This is by far the worst Sephora location I have ever been to. Every time I go there I see most of the associates chatting/standing/wandering around while avoiding eye contact. This is super frustrating when I need help finding some stuff and get dirty looks when I interrupt their conversations. Yesterday, I took a friend who never wore make up to get her a much needed lipstick. I approached a woman who looked like the manager, and asked for help to find the best color for my friend. The manager picked out one color, my friend didn't like it. Immediately the manager threw an attitude and said "well what do you really want lady, help me out here." My friend got really upset with her attitude and didn't want to try it anymore. The manager cleaned the lipstick anyway and stuck it into my friend's hand, said "try it I'm busy." then walked away to chat with other associates. I have no idea how this person became the manager, but I'm not surprised that under her supervision most of the associates in the store act the same way. read more

This Sephora location is a hit or miss. Sometimes the service is okay and sometimes you walk out without ever being asked if you needed any help. I love the Sephora in NYC across the street from Union Square. Excellent customer service and great make up tips!! read more

Wow. Hands down the worst Sephora I've ever been too. Sadly it's the closest one to me. Their make up artists are always in such a rush. I have had two bad experiences with two separate artists over the past year whose names shall remain nameless. They both rushed me when trying to figure out what corrector and concealer I wanted. In fact the second artist didn't even finish applying the concealer under my second eye. Literally spent 3 mins with me. He couldn't have been bothered. I don't care how busy it is. You should take the time to help your clients. Every client regardless of beauty insider status should be treated well. But being a VIB Rouge I spend a lot of money at Sephora and I was planning on buying more stuff that night. I ended up only buying one thing because I was so turned off by this store. Thank you Sephora website for being such an amazing alternative to get my makeup and skin care products. I have been to plenty of other Sephoras where I have been met with such wonderful experiences by other artists. The artists from this Sephora could learn a thing or two from any of these Sephoras. I do want to take the time out to salute Tameeka. She doesn't even work for Sephora. She works for clarisonic and was in the skin care area. She was such a HUGE help!! She answered all of my questions, gave me good suggestions, tested out products on me and gave me a full size sample of something to try. She went above and beyond. I've figured out why I have managed to dodge this place for soooo long... IT'S EXPENSIVE!!!!! I spent $79 on a primer and powder fondation! SERIOUSLY!!!! Ridiculous to say the least. Nonetheless, the customer service is awesome but the women applying the makeup are terrible...somebody pleas get these girls some lessons. I'm a frequent Sephora shopper, especially at this location and while the people have always been helpful when I've asked questions/had been approached, I do not always feel comfortable asking all of the questions on my mind. However today, I went to the store around noon and walked out feeling confident in my purchases. The help I received was the best yet! Every time I walked to a new corner of the store, there was an associate eager to help me. The particular associate that I made note of was Keith, the skin care specialist. He was FABULOUS. I've never been so informed about skin care and what my particular skin needs to stay healthy. It is because of him that I filled out the online Sephora survey they print on the receipts and this review so that I can praise his amazing service. He took one look at my skin and knew what may help. I am definitely looking forward to trying these products and I highly recommend that anyone in need of a skin care related product should find him and make use of his knowledge and willingness to help! read more

Absolutely HATE this Sephora. They are always rude and act like they can't be bothered to help you. I get that they get a lot of traffic flow but I don't think this excuses there behavior. I went in today looking for concealor. I wanted makeup forever but wasn't sure of my shade so I asked one of the sales associates for help. She showed me two shades that were not matching at all and I told her they don't match my skin tone maybe this brand doesn't have a match. I asked her if she had any suggestions for a different brand she told me nars and proceeded to show me which color and said I was a certain color shuffled through the ones available and walked away. I'm guessing they were out of my color but she just left. Didn't say a word like oh we are out of your shade. I know I'll never get any help at this location. read more

Went in to replenish a mascara. As I Am never sure if customers have opened live product (I'm always conscious as makeup can contaminate different bacteria), I was checking to see if a product was used. An associate came up to me and told me I can't opened it. When I explained my reasoning why, I followed up by asking if she could get me a new product in the drawer for me to purchase (as customers wouldn't have the option to test this). She would not do this. Instead, she "assured" me she had just restocked today. Being that there was dust on the box tops, not sure how true this is. Going to make my purchase at Ulta, where I can receive 20% off. Willing to forgo my $20 off $50 at Sephora to have better customer service at Ulta. read more

I was here this afternoon (it's Sunday). For a few weeks now I have been dying to get to a Sephora to pick up some black liquid eyeliner-- either the Kat Von D'sTattoo Liner or the liquid liner pen by Stila. These are two of Sephora's best-selling eyeliners. The Stila was out of stock, and the Kat Von D eyeliner was only in stock in purple, grey and brown... I was disappointed. The worst part, though, was that the makeup both the Stila and KVD sections were just thrown into random slots and most of the items were in already-opened and damaged packaging. I went to other sections of the store and noticed the same thing, though... I was too grossed out to try out any of the testers. read more

I used to shop here a long time ago but mostly buy on the website. The customer service isn't so great. I went back yesterday because sometimes it's helpful to look at products in person. The store was fairly busy but the 20 minutes i was looking for something no one asked if i needed assistance and there were plenty of associates but they seemed to be catering to this one customer. If I could give no stars I would. I have never stepped foot into such an unhelpful and ignorant setting before. Previous times I have walked in and knew what I was getting so I didn't need any assistance, but never received a hello at the door or friendly assistance at the register. Yesterday my experience was the one that set me off to write a review. Not one worker acknowledged myself or anyone walking in before or after me. Two girls working were so busy in their conversation at the mirror that they didn't even stop to acknowledge anyone. As I made my way through the store scoping out make-up lines and ended up back by skin care (still no acknowledgment) I finally see one worker stop looking at herself in the mirror and then look at me and not say a word. Then walks by me and says nothing. Now I am fully frustrated because I did want help and had a handful of questions on some new things to try and didn't want to waste my money buying random things. (If any of the expressions on their faces were even friendly I would have approached them myself) After a few minutes of checking some stuff out I decided to leave and as I made my way out of that area the girl who did stare at me finally asks if she could help me. I said nope and continued walking out. Due to the lack of ignorance, customer service and unwelcoming atmosphere I will never shop in that location again. I was planning to spend a good amount of money on products and they have lost my business. That is a prime example of poor customer service. read more

I love Sephora. It really is my #1 beauty supply store. I can't even bring myself to go to Ulta because of all the perks I get from shopping at Sephora. They carry a variety of brands that they can't even hold them all in the store, but you can find online. They just added a new tier to the Beauty Insider Program. It used to be just Beauty Insider and VIB (Very Important Beauty Insider). They added VIB Rouge and that's if you spend over $1000 a year. As a current VIB member, I receive a gift card and percentages off of products which I love. I've only had 2 negative experiences that I have written to corporate about in regards to this location. Every other time, I have only positive things to say. The CMA employees are experienced and know what they're talking about. read more

For my first experience shopping at this sephora location it went great! One there were enough workers to help and if they saw you come in they noticed you and greeted you. This store is bigger than Bridge water one...carries wide variety ...but customer service sucks !! if you have question about a product or need any recommendations or about store offers and discounts you are at the wrong place...........the girls and aunties who work in the store need serious training about their products and how to apply them...unfortunately i live close to this mall so i have been going to this store since 3yrs and this what i feel every time i go there. I enjoy going to this Sephora because they carry more luxury brands, like Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier and Hourglass. Unfortunately, there are way too many pushy salespeople at this location. From the moment you walk through the doors, they are on you like a swarm of hungry alley cats. In fact, on my last visit to this Sephora i was asked if I needed help by the same sales woman at least four times. The visit before that, I was accosted by at least five aggressive salespeople. It was so bad I almost walked out. I ended up just grabbing a few items, jumping on the cue, and rushing out of there in a huff, annoyed at the staff for their constant hovering. The whole reason Sephora is so successful is because of its hands off approach to its mostly female clientele. If I wanted twenty sales women to ask if I needed help or if I wanted a free makeover I would go to the beauty counters at Nordstrom or Macy's! Come on! I've been a devoted Sephora customer for many years but this particular location is a nightmare. They need to either cut back the staff or keep them in the back room reordering product, since they always seem to be out of anything remotely popular. Stay far away from this one... read more

Products are always excellent and top of the line. However, their customer service team could be good or bad on some days. There are workers who are polite and want to help you and there are workers who don't want to be there and give bad vibes. Overall, their products and store aesthetic is fair for its pricing, but they just need to work on training their team. read more

While I will say my last 2 experiences at this location have been better than the past, it's really hit or miss, so I can only really bump this up from 1 star to 2. The first time I ever visited this location was 2 years ago with my best friend who has her knuckles tattooed. We asked a woman who appeared to be a manager for assistance on finding a good product to cover the tattoos for an event & her response was "Well, you should've thought a little more before you got those done". As a person who worked in retail management for years, I was shocked that these words came out of her mouth & thought that being judgemental is such a great way to make a sale. After this experience, I was really turned off from this location, but being the only Sephora in my area at the time & desperate for some high-quality beauty products for a dance recital, I decided to give it another chance. My shopping experience was great until checkout. A friendly guy was checking me out when my card declined. I checked my bank account to make sure nothing was wrong, and I had more than enough money in my account for the transaction. He called someone over for assistance to make sure their register wasn't the problem & it just happened to be the woman my friend & I had the shopping experience with before. After about 30 sec. at the register, she loudly said "It's not us, so that means you don't have the money for it". I explained to her that I had already checked my bank account & that there should be no problem. She rolled her eyes at me & told me to call my bank again to see what the problem was. It turned out that my bank was switching over from Visa debit cards to Mastercard debit cards, & I didn't get the new card in the mail yet. Because they no longer serviced Visa-type cards, mine was no longer valid, which is why it declined. I explained this to them, & the guy was understanding & let me know that they always have the product I was going to purchase in stock, so not to worry. The woman on the other hand ripped the bottle out the bag very angrily with an attitude & yelled at the guy & said "AND THAT'S WHY WE DON'T PUT THINGS IN BAGS UNTIL THEY'RE PAID FOR". With the way she was acting, it felt like she was intentionally trying to embarass me in front of other customers, along with the associate checking me out. I'm a VIB member well on the way to Rouge status & that's certainly not the right way to get repeat business. & not only is disprespecting an associate totally unprofessional and uncalled for, but it can cause other customers in line reason to speculate that he is not capable of doing is job properly, which was not the case at all. When the Quakerbridge location opened up, I began making an hour trek there when I could to avoid the Menlo location; the service there is incredible, the store is well-maintained, & they have a great selection of products to chose from. When the JC Penny's Sephora in Woodbridge opened up, I began going there as well. A few months ago, I was looking for a product that I wanted ASAP & it was only available at the Menlo Park Sephora, so I decided to give the store another chance. I was surprised to discover how helpful the staff was, providing me with suggestions & giving me tips for using the product I purchased. I had a change of heart and decided to return a few weeks later, & this time the service was total overkill. I was with a friend & I was swarmed with associates. I encountered 2 friendly people who seemed to have good intentions, but other than that I almost walked out. Right after one person approached us, another person standing a few feet away would immediately come up to us & ask us if we needed help. If you heard us tell the last person we didn't need help, why would you ask us? At one point a woman came up to us & said "You guys have been here for almost 20 minutes & still haven't bought anything. I really think you guys need my help". It was incredibly rude & not the way to get a customer to want to talk to you. At that point, I was turned off again about this location, but when the top off my setting spray came loose, causing it to leak all over my makeup bag the night before a dance competion, I came back in desperation. I ended up having the best experience I've ever had there. I noticed there was a new setting spray out from my favorite brand & when a male associate came over & asked me if I needed help, I asked him if knew anything about it. He was super-friendly & called over someone who was more familiar with the product-line. She was also very friendly & I was impressed that the guy stuck around to hear what she had to say about it, so he could learn from her. We all ended up talking for quite a few minutes & they were so fabulous & pleasant. After this experience, I decided to keep returning. My recent experiences have been average, & I can deal with that since it's convenient. I just wish there was consistency with their service. read more

Comparing my recent shopping experience to others at same Menlo store. One sales rep meh - other great. Took me time to find an available associate and it was 4:00 on a weekday. Found that about 8 of the 15 things I wanted to look at had empty try-me samples and meh associate asked us to open them (her nails were too long). Also found stock in several key shades/brands empty, It should be a little bit easier to spend $300 on make-up! read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER !! I walked into the store, it was almost empty besides the annoying typical Jersey Sales Girls, that think they are something special when in reality they are JUST selling crappy cosmetics, and not doing a good job at it either. I was in the store for probably half an hour. NO ONE asked if i need assistance, they were too busy talking amongst each other and judging customers. I walked around the stores, and i came back to look at holiday gift items again. I picked up a few things, and i began to open the box to see the product inside. AT that moment I GOT YELLED AT, (by sales girl) that i should not open the product. I snapped right back at her telling her that i am buying these items (was rude to her just as she was to me) at this time she just pointed with her finger to where i can see or test the product, she was too fat and too lazy to move her ass, I guess. I was also treated in the same rude manner at the register by a different girl. When i asked for a gift receipt for each item , she said it can't be done. Which seemed to be NO PROBLEM at another location. Will not be returning to that location. read more

What rude staff members! I was walking around swatching some products and my 5 year old was with me. She also swatched a couple of testers on her hand which to my knowledge, there is nothing wrong with. She walked up to one of the salesmen and gave him a sweet smile. In return he gives her the fakest smile turns to his colleague with wide eyes and they proceeds to start whispering about my daughter! I cut them off and asked them to help me find something which they seemed annoyed about. I saw the whole thing with my own eyes. She led me to the product, doesn't ask me if I need help with a color match (not that I would accept their help- they are terrible at it always directing me to the wrong shade). At the register, rather than greet me, the cashier was too busy complaining about a customer who had returned a product to his colleague, barely acknowledging me. How unprofessional is it to be rudely talking about a customer while ringing up another customer's order?! Get it together, Sephora Menlo Park! Your staff is super rude and they suck! read more

Horrible Sephora location. I come to this mall all the time , but never walked in to Sephora here. I needed to get a creme from Dior so I decided to walk in, I went to the back where skin care was, and saw three employees standing there chatting (2 females , 1 male) I went up to them and said "excuse me sorry for interrupting , I have a question about the creme, can someone help me please ?" They all looked at each other and no one seemed like they wanted to walk over , so I'm standing there waiting, and finally the gentleman comes over and asks what I need, I tell him I had gotten a sample previously for the Dior totale capture creme but they had three different types I wasn't sure which one it was. I asked him the difference between the identical bottles labeled differently though. He paused and read the bottles and then told me "umm let me get my coworker she knows skincare better" so he goes and grabs the lady he was talking with (one of the two females) so I'm thinking in my head "really?!? She couldn't have just came over first?" So that's that, she come over, has an attitude like I made her walk all the 4 feet to me and interrupted her much important conversation she was having with her coworkers, and stares at the bottle asks me "what did you need?" I again explained the situation, and she says "this one is the lighter one, and this one is for dryer skin, and if you have really dry skin you can use this one"- points to the blue bottle, that clearly has the word "NUIT" marked on it and even I know it means night... So I said to her"oh but that's a night creme though" she said "no that's not for night, you can use it anytime, it doesn't say anywhere that it's for night " so I point to her and I said "it says NUIT , which means night in French" she picks up the bottle and reads the back and says "oh yea, so it's either this one or this one (pointing to the original two bottles we were talking about) after a moment of awkwardness I said "ok thanks" and walked out. I ended up getting exactly what I wanted on the other end of the mall at Nordstrom. You figured their specialty is makeup and skincare, they will be ready to service you for those needs, but if not only do they have no basically knowledge of the products they are selling, they are impatient and don't want to work, why not get another job elsewhere? I work in sales and retail as well, I understand some customers are ridiculous sometimes, and that is why I try to be as polite as possible when I shop because I know struggles, but doesn't mean you need to be rude. I won't recommend this Sephora location, I won't be coming back. read more

I used to love Sephora, but the managers here are SO RUDE. (I went on 3 separate occasions and interacted with 2 different managers). I don't know their names, and I don't mean this in a disrespectful way... I am just trying to describe them so that other people could be warned not to go to them for help...they were both chubby. One was Caucasian and one was African-American. Incredibly rude women. I am a very smart person, and the Caucasian spoke to me as if I were stupid. She was very, very rude. The African-American one just did not want to help me. I understand it is the holiday season, but please, have some better customer service. If you're going to be rude, call out of work and have someone else work for you... Or don't work there. When you agree to work in retail, you know you're signing up to work for the holiday season, so be prepared for that and have some customer service. Unbelievable. read more
