She helped me match my color, asked me my makeup preferences, was willing to oblige my numerous requests to try on different products, and shared recommendations based on her own experience. This is by far my favorite Sephora that I've ever shopped at. Before you roll your eyes and start in with your negative comments here's the deal. The lines are long at EVERY Sephora store so the people behind the registers have no control over how many of them are behind there or how fast they're moving with each client. There is only so many artists on the floor that can help so many people (especially on the weekends). Also if it's out of stock, again, it's not the fault of the people that work there. They are going their best to give you the best Sephora experience. Just like you, each client want their artist to take their time with them and help them find exactly what they came in to look for. The reason I love this Sephora so much is because I feel like whenever I get help from an artist I feel like I'm shopping with a friend. They have always made me feel welcomed! Most importantly the skin care studio. My obsession for the past few months have been the perk facials. You spend $75 worth of product and get a facial. LOVE the perk facials but also every time I get one I never feel like I'm being pushed with products and that I need to buy every single one. Okay, this is probably the worst Sephora i've ever shopped at!! #1- the store itself is too narrow, and they are trying to squish too much into a small space...um, hello! where would you like me to play around with this makeup? #2 I've never once had a friendly salesperson, oh and i've shopped here for 7+ years...NEVER! sure they say hi...but um, are you not supposed to show me what I have to buy? what I am missing out on? they are the experts on the zillions of products right? yet I am the one who should look through all the isles?!? hrmmm methinks not. IMO, unless its something you simply can not get at nordies (curse those damn exclusive lines that are only at sephora in the area!) then you'll have to go in. Otherwise, do all your shopping at nordies, or the retailer directly (i.e. origins in the mall). I expect for an expert to help me when I am shopping expensive (not drugstore) brands. I also expect samples, which you don't really get at sephora not a fan as you can tell. However, I do like the Sephora store in Burlingame, now thats a Sephora! they have their -ish together! read more

She also gave several samples to try before I bought. She also helped color match me for a BB/CC foundation since I have never worn make before. Plus recommended a great brow pencil. 5 stars for Alyshia who did my makeup for a wedding I attended in August!! She was so friendly and knowledgeable when I went in on a Thursday to find a new foundation that I couldn't help but ask her to do my makeup the next day! She is so good of what she does I'm looking forward to having her do my makeup in the near future!! She recommended Laura Mercier foundation and transparent powder and I love it!!! I went into the store to purchase some Make-up on Friday, February 4th, around 1:30pm. I was greeted by a sales associate with bright burgundy hair. She asked if I needed help finding anything, in which I replied "yes, please". I explained what I was looking for. As she went onto her handheld device to check inventory, another customer came up as asked her a question. She then asked the question to fellow sales associate using her headpiece. She told me that she'll be right back, and she was going to help this woman quickly. Over 10 minutes go by, I'm still waiting. Ah how I love Sephora. I love it for the variety of brands and let's face it I am a makeup junkie so strolling through the aisles is so fulfilling! I usually go with a list of things I need in mind but at times workers will come up to me and ask if I need help. I can agree with others that usually when I have my full face of makeup I'm treated far better than my family/friends who doesn't cake it all on like I do, which is wrong and why I just like going for what I need and getting out. However the store itself is awesome, usually has really good stock on things and the workers can be helpful if you get lucky. There some busy rushes where the line is super long but if you wait it out there will be nobody in line for other rushes. Final thoughts: if you really don't like the snarky looks maybe just go in store to swatch new items and buy your things online! read more

I came in looking to get a color match. I've just been having a hard time finding the right color to match my skin tone. Upon entering, I was just browsing around to see the products they had. I stood inside the store for about a good 10-15 minutes before an associate spotted me and asked if I needed any help. From then it went really smoothly. She got one of the ladies to help color match me and I absolutely love the foundation she recommended to me. Overall, it was a good experience. I'm not sooo much into make up, but I'm learning my way around everything. Only dock down a star for how long it took to get assistance. read more

When in the Tri-valley for wine-tasting or visiting friends, I often come to visit this Sephora and purchase a Fragrance or face Powder etc. Though it may be slightly busier during the weekend, it's in Stoneridge Mall where it is easy to spot. Just look for the black and white stripes : ) Their Fragrance section is at the very back, there is always staff there who can assist clients. They even help out find which Fragrance is similar to the ones I already have. Unfortunately they do not carry the same line of Fragrances as Sephora at Valley Fair (Tom Ford and Jo Malone), but that's absolutely fine. They also do not carry Tom Ford cosmetics - I really love his lipsticks. This is probably good for me as too much Tom Ford can put a hole in my wallet... or on my credit card. They do carry, however, lots of skin care line that help my needs - Sunday Riley, Tatcha (oh but my last visit, the C-Radiance mask is still out of stock ... I may have luck in the Santana Row store), Murad, PTR, SK-II, fresh, (just to name a few and my favorite Amorepacific. Plenty of, and I mean PLENTY of makeup lines. One thing I really like about this store is there is always staff that can help and they are very helpful. They also have Farmacy here. For your skin care needs, it seems Sephora has everything for any skin issue for any ethic group. The staff will ask you if you would like a tester / sample if a product is out of stock. Fragrance samples are also easy to ask for if you're not sure which one fits you. The crowd that comes here too is very composed...unlike uh, hmmm. Anyhow, kudos to the staff of this store. My go to place for make up. I don't wear it unless I have something special going on, but when I do I usually come here for help. Everyone is always really nice and super friendly. They give me tips and even created a class so I could learn how to apply eye shadow. I used to go to MAC but Sephora is a lot more welcoming with a much larger variety of products. read more

This location was renovated last year and it's now a lot more spacious than it was before. Although it's a bigger space, I'm not sure if the store layout is conducive to pedestrian traffic or store aesthetics. It looks slightly more cramped somehow but maybe this is just me. Today was a very sad day lol most of all the Sephora girls were not in the mood to help anyone. My mom has approached one of the girls and asked if we could get a fresh Clinique foundation box from the drawer because all the ones on the top seemed open with lines and concealer on the ring of the bottle. One of the girls asked her with attitude and said opened? It should be be opened. My mom then replied and said well they look open and I want a new one. The girl responded and said well there not used so trust me. My mom asked again for her comfortability, can she get a fresh box and the girl said they just put out new boxes today and there new and laughed and said you can trust me. My mom was totally put off and turned off. I did not like how uncomfortable my mom felt and had asked another worker to help and she was more than willing to help and opened the drawer, with that said, I have overheard on the headset from the previous girl saying, tell them those bottles are brand new and tell them we have none. I clearly saw they had brand new bottles and she lied and said sorry we don't have any more. My mom noticed all the girls were looking at us because they are all listening on the walkie talkie. Then another girl came and asked what happened and I explained to her and she said that I can not be opening the bottles on the top to check if they are not opened or not because they can sell them. Don't get me wrong, I was not opening the boxes displayed out like crazy , I was slowly and lightly Untwisting them and looked through the tube to see if there was makeup on the wand , I barley opened the bottle and on the walkie I overheard them say get them out of here. I thought it was so rude because my mom and I were going to buy a bunch of products today and they totally missed out . In conclusion, we ended up going to the Clinique table in Macy's and come to find out we found a clean NEW bottle that is unopened and no concealer on the ring of the bottle or the wand unlike Sephora. AND my mom ended up blowing cash at the urban decay down stairs as well so they totally lost out on sales today. Long story short- Sephora girls there were lazy and rude, they want to act " smarter" than you and laugh at what you ask them when you go to them for help and they know it. I use to love going to this Sephora even if they were limited in products. Just went in there today and had the worst experience. They had way too much employees to the point an employee was asking me, "How are you doing? Did you need help with anything?" at every turn I made. I normally spend about an hour in there and come out of the store spending $200.00. I was getting so annoyed that I bought what I just needed and got out of there as fast I can. Sephora here is the same as any Sephora. I wish that the store was better designed because it is so busy and hard to get in and out of aisles. Also, the line to the register was halfway through the back of the store and all of the middle displays blocked where we could stand. My mother says that if I do not start being more careful where I put my lips, I am going to be sorry. But I can't help it. I love to experiment. With *color*, that is. With *lip* color, that is. I took my mother to Sephora a few weeks ago and she watched in horror as I tried on lipstick. "It's okay," I told her. "They sanitize it, see?" I handed a Nars matte lipstick in Cabaret to the friendly sales associate. She wiped off the tip with a Kleenex and gave it back to me. "See? Sanitized!" As I applied the rich bordeaux shade to my mouth, my mother got a nauseated look on her face, turned, and went to Pottery Barn. I spent most of the next twenty minutes trying on lipstick--all indistinguishable variations of the same color I already had in my purse. I have problems. Later, Mom and I went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (yeah,* I know*, but it's in the mall and we were hungry, so BITE ME). "That looks good," I said, eying her plate. "It is." And then, as I went to stab my fork into her cheesecake, my mother yanked her plate away as if Typhoid Mary had descended upon her dessert. With her other hand, she took a clean fork from the empty table beside us. "Here, use this fork. ONCE." So I have now decided to be a bit more discriminating about where I put my lips. But I will still be a lipstick whore and I will still shop at Sephora, and the greatest thing about this is that Sephora has a fabulous return policy. I don't do makeup, yet still have a blast in this store. My cool daughter does do makeup and this is a favored store to her. The prices are reasonable and sometimes far less than other bod-beautifying stores. While she shops for items to buy, I just browse the aisle after aisle of fun products. It blows me away how much face paint is available. Besides the face paint, they sell smelly stuff; perfumes and colognes, hair coloring products, facial lotions and more. Lots of stuff to beautify the bod. The staff we've encountered have been fabulous; friendly and helpful. During our last visit, my dear daughter purchased some Clinique lotion at a great price. The young lady who rung up her purchase was very gracious and tossed a few lotion samples in the bag. And my daughter let me choose the "Free gift with Purchase" product. No, I don't come here for make up. Although..... well, nevermind. When i go shopping with Desiree, it is our tradition to go to 2 places: The Sweet Factory so Desiree can get her sweet n sour candies and Sephora. We have never purchased ANYTHING from this store. In fact, we usually come out with headaches and our hands smelling like 10 million different perfumes and colognes. Yes, i said 10 million, i counted. We go around sampling fragrances and by sampling i mean spraying them onto paper sticks and sniffing them. After that, we take the ones that we like and put them, the sticks, into Desiree's purse. They actually have a pretty great selection of colognes and perfumes... i never go near the make up but it looks like they have a lot of that too. They have skin care products for men and most of the beauty tools you need like nail clippers and eyelash curlers. I can't complain whenever i come here. I never buy anything so i can never complain about the prices either, which i do think is a little on the pricey side. I love Sephora. I love the Arden fair Sephora best out of all I've been to. This one ranks last place for a few reasons: 1. Finding someone to help you is a lost cause. It is a help yourself environment. 2. Asking for a sample is frowned upon. Asking for two or even - EEK - three - better be buying something or they will refuse to give them to you. I had some stuff in my basket and I had one sample as well. My friend had racked up two samples and was asking for a third and the sample police said that because I had one and she had two - that meant we had three and shouldn't be allowed anymore. We actually had to get a manager over to begrudgingly give us a sample. When she handed her the sample, I handed her my basket and we walked out. I ended up ordering all my stuff online. I love Sephora as a store (mainly the selection of makeup--also, hence the two stars given) but I have never received good customer service from the sales floor employees. Yes, I'm young, and most of the time I walk in with very little makeup on, but I feel like this should NOT entitle me to having the sales floor employees outright ignore me as a customer. I feel as if they know I am not a serious customer or something. I'd like to add that this has happened multiple times to me in this store. I have literally walked by an employee in the front where she just smiled at me as I walked by (probably due to the fact that I made eye contact). I resume to test out some products, and I see a more mature woman walk in and get instantly greeted and asked about what products she's looking for, etc. I would like to add that the only good customer service I received was from the cashiers...but I feel like that's expected since at that point I am purchasing item(s) already. I'd also like to add that this has happened to my older sisters as well. They are older than I am, but they don't look vastly more mature than me, so I feel as if their own personal experiences is just as valid as mine. read more

Uggggh I hate this Sephora. The girls here are always rude, stuck up and unhelpful. Mind you I spend hundreds of dollars every single time I come in and I am very knowledgeable about makeup however if you don't come in with your "face beat" they don't even look your way and act like you are bothering them if you ask for help. I was just in there and the employees asked every customer around me if they needed help besides me. Then when I asked one simple question if they had anymore of a certain item in stock she acted as if I annoyed her. But she was asking other customers if they needed a color match, samples etc. This isn't the first time I had this experience at this location. I usually go down to the Sephora inside of JCPenney, the ladies there are always so helpful and friendly but unfortunately they don't have the full inventory like the storefront. read more

I'm a product whore. My cabinets cannot handle any more lotions, gels, brushes, makeup, perfume, exfoliating products, cleansers, hair products, etc, etc........ I go to Sephora every single chance I get looking for the newest stuff/stuff that I convince myself I really need and not just want. But the last time I went to Sephora I needed a new blush, no seriously I did need it, not just....errr...want it :) i have been a big fan of NARS makeup for awhile now, and I've been wanting to switch to their blushes for awhile now, but admitedly, wasn't sure what color I needed....... And to my rescue was the nicest man ever, (damnit I didn't get his name, but I know it's not the same man who helped me pick out the Dior mascara and Urban Decay stuff), and he was so nice and helpful I wanted to take him home as my personal makeup artist. Told him I wanted something that would give me a nice sun-kissed glow, like not too made up. I told him I was a faithful user of the NARS mulitple (which btw, is also a must-have) in Copacabana; what color would look good with this? Dolce Vita, he promised would look so good on ur skin tone with the multiple stick. With a couple swift strokes of the Dolce Vita, I looked in the mirror and he was right..... Sun kissed, without looking like Ragedy Ann :) Have never been disappointed in the service, the prodcut knowledge, the selection is vast, and the service is always top notch in my opinion. read more

I was not really appreciated when I came here. One, hardly anyone asked if I needed assistance. I had to HUNT for someone to help me, wasting over 20 minutes. Then they didn't have what I wanted in stock. So I bought eye-liner brush, at check out the lady ask, " are you a member?" I said, "oh no." She doesn't even bother to suggest me to sign and just gives me a snobby look. On top of that, she didn't even bother to offer any samples to me! SUCKTASTIC! That is how I would sum up the Stoneridge Mall Sephora. I went in to buy eyeliner. I am not a big makeup person, I use blush and a tinted lotion but I was going to a party and thought it would be fun to do my eyes. I walk in and the sales associate comes up and says. " What can I help you look for?".. as I was answering her question she walks away! In the middle of me speaking she walks away. I brush it off and continue looking for the eyeliner.. I didn't know if i wanted brown or black. Rude sales associate comes back.. doesn't apologize for so rudely walking away but says again, "Can I answer any questions?" I start to say that I don't know if I want brown or black and she walks away again!!! No excuse me, no hold on, nothing.. just walks away. I grab the black because I guess it is the most commonly used color and start walking to the register when the crazy shit comes back to "help" me... I just ignored her and went to the register.. It wasn't busy in the store, she wasn't helping a customer, she was bullshitting with coworkers. That's the worst part. I will never, ever, ever shop at Sephora again. If anyone from corporate gives a shit about these reviews and reads them I suggest someone train the employees on proper customer service skills. read more

so they send you coupons if you give them your email address. I got a $15 coupon if you spend at least $40. I spent $130. I did not like my mosturing gloves so i went to return them... they gave me back the discounted price... huh why??? because they took the $15 off the whole purchase so each item was discounted??? ok so i still spent way over $40 so should the $15 be taken of that, no its store policy to give you the discounted price... oh store policy=screw customer..... LESSON... return w/o reciept and get store credit OR have separate transaction with item you really want and the other with item maybe want. Customer service - the one that "help" you find the makeup you want- suck also...... "Im looking for a mascara that lengthen and thicken?
