I love the new Sephora location in the mall. It can get quite busy, but there are people around to help when you have questions or need a quick tutorial. I like all the different options and the ability to try out the makeup before you buy it. I also really like getting little samples of perfume so I can see how they wear on my skin for a full day before I buy a new fragrance. My favorite part of this location is their ability to fit you in for a small service (ex: eye makeup) or for a full makeover if you make a reservation for one. It's pretty amazing that you can get a full face done with a purchase of $50! read more

2 stars because I love Sephora in general however, I don't appreciate being followed around by the manager and staff. My money is green and I've been rouge for the past 3 or 4 years. One of those you can't tell but to directly or, as I'm assuming will be stated, indirectly follow me and those in my party around as we're trying make up like every other person is beyond me. I hate to assume the worst but since I saw the manager in every aisle I visited it's hard not too. This Sephora and their petty staff can miss me in the future. This is by far my favorite location in Arizona. They can get quite busy but the wait is worth it. The store's layout has a smooth flow to it, they are always clean, and *for the most part* are stocked. If you need help finding something or a new recommendation the staff is always super helpful in going above and beyond in finding exactly what you need. The ladies working were so sweet, all their makeup was gorgeous and I had my 2 babies w me and I swear every one of them started sweet conversation w me and my one year old daughter. After receiving a confirmation email that I had made the list to attend the Yelp Elite Event "Dia de Los Muertos" to be held at Barrio Queen, I contemplated on getting a Sugarskull makeover, but where would I go for something like this? I asked a coworker who did body painting and received a quote from her, but there was a question of whether the products she used would be safe for me to try, so I put the thought away. The next day, I remembered that mall department stores offered makeovers all the time, and then I thought of Sephora's makeover stations that I never tried. What a perfect time to do so, I thought, so I made the call. The woman on the phone asked if I had photos of the look I wanted, and I said I'd bring some, and I asked for a time estimate. She said an hour. I made an appointment for 4:30p, but as it turned out, I arrived early and was introduced to Amber, who was to be my custom makeup artist. Amber was very amiable, conversational, and excited to do something out-of-the-ordinary, which made the whole process of getting a makeover very fun! I have sensitive skin, as well as food and environmental allergies that keep me from using foundation and many products, so I was nervous about the possibility of negative reactions to any of the products we were going to try, but the only problem I encountered was a mild itch on my nose- not enough for me to want to run to the nearest sink and wash off all the products! The whole process took about two hours**, and Amber answered all of my questions throughout. I received many compliments at the Dia de los muertos party I attended, despite the fact that attendees could receive COMPLIMENTARY makeup from an artist present at the party. (I was even approached by a mother with a young girl at the end of the event who wanted photographs taken with me!) At least I knew that I was using quality products designed for surgical patients through Amber and Sephora! (Not to say that the artist there wasn't using quality products, but with party time constraints, I wouldn't have been able to ask her all I needed to know to avoid skin reactions. All that had their makeup done with her looked terrific!) I would like to schedule more makeovers at Sephora so that I may learn how to achieve certain looks, as well as try out new products, and I will ask for Amber again, or someone she recommends I try. *Please note that there is a $50 minimum purchase associated with a custom makeover. **Amber went above and beyond her duties as a Sephora makeup artist when she assisted in applying tattoo decals I had purchased elsewhere, as well as allowed me to pay for products there at the CM station, rather than have me wait to pay at the cashier. This is the very first time I have ever been in here.This location anyway, the first one was in downtown Seattle. Yes, I came with my girlfriend. Both times,but it is a cool place for men as well. Samples of colonge, creams ,lotions and anything else you have ever wanted to try. They will even give you samples of things to take home. They will make you a sample of anything you would like to try. It can be challange to get inside the Scottsdale Mall at times. But, on this day it was not too bad,(during the week) and early in the day. It is a cool place,with lots to see and try. Loads of people wanting to help you as well. read more

Having been a fan of the Sephora chain for a long time, I have found that I often preferred the store at Scottsdale Fashion Square (and the one in Las Vegas on the Strip) the most. They are all, including this location, very focused on customer service. I was asked at least once by each person working the floor if I needed any assistance. To the point where I was wondering if I didn't look out of place or suspicious to them. I have found that even this store is prone to looking a little thrashed. This store used to maintain itself better than most others I had been into. On my last visit here samples and palates are tattered, broken, empty or missing. They don't look like anything I would want to try for fear of catching something. I saw more than one lady using the actual testers for lipstick and mascara instead of getting the disposable swabs and brushes to try out the samples. Blegh....talk about cross contamination and risks for infections.... GHETTO! Plus at the "stations" where you can get disposable swabs , brushes and Kleenex some of the containers were empty.... Maybe I will just stick to ordering from their online catalog and forget fighting the crowds to get in here. Plus I get sooo many really great samples ordering online anyway! read more

I have to. I have to write about my love for Sephora. Sephora is the adult equivalent to FAO Swartz for makeup. The second I walk inside, I feel giddy, my wallet feels too empty, I find my perfume and makeup wardrobe at home to be too dull and too dreary and I float through the store with a permanent smile on my face. As most ladies know, Sephora is full of perfume, bathing supplies and cosmetics galore. No matter the brand, the skin type, the quality or the budget you can find something right for you at Sephora. The staff is friendly and helpful without being too pushy. Pushy makeup artists are the worst. You can test, sample and spray to your heart's desire. They have the Sephora brand with amazing deals on lipstick, eye shadow, brushes and more. During the holidays and throughout the year, various specials line the counter tops. The rewards program allows you to justify why you spent so much because you could walk away with a brand new philosophy primer, smash-box kit or some clinique products. I've been shopping and browsing Sephora for years and the Fashion Square location couldn't be more perfect and fatal to my wallet all at the same time. Sometimes I walk through the store on the way to my car. Bad move Lindsey because when did I ever think I could just walk through Sephora without making an itty bitty purchase. Lancome, Lorac, Narz, Clinique and Dior -- just to name a few of the products available at Sephora. Any perfume imaginable is available here. Lipsticks, glosses, nail polish, tanner, powder, shampoo, lotion...I could go on for days. So next time a yelper asks where they should go for some makeup, send them in the direction of Sephora. Sephora is like crack for me. I went in here last weekend for the first time, and I came out thinking how the hell did I survive without this glorious land of sparkly makeup and excessive purfume? Screw you Ulta and Target, Sephora stole my little vain heart. Love the products. Sephora brand guava body butter is probably my favorite thing ever. I hate lotion because it's super greasy, and I've tried other body-mosturizers, but this stuff just takes the cake. It smells great and leaves my skin quenched but not gross. Love their birthday presents and $15 off X-mas coupons. Don't love going into the store. I feel awkward, and the sales associates (especially the men) ignore me. Normally I'd like that, but I'm a noob when it comes to beauty and skincare products. In my mind it's because I look like a scrub compared to the other shoppers, but if I'm taking the time to find parking at Fashion Square to go to Sephora, I'm going to buy something! Despite my puny number of check-ins here, I frequent this Sephora a lot! There are a lot of reasons why I keep coming back. First and foremost, I never feel like I'm being judged. As a social worker, I'm often on a budget. A very strict budget. So I usually hoard money and wait until all of my products run out, then go make a mass purchase. This means I often walk in without my "face". Even with acne, unadorned eyes, and blotchy skin, I'm still treated like I'm the most beautiful woman they've seen. This being said, my second point I'll make is that they never beat around the bush. I love it when people are blunt and direct with me, and I usually get it here. I ask them a specific question, and they give me options and recommendations. This is greatly appreciated, as half the time I have no idea what to look for. I'm girly, but I definitely don't know all the "girl world secrets" every other girl in Scottsdale seems to know. I'm so out of touch with the barbies that inhabit this town. Also, I have a lot of allergies (food, skin, medications, you name it). I'm allergic to fragrance, which really inhibits me in the makeup department. Did you know mascara has fragrance in it? I didn't. There's literally one mascara on the market that advertises being fragrance-free..and they sell it here! I had a problem with my eyelashes falling out. After describing my situation, one of the very knowledgeable workers informed me that all mascara has this pesky ingredient. All-in-all, the staff are friendly, the store is clean, and they have options for my allergy-ridden body. Sephora for the win! read more

Percy was so helpful and knowledgeable, and he made me feel really comfortable. He made my experience really fun and stress-free. This Sephora location is my favorite. It has a convient location right next to the food court in the Scottsdale Fashion mall. Also, it has an entrance from outside so you don't have to make your way around that huge mall to find it. The employees are extremely helpful. They also have many professional makeup artist available to help you. I use "Makeup Forever" products and I had a very nice young woman color match me with no problem. It's always good to have employees who at least appear to be happy and know what they're talking about. Anyways, love this Sephora! I needed some makeup that would still make me look good at a pool party. Water and the Arizona heat isn't great as we all know, for makeup. Virginia was working the floor and helped me right away. I have some skin issues and she tried several brands until we found the perfect match. She was so lovely to not give up on me. Her and her coworkers really work well together. They were all helping other customers while also bringing in a fun vibe together and with us. It was like I was at a girlfriend retreat. Super fun and loved the service. Thanks for having people like Virginia as an employee. I also had the privilege of having her be an instructor with a great group of other people for a make up class. I like the store itself and the wide array of products and knowledge so I decided to do the full make-up with a $50.00 product purchase. I usually go to MAC for this but wanted to try something different and Sephora sells many products I could try. My three-star review is based on the make-up application I received with the $50.00 product purchase. The make-up deserves a 2-star review at best. I asked Sephora how well trained their staff is in application and they assured me the make-up artists receive "extensive" training. I don't know what that means, but based on my application, extensive probably means, watching hours of YouTube videos. I had an event to got to several weeks back and although my makeup artist was quite nice, she did a poor job on my make up. She did my eyebrows first without any foundation on my face and I could immediately tell by the way her hand was moving to draw the line that it wasn't going to be good. The line she drew alone my brow line was very thick and the color was inconsistent. It looked like as if she had a shaky hand while drawing it. After my eyebrows, she then applied eyeshadow, eyeliner, etc... It looked okay but not well-blended. She then applied my lashes, which actually weren't glued on all the way on one corner of my eyelid. After the eye make-up she applied foundation and some concealer. She did not apply any powder as she said the foundation she used sets itself -- um okay. I told her I liked full-coverage, but my makeup job looked medium at best. After she was finished she did my lips which was the best applied make-up she did. When I got home, I noticed my foundation was not blended around my eye area and there was actually areas where there was no foundation whatsoever. After this experience, I will never go to Sephora again for make-up with a product purchase. MAC make-up artists are by far superior to Sephora so I will continue to got to MAC for the $50.00 product purchase + make-up. read more

On top of that I lost my wallet and they were not very good at helping me. Like they want to help me buy things but the can't help me when I lost something thing. I prefer this Sephora over the chandler fashion location any day! The selection is so much better and everything I have ever came into buy is always in stock. This location carries luxury brands like Natasha Denona, Pat McGrath & Charlotte Tilbury whereas other locations do not. I recently went to get my foundation matched and instead of taking the time to look for a few foundations and match them to my skin she gave me the most orange color you had in the foundation that I was looking for and tried to convince me that it matched my skin tone when I don't even have a warm undertone. read more

I visited Arizona back in November last year. I live in Southern California so I usually deal with snobby/ rude associates at the Sephoras and Ultas in my area (not always but many many many times I have). I know I'm late with this review but the service I had at this Sephora was phenomenal. Im sure I left a review like this using the receipt/ scan code I got but I have to leave another because that's how amazing my experience was. I believe the associate who helped me almost my whole visit was Diana (long dark hair and very sweet- she called me "my love" which I thought was endearing and so adorable). I was looking for a new foundation and she was extremely patient and kind. She recommended several products in my price range for my skin type and helped color match me. She also helped me look for other products I was interested in or at least led me to the expert associate. She 10000% did her job perfectly and I'm extremely grateful to have been helped by her. I finished my foundation completely and am ready to buy another bottle because it's so good! (YSL brand for anyone willing to pay ~$50 for a medium- buildable coverage for skin on the drier side) It might also be worth mentioning that I went with a good friend of mine to the store who previously worked at several Sephora's in SoCal so she knows their policy on customer service and she knows makeup more than anyone else I know, and she also agreed with me that Diana was amazing and we were in awe of how awesome the foundation worked out for me. The staff there in general was fantastic, several associates who helped me besides Diana were also lovely. I can't remember anyone else's names but there was an African American lady with curly hair who helped me with eyebrow products who was super helpful and kind! Other Sephora stores take note!! Sephora is my go-to spot when I need my mascara, Christian Dior's Diorshow, and anything by Bumble & Bumble. I get most of my make-up, skincare items, and perfume from Ulta due to their rewards program, 20% off coupons, better prices, and various sales. Sephora has a Beauty Insider rewards program but it doesn't do as much for the shopper as far as deals, saving money, etc. It's a good store, but I'd have to put it behind Ulta for the aforementioned reasons. read more

Sephora=Euphoria! Why go to a department store for name brand cosmetics and skin care when you can go to Sephora! They have every brand you are looking for and a lot of brands that are hard to find at department stores such as an extensive selection of Philosophy. It's a fun laid back environment with make over sections everywhere so you can test the makeup before you buy it. They also have the walls of perfume for both men and women..which to my knowledge is the most perfumes I have seen in my life! The Sephora brand itself has great deals on makeup and tons of gadgets...literally another wall with at least fifteen kinds of powder brushes. I don't always NEED something from Sephora, but when I'm in Fashion Square I NEED to go in. That's when the five minute glam makeover happens! A squirt of Burrberry Brit perfume, a dab of lip venom, and whatever else strikes me and I am a new woman! Perfect pick me up if you are going somewhere after the mall! read more

Honestly, this place still scares me. There are so many products I don't know where to start. I enter a Sephora whenever I am @ the mall reluctantly in order to get comfortable with the layout and product. Kind of like the new kid in school. This is Sephora store is one of my favorites!!! I got my make up done there for my engagement photoshoot, they did an amazing job! I recently went in for the Perk hydrating facial after receiving an email. The service is free with a $75 purchase. I had my service with Adrianna. She was so knowledgeable about skin care and explained each step of the facial as she was doing it. I got introduced to so many new products that I loved. I love shopping at Sephora because they are very friendly and knowledgeable about most of their products. I find most items are usually in stock and if they don't have it they will order it online and have it shipped to you. The return policy is also great, if you are not satisfied with a product they accept it back after it's been used. read more

Let me start by saying that i am a die hard MAC fan... only ever used MAC and am a total snob about it! BUT now that i have basically every shade of their lipgloss and lipstick- i thought it was time to venture out of my little box. I got a MUA named Julian and he was AhhhhhMazzzinngggg! We spent about an hour just playing with different makeup and he created a whole new look for me PLUS we made it budget friendly which was an added bonus! I don't normally write reviews, but I felt the need to today. This morning, I attended the Fenty makeup class before the store opened. The class and the coaches were PHENOMENAL!!!! They were all so informative, Alex is my girl who helped me out so props to her, Maria was a fantastic teacher, and Abby was asking all the right questions to kind of get us out of our shells. So, why the 3 stars? During the class, it was mentioned that if you spend a certain amount or more, you can have a super extreme facial done with a machine (I can't remember the correct name of it-sorry). After the class, my friend helped me pick out some much needed skin care and when I went to checkout, I spent the needed amount in order to get the facial. I was excited to say the least. I went over and asked one of the reps and she said that there is only one machine and there is an appointment, but you can come in later. "So, can she schedule an appointment for another day"?, my friend asked. No, it has to be today and the only time we have available is around 1pm. I had plans and couldn't make it to that time. Sorry, you can try back later, or spend the allotted amount again in the future. Sephora- I don't have a ton of money to spend on face products, and when I do it's a big deal for me. If someone is going to spend a certain amount in order to get a service from you, then why not just have the person show you the receipt as proof that the amount was spent in store, and schedule an appointment for another day? My friend spends a lot of time at the store, knows many of the reps, had been to every single class, and has even helped upsell products to other customers in store. It's been a minute since I've shopped at Sephora simply because I've been doing a lot of my shopping online. I decided to try and find a new longer lasting foundation, and KIM was fantastic help! Not to mention, they have a new (well, new to me) Skin Graphing tool that eliminates guessing ! Kim was very thorough in figuring out my needs and asked all the right questions, she also educated me on what the Sephora App offers nowadays and I'm stoked. Decided that as a 23 year old female it was time to finally invest in makeup and possibly some lessons. Was very excited to learn that they offer free 15 minute lessons on whatever you're interested in learning! So I asked to learn how to do natural eye makeup. Should have known right away that the girls at this store were the wrong people to ask. Almost all of these girls look like clowns with all their makeup! Heavy eye liner, insane contour lines and the most intense lipsticks I've ever seen. The girl helping me gave some good advice when it came to the eye shadow- only I would use a LOT less, still I got the idea. It was the eye liner that went downhill, she probably covered at LEAST a third of my lid with the darkest heaviest eye liner. I was so embarrassed when I left the store because of how heavy the makeup was. However, in the end after talking to several girls on their opinions for shadow, lipstick and liner I managed to leave with decent products. But I did end up having to learn how to apply the makeup from YouTube tutorials. read more
