Ash is so helpful whenever I come and shop here. She's always cheerful, greets me every time I come & provides excellent recommendations and customer service. I miss seeing one of the managers who use to work here... I believe she was promoted to another location (so happy for her! I think her name was Jae? Filipino lady... sooo friendly and amazing!) The store overall has a solid selection of brands. Not as much as the larger Sephora locations in San Diego but that's okay. Parking in the lot can get a bit crazy 6pm to close esp the weekends. There is of course a drive-up/pick-up option if you don't feel like leaving your vehicle. Overall - still happy with my 20-30 times shopping here since they opened a couple of years ago. :) read more

I had a really disappointing experience at Sephora recently that has left me questioning whether I'll ever shop there again. I went in to exchange an item I had just picked up in-store from an online order, and instead of a smooth transaction, I was met with unnecessary attitude and resistance from the cashier. I explained that I wanted to return the original item and purchase a different brand/shade instead. She immediately insisted on processing it as an exchange, which, as many Sephora customers know, means if the new product doesn't work out, you're only eligible for store credit--not a refund. That's a frustrating policy in itself, but I made it clear I preferred a return and separate purchase so I wouldn't be stuck with store credit. She then claimed she couldn't process it as a return without a receipt, even after I told her I'd purchased it online and had just picked it up. When I showed her the receipt, she still seemed reluctant to help and clearly just didn't want to go through the hassle of two separate transactions. What's worse--there wasn't a single other customer in the store. There was no rush, no line--just me and an employee who didn't want to do her job. I've never had an issue like this at Ulta. Their customer service is always warm, helpful, and focused on making the customer happy. Maybe Sephora should consider sending their staff there for customer service training. This experience was enough for me. I won't be shopping at this Sephora again. read more

They were the "Effortless Velour" VB847, which were a bit smaller in both size and length and seemed more natural looking to me. On multiple occasions, the employees here have provided rude service. I have been here at least a handful of times where they seemed bothered to help me find items I'm looking for. Anytime you have a return, their attitude completely changes. I was once given an item that the employee said was reformulated but the colors are the same. It was completely off from my skin tone. This was one of the occasions where she did not seem like she wanted to help me, so instead of checking, she just gave me the same color name. Staff is rude, unfriendly, and snobbish. Twice now I've come in and the employee working the online orders area has made very pointed eye contact with me, looked me up and down, and then turned around to ignore me for a few excruciating minutes until they finally, very rudely, ask if I'm here to pick up an order. Nope, I'm just standing at the very obviously labeled "Online Pick-Up" counter for funsies... On another occasion, I came in and had trouble finding a specific product. A staff member did come up to ask me if I needed help - so far so good - but when she did find the product she rolled her eyes, sighed, and handed it to me with a sarcastic flourish. I'm so sorry to be an inconvenience for answering you honestly when you came up to me to ask if you could help! The parking lot here is also really dangerous with cars speeding up and down the aisles and not yielding to pedestrians crossing. I'll buy from the brands themselves or take my money to Ulta rather than come back here. At least they don't act like it's a huge chore for me to give them my money. read more

I've been to this store a total of 4 times now and I'm comfortable with staying at the 3 star rating. Tldr: Overall great product selection, but I'd say go in after doing your research and knowing what you want. The second time I came, I needed help finding a foundation. The lady who helped me was nice (a bit in a rush, not her fault), but only showed me two options and did not provide me a sample to try at home. Instead, she asked me if I wanted to purchase them and said I could return them if they didn't work out. I found this to be very wasteful, since I ended up returning both products. She also didn't spend as much time as I would have liked because she needed to go on break. I think the manager should have put me with someone who didn't need to go on a break 10-15 minutes after helping me as clearly there are tons of foundations in the store and I was only introduced to 2. Also, that foundation app finder they have is pretty inaccurate. Second time I come in, same issue with not providing a sample. Instead, I bought a full product. I ended up keeping that product but don't really use it much. Kinda feel bad and wasteful bringing it back. Maybe that's what they are hoping to achieve. Lastly, I inquired about a heat protector with a different associate. The associate brings me to a smoothing one after I tell her I want something that creates volume and is for curls. She said it would work for me, but when I contacted the company who makes it, they recommended a different heat protector as the other one wouldn't give me the results I was trying to achieve. After learning this, I returned that item as well with the unsettlement that it was also probably going in the trash. A lot of products to choose from, but as I said above, do your research ahead of time. read more

I'm so happy to see they opened one in this Plaza! I always go to the Marshall's and TJmaxx here. Makes it even more convenient to pick my makeup at the same time. It was my first time at this location. I knew exactly what I needed walking in. I was greeted immediately, and I told her what I needed. She led me right to the aisle and got the colors I needed. Awful experience. Do not buy gift cards from Sephora. I received a damaged gift card, and their response was, "That's your problem--we won't refund your money." I'm a big Sephora fan and really happy this location opened up closer to me. This review is for how I was treated today for an appointment. Unfortunately, Sephora had to cancel my makeup appointment that I made this afternoon. While I completely understand the reason behind it (not at all mad about that) I feel that I was basically shooed out of the store and this was poorly handled. After staff told me why the appointment was cancelled I asked if I could wait in the store until I got the notification that my appointment was cancelled. The store employee just said "yeah, yeah, yeah it's been cancelled" and cut me off when I was trying to tell her I was just waiting to see it on my end, at the same time trying to check my phone and make sure it was cancelled - I did not want to get charged for a no show or something. Feeling more embarrassed if anything because at that point people were staring, I left without confirming on my end that everything was cancelled. Like I said, I'm a big Sephora fan so I'm sad this happened to me. This store is big and has a good selection but I probably won't make another appointment to get a service done here again. Was thrilled to have a new Sephora store near by. However, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment. Despite being thrilled about the proximity, the selection was underwhelming, with several items consistently out of stock for the few times I have gone. What made matters worse was the lackluster customer service. As others have mentioned in their reviews for this particular location. The staff, particularly the manager at the register, seemed disinterested and indifferent to addressing concerns. It's disheartening when those in charge show little regard for customer satisfaction. The last time I went in, was for a $500 hair tool, had to waited over 10 mins, multiple followed up before the Manager at the cashier care to tell me they do not have that in stock. Why would i even bother to go into this store anymore when i can order directly online, or go the UTC location with much better customer service (at least all the staffs are welcoming the moment we walked in). Overall, while I appreciate the convenience of having a Sephora nearby, my experience at the Carmel Mountain location left much to be desired. Hopefully, improvements in stock availability and customer service can elevate the shopping experience for future visitors. read more

This branch used to be fun and cool when I first visited. People were friendly and genuinely helpful. Two years later, the staff changed. They like to chat in the corner and when you walk in, they look at you from head to toe as if they are measuring you up. I literally just purchased $1k worth of items online and I went to the store for samples and they gave me a tiny squeeze smaller than pea of a body lotion as if they don't want to give me anything! And gave me a bad look as they are handing out the sample. I walked out unhappy and not wanting to return! The staff sucks. read more

But every time i come here, theres always upset customers (karens) (duh its caramel mtn) and it gives me the ick so bad. i feel bad for the workers because all these customers get upset over the stupidest stuff. Like one time i saw this older lady get mad that this location doesnt carry estee lauder like what do u want them to do GO GET IT FOR U AND HAND DELIVER IT??? Nice store with friendly service, but I encountered an issue I've never had at other Sephoras: all the heavy fragrance is suffocating. Twice now I've come out reeking of perfume and cologne. It was so bad it remained in my shirt even after I washed it. Please improve your ventilation, CM Sephora! This is also important given all the respiratory illnesses currently circulating - there were coughing customers inside. I had a great experience with Casey in this store. I recently had some surgery on my nose for skin cancer removal and it left some redness. Casey was great about offering some product suggestions for what might help with the redness. I really appreciate the time she spent with me. And what I especially liked was that she didn't try to pressure me into buying something that day. I let her know I wanted to check with my dermatologist first and she was super understanding. I still left with a great hairspray I purchased which was recommended by Casey. Wonderful customer service and I will come back just for her. read more
