Always good for a solid fresh beer and more food then you expected. Today I had the new smoked sausage beer mac n cheese with pint of Rat Bastard. I love smoked sausage, beer cheese and macaroni so why wouldn't they all go well together? It was Smokey, spicy, creamy, smooth, beer bittered heaven. One possible improvement would be a soft pretzel stick to clean up the leftover beer cheese sauce so the wait staff stops giving me those looks while I lick the dish. The Rat Bastard was a slightly sweet DIPA at a respectable 8%. Not as hoppy bitter as I would expect for a DIPA which I like. It has a slight farmhouse funk that makes your mouth water. The patio was shaded well with misters but felt like some heat so we sat out on the edge. The wait staff is always great here. I have to give it up to them for making this the most normal dining experience since the new heath precautions went into affect while feeling safe. If you visit be safe, be nice, be patient, and enjoy your time out. read more

In the before times I've always enjoyed visiting this location of Sequoia Brewing ( the northeast location has been fun too ) , great Tower spot for dinner. The patio is pleasant and great service. This review is for my most recent order from Sequoia via the DoorDash app. The food arrived hot and perfectly prepared. I ordered a cheeseburger, medium , and it was so delicious! I was impressed by how crispy the tater tots were. The other order was their 5 topping pizza which was also delicious, even as 2nd day leftovers. I look forward to being in the patio again sometime this year. read more

Nothing to blow you over, but they are open late and since we go so often it's always the same. Decent big pieces of fish and chips, interesting variety of soups from week to week, big burgers that are tasty. Staff is friendly and we have seen the same faces there for years so they don't have high turnover rate (which usually means better service) read more

Met up with friends for dinner after 2 1/2 years of CoVid. The problems I had were : 1) There ADA parking behind the building great if you don't have to walk all the way around the building to get in. Defeats the purpose of accessible parking. 2) what's the deal with the hyper masculine waiter with the bad attitude. When I asked for a fresh menu he handed me an QR code and told me to use my phone? If I want an indoor Door Dash experience I would not have come out in 100+ heat. 3) The chicken pesto SUCKS....but the Root Beer was on point. Will I go there again, yes, but I'll walk if I get that toxic energy. read more

One of my favorite places to go here in Fresno. I have been coming here for years but have not reviewed because of the terrible previous ownership(as you can read about here). I just went and have already seen the new owners small changes and touches. Super excited to see how things will progress from here but already a noticeable change in morale. Jeremy will bring great care and modern updates to this downtown staple. Classic bar food that hits the spot-I love the boneless buffalo wings and mozzarella sticks the most. Gilroy pizza is my second go to. And I love the amount of beers; enough variety on tap but not overwhelming to stress out about. Really great, low key place! Great music playing! I was greeted the moment I walked in. Headed for the bar which is super nice! Very clean restaurant! The bartender Ryan was very nice and easy to talk to. Started with a Pinot Noir. It was really good! Talked to Ryan about the popular items. He told me many. Ended up ordering the Hazelwood Trail Veggie Sandwich. Asked to add grilled chicken. It also came with many choices to go with it like soup, pasta salad, coleslaw or skinny fries. I chose pasta salad. You could substitute sweet potato fries, garlic fries or salad for an additional charge. My lunch came pretty quickly! It was huge and looked ridiculously amazing! The pasta salad! Oh my goodness! Fresh and delicious! Wow! The veggie sandwich with grilled chicken was even better! Amazing! Fresh and delicious! All of the veggies were yummy! We had an excellent waiter named Peter at our table of four. He was pleasant, fast and efficient, visiting our table often to see if we needed anything. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the dining room area of the restaurant away from the bar. We had a wonderful view of Olive Avenue and watching people enjoying Halloween early. We had great experience. The atmosphere was calm quiet and pleasant indoors and seated by the large windows, we also got to experience the Tower-street-vibe which was like an exciting silent movie... at times colorful, at times comical, and at times confusing but amusing. Our meal started with the mussels and clams, which were tasty and plentiful. The sourdough bread pieces had enough broth for dipping. Our main courses were the butter garlic shrimp tacos with green salsa and it was exciting and balanced; and the salmon which was perfectly cooked, seasoned and tender and tasted comparable to higher end places I've ordered it at. We skipped the starchy sides and got the veggies, which were heavily seasoned and crunchy all in a good way, I couldn't get enough! Our son ordered the grilled cheese and tots, which he loved and our daughter the Mac n cheese with a side of broccoli and mayo which she loved. Our desserts were all good. Of the cobbler, pecan pie, brownie, and lava cake- I would say the lava cake and cobbler were my favorites. We mention the tables available and their response is there's a reservation at 8 pm. Seriously? The food isn't good enough to put up with all that. I ordered 2 salads from Sequoia Brewery and if I were them I'd be embarrassed to send those out to a customer. One was a Cobb and the other was the Cabo. They make them sound yummy in their description. Both salads the lettuce was wilted and turning brown on some. The Cabo said tomato, avocado, had 1/2 a tomato and a piece of avocado. Defiantly not worth $15.99 for all iceberg lettuce and not much else. The Cobb was the same with wilted iceberg lettuce and looked like cheese from a bag. Nothing Fresh about both salads at all. I came here for dinner with my spouse on Thursday 5/27. They were on the route for a fundraiser pub crawl and it seemed like the most logical place to get some food. I've eaten here many times before and the food is never disappointing. The services is always great as well, even more so now that all the employees have to wear masks and do extra sanitizing. You would never guess it was out of the ordinary though, since the staff all keep up their amazing service regardless. My general comment about the food here is, if you don't like fried food, you might not love your dish. However, they really do fried food well. I had been craving fish and chips for a few weeks, and when I saw they had some using a batter made with their beer, I knew I had to get it. This was some amazing fish and chips y'all. I know I'm from Fresno, and maybe there's better over at the coast, but for dinner on a Thursday night, this blew me away. The portion of batter to fish was perfect, the batter was delicious and crunchy, and the fish was melt in your mouth tender. They also brought it out with malt vinegar, a lemon wedge, tartar sauce, and ketchup (it came with fries). These are all things I was prepared to ask for, but they just came standard. Also, the portions were huge. I could only finish 1 1/2 of the fish pieces and about half of the fries. My spouse got the grizzly giant burger and it did not play around. I have no idea how he managed to finish it, and my leftovers. To round out the meal, we had a few tasty beers and the special lemonade cocktail they had for the pub crawl. Came with family to Sequoia Brewing Company for dinner; not realizing how enjoyable the evening was going to turn out. Our waiter Peter was spot on during our time at the brewery. The place has indoor and outdoor seating; which is where we sat. The indoor seating has ample room; with tables and bar service available. The outdoor area had various seating arrangements from barrel seating to picnic style seating. The place as a whole is inviting. As far as the food is concern it is worth coming back. The Herbaceous Calamari was just perfect; great texture and delicious coating. The Lumberjack Ribs were falling off the bone tender served with salad and soft baked potato! Kudos to the all the staff. And if you are hungry try the Big Daddy Goes to Texas Burger! It will definitely satisfy your appetite. Last note: Friday and Saturday evening a band plays. This place is a joke. Party of 5, but apparently invisible. A few servers in sight, giving our group the time of day after 9 minutes. We were seated and that's about it. 11 minutes into it, a server sees that we've ordered our own drinks from the bar. He then asks us if we've ordered. (Well, gee. You see us getting our own drinks, so clearly we have). We'll finish our drinks and never again. By far THE worst service in Tower, if not Fresno. If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. This is probably almost a four star review, but since I'm updating my previous 1-star review from old, they might have to fix a few more things before I want to give that much of a bump at the moment. There is a persistent bleach odor near the bar almost every time I have been here; they really need to address that because it is very off-putting. Since our old dive bar in Manchester closed, a couple friends and I have gravitated here for our semi-quarterly day-drink. The beers are about $3 during some weekday happy hour special, which we usually seem to hit. The service is ok and the atmosphere during that time is pretty relaxed, so it works out. The food is also generally good for this type of establishment. And it doesn't hurt that I am all about Sequoia brews. (Protip: you can also buy growlers or have them filled!) The woman who seems to be the manager when I've been there can be a bit abrasive. One time my friends were smoking on the patio and she marched up with a couple of ashtrays in her hand and was like "WHAT does that SIGN SAY?? (no smoking) ... I don't appreciate you out here messing up MY PATIO." They had asked and received permission from one of the staff beforehand, since the patio was empty. She put down the ashtrays and stormed off. I've also overheard her reading the riot act to members of the staff. Not a good look. I will definitely be back to Sequoia Brewing Company in Tower. It is not without its flaws, but I would choose this over some chain restaurant any day, and the awesome beers go a long way. read more

I had an early dinner with my wife. I had the steak salad. The description saiid"mixed greens". I got a large bowl of 95% iceberg lettuce. Sparse amount of red onion, bell pepper, tomato, and actual greens. I asked for my steak to be served medium well. The steak was rubbery and unseasoned. My wife had the fish and chips. Fish was overdone and dark brownish in color. Should have been golden. Very disappointed. I let the waitress know how bad the steak salad was and she said she would yell at the cook but didn't offer any kind of discount for the poorly prepared food. The price for this waste was $60 and that included the tip.The beer was good and that's why they got at least 2 stars. I had a del oro and my wife had an IPA. read more

I can't give this a zero star......Went to Sequoia with my girlfriend the other night. I've been here many times without any issues. Immediately after being seated we caught a bad vibe. The waiter we had was extremely rude, but we continued to order. I watched him interact with other groups and seemed to be smiling and jovial, but for whatever reason with us he was not. I thought at first that maybe he was having a bad day or something, but he seemed to be happy and jovial with other groups(who were all white), but for whatever reason when he approached us he was scowling, had to wait forever for him to wait on us, and just plain rude with his interactions. Most waitresses and waiters are super kind and polite, but this was not the case. Seemed to be a race thing honestly, based off his interactions with other groups. When we first arrived We were told it would be a thirty minute wait, so we sat at the bar area, and immediately watched a group of teens (who were also all white coincidentally) get immediately seated after us at a booth. We ordered a drink and appetizer to start. The margarita we ordered tasted like water mixed with a very small amount of margarita mix. Waited to ask my waiter about it, but he didn't show up so I went and asked the bartender about it myself and he told me I was wrong that he filled it almost to the top with tequila. Then continued to tell me that he could charge me double for an extra shot?! Continued to argue with me that I was wrong, like I had never had a margarita before. I told him he could keep his drink and take it off my tab. We finished our appetizer and quickly left going next door to CDT where we were promptly met with much better service. I want to give this place 3.5 stars really. I keep going back and forth between three and four. I decided on 3 for mainly two reasons. The food is ok but not great and the atmosphere is fun and nice but loud. I think if I were a younger, drinking type I would rate this place a four. It was packed and lively on a Wednesday at 4:30 in the afternoon which bodes well for a good time. As for me, I just came from a checkup at my baby doctor and I was starving. I wanted to explore tower more and this and Irene's cafe seemed to be the options that immediately jumped out at me. Decided on this place because it was first in line and again, I was starving. The inside is lodgey. It's like a big, nature friendly hunting lodge turned into a restaurant; Lots of wood, etc. the place was pretty full but mostly at the bar area and we got a nice booth with no trouble. Server and drinks were prompt. I got the philly cheese steak and potato wedges. My husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich and broccoli cheese soup. They were both fine. They were good enough to fill us up and they were solid, comfort type sandwiches. There was just nothing super about them, although my husband raved about his chicken sandwich tons. The bite I had was good. It was nice and big and crispy and the sauce was tangy but not overly hot. My philly sandwich meat was thinly sliced and there was a good amount of it but somehow the sandwich cane out looking a tad bit anemic. There was plenty of gooey cheese factor once I got into it though and it definitely killed my hunger pangs. I'd come back here again and try other sandwiches. The burgers looked interesting and they have pizzas I'd like to sample. I think I'll wait until I can sample a beer and possibly enjoy the louder than average atmosphere a bit more though. read more

Well it was a sweltering afternoon for a business conference but the attorney, detective and I found ourselves boothed up at Sequoia. A luscious steak salad with balsamic vinaigrette came my way, replete with freshly baked white rolls and plenty of butter. The steak was perfectly medium rare and tender, cut into bite sized pieces. My colleague had dessert, well it was mid-afternoon, so a large chocolate lava cake was in his star-cast, topped a la mode. To. Die. For. One member had a delightful ale whose name I can't recall. Does it matter? They are all great. I was longing for the pomegranate beer which has a hint of citrus, but sadly it was business and I could not indulge.
