Unfortunately, I was in a long line for a cashier which gave me time to observe all the dirty, snotty kids fingers digging into the multiple open makeup displays. They pulled the containers off the displays and smashed them on the floor! Their mommies who must have been without their regular nannies seemed clueless on how to control them. I saw one mom hurriedly scoop up the powder off the floor and toss it back into containers! Some items were just shoved under the displays. First of all, why does the store have all these displays within grubby, dirty, snotty little fingers reach? Yuck, just a plethora of germs and dirt in this store! I cannot even imagine putting that diseased color near my face or eyes. Finally, I watched a Mom dig deep into some cleansing cream to wipe the colors off her little daughter's arms up up to her elbows. The kid then proceeded to dig in and spread her grime. Walked in to buy something and usually Sephora has amazing customer service like greeting ppl when they walk in or asking if you need help.. idk what it was at this store, but ppl working here were stuck up cause it was Scottsdale. I wore my workout clothes and just wanted to pop by to get my usual stuff.. I just wanted to come here and say that I had a really pleasant time today at Sephora and it was mostly because of a employee they have there by the name of McKenna. I had a fair amount of returns and she made it really easy on me and then she helped me out in the skincare section and made me samples and she wasn't overbearing or anything at all, just so friendly and knowledgeable! I'm an esthetician and can appreciate any lover of skincare such as myself. I got everything I wanted today and all the employees were really nice and helpful without being overbearing and I can't say that enough becuz I just can't stand when I go into an establishment and I feel like someone is constantly breathing down my neck to get me to buy certain things the whole time I'm there. I love Sephora, but their prices keep me away for long periods of time (mainly cause I'm saving up to afford to shop here again). I've been to this location a few times, but finely decided to Yelp about it today due to the fabulous customer service I received today. I originally came here to buy that super cool Ciate Caviar nail polish ($25) for my friend for her birthday. Well, then I saw the Too Faced section and thought, "hmm, I haven't been here in awhile so let's go see what they have" (side note: yes, that was a stupid idea, but I'm female and have shopping issues). Well, since its getting hot as balls outside, I wanted to look for a face primer that would help hydrate my skin and also keep my foundation on when I do decide to wear it in the summer months. Great, found one that feels silky smooth on the back of my hand, done ($30). Oh look, what's that *reaches for the Coconut Oil Body Bronzer* ($35). "Doesn't that smell delicious" says one of the employees "it smells like I'm in heaven drinking a piña colada" I reply. The super cute employee then proceeds to put a dab a bit on my arm and make it look all shimmery and bronzy. My subconscious then tells me to snap out of it and I reply, "thanks for the sample, I'll have to think about it". She states "no problem, but here, let me show you the other popular bronzer by NARS " and she proceeds to walk me over to another fab makeup brand and apply their bronzer ($45) on my other arm and it makes me look all summery and pretty (but the Too Faced smelled way better). I reluctantly say "thanks for giving me options, I'll have to think about which one I want and come back later" and start making my way to the check out counter with my two items, even though I really wanted that Too Faced bronzer. So there I am, waiting to check out with two customers in front of me abut then all of a sudden, I ended up in their perfume section being helped by another friendly and helpful employee. I tell her I wasn't sure if it was the fact that I had be drinking a lot or that the perfume a girl was wearing at the bar smelled really good and I wanted to see if they had it, it's by a Victor and Rolph. "Flowerbomb" she replies and then proceeds to spray sample of one of those paper things and also gives me a history on this perfume (it's been around for eight years). I instantly fall in love and tell her that I would love to get some, but I don't need a lot cause I don't wear perfume that much (maybe once every two weeks). She goes through all the different sizes, sprays, dab-ons, and roller ball types, and I end up getting the smallest spray size ($50). I then finally ignore the rest of the store and check out... This store has everything! Makeup, skincare, fragrance, bath/body, tools/accessories, nail polish, and even a men's section. Brands include: the Art of Shaving, Bare Escentuals, BCBG, Betsey Johnson, Bobbi Brown, Burberry, oh gosh, I'm only on the 'b's, they have almost every brand you could imagine here and the customer service is always great! Recap: I would give this place 5 stars, but the fact that three items, that could all fit in one hand, total $114, leaves me not being able to afford the extra star; I really want that Too Faced Coconut Oil Bronzer; and I blame the two customers in front of me for ultimately making me get the perfume ;) read more

This is the only Sephora location that I like to shop at, and I don't even live in AZ. The service is always great and the staff is very kind and sincere. I try to save my "need list" for when I know I will be in Scottsdale, which luckily, is fairly often. By far the best location I've ever been to it is so huge and it has everything. Parking can be a total tish so that's the only setback. I could spend hours here sampling all of their products. This is a clean, well put together store with helpful staff. Their return policy is awesome and they also offer samples as rewards for spending a certain amount. My only complaint is that I always have to wait to check out. read more

Maybe I'm spoiled to My favorite Manhattan locations but I wasn't too impressed with this one. Traditional Sephora store. The layout is typical. However , I walked in and walked over to two sales people that were chatting with each other. They continued the conversation until I had to actually interrupt them to ask my question. Not the best sales directive to follow. Needless to say they didn't know the answer to my blush question. It was a busy location. Parking isn't easy at the Quarter. I would go back for my beauty items if I were already at the Quarter for other things. Otherwise it's a hassle to get in there. read more

I like this Sephora location. The staff has always been helpful and even happily provide samples if you ask! Although Sephora does have mostly expensive makeup/ body items, sometimes it's the quality that counts. It's convenient for me to pick out a product that is usually only offered at the mall and to buy it here instead, avoiding the drive to Fashion Square. I also appreciate that they are now offering more makeup without the use of parabens. read more

Total waste of an hour & a half of my life. I don't normally shop at sephora as there is not on on my usual "flight path". But my mom sent me a gift card through Groupon. Drove 30 min out of my way to store, picked up the item I usually buy at another cosmetic store for same price, stood in line for 15 min, then they told me they could not process the gift card from my iPhone (even though it gave specific instructions that I could) and that I had to print it off. So do I waste another 1.5hrs + of my life or do I just lie to my mother and say I used it??? read more

Sephora is always one of my personal favorites (I often find myself looking for an excuse to pay them a visit, I love it so much.) On my last Sephora makeup haul, I had an exceptionally kind & helpful associate who helped me pick out a contour palette that would work best with my skin type & showed me exactly how to use it. She was funny, outgoing, & I could have shopped with her all day for makeup & beauty products if my credit card would have allowed me to. The store is typically very clean & well organized, & the staff is expedient about getting everyone through the long lines, even during the holiday season. Soooo happy to finally have a Sephora close to home. Actually, the fact it is walking distance makes it dangerous for me. It's a beautiful store with amazingly helpful staff who really know about the products. So many premium lines are comparable and they have no problem giving you a sample to try first. It's definitely one thing that makes me a regular customer. I also love their fragrance selector. It's a nifty little computer where you put in scents you like, what your activities are and what things you are drawn to, and then gives you a list a suggested scents. I have found the perfect ones for my boyfriend and I using this unbelievably accurate little device. My consultant was Tania E. at the scottsdale quarter location. She did my makeup for my wedding day! I was beyond impressed and I too am a makeup artist. She listened to all of my ideas, and my makeup was stunning and lasted all day and night! It was obvious she loved her job, she applied my makeup with such passion. I would refer her and sephora to anyone getting their makeup done for a wedding. Three members of my bridal party also got their makeup done, and my bridesmaids and I were VERY please with how they each came out. I decided to come here while on vacation since I was running low on a few products. Unfortunately I had to track people down to get any sort of assistance. No one greeted me the entire time and when when I finally did convince someone to help me, she was distracted the whole time. I was the only African American person in the store, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason why I was ignored. My first time at this location. Upon entering I was approached by a very courteous sales associate with a genuine and warm smile. It was very busy there but she made me feel at ease and welcome as she led me to all the products I needed and offered suggestions of various other scents and new sprays and her opinions of them. I walked away from her feeling valued as a customer and went to check out. The cashier was very sweet to me and offered me free products with my points that I didn't know I had, but I chose to save my points for something bigger and better :) Even tho I was so busy that day running errands with my baby, wearing my old work out clothes, the feel good vibes this store offered along with the friendly staff that seemed to understand a busy mom, I walked out of that store feeling fresh and beautiful and spending way more than I had planned. Although I live close to the Sephora at Fashion Square, I think I might just have to make the drive to the new location at the Scottsdale Quarter instead! This Sephora is brand new and they did a great job of making it spacious, organized and customer service oriented. The biggest hassle for me was finding parking at the Quarter but once I did, I browsed through Sephora with ease. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by a staffer who walked me to the area of the store I was searching for. I came to this location not only to check it out, but also before the Fashion Square one was out of some makeup I needed and they told me they wouldn't get more for another week! Luckily, this new Sephora didn't let me down! After finding the makeup I needed, I looked through the store. This is is definitely bigger than the Fashion Square location and it reminds me more of a Sephora you find in a "big city." I won't go too much more in depth because a Sephora is a Sephora, but they definitely did a good job organizing this store and I think this is just what the Scottsdale Quarter needed! read more

Horrible service! Apparently since I was not 20-something, skinny and blonde and carrying a designer handbag, I was not worthy of their time. I asked 3 different people for assistance finding something, but every one of them said they were assisting another customer. In actuality, they were all fawning over one customer who was getting a makeover at the cosmetic counter. The other individuals were chatting among themselves and even though I stood there waiting for their assistance they just simply ignored me. Instead I went to the Sephora store at Santan Village and had a totally opposite experience. Unfortunate for the Scottsdale Quarter location since I spent over $500 at San Tan. read more

Decided to stop in yesterday to purchase some more makeup. Was looking for the sample product of what I wanted to purchase and there wasn't any. So I opened what I was going to purchase anyways to make sure it was the right one and Christiana came up and told me she had the sample product on her. Which is fine but I already knew I wanted to get it. Then she followed me around which I didn't feel comfortable with...? That's not a good way to make your guests feel welcome. Long story short she wanted to damage the product I opened even though I was purchasing it ... either way Christiana was very rude and unpleasant and probably shouldn't be working at Sephora since it's staff is normally super nice. This has been my go to Sephora for as many years as they've been open at Scottsdale Quarter. I'm a Rouge, to give you an idea how much I enjoy my beauty products! I have always had amazing customer service at this location. Today, for the first time I attended their fall launch gathering that was invitation only and started at 8:30 this morning. They had coffee, water, croissants and muffins. It was wonderful shopping that early and I received first class attention as I was shopping for new shampoo/conditioner and body lotion. Don't get me wrong, I love Sephora! HOWEVER! This location really needs to invest in better lighting. EVERY SINGLE TIME I get color matched, it looks great in the store. But in natural lighting, I always end up looking like an Oompa Loompa. I get that this location is at the Scottsdale Quarter and that it is upscale however because of that customer service should be superior. Every time I walk in there I can never get someone to help me and when I do they roll their eyes and sigh like it is a big deal. Then they can't even help because I end up having to find my own stuff. Sephora as a whole, I would rate 4-5 stars. But I can only give a 2 because of the horrible customer service. Very fake "friendly-ness" by the employees. Every other employee seems to give you a dirty look like you are stealing. They act stuck up or better then thou attitude. It makes it very uncomfortable even looking around. Sadly, shopping in store is obviously much easier then ordering online, but I'll stick to online ordering so I don't have to deal with the bad customer service. Please fix it! read more
