I was extremely hesitant to go to this location for two reasons: the rating on yelp and some reviews I read, I could relate to...and also I had visited this store before and wasn't impressed to say the least. This time it was completely different.. beyond great customer service/friendliness/ recommendations.. I was blessed to have Michelle come up and ask if I needed assistance. She was everything I could have hoped for when I'm trying to find the right product for my skin tone/type. Her recommendations were spot on! She happily gave me a few samples of different foundations so I could try before I buy.. along with her kind and sweet nature, she made my experience there enjoyable and stress free! I stopped into Sephora on Black Friday (I know... chaos!), but I'm so glad I did because I met Allie. Even with the store being packed, she took her time with me like it was a calm Tuesday morning. I told her I was looking for a new foundation, and she walked me through several options without rushing or overwhelming me. She swatched three different shades directly on my skin, explained the differences, and made sure I actually liked how each one felt not just how it looked. The shade that ended up being perfect for me happened to be out of stock, so instead of brushing me off, Allie put together samples of each contender so I could test them in daylight at home. That extra attention and care meant so much, especially on such a busy day. Her energy was warm, patient, and genuinely helpful. I went into Sephora today with my wife and daughter to shop for Mother's Day gifts, and what should have been a nice family shopping trip turned into one of the most disrespectful retail experiences I've ever had because of an employee named Lisa. While shopping, my phone died and I was trying to text in regards to the gift I was there to purchase. So, I asked one of the reps walking around (Lisa) if there was a way I can charge it for a minute. She said she didn't have a charger and didn't want to be "responsible" for my phone. I said, it's ok.. I'll ask someone else. I then walked over to the front of the store, and asked a cashier if it would be possible, and the cashier was kind and accommodating. She plugged my phone in behind the counter ( away from any access a customer can have) while my family and I continued shopping. Everything was fine until Lisa decided to insert herself into the situation. She immediately got on her walkie-talkie and told the cashier that she told me we don't have a charger. She then walked over to the register, unplugged it and told me, "Sir, I already told you we can't charge your phone." That was not true -- she originally said she didn't have a charger and didn't want responsibility for it. The cashier clearly had no issue helping me. Instead of handling the situation calmly or respectfully, Lisa escalated it for absolutely no reason. She threatened to call security and demanded that I leave the store while my family was still shopping. I told she's being spiteful because someone else was kind enough to charge it... I said call security, I didn't do anything wrong.. I gave her attitude right back! Then she said.. sir , your being aggressive with me.. I said, you are the one looking for a problem, not me .. she then called security over... at this point , I knew she had nothing better to do. When security starts walking over.. it was an old man, maybe in his 80's. She goes outside .. and says to security.. this man just said you're too old to be security. That's not true .. but honestly.. this confirmed to me how she desperately wanted to escalate this... why tell security I said that ? He was far more professional and reasonable than Lisa. The security officer actually apologized to me after realizing how unnecessary the entire situation was. I apologized to him for having his time wasted over something so ridiculous. At that point, my family and I left without buying anything. Lisa's attitude, hostility, and complete lack of customer service ruined the entire experience. It was embarrassing to watch an employee create such an unnecessary confrontation over something so minor, especially when another employee had already been kind enough to help. Side note - Lisa refused to give her name and was not wearing a name tag . It was after we left the store, that my daughter told me her name was Lisa , that she introduced herself when we walked into. read more

ONE STAR... BEYOND FRUSTRATING. I came in to return three makeup items that were a GIFT and had a gift receipt. The associate, Allie, scanned everything, handed me a receipt, and said I was "all set." When I asked where my store credit was, she said -- word for word -- "it goes back to the card you used." I told her multiple times that it was a GIFT and I DID NOT USE MY CARD. I genuinely don't know what wasn't clicking. I kept repeating the same thing and she kept saying the same wrong answer back to me. At no point did she stop to think, check the policy, or call a manager. Just straight arguing while clearly not understanding how gift receipts work. The entire purpose of a gift receipt is so the refund does NOT go back to the purchaser's card. This is basic retail knowledge. Instead, I walked out without the store credit I was supposed to receive and with zero solution offered. Extremely disappointing, irritating, and unprofessional. Train your employees better -- customers should not have to explain store policy to staff. read more

This store had the WORST customer service. I purchased a product online a month ago tomorrow. When I opened it a few days ago it was damaged. I just tried to exchange it for the exact same product and they wouldn't do anything because it had been past 30 days from the purchase date (not the delivery date like every other company, which would be tomorrow). They just lost a customer. There is too much competition to treat people that way. A damaged product should always be taken care of regardless of the timeline but especially if it's still within 30 days of the delivery date. Absolutely horrible! Be very careful if using a credit card. Supposedly per the manager on duty on March 6, 2026 at 1:22 pm, I made a transaction and the credit card machine indicated it was approved and went through but the manager behind the counter said it didn't go through and she would have to ring it up again and now on my card statement i have two charges for one transaction. I called Mission Viejo Sephora and talked to same manager today and she told me i would never have to dispute. So far i have wasted 20 minutes of my time to file a dispute and it still is not going to be taken off until they do an investigation. This is crazy!! I only went to Sephora for one reason... To get some thing that had one in stock left and I could not find online. I walked into Sephora tonight to pick up one of the only make up items that I religiously use, which was a concealer that they are discontinuing by Armani and they had the last one left in the store. While I was there, I thought what the heck I'll have somebody match my color for foundation - both tan and my regular skin tone. I prayed to have a good consultant who could guide me through my options. Not to mention the fact that I showed up at 7:30 and the store closes at eight. Needless to say, God sent me an angel. MINA helped me expeditiously select two foundations and several under concealers that were perfect for every possible scenario. I was very blessed to have her help me and really appreciated her positive energy and her ability to quickly assess my skin tone and understand what I was looking for and make recommendations that hit the nail on the head. I like going to this Sephora because it's not too busy and it has the brands I love. It's also my go to Sephora because I get my brows done here. If you book with Lori, she's a sweetheart. Not only she's talented at what she does, she makes you feel right at home. I've been here a few times to shop for make up and beauty cleansing products. The staff was always helpful and found products that would match my fair Filipino complexion. Shops at Mission Viejo is a sleepy mall but it does have some of my favorite stores are in this mall. I had a good experience when I swung by here for their sale a couple weeks ago. I was able to get help with questions on products fairly fast. The employee helping me was knowledgeable and provided more information than I expected, which was a definite plus. The store looked clean and organized, like all of the Sephora stores I've seen. I bought the Sephora brand SClean clean glowing skin foundation and the color match was very good. I also asked for some samples of products I had heard about online, and was interested in, but wasn't sure about. The employee created them quickly and put them in a ziplock-type Sephora branded recyclable baggie on which the names of the sampled products were listed corresponding to A, B, and C stickers placed on the sample containers. I went to buy my skin care products, the lady that was helping me was so kind and helpful.

Trying to pay this evening was awful! There was a lady at the register talking and talking non-stop to the only cashier. What's worse, is that the cashier with the short pixie cut (who sounds like Minnie Mouse when she talks) was having a full blown conversation with this woman. This went on for at least 6 minutes, which is an eternity when you're just trying to pay for something and leave. The line kept getting longer and longer, and this cashier was completely oblivious and kept carrying on, laughing, asking questions, recommending certain leave-in conditioners and other products, asking this customer if she'd like the full size or travel size of this or that product, telling her about which product she likes and why, etc. etc. etc. Basically giving this one person a full-on consultation. (Keep in mind, she hadn't even gotten to this woman's points yet.) The lady standing in line in front of me huffed and puffed. I locked eyes with her briefly and rolled my eyes. We both had had enough. It's ridiculous that no other cashiers were called. But there were plenty of employees on the floor either standing around chatting with each other or helping customers at the last minute. At this point they had already cut the overhead music because the store was about to close. Still, the line didn't budge and there was only one cashier. This one solo cashier had such tunnel vision and continued to be so oblivious as to how inconsiderate she was to the other 9+ people that needed to be checked out. I finally spoke up and asked her if there were any other cashiers that could come to the front to help out. This employee, caught off guard, clapped back at my request and asked me to "please be patient because everyone is busy helping other customers." She didn't even apologize, or request back-ups, or anything. She automatically scolded me. Beyond triggered, I pointed out the obvious and told her that some of just needed to pay and go. I'm sure that I'm the one who looks like the bad guy, simply because I'm the one who spoke up. But rest assured I wasn't the only one standing in line pissed and huffing and puffing. I'm sure there was a million cameras (and microphones) on me, and within 60 seconds a second cashier appeared and opened up a register. The line **finally** started to slowly move. The one woman who was up there getting the full-on consultation and chatting away finally got her credit card out to pay, and she apologized to the pixie cut cashier. This cashier replied by saying, "no, don't apologize." And she made sure to say this a little louder than normal (probably to make sure I was in ear-shot and heard this.) I expect more from Sephora. Some of us have other things to do besides stand in line for 10 minutes and witness a stranger's full-blown custom consultation about half a dozen different products by the cashier. But when you're so oblivious and hold up the line that bad, then you shouldn't be working the registers. It's sad when they hire and train these retail employees, and they have zero common sense when it comes to basic customer service. If I'm going to be "punished" and basically called impatient while we're all sick and tired of waiting because one cashier is beyond oblivious then I'll just give my business to Ulta moving forward. read more

This used to be my favorite place to shop. I gal named Jewel worked here who was so helpful. Always made me samples of new products I wanted to try and spent one on one time helping me find the right products for me. However I have not seen her around in a long time and I dont get quality service anymore. Now the employees say "excuse me" as they walk right past me without offering any help. It takes a while to track down someone to help me. Lines are still long to checkout, as they always were. This company used to have the best return policy. Exchanges up to 1 year. So I spent thousands of dollars here. They changed their policy to a crappy 30 days. I came in to do a return at 31 days and they wouldn't do it. This will make me take my business to Nordstroms, who still has a good return policy. And the most recent obnoxious thing about Sephora is the glitch on their app that won't let you pay your bill. I reached out to customer service 5 times trying to get them to be aware of the error message and fix it, but none of their customer service reps were even slightly helpful. Sephora used to be my go to shopping place. But its really gone downhill, from the customer service to the return policy to the app glitches. Her excuse "I will get in big trouble" I didn't want to pull the cancer card but I had a return over 60 days, yes I understand the policy is 60 days. But! The cashier who spoke with another manager tells me we can do store credit or an exchange. I said no problem I will do store credit. As she is ringing it up it must have flagged It so she calls over Sahar who says it's over 60 days nothing she can do. I explained that I was recovering from lung cancer which is why I couldn't get here sooner. She says to call customer service. If it was a few days over she would! Really? So you are ok to get into trouble for a few days but 30 days is out of the question. Wow. Thanks for having some empathy! So I call customer service they can't help me because it is an in store purchase. They tell me that the store can give give me the district managers contact info. So of course I call back Sahar, who again proved to be useless, and she refused to give me the number and last name of the district manager because she read the "policy". Unbelievable. Stay clear from #Sephora. Their customer service is deplorable. Shop at Nordstrom instead! There are so many other places that are willing to make an exception. When does plain human decency come into play? I didn't want my money back just wanted store credit. It's a business decision and she just wasted a loyal (no more) customers time because Sahar would have to explain why she gave me store credit outside the policy. I had a small run in with vanity and had a bruise that engulfed my eye two days before a major fundraiser in my industry! It's a formal affair where lots of money is raised for kids and everyone gets to be dazzling for a night. I called the day before to give them a heads up about my eye and to see if there was anything that could help cover it. My concealer was not really doing the trick.
