Dishonest and inconsistent policies. I spent over $100 on a shampoo/conditioner, only to realize after getting home that the products contained ingredients I avoid. I returned the very next morning with the items completely unopened, only to be told that they don't issue refunds, only store credit (even for unused products). This is especially frustrating because I've returned items at this exact location before with no issue, and Planet Beauty's own corporate site clearly states they honor refunds within 30 days for unused items with the original receipt. When I reached out to corporate for clarification, the customer service was unhelpful and dismissive. Seemed to lack basic comprehension skills and was clearly not willing or interested in resolving anything. If this is a new policy, it's unreasonable to expect customers to discover it printed on the back of a receipt after making a purchase. Policy changes should be communicated upfront at the register so customers can make an informed decision. Additionally, I've been a member of their rewards program for over 10 years, half the time I provide my information for the 20% discount, it's not honored. Bottom line: I've been a loyal shopper here, but the lack of transparency and unwillingness to stand by their own stated policies makes me think twice about ever shopping at Planet Beauty again, I certainly won't return to this store read more

I really like this Planet Beauty location. I always come here when I need any of my favorite beauty supplies. With good service and all the best new products, this store can be addictive. This location has a good selection of products for hair, skin, and nails. They also have some great cosmetic brands and the cutest makeup bags. I usually stop by here when I need the latest OPI or Deborah Lippmann nail polishes. The sales staff is really helpful here and can answer all my beauty related questions. I just got home and had to share. I went in the store and the clerk was ringing up another customer and didn't acknowledge me at all. No big deal but two men came in shortly after me and she right away said, "I'll be with you as soon as I finish up with this customer. " Huh??? Then they went in the back part of the store and another person asked if she could help them. I'm still there wandering around ready to spend $$$ on gifts. Apparently one salesperson wasn't enough, so when the woman in the front finished her transaction she went to the back and the two men got the double sales treatment. Still no acknowledgement of me as I wandered all over the store, picking up things to purchase. I actually could have walked out without paying-not that I would have-and I'm sure I still wouldn't have been acknowledged. I only moved to the area from Laguna Beach last year and shopped in both the Newport Beach Bluffs and Corona del Mar locations (before CDM closed) for many years and always received stellar service. I guess if I want to spend my $$$ with Planet Beauty I'll have to make the drive up to Newport. Very disappointing read more

Beware of Groupon coupon. They will not honor return policy or exchange. You have to read everything on the Groupon and at the very end in fine print 'no returns, no exchanges.' Great deal $25 for $50 worth of product, but if you don't like the product, their return policy is not the same with Groupon coupon as it is when you normally purchase in store. Buyer beware of this great deal! False Advertising? I'm beyond shocked and will not buy at Planet Beauty again. Horrible customer service! I showed up yesterday evening to shop at about 6pm... the door was locked and it's supposed to close at 7pm. I saw 2 ladies inside and they didn't even both come over and talk to me and tell me why the door is locked. I waited there for a few minutes and they seemed to ignore me so I left! Went in the store today to buy some sunscreen and was greeted by Macy . Hopefully that is how you spell her name . Anyways she was very nice and knowledgeable about the product I had questions about . Once I decided on buying the product I got in line behind a lady that was having trouble getting something she ordered or something not totally sure, however Macy had the best customer service with the lady and if she was not as helpful as she was with the lady I think she would have left upset . Came here twice in the last month. Both times, the staff weren't very friendly or helpful. A very pretty girl approached me to ask if I needed anything. I informed her that I was looking for eyelash perm. Then I had to listen that there is no such thing (which is incorrect) and that I have long lashes that would be curled by a particular mascara that she knows would curl my lashes. In all honesty, I've been using mascara longer than she's been alive and I KNOW that there's no such thing that works on my lashes. Aside from that little irritation, the few people (male and female) that I've worked with at this location have not been very pleasant. It is simple...Yesterday, Oct. 7th, After I spent 70.00 dollars on a bottle of shampoo, I asked if I could use their restroom -- as i wanted to look around the store more, but I can't do that if I am doing the pee pee dance. The ladies at the counter would not allow me to use the restroom!!! They said, "our customer restroom is broken and the other restroom is for employees only". WHAT!!!! This is why you have to be careful who you hire...I am certain that if I could have shopped without doing the pee pee dance...I would have spent three times the money I spent...I had to grab the shampoo and go quickly, but I needed so many more items, but when you have to go pee...you have to go pee.... so i LEFT! The store is full of beautifully curated items...I just couldn't look or buy any of them, because I was so uncomfortable holding my pee. Lol. Both Devin, the manager and Devynne, the makeup artist were delightful. I was on hold with Ulta Beauty when I decided to hang up and call planet beauty. I needed a last minute full make up makeover for my 77 year old mother. She wanted her eyes to be open and to use lashes. Devynne listened, was kind and 2 hours later we were on our way to a photo shoot where my mom looked amazing and the makeup held up! Highly recommend :) But I'd give five stars if the salon had a more comfortable place to have makeup done. Instead it was up front on a hard high chair and not private in anyway. Also drinks were not offered to make things more comfortable like you would experience in a salon. But because of the two ladies I would recommend Planet Beauty again in a heartbeat. read more

Her cuts are great and my color lasts longer & looks better than I've ever experienced before. She gives me great advice when I need it and I always leave happy. Devin & her team in the store are really helpful. I've been so happy with the products Devin & Melody help me choose. I never feel like products are pushed on me and, every time, I've benefitted from their advice. Went in to use a Groupon. Walked around (un-helped mind you) until I got to $30. When I went to check out the associate informs me I won't get the 50% off the Christmas sale item I had chosen with a Groupon. "Their system won;t allow it". I try to explain there is nothing that restricts me from using the Groupon with sale or clearance items. She wouldn't do it. I should have walked out at that point. But I put back the sale item and looked for items to reach $30 (again with no help at all). I finally do and walk to the register. A customer has left her purse and items on the counter and both she and the associate are out on the floor looking at cosmetics. I guess she ranked the help that I did not. Another associate walks up finally (clocks in and is telling the other associate about her HUGE lunch and how she is soooo full) and I ask her if I should go to the other register. No, she says, that one is broken. So I kind of look at the other customer's stuff all over the place, like "really?". Mind you the customer is now in the vicinity and can see I am trying to check out but of course does not move her items. So the girl starts ringing up my items and I finally leave. I get to my car and realize she charged me twice for the same thing. I come back in and she asks me why I am back and I tell her she charged me twice. She's like "I thought that might be it". Now there are 3 customers in line so I get in line... you think she'd take me right away to correct her error, but not-so-much. I have things to do so I tell her I'll just grab another of what she charged me twice for. She's like sure, sorry about that. I get home and going through my stuff I realize she over-charged me for 2 items. Soooo annoyed. Never going back to that location. Bad set-up, unprofessional employees and no attention to detail. read more

At 1400 hours on 6-14-20 both my daughter(13) and I came in to get our regular necessities! We were the only ones in the store. Not once!!!!! Did I mention NOT ONCE, did the young clerk ask us if we needed assistance and or have any questions! Not only did she not ask, she didn't even acknowledge us!
