Recently had a makeover done here for a photo shoot I was in. I was running late and called to give them a heads up and was told I couldn't be more than 10 minutes late or they'd cancel the appointment. I was already stressed beforehand so I rushed to get there and made it just in time. It's typically a 15 minute grace period but during the holidays it's only 10 minutes - just a fair warning. Once I sat down, Letty and her manager (I forgot her name but she is so amazing! She's helped me with other issues in the past as well and I appreciate all of her patience as professionalism) got right to work. Lefty listened to what look I was going for and went to grab the supplies while her manager prepped and primed my face. She took her time doing my makeup so that she could get it as perfect as possible (thankfully she's a perfectionist like myself) and made sure to get my opinion every step along the way. She did a fantastic job and even took me out of my comfort zone a bit! I wore fake lashes for the first time ever because she recommended that they'd look better for my photo shoot and she was definitely right. I also love the fact that not only was she patient with me, she was also understanding of my situation. I came in very flustered and stressed and wasn't the nicest when I first sat down but both Letty and her manager were able to get me calm and relaxed in a short amount of time. I really appreciated that. ***Came back to get a different foundation due to the one Letty had used making me look orange. Estella took the time to test multiple foundations and concealers on me so we could find a better match. She also gave me samples of everything that I tried that I liked so that I could try them out before purchasing again and wasting time returning if it didn't work out. I regret to purchase an expensive Hermes perfume from Sephora. it is stop to spray and can barely come out as drops. when I asked Sephora to solve my problem in anyway, they just said it's more than 60 days that you purchasend and we can not do anything. I've been here at least once a year for the past few years. They've always been informative and helpful each time. Well recently I've had a huge skin issue so I chose to use this Sephora and the knowledgeable staff there again. I've been in about 3 times in the last week and a half working with the staff trying to figure out where my skin care is going wrong and what foundation might offer me the best coverage. I attempted to go last Saturday and I ended up having a small panic attack due to being so overwhelmed with how packed it was. It was really hard to find help in the sections I needed. So by the time anyone was available to help me they were flustered because they were busy and I was so red they couldn't match me (not their fault by any means they can't help that they were busy) I walked out with a sample that I knew wouldn't match once I calmed down and I'm glad the woman that helped me pushed me to try the sample first. I went in again yesterday morning with my best friend and it was a much better and calmer environment. I was color matched in a few different brands, and Jasmine in the skincare section was AMAZING. She recommended an exfoliator and moisturizer that has helped my skin immensely! I'll be back to visit her for sure to purchase full sizes! It's a typical Sephora store, wtih lots of great beauty products. On my most recent visit, I discovered that they had recently rearranged the store, so I had to search for my favorite brands. There were several friendly employees there to offer help, so getting what I needed wasn't a problem. They don't seem to has as many products as they do online, but there is still plenty, plenty, plenty. Some of the brands you will find are Yves St. Laurent, Bare Escentuals, Smashbox, Urban Decay, Benefit, Lancome, Laura Mercier, Tarino Tarintino, NARS, Korres, Clinique, Philosophy, the Sephora brand and others. Many of the products have samples you can try. If it's something I haven't used before, I also consult sephora.com and read the reviews before purchasing. The staff are always super helpful and nice and definitely informative. Most recently I had Perk facial with Rosie. She was so kind and really guided me on which products would allow my skin to get better. She educated me on the power of serums and called me out on not exfoliating enough. Been to this Sephora many times, each time they have been helpful. I have been purchasing my makeup from here for quite some time now. Today, when I went to check out a tinted moisturizer, I was helped by one of the staff, and she was very nice. However, when she was trying the moisturizer on me, she used NAIL POLISH REMOVER to wipe off my makeup. I don't think she realized it till after we both smelled the heavy chemical scent. She had already smeared it all over my cheek and started putting the moisturizer on when I realized that it wasn't make up remover that she had wiped on my face. No apologies from her and my face stung for quite some time afterwards. I understand it was probably just an honest mistake, but PLEASE check what you are wiping on customers faces next time. I usually don't like to take surveys and leave reviews when I shop because I am so busy or distracted. However, this time I actually wanted to take the time to thank and recognize a sales associate named Johnson. He has such great taste in perfumes and products. I've been wearing Versace yellow diamond for over 10 years and he helped me found a better scent that I fell in love with, it is called flora emerald gardenia by Gucci. It was also easy to spark a conversation with him and see how he interacts with other customers. I was in there this last Saturday and I looked for someone that could assist me in matching me with a good foundation. I'm a mom that has little time for make up in the mornings. I have to get it done and go. One of the associates put me with a young teenage boy that was inexperienced. He tried to match my coloring and said of one foundation;" this one will just take a minute to oxidize and it will change color a bit. NO! I'm looking for something that works not decides what it wants to do a few minutes later. Know your product and which one works for age and skin type. Sales associate need to be paired with someone that knows the business and product. I understand if you need experience we have all been there. But to flat out not know your product is not an excuse when you work in a make -up store surrounded by product. This was one of my first experiences with Sephora and I think my last. read more

I really like that I can make an appointment to get my makeup done online. Unlike Ulta & MAC. I also like that they use a "device" to see what best fits your skin. Emerald asked me what occasion was I getting my makeup done for. I showed her a pic of my dress & we came up w/a look. She was very knowledgeable about the products she used. I also like that I received an email w/the list of products that were used. Instead of paying a set price for the makeover, you just have to spend $50. I have never been treated so horribly in a store in my life. I also have never had an employee alert and confirm my horrible treatment. My friend and I were continuously harassed from the moment we entered the store to the moment we left. One lady was very friendly and helpful, the rest were completely disrespectful. If they weren't standing over me, they were staring. If I caught them staring they would roll their eyes or turn around. One young lady had the nerve to rub shoulders with me twice. Only saying excuse me when I asked if there was a problem. When multiple employees ask you the same question over and over and immediately start speaking in their mic, you know something is up (familiar with retail policies). Went over to perfume and this employee comes over and says "I'm sick of this. Let me get y'all a basket so they can stop harassing yall." WTH?! She came back over with a basket and apologized. I confirmed that I had heard her correctly. Also confirmed that I wasn't delusional about how I was treated. I didn't know carrying a lip liner and a sample foundation required a basket. As a Rouge member, I doubt I need to steal one three dollar eye liner. Instead of gossiping and treating two customers like thieves, offer a basket if it's that serious. I love Sephora, I love the products they offer but I will never return to this location. I know I am just one person but seriously considering never buying a product from Sephora again. read more

This is a standard Sephora store, which I do shop at for some products. But I've just got to say that "I've experienced better" in locally owned businesses--the problem is that those businesses are not here in Houston. Ugh. They have a number of lines that I really like, Laura Mercier, Phyto hair products, and Sephora branded nail polish made by OPI. GoSmile teeth whitening, which is the best non-commercial system I've found. But ultimately I think Sephora fails to wow me because it is indeed a chain and the orders come down from corporate. Take Phyto for example. Phytodefrissant, Phytolisse, and Phytocurl are a triumverate that make a curlygirl's hair work for her. I have to mail order Phytocurl because it's only available at locally owned spas in New Orleans. And Sephora recently decided not to stock the full-sized Phytodefrissant because, as the staffer told me "We are cutting back on our SKU's" SKUze me? People, we live in the Gulf Coast. Houston, TX. Broiling summers and mild winters, all-humidity, all-the-time. There are different needs than for folks in Phoenix. Get with the program. Tell corporate to get bent and stock up on anti-frizz stuff. I came into this store today looking for a specific kit and before I could even ask a Sales Associate for help I had not one but two come up to me asking first! One was a gentleman and another a lady and both of them knew exactly where the kit was and even gave me recommendations on some other products I should try. They were extremely helpful and friendly. So...why docked the two stars? The cashier was not as friendly to me as she was to the customer before me. Perhaps it was because the customer was older and I look like I'm in high school? Not sure. But the cashier offered that customer samples while completely ignoring me and didn't even bother to ask how my experience was. Sephora pretty much has all of your makeup/beauty needs covered especially if you don't stick to one brand for all your needs (and I don't). So instead of going to MAC for eye shadow and then Bare Escentuals for my foundation and Macy's for perfume, I can just go here. Of course, I know Macy's and other dept stores have all of this as well, but that can still be a hassle as you have to get a person from that specific brand to help you. Here one person can help you with everything. The only disappointment was their perfume selection this time. This almost always happens when I visit this Sephora location. And as Kristina O says in her review, their aisles are super narrow. I was one of the idiots who waited in line last Thanksgiving evening to score the $10 doorbusters and all those women jam-packed into that tiny store definitely had to be a fire hazard. I frequent Sephora for particular hair products. For a while, I was going to Ulta because they are less expensive, and I find the staff at the First Colony Mall to be gratingly condescending. Ullta does not carry the special hair powder I prefer though, so I decided to check out the Sephora at Memorial City Mall. The good news is that that location has expanded, and it carries just about every beauty product you can think of. They also have large mirrors where you can experiment with the products. I walked out of there with more than I had initially intended to buy. I bought eye-liner, perfume, face mask, and dry hair conditioner. I am happy with my purchases. They even gave me a sample of lipsticks as a birthday gift. The only downside is that the expansion means so many people are patronizing the shop that the staff really can't get to people to answer questions, etc. Still, the person who rang me up was efficient and affable--demonstrating far better people skills than what I experience at First Colony Mall. read more

I came in looking like a scrub, was browsing , looking around and greeted by three or four associates in each section so I didn't really have a problem with the customer service. I knew what I was looking for and didn't really need help. Despite everyone was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgable! I must have looked lost more than I was "stealing" but I was literally in the store for 2 hours trying to decide what to get. Two associates tried to smooze me up complimenting my skin and what not. Needless to say I'm a sucker for compliments and that almost worked. Let's just say I had to put a lot of stuff back :( read more
