The location is great as it is right in the middle of Tower district and there is plenty of parking on the street or behind the restaurant. Food- Steak bites. Always, steak bites. This is undeniably the best item on the menu. It is so good for an appetizer or just your meal. I've tried to re-create this recipe so many times, but it never comes out the same. Root beer- My daugthers love the root beer here. The dark soda comes in a frosty mug. There are no free refills though. :( Sausage Mac - Oohhhhhhhh!!! This reviles the steak bites for best on the menu. It is incredibly creamy with chunks of delicious sausage. It's also on the happy hour menu! Cajun Campfire Pasta - The sauce in this pasta is delicious. The prices are fair. They have a good range of happy hour menu items. The service is always consistent. You will get your meal, the order will be right, you will probably have to ask for refills. But no extra frills of friendliness, no chit chat about beers, not too kid friendly and no birthday perks (like free dessert). My tab is always a little bit wonky too. (For instance, I'll be charged full price instead of happy hour price for my appetizer, but my beer price comes out lower...???) There are always bands playing at this location. The visit was ok, nothing too special. The visit was last Monday on the 5th of July, me and 4 other people. We were first thrown to a table by bar but waiter moved us to a table by the front of the tv. The hall behind us was for the kitchen area the other for restroom area. I am vegan but knew it would be limited to non-existent with options. In the end, we asked for a vegan option and we're told we have a veggie sandwich by waiter. I said no thank you, the waiter said no worries we do serve left overs to animals. I assumed it was a joke, in poor taste mind you, i did order a sandwich since i was starving. The server looked like she was the floor manager and was so kind she even checked to see if bread was vegan. I am Thankful for her, $13 for basically a salad, i did have the Sherman IPA vegan friendly. All in all seems like missed opportunities and a joke that left a bad taste in my mouth. If I could give negative stars I would. I have been to this restaurant several times, as well as their counterpart in North Fresno. I have never been treated so poorly as I was today. I called to inform the manager (Michelle) of a bad experience we had before we left for a business trip 2 weeks ago... Before I was even able to say anything, she cut me off, berated me for waiting to call, and spoke to me in a very disrespectful manner. I tried to explain that we were away on business the last 2 weeks so were unable to call, but she was so agressive, harsh, and rude that it didn't make a difference what I said. I told her perhaps I should speak to the owner and she YELLED at me that she was the owner. At this point I informed her that there was no reason to go into the issue I called regarding, because obviously it was going to fall of deaf ears.. And I'm not going to allow anyone to speak to me in this manner. I informed her I would just leave a review instead. She raised her voice again and said she'd be sure to respond to my review, then hung up on me. This is not how you treat your customers. I have hosted several events over the years at both the tower location, as well as the North location. I will no longer be spending money in any of these establishments due to the disrespectful nature of (the owner) Michelle. On their website and on their menu they prominently offer an "all-you-can-eat" fish and chips special on Thursdays. Neither the menu nor the website make clear that this offering is not actually available during the day. Not seeing any specific time limitation I drove down there figuring on ordering the fish and chips special. Anyway, I place my order and the waiter informs me that my selection is not available until 4pm. What time is it when I place the order? 3:30pm. The thing is, I wanted to eat and get out of there, not sit around waiting for 30 more minutes needlessly. I mentioned to the waiter that they did not specify on the website or on their menu anything about having to wait until 4 and asked if they could maybe start me out a little early. He said he would have to ask the manager and then walked away. Next thing I know, some dead-eyed woman comes up to my table and asks if I want another beer, I mention to her that the waiter was checking on whether they would start an order of fish and chips for me a little early. Her words: "I am the owner, no." So, I paid up for one *very* mediocre beer (the Irish Stout - a nearly tasteless pint, advertised as being served under Nitrogen, like Guinness, but was actually CO2 charged and every bit as weak and tasteless as the stuff Guinness sells in those plastic bottles.) Yeah, they are aiming high down here. I would have had another, different, beer, during my meal, had such been available as specified on the menu. Plus, I had intended to bring back a to-go cheeseburger for my wife. The tab would have easily been $35 plus tip. Instead, the store got $3, and the waiter got a couple for a tip (it wasn't his fault the owner/manager is a prick.) The last 3 bucks they will see out of me. I left and will not return. I do not appreciate being baited and switched. If the special is not available until 4pm, say so on your goddamned menu, dead-eyed lady owner. Generally, everything wrong about this place has to do with crap ownership/management. They think you owe them your business. You. Don't. And the Irish Stout is crap, too. read more

They can either leave you wondering why people are so critical, or why it's not closed yet. Our stop was great. Service was good. Drinks taken by one guy. Drinks delivered by another girl. Order taken by same guy. Food delivered by another girl. They must have created a playbook for food expediting. X's and O's on a chalkboard. Great execution. Shared the pulled pork special, piggy on fire. Tasty pulled pork with pepper jack cheese and jalapenos. Want another one. Sweet potato fries were sprinkled with Parmesan. I'm no sweet potato fries virgin. These are delicious. General Sherman IPA. Tasty and well crafted. Worth going out of your way for if you want good food traveling through. Ordered a burger in here and it came dry and overcooked and management was uncorporative to fix the problem. There were a few flies in the place that came in from the open front door. Fresno Health Department code says a door that leads directly into a restaurant cannot be kept open unless there is a "fly fan" installed which operates when the door is opened. read more

11/7/15: Just your typical American diner-level food, with a fancier themed facade. I think a band was playing live that night, but honestly I forgot what kind of music they were playing. Food's alright... Their beer has promise though (the real beer--not their "special" root beer which was quite average)... 1. Handcrafted Rootbeer $2.75: Apparently one of their specialties. Unfortunately not special tasting. Was okay, but didn't taste too different than the more popular canned sodas other than having less fizz. 5/10. 2. Black Oak Porter $4.85: Good beer. I didn't take tasting notes, but I did like it quite a bit. Rich and smokey. 6/10. 3. Sangria $9.24: Comes in a huge goblet. Tastes good, but nothing special in particular. 5/10. 4. You get a ribeye for a generous dose of interstitial fat, so in this case I would say it's closer to sirloin. I asked for medium-rare, was closer to medium-well. First I want too admit that I'm definitely a meat eater. Second I can definitely eat and the bigger the better. My hamburger was delicious but I have to admit I left a bit hungry. Looks can be deceiving and though it was big it wasn't big enough. I ordered the 1/2 pound Big Texas Burger it was juicy and cooked to perfection. The barbecue sauce was delicious. It also had two giant onion rings too add to the height. The service was great and my waiter was friendly. I asked for a side of jalapeño's and barbecue. Ate here twice during my latest visit to Fresno and enjoyed two different burgers. The first was a special juicy lucy style with grilled onions and horse radish in the center. Excellent. The second was the signature Yeti burger (check the pics) which in addition to being gigantic was loaded with good flavors that really worked together. Doing the 5 minute challenge is very doable, but don't rush this one-take your time and enjoy the burger. If you want the t-shirt, just buy one! House beers were very good overall. Just wish they could get the beer smell out of the main area as it makes you think you are in a dive even though the place is clean, well lit, and has good décor. read more

ONE thing kept this from being a higher review. We took my daughter here for her birthday dinner Friday March 31. There was 6 of us. Our server was great! He did a great job. He even let us move outside after being seated next to the bar which was loud, hot and crowded. Outside was MUCH better. Everything was fine up until the bill. The total was about $138.....expected. Then they added a rather large fee of around $25 for a party of 6 or more. WHAT? I had no warning of this. It was a BS charge because I paid a tip on top of that. What was the $25 for? We didn't require more than one server. He had no trouble taking care of us. We were only 6. I can understand a large party charge for 10 or 12 or more, but 6? Outrageous!! The burgers are great maybe $2-$3 more pricey for most brewery/burger joints I've been to in Fresno but I've found that to be expected from most resteraunts in tower. Anyways, the burgers were great both times I've been here and if adult drinks are your thing then you won't be disappointed with the wide array of crafted beers and mixed drinks they offer. Went to the Chaffey Zoo today and decided to stop for lunch here since it's just down the road. The staff were very friendly when we walked in, and brought drinks quickly. I had one of the house brewed beers, a pale ale, that was very good. Once we received our food it was very good. I had the Catfish Poboy with garlic fries. It was seriously tasty. My wife got a burger and my daughter pizza. Both said they liked their order, however I tasted the pizza, and it wasn't as good my sandwich. The service was good, and the waiter brought us beer samples when we asked about beers on the menu. The place was clean. I will come back for sure. read more

We were passing through Fresno from the Sierras and decided to stop for dinner. At first we were hoping for Mexican, but it being Labor Day, almost every place was closed. We searched on Yelp and found Sierra and decided to give it a go in spite of the 3 1/2 star rating. To this extent, many of the poor ratings were about the staff and our experience was 180 degrees from theirs because the staff were stellar. They were attentive and efficient. As for the food. It was on par with any 4 star restaurant. I had th ribs and I ate them with a fork and knife. If the meat fell completely off the bone, then this would be a 5 star rating. Yet, my experience with meat falling off the bone, is that it happens when a restaurant specializes in ribs and BBQ. My friend had the bourbon cheddar tri-tip sandwich special, which was too rich for me (I tasted it) but it was delicious. read more

I was really surprised there was a happy hour on a Saturday from 1pm-4pm, margarita was great! Strong, not to sweet, nice citrus balance. I got the grilled chicken(with avocado and bacon) sandwich. Very tasty, chicken was a tad dry but ok. They serve their burgers dry, so if you like mayo or any other sauce, you have to ask for it. The atmosphere can get a little loud at times especially when there is a band. So I just avoid those times cuz im here for the food. Steak bites to be specific. Their steak bites with mushrooms and blue cheese are addicting. Tender and juicy with just enough blue cheese to give it a bite. So good. I've gotten a few people addicted to these beauties. The meatloaf is superb and that coming from a meatloaf hater. Tasty burgers and really good sandwiches especially the tri tip. There have been a few dishes that where meh but hey can't win them all. I felt the need to share this because I felt completely disrespected by an employee named "Peter" at this establishment. The day of the Tower District Pooch Parade 2019, I walked in with a friend, my son, and my SERVICE DOG and I asked for a table indoors so that I could see highlights of the game (and eat) that had aired just before I walked in. I made it a point to wait until the majority of people had left. I was told that only the patio is available to us and I looked around to see that there were plenty of tables without patrons. I specifically asked for an indoor seat once again and Peter, shook his head and said, "No, let's go sit you guys outside" I asked why I could not have an indoor seat and he exclaimed that it was because of the "dog hair" and that the owner requests no animals at all. I told him that my "animal" was by law exempt and that what he was saying was in fact discrimination. He walked away from me while I was talking to seat us outside and I followed to ask if he was a manager at which point a manager was walking out of the kitchen area we were passing and she said "no, he's not, I am". I followed her up back to the front and explained to her that he was being completely disrespectful by ignoring my request and ignoring me and that fact that I had a service animal. She said the owner requires proof of this. I told her I had proof in my wallet and I asked if the owner knew that asking to provide proof of a service animal is against the law as form of discrimination to my disability. She said he didn't know that herself and wasn't sure if the owner knew. I decided then an there, I wasn't going to bother because I was just not going to spend my money there. I'm sure the owner knows her laws and refuses to abide by them until it gets her in trouble, otherwise, how does she run her business? Nonetheless, I am handling it by contacting the proper government agency so that they can teach her a thing or two about how train Peter and any other employee, herself included, in hopes that they do not do this to anyone else. read more

The best way to go is appetizers and drinks. best two appetizers, according to all the people i have gone with are the Pretzels "they are like delicious deep fried donuts with salt" and the fried green beans There are tons of beer options of course. Live band nights, are a great opportunity to enjoy music and the company of your friends. Parking: Parking can be a problem since it is in the tower district. It has a large parking lot that is shared with Me and eds, and a few other establishments. Depending on the time you may have to search for a long while. People will often use that parking lot to go anywhere in tower. Friday nights are PACKED so be prepared. Lighting, it is easy to see but has a darker atmosphere. We tried to go tonight. There was a wait and the hostess shared it would be around 35 minutes. They don't take numbers and we were told we had to wait outside in 108 degree heat. Not being from the area, we opted to drive around downtown to see what was to be seen. We came back in 25 minutes and was told they called our name and we weren't there so they gave our table away and took us off the list. Sensing our frustration, the host said they would put us next on the list. After three names were called I checked in again with the host and was told they didn't know when we might get a table. With today's technology for texting when tables are ready, to expect patrons to stand outside in sweltering heat for extended periods of time with flies buzzing around is just ridiculous.
