The right thing to do would be to say you need a regular plumber if you couldn't do what I needed. Not charge me almost 1000 dollars to not fix the problem I wanted addressed. Back in July, my house was in the final days of escrow, and we needed to have the septic emptied and inspected. All went fine until the gentleman performed the flow test, which failed. The gentleman (I wish I could remember his name) was professional and reran the test to show me that there was a problem, which he described as a "failing system". He then explained that in West Sacramento we may not be able to have the field repaired, and may, worst case scenario, be required to install an above ground septic tank. This would have made the property unsellable. For a very long week, until we could get a plumber out to take a look, we were STRESSED about our house sale falling through. The plumber scoped the system, and found that the distribution box old and required replacement. The repair was $1500, and was completed in a couple hours. Two days later, escrow closed, and the home sold. For the work that was done, I would give 5 stars, all day long. The gentleman was a little late, but he called to tell us he was delayed. He was personable, and cheerfully performed what most people would describe as terrible work and he gave us good service. My three star review is a reflection of the terrible week we spent afterwards. Had he simply reported the findings and recommended we get an estimate for repairs, we would have been much happier customers.
