I am very disappointed and embarrassed about the way I was belittled and treated by Michael at the screening room. (He was an older caucasian male wearing a black mask) Michael made me and a lot of the other press feel like animals. I had just wrapped up an interview and he rushed me and raised his voice telling me to get out of the building or garage to pack my gear. HE FOLLOWED ME TO THE ELEVATOR. I've been press for the last 20 years, have come to this screening room many times in the past and have never felt more embarrassed in my life. SSR your screening rooms are beautiful but with Michael's attitude and lack of people skills this could heavily affect your chances of getting more talents to come by for screenings and press junkets. Please speak to Michael and provide him with the proper training to deal with human beings even in stressful situations. read more

Came here to watch a screening of Nosferatu and we liked the theater. There's underground garage parking that can be validated or plenty of metered street/residential parking. You need a giant key to use the restrooms but there are multiple restrooms available. They added some plastic chairs in our screening to make space but the normal chairs were otherwise spacious and did recline. No food or drink was allowed in the room. The sound system was great and it's a convenient spot for screenings if you're looking to get some yummy food at Sawtelle afterwards. read more

Theater and company were both excellent. We worked with Michael and Joe from Screening Services Group. Michael was always available for phone calls when we had questions. Joe, the projection engineer, was very helpful setting up our film for the projector, allowing us to adjust sound and visuals as needed until it was to our liking. The theater was clean, seats were comfortable - all around very professional setup. As a small production company screening our second short film, we couldn't have asked for a better group. Screened a block of short films for some friends and family, and we all had an amazing time! The theater is legit, and it was impressive to see our films on the big screen. The video and audio quality were top notch, and you can see why major studios and production companies use this theater to screen their films. Everyone was always available via email to answer all my questions. Only bit of advice is to be aware that they're very strict with their times, so make sure to follow all the rules. It's to be expected because this is a professional operation, but just a heads up. Would definitely book them again! read more

The Sepulveda Screening Room is a small private theater not open to the public. Seating only 65, it is only open by invitation, mostly to the film industry. Located on the east side of Sepulveda a half block north of Santa Monica Blvd, there is underground parking which is expensive if not validated. There is a slight incline, but there is no stadium seating so make sure you don't sit behind somebody tall! read more

Clean, comfortable and good sound system. It seats about 70 (after adding a few chairs). Watched Den of Thieves here and highly recommend this suspenseful, clever and entertaining movie! Sepulveda Screening Room - Parking info - Cinema Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Arrived 6:30pm last night to set up for a 7:30 screening. Per usual at other screenings here, my check-in staff started assembling our org's banner in foyer. Brian the security guard told them they couldn't. I tried to ask why and explain this was contrary to many other events we'd hosted there. The conversation quickly escalated to Brian raising his voice at me and saying/shouting: "Do you work here? DO YOU WORK HERE? Well, I work here - and what I'm telling you is that you can't put your banner there". If I hadn't stopped trying to 'reason' with him, I'm quite sure things would've got ugly. He then told us that: - We couldn't congregate in the foyer. - Guests would have to wait outside until we were ready to check them in (projectionist nowhere to be seen - screening room locked). We had to ask our early arrivals to go outside until the projectionist arrived. When he finally turned up around 7pm, I asked where he'd been as we'd been waiting to set up..."grabbing a bite". He then told us we couldn't put the banner by the screening room entrance, leave any bags in the corridor or keep the toilet doors open (which we did at a May screening). Where exactly we where supposed to put everything while waiting for him to show, I do not know. Meanwhile, Brian was barking at guests as they emerged from the elevator, telling them not to congregate in the foyer, etc. I mentioned this to the projectionist. He texted the property manager. Apparently a resident in the building had complained about 'noise in the foyer'. A bizarre claim, given the only person with a raised voice that I know of was their own aggressive security guard. For the sake of the screening we acquiesced to their barrage of hitherto unenforced rules, but in the 100+ events I've managed for my organization (I happen to be the COO) it's the most uncooperative and hostile environment I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. A stark contrast to how easy to work with they were previously. NB: The T&C's of SSC's rental agreement include this clause: 4. No walkways or exits may be blocked in any way. Nothing may be stored or staged in the lobby or hallway of the building. Everything must go directly into the screening room from the garage or outside the building. BUT - we've hosted MANY other screenings @SSR where this rule was obviously waived/bended. Banner was in the foyer/outside screening room, attendees/panelists were relaxing on foyer chairs, the projectionist was there early and the environment was relaxed. The other glaring flaw with this rule as applied to last night is that WE WERE WAITING FOR 30 MINUTES TO ACCESS THE SCREENING ROOM. We had no way of going 'directly into the screening room from the garage or outside the building'. Needless to say, unless they apologize and provide assurance that our members will never again be treated in such a manner, we will not be using Sepulveda Screening Room again. There are many other FYC venues in LA that don't come with draconian, inconsistently applied rules and a self-important, pugnacious security guard to enforce them. read more

The screening room is nice. The sound system is nice. The bathrooms are nice. The stairway outside the screening room is nice. The seats are comfortable. However, hosting a screening here was a very unpleasant experience for me and my associates. We had a limited budget and this room seemed to fit our needs and the size of our expected audience. But it seemed like I was constantly warned that doing minor things would add hundreds of dollars to our spend. And since we had prepaid and the booking was not refundable, we could not back out before the event and pick a different venue with a higher initial price tag but with more reasonable policies. At this moment (I am watching my credit card to see if any additional charges appear) we have been charged an additional $208 for our screening. Why? Because we screened our film from a Blu-Ray disk and the venue charges $100 per hour extra to screen from a Blu-Ray. Never mind the fact that their Blu-Ray player is already connected seemingly permanently to their projector and that one could currently purchase TWO brand new Blu-Ray players for less than $208. The reason we were forced to screen our movie from the BD was because this happened: Our screening was set to begin at 2 p.m. I'd asked Michael of Screening Services Group (they run the Sepulveda Screening Room) how long it would take to upload my film's DCP (Digital Cinema Package) to the screening room's servers. He told me "about a half-hour." I arrived a little after 1 p.m. with three USB 3.0 drives, all containing identical copies of our DCP and their projectionist began copying my film from all three of my drives to three of their servers. However, copying my film to their system seemed to be taking a lot longer than the "half-hour" that Michael had said. As the start time of my screening drew near and then passed and none of my drives had fully uploaded to any of their servers, I realized that my event might start late which would lead to other bad consequences that I don't need to go into. The projectionist told me we could try playing my film directly from one of the drives but that that might be unstable or unpredictable (I can't remember his exact word). Of course I didn't want to risk my film freezing or stopping in the middle, so, backed into a corner, with my event already 20-minutes behind schedule, I was forced to ask the projectionist to play my film from the Blu-Ray. So the projectionist pressed the play button, and I instantly incurred an additional $208 in expenses to the Sepulveda Screening Room simply because Michael had somehow underestimated how long it would take to upload my film. Even though he and at least one of his employees had already transferred my same film to their servers on at least three earlier occasions so he might have had an idea of how long it might take. If the SSR people see this review and respond that I should have given them my film earlier than the day of the screening, they will probably recall that I brought the film directly to their facilities three different times in the days leading up to the screening. The first two times I was simply told, "Your film doesn't play. It just freezes." So I re-output my DCP a third time, with new DCP software that I actually purchased, and brought it to them again. This time their system couldn't read my drive at all (a USB drive formatted as NTFS, per their instructions) so I would need to bring it back a fourth time. Due to a family emergency (and due to the SSR's business hours), I could not come again until the day of the screening. And that's how the above $208 charge happened. My fault? I would debate that. But will I use SSR or any of Screening Services Group's other venues again (Rodeo Screening Room, Wilshire Screening Room)? No. I just felt taken advantage of. I was invited to go view a screening at a film event, and witnessed an awful conversation that was initiated by the owner of the establishment: There was a poster that was situated in the hallway, and as I was standing, looking at the fixture, the owner comes in yelling and ordering the patron, who set up the poster, to immediately remove said object (completely disregarding the fact that the patron wasn't an employee, but a guest filmmaker speaking at the event). The owner was extremely disrespectful towards the filmmaker and even threatened to get rid of the object himself, paying no respect to the artist and their guest. read more

This was exactly what they said it would be. Nice room, comfortable seats. Good screen and sound equipment. We had our screening on a weekend, so parking was free. the projectionist was wonderful and even screened our film a second time, so late comers could see it all the way through. Great location.
