I also come to the ulta salon whenever I need a haircut! This past visit today I saw Gabriela and she did a wonderful job of making sure I got exactly what I wanted for my haircut! This is a fully stocked beauty store with many brand name makers. Items are clearly marked by brand name. For me it's a bit overwhelming to go in here. I was looking for lip liner and got distracted by all the other competitors. They also have a hair salon in the back. It was interesting to look anyway. Large shared parking lot and WiFi. read more

Don't get me wrong. I love the location because of all the products and how many items they have, and they do carry more high-end stuff than some of the other locations, however, I came to purchase a hairdryer, and I believe that I may have been sold a returned one now, looking back at the pictures and videos I had of the hairdryer I had before I exchanged show me now that this is a older model or something? I also noticed that when I was using the hairdryer before it powered off on its own, it was burning to the touch, and there were also gray spots on it, which I saw in some reviews on the item, can happen over time, so I was confused on why it was on my brand new one, but then the hairdryer didn't even work for 45 seconds, before it would turn off on its own, I went in the next day to go exchange it for a new one because I was confused why my new hairdryer was not working, and I went into the store and got a new box to exchange for the one I had, and I noticed that the box on the shelf that I grabbed was sealed in plastic, but the box I received when I picked up my mobile order the day before was not sealed, so I asked the ladies as well if they unsealed the package for mobile order pick ups because my box was not sealed yesterday, and they told me it could have been a tester that they sold me now why would you sell me a tester? And I will say there I understand it was right when they opened, but I walked through the door, and I didn't need to, but I apologize because the worker was holding the door for me, and I was quite far away, and she just did not look pleasant or happy, didn't smile or say welcome in or anything, I just feel a little sad and disappointed, but at the same time, I will say that this is not my favorite location if you were looking for kind people, I absolutely love the Ulta in Scottsdale in the pavilions on talking stick, those ladies are so nice and so sweet!! In the pictures, you'll see the first one that is plugged in was the hairdryer I bought, and the second photo is the one that I exchanged, and I just noticed that the power plugs were different, and then I will put a video of the hairdryer of how it worked. read more

I had a traumatizing experience with Griselda at this location. I honestly question her credentials because she lacks the most basic knowledge taught in cosmetology school. I asked for a standard trim and face frame on my very long hair. Not only did she damage my hair by using clippers randomly during a consultation and failing to rinse out conditioner, but the cut itself is unfixable without losing major length. She blunt cut the front pieces unevenly and refused to blend them. When I pointed out the issues, she became defensive and aggressive. Ulta needs to look into this immediately. I walked in with long, healthy hair and walked out having to go to another salon to fix a disaster. Avoid Griselda at all costs. read more

From the cleanliness and organization of the store to the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, I was beyond impressed. As an older woman with obvious difficulties, I was afraid of getting eye rolling, attitude, or worst of all...ignored. My lifetime cosmetics company (Prescriptives) had closed its doors and I finally came to the end of my hoarded extra bottles of foundation. My attempts to color match with the criteria and personal recipe of undertones and shades was just not working. It was getting expensive in both money and stamina I needed to physically get driven to a make up brick and mortar store. Did not fare well the first time when the nice sales assistant showed me colors on her own hand, much lighter than mine. This time went to another branch. I really felt old and stupid (hubby waiting in car) as the world has changed a lot in the 10 years I've been mostly housebound. Diane at the register wasted no time smiling and calling out to me so she could help. When she learned what I needed, paired me with Tamela, who gently smiled and took her time taking me under her wing. I shockingly realized the reason my lifelong color formula wasn't working was because the medication I'd been on for years had caused changes giving me different undertones! I ended up with a perfect match! And so kind, Tamela made sure I had a seat the whole time. I left feeling very cared for with a new confidence. If you want to go somewhere and be ignored for 10 min and have to actively find someone to help you with a hair apt. Imagine driving an hour to get your hair done - the booking on line full blonde (I'm already blonde btw I just wanted lighter) $150 I get there. I'm told they don't have time the quote is for ONE INCH OF HAIR and my new quote is $415 My husband booked this for me and the stylist called him dumb. Not that impressive, I picked up a couple packet face masks for $3.50 but when I got to the register they were $10.00 !! That's a big difference. The girl said oh, they are marked for another product but we are out of those and shrugged ‍. No offer to honor the prices on the shelf, Just a shrug from a girl who clearly doesn't care that over charging is a big deal. I ended up just taking it off the bill. I mentioned that she should tell a manager to update the tags and I was told, oh ya, they know! I can't be the only one who thinks, that's not okay!?! Very misleading and if I didn't catch it I would have been way overcharged!! Does this feel like a rip-off yet?? Make sure you check the prices at the register. They seem to be aware items are not priced correctly but have not corrected them. Ohh and When I asked for the manger, all the floor girls heard about it over the radio and circled like sharks for the drama!! I swear I didn't see one of the girls while I was shopping. I normally wouldn't write a review for a beauty product store, but I had such bad experience here today that I feel the need to warn others to avoid this store, unless you enjoy incredibly rude sales associates. I have shopped at Ulta, Sephora and similar stores for over 20 years and have never had an experience like this before. I was there to stock up on products and at checkout one of the products didn't have a bar code. The sales associate said it was a tester, but it was clear it wasn't - it was still completely factory sealed and I had found it sitting on the shelf where that product belongs. I told her it was the last one, but she walked away without saying a word to find another one to scan and was gone for 5 minutes. The other sales associate working at the next register over offered zero help when I asked if they could just add it manually to ring it up. She comes back and says, there's no barcode so you can't buy it....I asked again if they could look it up in the system, and instead of apologizing or acknowledging me, she calls over a manager who takes it and is gone for a full 10 MINUTES. I was just standing there waiting with zero updates, zero apology for what clearly was a stocking error on their behalf, and then the manager comes back with the wrong product and says "this is the full size"...she brought me a foundation when I was trying to buy a concealer. They were completely different products. I asked if they could just order it online and have it shipped to my house for free and they completely ignored me. Like what, I'm sorry, I'm trying to give you money in exchange for your merchandise, is that not what you are supposed to do?! Not one apology for the inconvenience, the amount of time I had to stand waiting at the checkout, along with zero willingness to try and solve the problem. I left without the perfectly good sealed product because it didn't have a bar code. A message to management - you clearly need to do better with your customer service training unless you want to keep losing customers. To fellow shoppers - save yourself a huge headache and just shop at Sephora online! The rewards and shipping policies are better anyway. Congrats to this Ulta store, you lost a customer. read more

Stopped by this location to pick up a few items after I was finished with a few other stores. Had my 1 & 3 year old in a Nordstrom cart and upon entry I was approached by an employee and informed I could not bring my cart in because the aisles were "too small". That got me wondering, are you ADA compliant? How then can you allow people with strollers in as well? I mean I hate to sound like a "Karen" here, but am I just supposed to let my 1 & 3 year old run wild and break your merchandise? I don't always have a babysitter to watch my children while I hit up ulta. I usually spend around $100 each trip here, I know your business is not suffering for money but it's your loss if you turn down everyone with a shopping cart. I can understand if it's a policy not allowing other stores carts. But, with that being said, provide carts. I won't be back to this location. I stopped in for a large haul of sunscreen, beauty products, and hair products. The staff on the floor were helpful. When I got to the cash register, I waited over 15 minutes (there were two people ahead of me). There was one person at the register helping with a difficult return and purchase. The floor was well staffed and the person at the register did not ask anyone for help nor did anyone offer. When it was finally my turn (a second person came after about 10 minutes waiting), he seemed annoyed and rushed. He wasn't friendly at all and I was annoyed after waiting all of that time to be greeted in that way. I spent a decent amount of money and will spend my money at another store moving forward. read more

I used to keep my hair flat-ironed straight... And then I was introduced to PHX summers. Workout + 120 degree weather = mangled mane. I needed something to control my ultra tight curls, and keep them from turning into a chia-pet afro. A stylist recommended DevaCurl (great product!), and so far I've only been able to find it at Ulta. Sometimes the store is out of an item (the horror!) in the line, and they don't offer a solution (such as when more will be in, or anything). The DevaCurl brand is considered a prestige brand, which I've discovered means expensive + stingy. A 6 oz bottle of Set it Free is $20 (rounding up from $19.95 before tax), and a 3 oz bottle of anything in the line is $9. Those coupons I get via email & U.S. mail? Nope. Cannot use them on prestige brands. An employee told me that this is a company decision (not Ulta, but the individual brands). But, the bucks that you earn from Ulta (after spending $100+) may be used towards prestige brands. Alas, I know of no where else to purchase this product, and the chia-pet life is not for me, so I'll keep coming to Ulta. read more

AWFUL experiences at this location and I mean awful !! I saw a woman walk out after being approached far , far too many times asking if she needed any help and the woman finally said ' this is too much ' and left her to be purchase there too !!! We as woman walk into these stores to look at makeup and if we need any help we will ask you! Nobody and I mean nobody wants to be harassed and bugged !!!! I got asked 6 times in this one visit if I am still doing ok and if I need anything!! And Then after being annoyed and not seeing a trash for my wipes I just used to wipe my hands I set them on a shelf and that is when the dark haired girl with ripped black jeans and braces ,,. I think she had braces,, said to me we have garbage cans all over for that and that is when I said well u can throw it away and she said that's not my job and I preceded to tell her how they ask us if we need help every five minutes or so and a woman just walked out five minutes ago because of it , she said that is my job !!! I asked her name and she replied with a smile I don't have to give you my name. She was being very much a smart Alec and she then follows me up to the line I standing in to pay for all my items and gets in my face as I am in line and purposely to annoy me says you sure I can't help u find something with a big smirk on her face !!! And then she said to her microphone the lady is in line now. Like I am in trouble !! Lol. I walked up to the so called supervisor at front and she acted just like the girl I just encountered and smiled and said oh she is just doing her job. And this manager with glasses up front should certainly NOT be a manager should NOT be a manager I SAY. I could tell she was mad and tried hard to not go off. The two must be good buds. I left my $ 175.00 dollars worth of makeup behind that I took over an hour and a half to pick out. They just lost two large sales from one worker in five minutes Time , the other lady and myself. I spend hundreds a year at Ulta and Sephora but from here out Sephora' gets my money now. I will never go back to Ulta if they want these type of workers in their stores harassing the customers cuz they are bored and have nothing better to do. I said well I guess this is 2022 and anything goes. Sad but true. AVOID THIS ULTA at all costs. Unless you like to be harassed and treated poorly.!! This was at your Scottsdale location just yesterday about 4 pm. I was harassed in line even as I went to pay. I understand you all have the workers continually ask a customer if they need any help but women do not like to be bugged and have people hovering over them and basically it is Harrassing. Had a pre-birthday salon session and beauty products purchase. Associates, hairdresser, and brow tech were all fantastic but once I was at the register, the woman was having a terrible day. She rolled her eyes when I asked about the coupon I was showing her, stoped two feet back as I looked for the correct coupon on the app and overheard her stating to her manger that she "needed to get over it." Her manager told her the same thing. She returned to the counter to complete my purchase and was still rude. Combined total over $450 and you'd think a customer having done nothing to her would at least warrant a better attitude. I paid, got in my car only to realize she used the incorrect coupon in her hast to continue to have a terrible day. I'll stick to Sephora moving forward. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My mother purchased a curling iron ($30) with a gift card, got home realized it was the wrong size. She went to return it only to find she didn't have the receipt. She told them she was alright with in store credit, as she would just buy the correct size when they had it in stock. The gal at check out said that without a receipt or phone number (she didn't given one because she didn't want them calling her), the most they could give her back in credit was $7.95. What a joke! They obviously don't understand the elder generation not waiting to give out their phone number. She is beyond frustrated & I am certainly not going to be spending any of my money there. Why are most of the employees at this location jerks? They don't want to help you in anyway. One passes you off to another and then they pass you off to someone else. The associate that spoke to me (I won't say helped cause she did nothing!) didn't seem to care about why I was there and that I had to return to the store cause I was sold a defective curling iron, this was her opportunity to make a larger sale and she did NOTHING when I mentioned that I would go somewhere else. This is also the third or fourth time I was treated rudely in this location. Do better Ulta and train your employees for some customer service. Remember their are many other places we can shop for makeup & hair products, you aren't the only one. Don't let THIS location be the demise of Ulta. Store was spaced out very nicely. They have removed some of the extra stuff that crowd of the Isles in order to maintain safe distancing. Every single person on the store staff had a mascon and they offered free masks and hand sanitizer when you walked in the door. I was looking for an item and it had been moved to accommodate special Christmas displays and the staff showed it to me immediately. I also had a pick up order at the same time and that one smooth as silk. This is a great Ulta beauty store. read more

If I had to base the star rating on the way sales are advertised it would be a 3 star. There's always a issue with signage in the store and the item it correlates to. But as for the staff, they are always friendly, and accommodating. I was checking out at register with a clerk named Marisa. I had recently opened a credit card and asked her about my points. She said I did not have any and rang me up. I showed her my app with points on it and she then laughed at me and told me I should of communicated that with her. She got on her phone and I had to ask her to re-ring sale with points. John is incredible. Yesterday I went for a haircut with a different stylist but I wasn't 100% satisfied once I got home and got a good look. I returned and John was able to give me exactly what I wanted. I definitely recommend ulta. Sometimes certain haircuts are a bit more challenging to do but they will work with you. I definitely recommend John. I have very thick course hair so it can be challenging at times. read more
