The Sephora in the Poughkeepsie Galleria is clean, organized and the staff is very helpful. They come up to you to ask if you need help but they don't pressure you. Also, my recommendation is that you sign up for their "beauty insider" rewards program. It's free and when you do you can earn points for money spent and even get a free gift for your birthday. My favorite make up store. I love it. Due to covid I try to avoid going into stores. Sephora makes it easier by shopping online. I did the reservations online. Was by far amazing. Sephora at the Poughkeepsie Galleria is doing everything to make us feel safe shopping again! They have a greeter who explains their new policies before you enter, and she paired me with a team member (I think he's a manager or definitely has been working there for years) to assist. As always he was a delight and asked me a few leading questions and helped me find exactly what I was looking for, and also sample sprayed a couple strips of perfumes I've been eyeing. A+ 100! Specifically for the store in the mall (not inside JC Penney): I rarely shop here, as I don't wear makeup and have a very simple, natural skincare routine. I came in on the recommendation of a friend to try out the LaVanilla sport deodorant. I found some in the impulse stands by the register, but couldn't find a tester. I asked one of the associates if there was a tester somewhere, as I'm very sensitive to smell and will often end up with a vomit/migraine combo if a smell doesn't agree with me. She radioed to another associate, and it seems that there were no testers to be found. I explained my situation and asked if it was possible to tester one. An older woman with light brown/dyed blonde-ish hair took over and let me know that the smell was very light, that I'd like it, and that if I didn't like it, I could return it. I explained my situation to her, and she just stared at me, clearly annoyed, and told me that if it bothered me, that I could return it. I'm not going to subject myself to a crippling headache and vomiting over deodorant. It would have been easy enough to tester out a product (there are testers of everything else, including deodorant, so it's something that's definitely allowed). She offered a different scent to smell, but the smell is different, and the potential trigger is the smell, so that doesn't work. She again mentioned how light the smell was, and that I'd like it. The store was not busy - there was one customer checking out, and myself... and there were 3 or 4 associates together chatting. I'm sorry that I interrupted their chat time, however I didn't think that I was asking for too much. I work in retail, where we tester/demo products all the time. If a customer brings something to me to try and there's no tester available, I make one. Quick, easy, and a potential sale/repeat customer. I drove up 9 to Ulta, where they gladly made a tester for me. I purchased several, and will return there to stock up as needed, even though I work in the mall and rarely drive as far north as Ulta. read more

I love sephora! It's really easy for me to get stuck in there for a couple hours if I don't have a game plan so I've been doing a lot of research before I go, comparing product reviews etc. However, this is something that has deterred me from stepping foot in this store for a while now which sucks cause I still have an unused giftcard from Christmas. A couple months ago I decided to go get the Nars copacabana highlighter and was also considering switching from the Anastasia dip brow pomade to their powder. An employee was doing her makeup in a nearby mirror so I said excuse me--told her I was thinking of going from the pomade to powder....and she just glared at me the entire time. Finally she was like no you'll hate it switch to brow wiz it's the same color you use for pomade ok? And walked away to another mirror. I haven't gone back since and have been going to ulta instead. It sucks cause I do need a couple things that only sephora carries. Maybe the next time I go she won't be there. Just unfortunate that she was so rude. read more

Walked in wanting to get matched for a specific brand. The Sephora employee did everything to avoid that. Tried selling me on 5 different skin care products and a foundation by a different brand that I had ZERO interest in. I had to ask 3 different times to be matched with the brand I had initially walked in for. Finally, she decides to tell me no because they don't have my match. So I ask to show me the closest to my skin completion. She gives in and says nope see told you it's too yellow. Take this one instead along with these 5 skin products. Um, no I'm not taking anything. She got bothered by that. I'm sorry but this is not your money I'm spending. Please, if I'm asking you for something help me out with that THEN try selling me on other things. Don't just flat out avoid my request. Since I declined I guess 3 other employees thought it was okay to follow my friends and I every move. No, we're not planning on pocketing anything.
