the Bebe clothing store spot on the corner). Compared to other Sephora locations it's rather small with more of a focus on makeup and other skin productions than perfumes (the perfume section is in the back). However, on the upside they have plenty of sales associates to assist you if needed. I appreciate that they carry a wide variety of travel size products and although the store is small, they managed to distribute the products throughout the space in a way that makes for an enjoyable and comfortable shopping experience. As I read these reviews, I am glad to see I am not the only person who has had a bad experience when they visit this Gables Sephora. I am a Sephora Rogue member and can vouch for the other reviewers, the employees that work there are BEYOND rude, unprofessional and they truly believe that they own Sephora or something. I still can't understand, it's actually quite funny, and sad at the same time. I went in a few months back and this woman by the name of Maria color matched me soo off it's hilarious. Wow! Then the last time I was in I had this tiny little woman with her nasty attitude, snapping her fingers at me as I waited in line to checkout and pay, they were in a rush because as she put it, it was Friday, she just got paid and wanted to get the F out of there!! I've never fawned over Sephora as many of my other friends have. I feel like I had really never had a great experience before I tend to walk in no one helps me and then I get annoyed. I decided to give it another shot today (I had a long list of products that needed replenishing/new products I wanted to try). I walked in and was not greeted by anyone I started to attempt to tackle my list on my own and of course it was overwhelming with all the products available. I saw on my two sales associates chatting it up by the cash register (sounded like they were having a grand ole time). One of them walked over towards me asking if I needed help. I asked her a few questions and she was pretty rude so I stopped asking and just kept browsing... And that's when I saw Yulia! She was not among the rude chatty sales associates, she was working quietly minding her own business. She looked approachable (and her makeup was flawless, so I imagined she must know what she was doing) so I went up to her for help. She quickly gave me suggestions and since I had such a long list she asked if I wanted to sit down and try on specific things. She was very knowledgeable and patient (thank you btw) with my zillions of questions! She gave me suggestions as to which brands to use based on my skin type and also what tools to use. She also showed me exactly how to use the products I was interested in. She really did an absolutely amazing job and I seriously thank her. I'm so happy with all the products I was able to find and love! If every sales associate was as attentive as Yulia Sephora would be a better place. This was the great experience I had been missing out on at Sephora all along. This one star is for this specific Sephora store, not for Sephora as a company. I went there to switch from a powder to a liquid foundation. Simple enough, but I'm inexperienced with makeup and was relying on the knowledge and expertise of the Sephora employees. The girl that helped me was so clueless, literally asking me if I like this color, or that color. I kept saying I just want it to match my skin tone... I want the liquid equivalent to the 06 warm porcelain shade from the powder, whatever that may be... cant you just color match? She would say "oooh... what about this one?" When I tried to respectfully back out of her help, she then pointed at some bottles and said "my sister in law loved this one!" Like... great, this is all incredibly useless. After everything, she wound up telling me she strongly believes the N20 Best Skin Ever would be my shade. She put some on me, and my insecure ass is feeling insecure about it, but she insisted it was a match. She's the professional on this, right? So I believed her. I bought it online because I couldn't get it that particular day. It makes me look like I have liver cirrhosis. So my husband went back to the store to exchange it for me because we have a baby and it's hard to get out of the house. I sent him with a picture of my warm porcelain shade so that somebody who is actually competent can match it in the liquid. My husband came home with something twice as expensive. You know when women get ripped off by mechanics because they take advantage of their inexperience? Yea, that is absolutely what happened here. Apparently they couldn't find a matching shade in Best Skin Ever. Are you kidding me? Out of all those shades? My skin color isn't unique. Give me a freaking break. Needless to say, I will be going back to return this overpriced paint, and the brush I bought to use for it and going back to my powder. I don't know how this Sephora location has only 3stars. The service I receive when I go in is 5 star for sure. The attendants are so friendly and totally unobtrusive. When I go to the Sephora in Dadeland it's like they bombard you with questions. You can tell that they are wanting you to mention their name so they can get some sort of commission I guess. Being in hospitality i totally get that you have to try and make a sale, but not at the expense of making a customer feel pressured or overwhelmed. That is NOT the case at all at this Sephora. Every time I have gone, someone does approach me but after I browse around a little. They don't single you down and stalk you like a hawk stalking it's prey lol I especially love how okay they are when you ask for a fragrance sample. I have gone in a few times and asked for a cologne sample and they always freely and willingly give me one which I very much appreciate. I recommend this location over the one in Dadeland. It gets so loud in there and too crowded. It totally affects my shopping experience. If I could give 0 star I would today Saturday 18/21 I purchased online at Sephora to pick up in curb pick up, so when I was arriving at this location around 7:45pm I called the store and I asked one of the employee (just to make sure if I was in the right pick up spot as there's no sign saying curb side pick up) so I can pick up the item. The employee asked me where I was and I told her I'm right next to Nordstrom I asked if the garage that was across the street is the one for curb side pick up and she didn't even know, so she told me to go a little bit further right after Nordstrom and to wait. Anyways I couldn't stay there because there were no parking. I had to go around and park in a garage were I thought is the one for curb side pickups. I explained the manager were I was and that I even passed by the same area that this employee had told me to wait close to Nordstrom but she didn't even let me talk, that's how agitated she was. Typically the employees are talking amongst themselves huddled in a corner. I'm a huge believer in when something is wrong, you say something to hopefully correct it for the future and if something is right, you say something to confirm the business is on the right track and deserves business. If you look below, you'll see my terrible experience at this store exactly one year ago. Well, by chance, I had items to return after Irma from Sephora that I hadn't had a chance to until 2 weeks later. I was having a full day of errands, not the greatest day either and I had some time to kill in the area. I figured my day was already bad so if I wasn't treated well, whatever, but at least I'd be productive in returning my products. I am SO happy I did. Again, because of Irma, my house/all things were a mess, I had no idea where the receipts were and it was no problem. They just looked up my VIB Rouge account and it was all solved. Since that went well, I decided to buy the foundation I had in mind. Thavea (spelling?) helped me out, steered me away from the shade I thought was mine, tried out the ID thing, wasn't happy with that shade for me either, and went through 3 before he was satisfied. I had such a great experience, I decided to say something and Thavea pointed me towards Leeana (spelling again! sorry?) the manager, and she actually remembered the incident from last year, was super professional in accepting accountability with grace and we were able to discuss it in a complete mature manner. She then insisted I stay for a skin cleaning and make-over. Alexandra did my make up and I have never looked better. I have been terrified of eye shadow because any time I wore it I looked ridiculous but she totally picked out my right color and I looked (modesty out the window here) so pretty! She signed my mum and I up for some classes which I really look forward to taking. Honestly, it's so nice to know this is truly how the store is run and the rest was a one time bad day. The holy grail of holy grails....I love smelling Sephora as I'm nearing the entrance. This Sephora opened up September 2015 and its taken away 80% of my paycheck ever since. Dadelands is closer to me but this Sephora seems to have better selection, a younger and trendier staff and nicer by far. Ive had my makeup done here multiple times and always leave looking flawless. Its smaller than Dadeland too but again I still prefer Merrick Park location + staff. read more
