Tammy was incredible, I don't normally shop at Sephora because it isn't near by for me. Normally they seem short staffed lately and everyone is a little too busy or rushing to get to the next customer but Tammy was great! She spotted me debating between primers and stepped in to help. She then helped me pick out a new perfume teaching me the difference between de toilette, perfume, and de perfume and I never knew the difference. 10% purchase alright gotta check that out. I wandered around the store just checking out everything. With that kind of deal how can I pass up. I had enough time so I got an eyelash application. First she had me pick out lashes then she applied them for me. Other time I've had this done was for my wedding. The ones I picked out were neutral and not too dramatic. She had to cut them shorter since I have tiny eyes lol. I ended up buying lashes, eyelash glue and black eyeliner. I used to be able to write a check here..yes I am old. If I could give them 0 stars I would because they truly don't deserve one. Upon entry, I was greeted but what I was searching for was directly in front of the door. As I'm trying/swatching lipglosses I notice I'm being watched. I walked away to a mirror and turn back to place the gloss down and notice the employee take note of the lipglosses I'd picked up. THEN, as I proceed throughout the store with a friend I run into an employee. This wouldn't be an issue if at every point I'd switched locations she wasn't directly there with me and trying to discretely watch me. I don't know the woman's name but she had a ponytail with what I want to say are ginger streaks. This establishment is racist and honestly every-time I come in I'm stereotyped and stalked as I try to shop. It's annoying and frustrating. I love this store...this particular store. Everyone here is super nice and helpful. I enjoy the "express makeup" service they provide, and the girls who have done my makeup always offer great suggestions and introduce me to new products. I especially appreciate that the suggestions they give me are often times less expensive. They really suggest what's best for the customer, offer free samples (cheerfully), and are really knowledgeable and honest about their products. Because of the excellent service I've gotten here, I am using new products I'm really happy with and find myself constantly checking out the Sephora website for new products and sales. Love this Sephora due to how kind and helpful Bree and Tammy were! I literally know nothing about makeup when I came in on the 19th of August, a makeup saleswoman helped me and I hated the products she recommended. I tried to write a review beginning of September based off the Metallica review site on receipt and it wouldn't let me so doing it on here. I came back on the 23 to return and maybe find products I would actually like and Bree helped me find everything I wanted and needed. I left with like 15 products and spent over $300. Like i said i know nothing about makeup so she took me through each item i should be using and explained how to use them. I literally love her, she's the best. Wish she could actually teach me in person how to do my makeup. Will come back to visit her again! Love this place . So much makeup so little time. I love the fact that they have artists who can do your make-up and that way you can see the colors on you. Makes all the difference. The fragrances here are also an incredible selection. All the finest in the house. The service could be better here, a find line between being bothered and not having anyone to help you. Came in straight to asking for a specific product, the person that was suppose to help. Was NO help at all. Which she also looked like a manager. Didn't get her name because she didn't even speak to me, we asked for the product, and all she did was look where it should be or in the drawers, she then spoke to her little walker talkie. I just experienced exceptional customer service at this Sephora today! After having come in a few months ago and purchased the wrong shade of foundation I was too embarrassed to return it because I had used some of it so I called ahead and they reassured me it wouldn't be a problem. When I arrived they already had my correct foundation waiting for me at the check out counter, they even nicely bagged it for me. The workers here are so condescending! I came here to return a lip liner that wasn't exactly the right color online as well as a Hoolah, exchange a brow pencil for a shorter one, and buy a set of brushes. I also had a question about a foundation I had recently bought and brought it in case I wanted to return it based on the help I got from the employees. I was wrong to think they would help. At first explanation of my situation, one of the employees was quite friendly and accepting of the returns and exchanges, and instructed me to go grab the exchange item myself. However they were gone by the time I was back, leaving my items completely vulnerable for anyone to snatch. Furthermore, the second employee who helped me afterward acted as if I was attempting to steal the foundation which I already paid for. The receipt is right in front of you! She grabbed the item out of my hand as I explained it was not for exchange but I just had some questions. If I wasn't in a rush I would have very much liked to speak to her manager. I'm sorry I wanted more details on how to correctly apply the foundation from you, because I thought that was your job? I'm disappointed in the overall attitude of the employees at this store. Please have a correct way of working and communication between your employees. If you are also beginning your interest in makeup and have the option to go to Sephora at valley fair, I definitely recommend the valley fair location! Lovely staff and super helpful! I had to do an exchange on a concealer that unfortunately did not seem to agree with my skin. The gal that helped me tried out a few others and of course with my luck, the brand and color that I needed were out of stock. BOO! She then walked me up to the front where she had another lovely gal quickly exchange my product and set me up for an online order so I wouldn't have to do it on my own. I rarely return or exchange product, so the fact that they were so kind about it really made my day. And I was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes after perusing the aisles a bit. I also picked up some other goodies that the first gal had recommended and so far so good. It's unfortunate that others have had not so stellar experiences here. I recently run out all of my foundation, and now try to get a new foundation that also have full coverage, specifically for oilly/combination skin, and also long lasting(I am super lazy and won't do any touch up during the day), so I am super super picky about this. I will warn you though, I usually get tempted to buy more than I initially plan on buying so with that said, keep your credit cards at home and bring enough cash for the bare necessities, unless of course you have better self control than me. hehe I love their Shiseido fragrances as well. It's a small store, but I usually find all that I really need. I don't mind spending more for good quality products that last a long time and don't disappoint. As for customer service..like another reviewer mentioned, it's usually a hit or miss. I really do appreciate good customer service since I use to work as a cashier, greeter, and usher. I really love this Sephora because they have a huge selection and their staff is amazing. I usually go around peak hours so there's always a lot of staff there to assist you. Every time I go, they are always attentive and open to help. I've only had one experience where they were understaffed so it was difficult to find someone to help me find what I needed. They provide great advice and recommendations on all my make-up needs (since I don't really wear makeup and never know what to get). I went to Sephora thinking I would try on a fragrance, walk around/shop at other stores to see if I liked the scent after a few minutes, then return to check other stuff out at the store. Unfortunately, I was on a time crunch. I showed up at the storefront and was greeted by an employee (Vito). He asked me to wait in a roped-off line for a little while (there was no one else there). I asked how long I was going to have to wait. He said "as long as it takes me to go over a few things...well, if you'd just let me finish (and with an attitude)!" I was like, whoa! How freaking rude! I turned around to leave and then (yes, I did) I asked for a manager. He said he WAS one of the managers. Wtf? Really? I told him the comment he made was super rude and unnecessary. He said, yeah, I realized it after I said it. I told him again, because he didn't seem to think anything of it. I said, look, I just want to go in, try on a scent, leave and come back in a little bit. He said, well, that's what I was trying to say. You can't try on anything (but still with an attitude). I turned around and left. It seems most of the stores at UTC are closed and/or empty of merchandise. Super sad. Yet, this store remains open with poor customer service to greet you at the door. This store is notorious for poor customer service. No wonder when this is one example of the management here. Came in looking for a foundation and it was a very uncomfortable experience. I began telling a sales associate (Lia) that I wanted something for oily skin. Before I even finished speaking, she directed me to Fenty Beauty. Not sure if this was a racially charged move but I am black and Fenty is usually for dry skin. Additionally, Lia interrupted me a second time to help out a different customer even though there were another workers available. I was sold something that was the complete opposite of what I asked for; Lia would have known this if she stopped interrupting me every time i tried to explain what I wanted. Diana helped me and was a rockstar. She knew the lines really well and recommended similar moisturizers to the first one I asked about. The staff here is really nice and I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to makeup so they showed me how to apply it before I bought it. Very helpful, especially right before a wedding I was going to. They weren't showing products in my face for me to purchase at all. Lots of samples went in my bag along with my receipt. Definitely the worst Sephora I've been to.... It is set up so weird, When you want to try something on you have to walk around the store to look for a place to. At the sephora I went to at home You basically could just look over and there'd be a mirror everywhere. I've also looked for help countless times and people are not very willing to help. I have to track people down and even got rejected multiple times, or been told "i will come back, wait right here" which I have and no ones come back. Also They are out of a lot of things that I want. I wanted to two things which I've come back multiple times to look and they're consistently out of it. It's as if they don't restock. read more

I think this is the best Sephora in SD. Yes, they get packed and busy. But for the most part, the girls that work there are super nice and helpful. I appreciate that they can make small samples of whatever product you are interested in to try out before you purchase. This is a great benefit to both parties b/c 1) less returns from customer if they hate product and 2) shows sincerity from vendor to their customers that vendor wants customers to have a good experience. They have a tonload of items to test :make up, perfumes, hair care, skin care, etc. My only gripe w/ Sephora is that they don't have email promotions like ULTA. I always get email deals from ULTA ($3.50 off $10, 20% off purchase, etc). I wish Sephora offered that at times. Regardless, sign up for their VIP email b/c they do send you reward points for purchases, birthday goodie, etc. I've never had issues return a product there. They're pretty generous about their return policy. I bought an eye shadow palette over 6 months ago and was able to return it without any issue (it was unused). I've always had a good experience at this Sephora. I don't shop here often, but when I am here, I am always asked if I need assistance finding anything by multiple people. It hasn't ever been too busy when I'm there, but then again, I usually know what I want and just grab that product. I appreciate that they will give you a sample of a product to take home (i.e. perfume) to test out before purchasing it. They don't have everything in store that is on the website, so the selection could be better in store. However, if they don't have a product in store but sell it online, they will give you a code to enter in online so that you don't have to pay for shipping. Yes, this store is smaller than the others but overall carries all the items I need. In addition to their great selection of products, I found another gem about this store: their makeup artists! My sister and I got our makeup done by Jessica and Jordann for a formal event this weekend. We were very happy with their skills! They were sweet, helpful, and really listened to what we were looking for. You can get a complimentary makeup session if you purchase $50 worth of items on the same day. Amazing color match here from Lia! I am half Asian and very hard to color match well no matter how good the mua is because things just don't look like you expect. She took the time to try out multiple shades for foundation to make sure it was the perfect match and very natural and an accompanying concealer. This is definitely a smaller Sephora location, so they don't carry a lot of brands or full lines like some of the other locations. Also, the employees seem a bit confused, as I asked one employee where I could find a product and she directed me to the back wall. Once I got there, I couldn't find the product, so I asked another employee and she told me they don't even carry that brand because this location is small.
